lovely story momminmum
not up to much either - both DD's are asleep. Think I've got it down to an art getting them to nap at the same time, so I can have a bit of free time.

beller · 08/02/2008 16:43

congrats moominmum!

angechica, did they say why to put them on the boob first with the bottle? I dont have anoyone tohelp with bottle unfortunatley, apart from th eodd time. Plus George has reflux, so sat here with sick down my hair and top now...nice! hahaha Got him weighed today though and he is now 11lb 4 oz, from 7 lb 2 at birth, so its not doing him any harm!

Gingeme - i tried to doctor browm bottles, but george prefers the tomme tippee ones, and they do an anti colic xx

Susiemj · 08/02/2008 17:12

what a lovely boy angechica!

seasidemama · 08/02/2008 18:06

AngeChica · 09/02/2008 11:10

V tearful this morning because mum has gone home. dad came to get her early as she and DH weren't getting on. I'm really upset about the whole thing actually and more than a little bit ashamed of my husband. mum has been a godsend this week and he has just been so effin rude to her. she has a lot of health probs and to be nasty to her is like kicking a puppy.

Now I'm acutely aware they are probably only civil to him for my sake. not to make DH out to be to much of a monster, a case of jealousy I think and unwillingness to accept help! I'm still cross with him too for ruining last 3 months of my pregnancy , all over nothing as of course he was bowled over by DS as soon as he was born!

sorry for venting spleen again, I keep thinking about madmouse and this all seems so trivial.

gingeme · 09/02/2008 11:50

Morning ladies.
Mnay congrats moominmum and welcome to your lovely baby.
Had a bit of shocking news last night. My cousin had a baby girl last night, two weeks early and she has Downs. My other cousin ,her sister, rang me to tell me. Says she is taking it pretty well though is quite tearful about it all.
On a lighter note we have just booked our first family holiday. Well its more of a lonf weekend realy. Its with Haven in Combe Haven. Half price self catering. My parents are coming with us too. So hopefuly George will be feeding and sleeping better by then so well all enjoy our time away.
Lo feeeds little and often too. Gonna start his bed time routine tonight as he was asleep in my arms last night from 8.30 sfter his bath and feed more or less till I went to bed so will be trying him in his moses basket.
Well I hope evryone is enjoying the sunshine
xxx

MoominMum · 09/02/2008 13:28

Thanx all for your lovely messages!

KWYM about the secret club thing Angechica! I have a policy of no graphic detail to anyone who's yet to have a baby!

Talking about perspective - my cousin had her baby the day before mine, she'd developed a kidney problem at 6 months pg (horrendous pain I understand) which worsened over xmas and had been taken into hosp for this when waters broke but hosp had no mat unit so had to transfer. Was promised faithfully, given level of pain she was already suffering, that pethadine would be on hand for the delivery and was truly terrified of the labour to come. She was left on her own with just hubby and mum for long periods during the labour, including the 45 mins before the baby actually crowned, and when it came to it there was only one anaethstetist on duty and he was in theatre so the promised pethadine never arrived - I can't imagine how it would feel to be clinging on to the thought that something would be coming to take the pain away and then it not arriving! She eventually gave birth to tiny baby girl(5.3 I think). Then they found that the baby's gullet was not connected up so she had to have tricky surgery. Cous and hub had to drive home 2 hrs every night without their little girl and she was only allowed to hold her baby after about 6 days - I cried just thinking about that. Anyway, the lo came thru' OK and once cous' kidney problem has been sorted they should be able to start doing all of the humdrum frustrating - and, yes, beautiful - things we're all doing every day. Makes you thankful for humdrum and frustrating tho'!

susiemj · 09/02/2008 14:14

congratulations moominmum. yes, that stiry does make you think. and madmouse's too. i can't imagine not holding LO.

KT - If you have tine, could you post those expressing tips. Seem to have gone bcak to 2oz a time myself.

Gingeme - ooo holiday. lovely . I'm sorry about your sister's baby. wishing them well.

