Hellooo.. things looking up here, went to my folks´ house yesterday and had a very relaxed day, all in all much more as it should have been on xmas day. So everything feels better. We all agreed that next year we´ll have to do things very differently and I for one will be holding them to it.

Love the comments/stories of the older little ones on the thread, they all sound very cute

[HUGS] to you dippy xxx

N is still full of cold, taking him to the dr. tomorrow just to get him to have a look as he´s been very rattly and chesty for a while now and it doesn´t seem to be shifting. Am fully prepared that he´ll shoo me out with rolling eyes but I´m just not sure...

Aargh can´t remember anything else of what I was going to write. Might have to start taking notes at this rate.

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 13:09

maveta, are you getting baby brain back again

OP posts:
Maveta · 27/12/2007 13:14

what have i done??

Maveta · 27/12/2007 13:18

would you mind sharing your login details for the which site with me aswell? We had a 0 maxi cosi which was fine and then BIL bought us the next stage seat but it´s some kind of chicco and I think it´s a 0-3 or something. I´ve always been a bit dubious about it (and was really peeved that dh didn´t tell him at the time that we needed to choose something like that ourselves, but that´s another story) and now that N needs to use it I´m putting my foot down that I´m not happy about it. It´s a shame because it´s brand new and too late to take it back (it´s been in the attic almost since N was born) but I´m not about to use it just because..

Anyway, upshot is i need to get a new one and am feeling very bamboozled.

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 13:18

well, when there's a mummy and a daddy that love each other, they have a special cuddle

have you???

OP posts:
iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 13:19

no problem, will email them to you, I signed up to a one month for £1 thing so that I could go on, so it will only work until 6th January

OP posts:
Maveta · 27/12/2007 13:24

lol am I under suspicion?? I assure you that special cuddles or not (sadly more of the not lately than I would like ) any baby brain I may have is down to N.. I am not. nor do I plan to be for the forseeable future, in the family way. No. way.

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 13:25

Still want to know who NGT is ....

Off swimming with girls ......

Maveta · 27/12/2007 14:06

Ok, I´ve read through the which site.. can I have opinions on babies of our age facing forward??

I thought you should try and wait til a year but then the which site seems to say weight is a more important factor. N is 9.5kgs and facing backward his feet touch the back of the seat so I think he would be better facing forward but am worried he´s too young? What are you all doing?

jingleoooggs · 27/12/2007 14:25

I thought that they stayed facing backwards (which is the safest way) until their heads were to the top of the car seat, not to worry about the legs part. Want to keep mine rear facing as long as possible.

anyweay only just read mavetas post - now off to Leicester for the funeral. Back tomorrow night - behave whilst I'm gone

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 27/12/2007 16:24

stupid cars!

maveta, ds is using a forward facing seat, from what i can gather it's safer rear facing but all english carseats say they go on weight and therefore, ds is too big for his 1st stage seat. Plus he was too heavy to lift in it and looked uncomfortabel all squashed in. his pre-accident seat was a maxi cosi and he looked quite small in it. But now he has a britax evolve and is wedged in(imo looks safer) but it lasts until they come out of a seat altogether so it must be meant to look wedge IYSWIM! just a case of getting used to the new one.

they are drving me nuts today. DS tired but won't sleep as he didn't nap at the usual time becuase i'm stupid and went out. DD driving me insane because she's bored. She needs preschool and i can't even take her to soft play as lets face it after 2 days in most people with kids will probably be there.

I braved the sales today, well sort of. Went to an outlet centre which dosen't have much there but enough to beat my sale craving but has made me depressed because 3 year olds an shops don't mix. To top it off I have been thinking alot about my mum over the last few days and I went in a shop to hear them playing the song from her funeral I love the song and was peeved when dad picked it because i knew when i heard it after that it'd make me sad. all i want to do today is cry. i want someone to come to my house tidy it, take all the shit away and give me a few precious quid for it as lets face it I have very little money. then i want them to look after the dcs whilst i go and lay in a dark room and either sleep or perhaps watch shit telly/films and eat chocolate. not very likely

sorry, little rant there

dh's best mates bday night out is sat night and i've told him i would come if we could find a babysitter. Now the only babysitters we have(overnight ones!) are dh's mum and step dad. On christmas day dh invited his brother and sil to come out too. Now their only babysitters are mil & step dad guess they'll just be asked to have 4 kids then OR more likely they'll ask before I can and i'll get to stay at home like usual. (I know it's late to ask anyway but that's how they are, if you ask a week or more in advance they get confused)

Oh and, my sister, very kindly, lent us her car, but dispite me asking her to put dh on the insurance too she didn't so now I have to drive everywhere and guess who craps out for new years eve drinking AGAIN ??????? FFS

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGH

Can you tell i'm pissed off today

Sorry think i just needed to let that out

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 27/12/2007 16:26

that's was a long post

Thank you to my secret santa I got a car, pink smarties, and mouse mat and mouse set and a pink scarf. All really nice, thank you so much

oh and forgot to ask, what was your worst christmas present?

