Well it may have taken 2 grown adults 1/2 an hour to assemble Hungry Hippo, but it's a big hit!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 25/12/2007 14:24

Just a quick log on to wish you all Merry Christmas

I'm on babysitting fatigue at the moment whilst my sisters are at the hospice. DH and I will go in later with my brother and his wife.

Kids having a fab Christmas; babyboo is beside herself with excitement at her baby walker and DS is just a gibbering wreck, he's so giddy.

Hope everyone is having agood day, and I'll catch up when I can.

Ria...good to see your name again .

annobalthebignosereindeer · 25/12/2007 18:54

Merry Christmas everyone...

Thank you so much to my lovely and thoughtful secret santa who gave me some lovely goodies from Neal's Yard (my favourite) and some Green and Black's Choccy (also my favourite).

Hope everyone is having a lovely day and not too stuffed with turkey

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 25/12/2007 20:23

Well DH & me have just finished opening our presents and there are about 8 or 9 left over for DD tomorrow (we only got about half the presents opened before her bedtime, then we finished ours after tea). It's been great actually having it spread out so much, and the fun can continue tomorrow . DD was more into it than we thought she'd be, though to be fair it was mainly the paper she loved .

And a big, big thank you to my Secret Santa - a lovely cardi for DD that looks like Mrs Claus has been busy and nice festive bibs, and smellies and yummy Green and Black choccies for me .

Actually, lost of choccies for me overall, so I shall either have to be very restrained and ration them out over months and months, or have a huge choccie blow out before starting the diet!

Huge congratulations JBM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Happy Boxing Day everyone

BTW when I said that it looked that Mrs Claus had been busy with DD's cardigan, it was said in an admiring, appreciative way and I'm sorry if that didn't come across. Hand knitted stuff is lovely, and it's a shame that I'm so rubbish at it!

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/12/2007 07:19

Congrats to JBM - what a lovely surprise.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 26/12/2007 08:35

OOOOOOHHHHH JBM - how wonderful.....congratulations.....

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 26/12/2007 09:36

Congratulations jbm, that's great! How exciting!

god i need a frickin break. i know dh and my mum were here yesterday but my break consisted of cooking breakfast and cooking dinner.

now dh is back to work & i am supposed to be getting ready to drive to north wales but dd has other ideas.

i love her, i really do but i just want some time to myself. dh had only 1 day off for christmas. and when he works he does get back till 6.15, and when he gets back he is great, takes dd off my hands but she goes to bed about 8 .30 (though been much later the past 2 days) and bearing mind i have to feed her twice in that time...that's pretty much non stop from 7am till 7pm. sorry 'm whinging, it feels relentless. i'm going to stay with a friend today but all her family will be there and while they will want hold her etc. it's still not very relaxing as they will be strangers to her.

oh sorry to bring the thread down, all i want is for dd to have her morning nap and to be able to have a cup of tea IN PEACE!

Thanks MHC. If I just turn the tv volume up I won't hear her [joking] [a bit anyway]

BadZelda · 26/12/2007 11:14

I know how you feel bumper...am currently counting seconds till DH goes out with BOTH the kids for a bit....given that 'looking after them so I can have a bit of time off over christmas' consisted of him taking DD1 shopping with him....err you've forgotten the baby?

BadZelda · 26/12/2007 11:14

happy boxing day everyone...thank fuck that's christmas over for another year.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 26/12/2007 11:57

Hear hear BZ ....now for the MIL to go home....

foxythesnowman · 26/12/2007 12:10

over?

you mean, that was IT?????

foxythesnowman · 26/12/2007 12:34

Merry Christmas everyone!

Congratulations JBM & Mr JBM! Fab news.

Thanks to my SS! She was very generous and gave us some wonderful pressies (Both LO and I have matching leopard print slippers, which we are sporting at the moment - And a box game of Charades for my older ones which is just perfect for them!)

Boxing day is my favourite day - its my day to kick back. All the cooking done, just grazing and playing today. And I got to sleep in until 10.30!

Christmas Eve we were up until 1am wrapping pressies and putting the boys present together. Kids were good and didn't get up until 7.30. It was a very, very lovely day.

Helped along by the fact that everyone in this house is ill so quite happy to lie around watching films, and we don't have too much family nearby!

LO seems to be abit under the weather. I'm not sure if it was the copious bucks fizz I drank yesterday. It only occurred to me when I finished the bottle of fizz that the OJ might not be very good for her!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 26/12/2007 12:55

Having a quiet day here too (though I don't consider Xmas to be over), sorting out presents, playing with DD, watching last night's Doctor Who.

Can I ask what the weirdest/most rubbish present anyone got was? Can I put forward one of the gifts I got from my parents? They obviously couldn't think of anything particular to get for me, so I got a selection of little bits and bobs - fine by me, no complaints at the concept, and the socks, peanut butter and maltesers were great. But I was a bit at the (very cheap looking) plastic box containing 4 types of cotton buds and 4 types of cotton wool (neither of which I use more than a couple of times a year).

MIL on the other hand selected a lovely bag for me - the slouch bag from here in a lovely purple colour

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 26/12/2007 13:59

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a good time? I haven't quite caught up properly yet but Congratulations to JBM and for Trace about Chloe's hip. Also fotr all those who still have poorly DCs.

Thank you Santa for my scrummy looking biscuits and cookie cutters. The DCs and I will enjoy using them when all the madness is over!

We had a lovely day yesterday with far too much food and too many pressies. In fact DD refused to open hers after a while as she wanted to play with what she'd already got so we still have a pile of hers and DSs under the tree to open later today

Must go as we are still at my parents' so I shouldn't be unsociable for too long.

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 26/12/2007 14:16

hi all.

just for the record, I have boxing day blues. sorry.

we had a lovely day yesterday though. baggins was so good. DH cooked the roast veg for my mum and it took us til lunch to do that, get dressed and open presents. we then stayed at my parents until way after bedtime. Even my sister stayed until 8pm (her DH was ill with man-flu and hadn't come. I should name-change foe this comment but it changed the whole dynamic of the day as we just be "our" family and not stress about getting things right for other people or be on at the kids all the time to behave - they are never particularly bad, but he is a bit old-farty and uptight so noone is ever relaxed ...)

On the subject of weird presents, all ours were great (though DH was a bit at the shirt and tie - god forbid - and the mens nivea skincare I bought him, and DS1 was a bit disappointed with his present from my sis, but she bought it on the day she decided we were halving the kids present budget thus year because it was cheap!) but we play a game with "amusing prizes". DS2 was chuffed to win some jif! you have two packs of cards, dealing one evenly between the players and the dealer has the other pack. if you match the card the dealer calls you take a mystery wrapped gift from the pile in the middle and so on. when the original pile of presents is gone you then "steal" prizes from other players when you match up. when the dealer runs out of cards you get to unwrap and keep your prizes. That makes it sound complicated but its very funny (though a bit hard on over excited kids).

I suppose I should get dressed and embrace a family boxing day...

How lovely jmb, congratulations.