Ange - sorry your dh is being a prat. YOU should be the only one allowed to be unreasonable!

beller - sorry about George's reflux. did you get medecine? sabela had a puky phase - not reflux but can sympathise with clothes changes! hat's a great amount of weight he's put on. you must be very proud.

toomany - work????!!! I'm impressed.

awen - hope ds is feeling better

All well here. my only concern is that sabela puts on weight at next weigh in. BF group was good. They think she is feeding properly now. whoopee! Had first trip out to a cafe yesterday. baby was good. was dreading it if she screamed. fed with bottle though. too shy to feed in public still and all bf tops seem too faffy etc. hmmmm

betterhalf · 09/02/2008 20:17

Mum2sons, I cant believe you had a boy on the 25th and called him Toby! I had a son on the 25th too and called him Toby!

MoominMum · 09/02/2008 22:10

Re expressing:

Someone may well have already covered this - haven't had time to read whole thread yet, sorry! - but fwiw fennel tea works a treat for me and have just started brewers yeast tabs as recommended by my MW. With fennel my first yield of the day is about 8-9oz, followed by 4 yeilds of around 3oz thru' the day, plus whatever Magnus is taking direct. Without it the first is 4-5oz and am lucky to get 2oz from the others. Must drink a lot of water tho as it's a diuretic and of course it is utterly revolting!!
Have also found the hand pump with soft rubber massaging funnel cover (is it OK to mention products specifically?) is far better than the electric pump they gave me at the hospital - def risk of repetetive strain injury tho!

pussycatmomma · 09/02/2008 22:11

Hellloooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this is the first chance I have had to come on to mn and I just wanted to share my news. I havent had a chance to read any messages etc, but just quickly wanted to say.....
I gave birth to the most beautiful little boy on Sunday 3rd February at 7.58pm,
Noah Gabriel Joseph, weighing 7lb 5oz.
The most miraculous experience I have ever been through, and I have been busy falling in love with him ever since the minute he came out.
We are absolutely blessed, and needless to say both myself and mr.pussycat are completely besotted with our little bundle.
My induction was horrendous, I went in Sat morning and didnt have him until Sunday evening. A long process, but so very very worth it.
I am completly loved up with him, and we are all doing well. I am extremely battered and bruised and still in quite a lot of pain but am thrilled to say I am Mummy to the most gorgeous baby that ever made it into the world!! Dh has exceeded every expectation I could ever have imagined and it is so lovely to see him with baby Noah, and watch him fall in love too. It takes my breath away to look at them both together.
Obviously I am very hormonal at the moment, but everything is peachy.
More again from me when I have a spare minute.
Love, love, love to all,
from Pussycat and her new kitten xxxxxxxxxxxx

pussycatmomma · 09/02/2008 22:12

ps would someone update me on the list please?

MoominMum · 09/02/2008 22:32

Congrats Pussycat! And thanks for spreading that lurve around [sneaks off to gaze at own object of adoration]!

madmouse · 09/02/2008 23:34

Hi all

I have uploaded some pictures of Nathan. Feeling a bit happier today, so ready to show him off. Thanks for all the support on the other thread, it really helps.

Pussycatmomma congrats! I realised sometime last week that we must have been in the JR together, as I was admitted on the 30th and gave birth on the 1st and was discharged only on Wednesday. I was in the family room on level 5. Strange idea that we may have walked past each other!

lilyloo · 10/02/2008 08:34

Firstly lovely pics of Nathan MM. How are things any news on the scan yet ? Glad to see you have got some more support on your other thread in sn and glad to see how positive they all are.

Angechica so about your hubby. Am guessing they never really got on ? He should appreciate the support she has given you though, what a shame. If you need to vent do!

Gingeme we booked Haven for April at Reighton Sands so hoping the same as you. Also hoping to start routine too as still co sleeping but getting loads of sleep. Martha only waking twice and feeding for half hour at most then just goes straight off so Moses Basket lies empty still! Hope your cousin coming to terms with things.

Congrats Pussycatmoma replied on the Jan
thread!

Susie glad you had day out Fri, am sure the bf thing will get easier in public as you get more use to it and more confident. Maybe try going somewhere where they have designated bf places i.e Mothercare, Ikea has a nice one. Then you can build your confidence.

Might be good if we can all list good shopping places to bf as it all helps!

