Thought I'd start this thread now as I think there's already a couple of people to go on it, and I know there'll be an awful lot more!!

Will update when I get a chance

Well back from work and had a lovely time catching up with everyone. Aliya was fast asleep and despite everyones effort to wake her, she was completely in a deep slumber. DD1 loved the attention from everyone and was more hyper than usual! Gosh, going back to work feels like another planet..can't believe I was part of that 'life' a few months ago...

Ange - Congratulations on the birth of your LO. I can understand where you are coming from regarding mixed feeding - I was like that a few weeks ago - I felt guilty for topping up with formula, but now I'm ok with it. My main concern is ensuring that DD2 and I are both happy and mixed feeding is best for us. I think toomanyshoes wrote a very good comment further down about mixed feeding and why you shouldn't beat yourself up over it.

katyt1 · 06/02/2008 22:18

hi all, as usual got too far behind to catch up properly.

weight yes about 2 stone to get to pre-pg no2 weight and another stone to get back to pre-pg no1
ah well...

going to post a list, see what you all think.

I weighed myself today and I'm actually lighter than I was pre-preg but my trousers still don't fit! Must be the overhang from Aaliyah. [grr]

Had a really boring day today - slept LOADS and feel a little better for it but abit depressed that I haven't got out and about today (used to taking a little walk each day now)

Got midwife coming tomorrow (hopefully to sign us off) and BFC Friday. We're going to parent's on the bus on Tuesday morning (Mums' birthday on Saturday)

Feel so worn out by everybody. [sigh] ahh well never mind. lol

Housemum · 06/02/2008 23:57

Wow Katy - I'd been thinking a list would be good but hadn't got round to it - the thought of trawling through all the posts to find the dates/weights etc. Round of applause to you!

I'll just re-post it as DD is Amelie (as in French name) not Amelia - we get that a lot!

One of the other ante- or post-natal threads the other day had a really smart looking list - can't remember which it was though!

Susiemj · 07/02/2008 01:21

Lucky - I'm with you on feeling worn out by visits! Only my brother was really welcome as he did all the cooking and washing. That was FAB! DH and I actually got to sit down on the sofa together for a full hour! at your weight! and with you on the c-sec belly. I tried on some new (much bigger) trousers yesterday and it was the belly that let me down. I did get huge with extra amniotic fluid while pregnant. I guess it's just going to take a while for me.

KT - It's naughty of me but I'm glad there's someone else not back in their normal clothes yet! List looks good to me.

Congratulations efmc and scaryhairycat!

barristermum · 07/02/2008 09:53

Hi everyone,

Katy well done on the list - we are an impressive bunch now aren't we?
Gingeme - sorry about the row - sounds as tho' the air needed clearing - find it so comfortin you, with your 5 healthy lads, still find yourself occasionally at a loss with a new baby.
Nicky - Naetha's baby Benjamin has a tongue tie so she may have more info about it. Didn't get the impression it was a major thing.
Isn't it sad about madmouse's little boy- great that he's alive and will have a proper life but so sad there will be obstacles nonetheless.
Ange - don't beat yourself up about mixed feeding - very impressive you are doing bf and that is the main thing.
Lucky - I always feel a bit c**p if I don't get outdoors at least 1 day.

Still no poo from Cerys - who seems perfectly happy in herself about this! Am going to take her to the health visitor today to set my mind at rest if nothing else.
And can now hear her stirring from morning nap. Speak soon love to all.

Martha200 · 07/02/2008 10:03

Just posted on the parenting thread, and unfortunately not got much chance to read email/the site anymore, but OMG anyone else with a really cry baby He is SO unlike my first who even at 3 weeks was a much more content laid back baby. I guess being bf he will be more demanding but bit worn out right now.

Ange - just spotted Bmums comment about mixed feeding, I agree don't give yourself a hard time. Any bf milk helps. I have just introduced a 'top up' due to a bad bout of mastitis and my section scar is giving me a little gip so no doubt have a big black cross on my house door

got to dash, take care.

