Holly that's disgusting. I know how you feel, if not through groups but they were like that to me in my old job, I never got invited to lunch etc, I was so miserable.

I can't understand it tbh as I had a really fun time with you that day, it's not like you are an evil freak lol!!

It's a long drive for sure but do you want to come to our meet with Jammy and Bumper?
It is on a weekend though.

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 12:08

That's awful Holly

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 12:09

Also I am free most weekends if you fancy coming shopping in Reading or whatever!

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 12:14

OK, I am going to brave the showers and go our for a walk with C. We are going to baby group this afternoon (a nice one. like Holly we have also been to one where lots of the mums ignored us and it stinks) and I feel it would do me good to get the blood flowing abit instead of transferring straight from sitting on my bum here all morning to sitting on my bum for the afternoon there

annobal · 10/01/2008 12:27

Holly. That's awful, sounds like they're just really unthoughtful. Are there any other groups around? Ever get to London? I'd love to meet up.

Think you're right about the bp btw - still feeling a bit odd so am going to make the most of being pampered. Could be that I'm just over-excited as my auctions are ending today on ebay .

LittleMissNorty · 10/01/2008 12:42

Holly - that's awful ...I often get that as I appear to be very strong / full of myself etc but am quite shy underneath IYKWIM.....also got a variety of hangups...old mum etc etc so I avoid all those sort of places............people like that aren't worth knowing IMO...

I've just given DD homemade shepherds pie (with baby beef gravy) with broccoli, leeks, carrot and cauliflower and it looked like something the cat had vomited up. I was pretty sure she wouldn't eat it as mince is a strange texture for LOs and she LOVED it ...

Are they allowed tuna? (I remember not being able to eat much of it pg cos of mercury content).....great....I shall do some of that for her as well [smile

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 12:50

That is bollocks holly, hope you are OK now you're back on line with your real friends.

Seriously though that kind of thing is just so uncalled for, if they can't be bothered to get to know you they aren't worth it. We'll all come round to yours on the day they all go to your neighbours. Bet we would have more fun!

fecking chewed up rice cake is disgusting and sticks to everything. baggins doesn't need a bib he needs a bleedin' radiation suit

Ignore you fury - never! (cower in a corner perhaps please note tongue in cheek!)

Help me - DH is being a techno-nerd today (honestly, he's a lot easier to cope with when he's grumpy)

Agree with everyone else Holly, these people sound really thoughtless and rude actually . I kind of know how you feel as I am a permanent outsider where I live, I'm kind of resigned to that now, Italians are really insular.

But anyway don't let it get to you, cos it's them not you, and we love you Are there other groups you could try?

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 13:09

I love it on here! It's all warm and cosy and friendly! Thanks for the kind words I am feeling better now! My dp just popped home and gave me a cuddle and that was good too!

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 13:13

I LOVE YOU GUYS xxxx

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 13:13

glad you feel better holly.

must go and dust

OP posts:
HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 13:16

I'm going to start calling everyone hun in a minute !

I suppose I am a bit "different" than most people, I have a bit of a warped sense of humour and a lot of people don't get me! I suppose these mums just don't appreciate me, oh well, their loss!

Ria, I have just spent ages picked off dried rice cake from the highchair. It is minging!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 13:17

Oh holly that sucks. i know how you feel though, i'm like norty, seem confident on the outside but actually quite shy and desperate to make people like me [saddo] but i do it by talking too much.

i was bullied at school so am am really sensitive to being left out (i.e. even when there is no need to be) but that overt show of ostracising is just mean! You said you had family in Bistol? if you visit you will be close to me.

I feel for you, i'm feeling bored and lonely too

Annobal at you passing out. hope you feel better soon.

mellymell · 10/01/2008 13:20

Milkyjammy - no different disguise - am Clapham based if that's helpful.

FairyFay · 10/01/2008 13:35

Hi everyone

Holly, that is crap - it sounds like you are best off out of there. Unfortunately sme groups are like that but they aren't all. I gave up on a couple and then found a nice one - caould you try somewhere else?

Annobal, that sounds horrid. Make sure you take it easy and get yourself to the gp if you don't feel any better

Everyone else, hellooooo

FairyFay · 10/01/2008 13:38

hello mellymell, welcome to June '07. We're all quite nice really, well most of us, most of the time

FairyFay · 10/01/2008 13:39

talking of June '07 members, where's Zelda these days? Has anyone else gone awol without me noticing?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 13:39

Mellymell are you Due June 08? Did you know this is the postnatal thread for babies born June 2007 (our blighters are all 6 months!).

Cower in a corner indeed, PAH!!

Welcome Mellymel

Who was it that asked if tuna was ok? Yes it is. According to my HV, blame her if not.

mellymell · 10/01/2008 13:46

Ooh - have just realised I've made a boob. Have been on the antenatal Jun 08 thread and didn't read the title of this one properly. Many apologies - will back out quietly before anyone notices! Lovely to meet you all, albeit briefly.

FairyFay · 10/01/2008 13:49

bye mellymell, don't be embarrassed. Good luck with your baby

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 10/01/2008 13:50

Tuna is ok in small amounts, but not too much due to small amounts of mercury that can be found in it.

Yeah, where is zelda? If you are lurking bloody well stop and make yourself known!!

Was I right in seeing a post from MHC from Disneyland? She is cool!

Welcome mellymel!!

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 13:53

On the topic of friends, I have never really had any.

I was always fat and totally un trendy and I liked horses and dogs and was sooooo not into hair and boys and makeup. Actually that hasn't much changed.
I was often called a lesbian or an elephant and fatso and 'Zep' (as in zepellin blimp) and I used to get notes put in my locker saying I would never get a boyfriend and stuff.
Nice hey.

And now I just don't seem to fit in really, only with other oddballs and nerds. At my last job I had something like 9 complaints made about me (about my management style) and was generally not liked.

I often say the wrong thing. I often talk to much and put my foot in my mouth. I don't always 'get' things like jokes and stuff.
But anyway.

I have had 29 years of it, I figure I am not going to change, even though I try sometimes. So I am used to it. Fortunately I don't mind my own company.

Ahhh there ya go another confession of the day. I am off to join WW now.