Well enjoy the sunshine everyone it looks another lovely day here, went out for couple of hours yesterday but got family round today and will all be watching the derby!

p.s Lolo thinks she in labour posted on Jan thread early hours this am!

susiemj · 10/02/2008 14:11

MM - Wha an adorable boy!

Pussycatmomma - congratuylations - it' a total love-fest isn't it?

Moominmama - thanks for fennel tea tip.

Iliyloo - have a lovely day with family. Am off to hunt for lolo.

Hello evryone else!

Had a good night and morning here. Think I might be getting into the swing of this (famous last words )

gingeme · 10/02/2008 19:49

Many congrats pussycat
Glad Im not the only one still with an empty moses basket lillyloo. Will start tonight. Gonna give George a bath at 8.30 and a feed and expect to have a long night trying to get him in it.
Wish me luck.
Madmouse what a handsome little guy.
We went to Highgate woods this afternoon. I took George in his sling over my t shirt with my fleece over the top. Other ds's were walking though we did take ds4's buggy. George started crying and rooting about half way round so I hoiked up my t shirt 'got one out' and fed him in his sling. What an experience. Totaly covered by my fleece and the spare bit of cloth from the sling. 20 mins later he was happily fed, I re adjusted myself and carried on in the playground with my other ds's. Pat on the back for me I think
Go on girls you can do it

katyt1 · 10/02/2008 20:16

big pat on the back gingeme have used the sling today too in town but over my coat, will try under next time. tho today ds2 just slept through quick shopping trip so didn't need to feed him anyway.

agree re lovefest

madmouse - great to see pics, chin up and hope you and dh are supporting each other through this.

ange (((hugs))) re family situation and dh. that's out of line for him.

pussycat - congratulations

doing ok here, ds1 teething last few molars, both ds's have colds, yuk. makes it hard for ds2 to settle after a feed but we are managing.
dh took ds1 out to a party this afternoon and i got a 1.5hr sleep, mmmm.
planning an early night tonight too. feel like lack of sleep catching up with me now.
anyway, got dh at home this week, hooray

MamaMaiasaura · 10/02/2008 22:15

hi all. Glad to have found new thread. Ds2 found his thumb again today and had good suck. We also had first gummy grin today

MamaMaiasaura · 10/02/2008 22:17

oops - copy and pasted from dec thread as lazy cow tonight

Well done on feeding gingeme. I have fed in public 5 times now but not in a sling. Would love to be able to do so with a sling. ds1's birthdaqy tomorrow. Cant believe this time 8 years ago i was in labour for first time!

gingeme · 10/02/2008 22:30

Thankyou.
Right can anyone help please? I have been in my room since 8.30 pm after bathing lo trying to get him to sleep in his moses basket. Ive tried boob, cuddles, singing, swearing nearly crying! Any tips? Realy want to try and get him to do this before we go away in March. Better go hes screaming again.
Thanks

susiemj · 10/02/2008 23:50

i think you're the expert gingeme. can you feed, wind, wrap, feed until sleep and then do it?

I've also thought about warming the bedwith a hairdryer, or the sheet on the radiator as i think the change in temp wakes her.

just a thought.

having said that, she stll much prefers sleeping next to me. we don't cosleep cos i'm scared but sometimes if she's stressed i let her nap next to me while i'm awake and she loves it.

susiemj · 10/02/2008 23:52

moominmama - how much fennel tea do you drink?

any more expressing tips anyone?

MoominMum · 11/02/2008 05:49

susie - I take one cup 1st thing in the morning and one b4 I go to bed at night. All the reading I could find said it wasn't recommended but only cos there was no available info apart from a couple of more 'herbal' sites iykwim, who recommended it. Spoke to MW about it and she said it was fine, had known lots of mums who took it and by all accounts was effective but to make sure I drank plenty of water. I have been bothered with night-sweats but doesn't seem to be affected by the fennel (tried not taking for a few days and still woke up in a cold wet bog!) except to make them smell funny . Prob not so bad if you like the stuff but we're a firmly anti-liquorice household here!
KWYM about the bedding temp btw - once the lo is asleep on me I snuggle his cellular blanket over him for a bit so it's at same temp, then put him down gently and wrap him in the blanket and hold him again for a minute or 2 b4 putting him down to sleep - sometimes works!