Mine was a deep fat fryer from my dad and stepmother That'll be handy for losing weight

fpesha · 27/12/2007 18:07

Lol at worst present eddas, I did quite well really - nothing fancy from all family but all ok. Although dp and I got a present addressed to both of us with a pair of zebra slipper socks and a box of little xmas cookies. Now the cookies we can sure but think one slipper each might be a bit of a problem

Am also feeling like I need a break from the dc, I am soooooooooooooo tired. D was awake from 4 till 7 last night, still has a bad cough and sticky eyes He did go back to sleep from 7 till 10 so we stayed in bed (older dc came down to play with their toys!) but I didnt sleep well. And after my 3.5 hours sleep only on xmas eve on top of the ooh probably a year of broken nights its catching up with me abit now! I haven't had to do much the last 3 days in way of cooking as we've been at other people's but being out and about with all 3 is hard work. Especially as none of my family seem particularly understanding of young boys so have to work extra hard to try and keep control of him myself so noone else gets the opportunity to say anything to him cos then I'd get more p'ed off iyswim. Just want to be able to put all 3 dc to bed at 7 and that be it for the night but that just doesn't happen. Oh well, its not that bad really. I just felt like joining in the big moan

fpesha · 27/12/2007 18:09

Um that should be share not sure, dont know how that happened

Also meant to say sorry you're having such a crap time atm eddas

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 18:57

Maveta, it's when their head reaches the top they have to change seats altogether, as for facing forwards, when they are over 9kg and can sit unaided for at least 30mins they are fine. Joe is facing forward, partly because of having to get a new seat after the accident, he is safer in a forward facing seat than he would be in the only ones that go either forward or rear (britax) which fared very badly in crash tests. Having said that it is safer to keep them rear facing for as long as possible, but that can only really be done in the stage 0 bucket car seats, and Joe is far too big for his now!

OP posts:
fpesha · 27/12/2007 19:35

Whats 9kg in proper money then?

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 19:47

its about 20lb, 1kg is 2.2lb. Charlie is the same weight. Still no bf here, thats over 48 hours. Think he has decided that he's had enough. Still we've done 8 months. And it was his decision, not mine which made it easier. Still a bit sad though, might have to go and treat myself to some new bras!

iMustBeMad · 27/12/2007 20:04

excellent plan GMM
my gran said that all 3 of her children self weaned around 8/9 months

my lovely dp gave me an annual bonus today... Apparently i have meeted and exceeded all targets in my 'job' and therefore deserved a wedge of cash to spend on myself! Twas a lovely thought, he even wrote it all down on a piece of paper, all the things i have 'achieved' like feeding and stuff. Weird thing was we went into glasgow and i couldnt think of a single thing to buy, got a few bits of make up and that was it. Oh and you will be pleased to know i braved Next and got loads of bits for c with the vouchers he got for xmas. Made up for my disaster this morning! And its my birthday soon! Whoo hoo!

Extras on bbc 1 is supposed to be very funny tonight btw.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 27/12/2007 20:35

aww bless him, that is so sweet

ElfPolarBear · 27/12/2007 20:35

aargh leaving him to cry is the hardest thing I've ever had to do
Dippy, sorry you're feeling so stressed
hi everyone else

fpesha · 27/12/2007 20:40

Ah GMM thats lovely

20lb eh, think it'll be a while before D gets to that although he's also still not really sitting for long so wouldnt want to put him forward facing yet anyway. he can sit up but he doesn't really like it so he'll sit for a couple mins and then just leans backwards to lie down and play Which means I have to be there to catch him. He is frantically trying to crawl, he commando crawls at the moment!

DD didnt go into her 2nd stage car seat till she was well over a year, partly cos she was so dinky but also i didnt have a car and didnt go in one very often, mostly walked or got the bus, so didnt really need it.

D has just woken up coughing again, dp has gone to try and settle him but suspect he will want bf again (thats D not dp!). I really just need an evening where I can relax without kids waking up all night, go to bed knowing I dont have to get up until I wake up. Is that so much to ask...?

fpesha · 27/12/2007 20:43

It is hard EPB but think of the long picture, if it helps him to learn to settle himself then thats good for him aswell as you. And from what you said earlier he's angry rather than upset iyswim. D was the same, very angry that I wouldn't pick him up but it only took a couple of nights and now he's fine. Well he was fine till he got this horrible cough.