Dotsie · 07/02/2008 10:08

Hi All, hope everything's ok with everyone. I had the original velcro baby yesterday. Patrick didn't want to be put down at all. Oh well, extraordinarily good excuse for doing bugger all housework I say! DD and DS1 off school for half term now, so all 3 watching tv with dd cuddling Patrick. Big kids definitely have their uses!

Katy, well done on the list. Impressive isn't it?! Patrick was born on 9/01 and weighed 7lbs 12. Don't know what he is now, HV coming tomorrow so will find out, but I'm sure he's growing..his first babygros are looking distinctly small now!.

Got to go, there's only so much pacifying big sis can do when P requires boob! Love to all Dxxxx

Susiemj · 07/02/2008 10:10

barristermum - hope visit goes well and you get some movement.

Martha - I think dd1 has just realised what she can do with crying! I stil think she's pretty chilled baby but my god she can go for it! and wants to be in arms all the time.

Sabela fed 20 minutes in every hour last night from 3. she still wanted a top up at 7.30 and had 4 1/2 oz (half bm half formula - still on mixed feeding here too). she just wanted feedng again. anyoneelse like this? [i know you are angechica! sympathy] am beginning to feel paranoid about milk supply. Why is this always the first thing I think of? there does always seem to be milk coming out...she seems to be like this for at least on period every day. ????

Susiemj · 07/02/2008 10:17

I should say 20-40 minutes in the hour! help!

gingeme · 07/02/2008 11:14

snap susie George fed the same last night and seemed realy windy too. Mind you I did have spinach with my dinner think that might have upset him a bit.
He wants to be cuddled all the time too and its exhausting .
Hope Cerys 'goes' soon though my friends baby girl did ths for ages while she was new born and she is breast fed. Shes fine.
Cant say the same for George though nearly every nappy is a poohey one.
I just showed dh the list of little lovelies. He was very impressed.
Well off to pick ds3 up from nursery soon. I have been taking George out in his sling when its dry. He loves it.
Take care all xxxx

Dotsie · 07/02/2008 11:39

Hi Susie and gingeme. Do you think it could be growth spurts? Patrick was the same 2 nights ago, feeding seemingly constantly, and didn't want to be put down at all yesterday. I think we've all just got to go with the flow really, and bear in mind the constant feeding is just a phase..."this too shall pass"!
Was going to go to baby cafe today, but DS1 spent last night being sick, so better not. Doubt if I'd be very popular if he passed on a tummy bug to a lot of tinies! DD really wanted to go (is baby-mad since Patrick was born) so is a bit disappointed, but such is life. There'll be other times I'm sure.
Right had better make the most of DS2 being asleep and do something constructive... make a brew or sort the ironing? I'll put the kettle on!

Susiemj · 07/02/2008 12:35

have you seen this ???

1p for breast pads!

Susiemj · 07/02/2008 12:42

just seen - it's £11 postage - still a good deal though

LuckySalem · 07/02/2008 13:08

Afternoon ladies,

Aaliyah had a feeding day yesterday so it could well be growth spurts.

BM - Aaliyah has days at a time where she doesn't poop so it probably is just a BF baby thing.

Midwife been today and signed us off The BFC is coming at 2 with a mini electric pump to start expressing. I'm not going to give her the actual expressed milk till she turn 4 weeks on Weds will just "practise" and store the milk.

Can I put more than one lot of expressed milk in the same bottle? Also can I freeze it?

Hope y'all ok.
XXX

AngeChica · 07/02/2008 13:20

Bf cousellor nurse has just been out to see me. am v reassured by her advice, also she showed me better attachment. Since then Alek has fed constantly though for 2 hours! she said cluster feeds are common now. While she was there I squeezed milk out during different times during a half hour feed on one breast and she was satisfied that he was getting a full feed. The breast produces milk as we feed so I don't have to worry if no let down or leaking. She said the more I feed and express the less will need to top up but this can be done v gradually over the weeks.... i asked why he rarely brings up burps but does huge farts (! ) pretty much constantly - she said nothing to worry about! She wasn't judgmental about the top ups just gave me a plan to try and reduce them over time. So if anyone worried and can access this sort of person I would recommend seeing someone (although they're all different I'm sure. We also have a breastfeeding peer supporters group at our Surestart adn they're coming to see me too because I can't get to the meetings yet. O well off to try and express while he sleeps!

