ElfPolarBear · 27/12/2007 21:45

Thanks! Ouch you have sharp elbows
DH must have heard my thoughts as he dragged his sorry bum out of bed and rocked T to sleep. He's in his cot now (T, not DH) asleep and doing those upset little sleep sobs sniff-sniff-sob.
We're hoping that his body clock has just been thrown out by a few hours and a few enforced early nights will get him back to how he was. That, along with convincing him that it's bedtime, playing is over and he's

Yeah only took 2 nights with D. Although prob easier as he always used to be great at settling himself and had only lost that after being ill/growth spurts so needing to feed loads through the night and then got used to that and needed the cc to get him back to how he was. I do think it does normally start to get easier after 2 or 3 nights and sorted within a week. It feels alot longer than it actually is. But he slept well for you last night didnt he so worth doing. He'll be happier if he wakes up uin the night and can settle himself again rather than waking up and thinking omg wheres my mummy.

Not really one for hugs here either, I can manage a sympathetic head tilt, maybe a gentle hand on your shoulder briefly

ElfPolarBear · 27/12/2007 21:48

staying in his cot
Not sure what happened there
Sorry, I have been incredibly self absorbed recently, i have to say even though it's been T's first Christmas and he seems to have had a good time, I've not enjoyed it very much at all

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 21:50

I don't think I need to do cc, I just need you to do it elf. Joe slept through last night for first time in ages

Oh epb

fpesha · 27/12/2007 21:51

Yes my comment on waking up wasnt meant to be a judgement on people who dont, just reassurance for those who do iyswim. I think it all depends on the baby as much as anything.

fpesha · 27/12/2007 21:53

One thing I've learnt from 3 (and I've not learnt much so far or I would have stopped at 2! ) is that they are all so different and need and respond to different things.

ElfPolarBear · 27/12/2007 21:54

Well T has mostly been the same, I could put him in his cot when sleepy or asleep and he would be fine. Problem is he hasn't been getting sleepy until after 11 recently, it used to be between 8 and 9 which was perfect. Yes, the sleep last night was wonderful, we all needed it, think I had nearly 10 hours
Thanks for the head tilt

ElfPolarBear · 27/12/2007 21:57

massive x post
It took less time today (an hour yesterday, half an hour today) TBH I'm not sure if that's because it's working or because DH rocked him to sleep earlier.
I also worry that we're doing a half hearted attempt at cc - if we're going to do it, maybe we should be doing it properly. Just counting on the fact that all he needs is to get back into his good sleep habits, he never used to wake except for a feed, which is fine

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 22:00

don't stop Elf, we do seem to have inter-connected babies, they have bad nights together, so if you stop, I'll get the bad nights back

I think if he used to be really good then you shouldnt worry about being too strict about it iyswim. The 2nd night with D I just sat with my hand on his tummy not looking at him, took about 20 mins of crying and 10 mins of the sniff sniff sob and then he was osund asleep.

ElfPolarBear · 27/12/2007 22:04
