Oh Daisy have I missed you? If you're still there quick qust about nappy rash. Seem to remember you had probs with Babyboo's bum?

TALLUBAHHUMBUGBELL · 19/12/2007 23:56

JBM did you catch my earlier post to you?If DD wakes up 10 min after falling asleep then I would say give her a chance to settle back herself - just a few min to be sure she is properly awake & needing reassurance. If crying escalates then try to resettle her as before. I was told to always respond to her crying but also to take a step back & assess if I actually need to do anything. So advice a bit contradictory but I take it that if you respond too quickly you may waken them completely when really they are just stirring in their sleep & will drop back off unassisted.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 20/12/2007 09:29

gah! boiler's broken, so no heating or hot water! now I have to wait in all day for engineer. i have friends coming over, it's like an ice house here & and a complete state where I am trying to slowly wrap all the pressies. and because I am full of cold I keep sweating at night and it's total milk sweats, urgh so I stink arrrgggghhhhhh!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 20/12/2007 09:55

Oh Bumper - your poor thing. At least you've got someone who can get out today to sort the boiler - have you got a convector fire or anything you can plug in and keep one room warm?

I've got a nightmare of a headache this morning - I slept in the spare room last night hoping for a decent nights sleep away from all the snoring and coughing and spluttering I had next to me the night before....but I woke up coughing and spluttering ...DD was as good as gold and didn't need me at all during the night...but I did have to chisel the snot off her face this morning

Tescos are delivering a £150 Xmas food shop today....oh joy!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 20/12/2007 09:56

bumper, I hope you get some heat back soon.

Do you ever get the feeling that it's just one thing after another? I'm beginning to think I must've done something really bad in a previous life!

Slept in BIG style today, DD was up twice in the night, I was up several times coughing, so I must've switched the alarm off and gone back to sleep. I woke up at 8:20 and had packed lunch and party food to sort out, uniform and party clothes to iron, and shoes to polish as well as DSs maths homework to help with.

Needless to say we were about 15 mins late for school and had to report to the office (down two flights of stairs and no ramp either so had to bump the pram down and back up again ). Poor DS was distraught; he's never been late before.

.....and I trod in a big pile of steaming cat sick in my bare feet

By the way I'm fairly sure that facebook message is rubbish!

Firstly if they really wanted to know who was using the site they could just use their login stats, much easier than seeing who copies and pastes a piece of text, secondly, where did the message even come from? I only got it from you guys so if you hadn't copied it to me and I hadn't seen it I would screwed? Why wouldn't they just email us? Also no way would facebook want to curtail members, it's not in their interest.

I think it is either a prank, a social experiment (see here internet meme (there'll probably be an article about it soon! Some journo started it no doubt) or a way of increasing traffic to the site (probably linked to advertising revenue).

You see if I'm right

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/12/2007 09:58

Poor you Bumper. I am trying to manage without putting heating on all day, but would hate to be totally without, and especially with no hot water.

Had very bad night last night. DD woke at 7.45, 10.15, 11.30, 12.00, 1, 2.15 and ended up in bed with us at 3.30. Then up at 6.30 I notice she is snotty-nosed this morning, so that might be part of it I suppose?

HellHathNoFury · 20/12/2007 09:58

Bumper that sucks dick. It's so cold as well, you poor sods.

I have bronchitis. Woohoooooooo

I feel like a hypochondriac, always sodding ill, but I doooooo!!!

DS is grumpy and doesn't like me any more because I am so tired and ill (he is waking 3/4 times a night for foods atm, nice one) that I am not a very pleasant mum and so he has decided that I suck and he is going to get his kicks elsewhere. Can't say I blame him to be honest.

On the plus side, I see DH again tonight/ tomorrow, I haven't seen him in a week.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 20/12/2007 09:59

what FB message?

OP posts:
WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 20/12/2007 10:00

Oooh I am right, I am right! see snopes (down the bottom of the page).

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/12/2007 10:02

ew to cat sick Daisy. been there myself. I have also trodden on a slug barefoot, also ew.

I was dubious about that fb message too bumper, but confess i forwarded it to one person (who i know is offline at the moment so won't be bothered by it, as i hate enforced forwarding/inviting) just in case. but having done that once i'm just deleting any future copies of it.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 20/12/2007 10:04

LOL at "sucks dick"!

Sorry you are so poorly fury, and you and jammy must be knackered!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 20/12/2007 10:06

ah, now I see, but what does the hoaxer achieve? I can't see the point of that particular hoax at all, unless started by the "host" themselves to generate more traffic?

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 20/12/2007 10:06

I think we both are

the night before I only got 3 hours sleep. I confess this mothering lark can be a bit crap sometimes. If DH comes tonight I am going on the couch and he can do the night duties, I'm having a night off.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 20/12/2007 10:07

Norty too...sorry your are now feeling poorly.

Daisy, i don't know how you are keeping it together at the moment

God we are a right miserable bunch aren't we?

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 20/12/2007 10:08

where's your DH fury?

Are you taking anything to boost your immune system? garlic capsules, echinacea, Bvits are all good!

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 20/12/2007 10:08

I think lots of those chain messages are just pointless, they achieve nothing. If FB really wanted stats they sure as hell wouldn't use chain messages which would be virtually impossible to monitor anyway.

HellHathNoFury · 20/12/2007 10:10

DH is finishing redecorating the house while I am in Essex at my folks place.
Also my little sis flew in from the US a few days ago so spending some quality time with her. Well I will when she gets out of bed ;-)

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 20/12/2007 10:11

Daisy don'tt think they want to achieve anything except notoriety. tis very common, it's like all those scaremongering emails about people getting raped etc.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 20/12/2007 10:13

ouright denial and letting my house fall apart around my ears bumper....works every time!

I've just realised that I can't remember the last time I bathed my children . I'm pretty sure DD had a bath last Friday, but I don't think DS has been fully immersed in water since swimming on the 10th ...unless DH has given him a shower since then.

OP posts:
TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 20/12/2007 10:14

off to bath my stinky DD

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 20/12/2007 10:16

Blimey - go to put some washing on and everyone turns up and chats like mad in 5 mins flat! Morning all

Must admit I deleted those messages and thought they were a load of bollocks......I never forward on any of those shit e-mails "foward this to 10 people in 5 minutes or you'll get bad luck" etc....I just press delete!

Daisy...I think you need to cut yourself some slack....you're not going through the easiest time in the world atm and being a bit late for school isn't the worst thing....difficult for a 5 year old to understand I'm sure but don't beat yourself up about it.....its always the way, one thing goes wrong and everything else goes tits up....

TinselTrace2 · 20/12/2007 10:24