gingeme · 07/02/2008 13:21

Yes Dotsie probably a growing spurt though they usualy have one at 6 weeks so George is a bit early,4 weeks old today,
Pleased to say things are better at home now weve had our row and talk. Though dh slept in our bed last night and probably wished he hadn't as it was such a disturbed night
I have a love bite on my booby today. I think lo misjudged where my nip was last night. dh thinks its funny though quite sore.
Has anybodys lo smiled yet? Those of you who have slightly older lo's? Im sure George gave ds3 a smile today. ds3 thought so so Ill let him think that he did. He realy follows voices now too. Im sure he knows ds'3 as he heard him lots when he was inside me

LuckySalem · 07/02/2008 13:24

Ginge - I get the odd smile, if we tickle her nose or chin. I'm not sure if she realises what she's doing yet but it's nice to see them. She's still not focussing on us properly (looks past our shoulder alot) but when she does her eyes follow you abit.

lilyloo · 07/02/2008 14:11

Hi all Martha, Susie would agree with others think it growth spurt. Martha the same last night. It seems worse for cluster feeding in the evening here!
Lucky yes i tend to put different express milk in same bottle as long as it same day. Yes you can freeze bmilk for 6 weeks i think but only store it for 24 hours in fridge!
Agree bmum just posted on MM thread it's very isn't it put's things into perspective doesn't it ?
Gingeme i sure i have had couple of smiles too!
Well took all 3 dc's to have photo taken at ds school today and it lovely Martha was awake and looking at camera! I now have to convince dp to get it an a big canvas but it £50
Ange glad you feel more reassured r/e feeds!
Dotsie hope ds better soon not great timing to be ill with lo around!
Katy great list well done
Much love to everyone else LL X

mixedmama · 07/02/2008 14:34

hey ladies

Have updated my details with the weight. How is everyone, been soooo long.

Everything is now going well, Ediz has put back on his weight but it has meant that he is now predominantly formula fed altho we are still getting some breast feeding in there too.

Some lovely names out there, especially Momto2now .. Zahra... is my name although the first a is an e in my case.

Hope everyone is well, will skim through quickly but dont know when I will be on next.

barristermum - our dd had the same problem re bowel movements just after she was born. Went 11 days with nothing, but was perfecly happy in herself during that time. Could produce most awful farts and was quite windy, but otherwise content. Doctors couldn't tell why no poo, but also said to me that breast fed babies sometimes don't poo for ages. Anyway, we finally landed up back at the hospital where they gave her a suppository which unclogged the works. She then went another 7 days before going on her own. No one has ever really been able to say why, maybe just her digestive system starting up slower than everything else. Anyway dd seemed pretty happy during that time - which sounds like your Cerys so I hope she also just starts up on her own after a while.

Thread moves so quickly I just manage to read everything and then dd wakes up so don't get to post! We are currently feeding and typing which is a bit of a fuss...

Agree with those of you having problems expressing. I've been expressing every day and getting max 2 ounces which is a pathetic haul but just can't get more out. Have been doing it while dd is feeding, which at least means we get something but does take some of the pleasure out of feeding her. Beginning to lose heart with it - does anyone know if its likely to get better? We feed her the measly bits I get out, but it's not enough for a proper feed so our hope of someone else being able to give her one feed a day is rather thwarted.

On brighter note, went to post natal exercise class at hospital today which was really good fun. All very gentle exercise, but I still found myself feeling a bit puffed so have clearly turned into a couch potato over the last 9 months!

Am feeling bored, DD1 and DD2 both asleep...Done all the housework, watched 'Desperate Housewives'....nothing to do which is wierd.

Has anyone else noticed that thier newborns neck smells? No matter how often I clean the area, can't seem to get rid of the pong.
