i need to rant.... why do old people/disabled people think they have a divine right to park in a parent and child spot (are they even allowed) i'm sure theyd have something to say if I parked in a disabled spot. this has happened to me like 7 times in the last month were an old person has stolen the last parent and child spot! rant over. On another note when did everyones babies get the hang of sitting up properly ds can do it for like a sec on his own then either face plants or falls sideways. hes almost 8 months!

MaGratgarlik1983 · 21/04/2016 21:39

DS only started sitting up properly a few days ago and he's just eight months. Worse with the parent and child spaces.is when obviously single people take them!! Got shouted at in a cafe today for trying to sit outside...almost the weekend!

Thanks ladies, thanks Hippo for your book recommendation. R is tricky because he's in our room (we haven't got anywhere else to put him) so he just stands up in his cot and screams at us (well, me, as DP has been working late and sleeping on the sofa). It's also complicated by the reflux and feeding problems. He's barely getting the minimum milk needed for calories and micro nutrients. His meds have just been increased by the paediatrician, so hopefully that will help. He's nearly on the maximum dose so god knows what we 'll do when that stops working. We're looking into a sleep consultant type person as I think we need someone objective to give us a tailored plan to follow, as we're totally lost in this now.

Carrot I'm with you. I feel like all I do is snap at P and tell him I'm too busy to play with him. He's also having to spend loads of time on his own while I wrestle an exhausted R down for his naps. I really don't like myself right now.

Can't believe that Prince has died.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 22/04/2016 09:58

Yorkshire, yes we're in London and the schools situation is out of control. The catchment for our closest school (5 mins walk away) is 280 metres.

TriJo · 22/04/2016 20:05

Never too early for wine!

End of a week with my parents here, had a lovely time and my mum is now very attached to C! He's cluster-feeding like crazy though, I got back to the house at 5pm today and it was nearly 7 by the time he was sleepy enough to stop feeding for more than five minutes at a time...

cookielove · 23/04/2016 12:10

Hello all :)

I am on holiday at the moment it has really screwed up E's sleeping Sad but he is still having fun which is good! We are off to Toronto zoo today they have baby pandas awwww!!

JuniDD · 23/04/2016 12:27

Hello mums, how's it going? Lots of names I don't know but some I recognise. DDis 18 months now can you believe it?! Venturing back on to me to see how I get on. Extremely busy with work/study/life but all good and uni nearly done now. Hope you're all keeping well xx

purpleporpoise · 23/04/2016 13:20

We finally have a tooth! He's extremely grumpy but is meant to be according to the wonder weeks!
He's off his food as well which isn't like him, although he still likes biscuits!

juni!!! Hi :)

hippopolalaa · 23/04/2016 22:03

Juni! La here!

Glad you got there safely cookie! Enjoy the pandas!

Hooray for tooth purple, if he's teething it might be that that's making him less interested in food?

Just done the 'getting to bed without waking baby' dance. Elaborate and slow. Night!

Hobbit19 · 24/04/2016 18:33

Teething here too, poor little bean.

Hippo, when you did your sleep training did that involve night weaning B at the same time?

ZylaB · 24/04/2016 19:14

pud I found night weaning was what really seemed to sort out night times. That said she was 1 and it is was bloody time she started sleeping properly ;)

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 24/04/2016 20:46

cookie if you're in Toronto you must go for poutine. There's a great place on West Queen West near the Drake Hotel. OMG so jealous!

Glad you're getting some sleep Hippo

Flowers to those feeling tired and jaded.

lil I did yoga trousers and a big button down top with trainers for going home in and favourite PJ'S for in hospital. I recommend some nice maternity outfits and bringing nice shower stuff plus creams and makeup. Induction can be a long process and being able to do your hair and makeup is really good for morale and thE crushing boredom. I saved up a few months worth of samples from my Birchbox subscription so I had nice luxury bits to try along with a mini deodorant and toothpaste/toothbrush. I left them all in the bag and they came in handy when I was admitted again week before last.

Still feeling a bit pants but getting on with life. Mini is 5 weeks today. She's sleeping ok but still up 3x a night for feeds so I keep waking up to her beside me instead of in the chicco as I'm exhausted. Just boobing her now then handing her of to DP. He'll give her formula for her next feed so hopefully I can get 4 hours in a stretch and feel a bit rested...

Had family visiting this week and it went a bit sideways. Has anyone else noticed the arrival of a new baby seems to precipitate strange behaviour in older relatives? I've had 2 separate incidents of people I'm not particularly close to really overstepping boundaries where my children are concerned... Thank goodness I'm an expat and DP's family mostly leave us alone!

hippopolalaa · 24/04/2016 21:09

Pud. Yes I night weaned at same time. I was surprised at how easy it was. He was 8 months though - how old is she now?

Sky glad you're feeling a bit better, but I hear you with the frustrating relatives! My in laws are a bit odd and the catch phrase in response to my parenting decisions is 'I don't remember it being this complicated when Dh was young!'. No because you were on acid the whole time your kids were young and it's a miracle they are unscathed!

He's waking up every morning at 5:30am now. Yuck! Any tips? I give him drunk of water and put him back down. He doesn't go to sleep but just plays quietly until 7.

Purple for first time ever today B fed himself a banana and didn't gag at all. So do keep persevering and coming back to any foods he won't eat.

Hobbit19 · 25/04/2016 02:38

Hippo, she is only 4 months so too young for night weaning so I am planning ahead! I also need her to sleep through by the summer so that AF returns and we can ttc again! At the moment she is waking up 3 to 4 X a night and I know that she is not hungry at all of them because sometimes she will feed for 3 minutes and be back asleep. Also, she used to just do one wake up! I didn't feed her at 11pm tonight when she woke, and she then slept until now and is currently having a feed. She will probably wake again at 5am for another feed. What was the name of the book you used again? It will probably take me 4 months to read it!

Hobbit19 · 25/04/2016 02:40

Hippo, that is awesome about the banana, ell done B and we'll done you!

Sympathies Sky, that sounds really tough. DH doing some night feeds is a good call. How old is your LO now?

ZylaB · 25/04/2016 06:57

pud ttc in the summer? You're mental ;)

Morning Viroids! I'm tentatively poking a toe onto the Fred....I've got 10 day old preemie twins in NICU, so I'm technically a mum, it just doesn't feel like it yet!!

hippopolalaa · 25/04/2016 10:17

Hi mermaid! La here! (Recently NC for a change)

You are definitely a mum!! You're doing brilliantly lovely, I'm following your story on the facebook group. You are so incredible and they are just beautiful.

hippopolalaa · 25/04/2016 10:18

I've only it one week left of mat leave viroids! Confused where did it go!? I'm going back two days a week and he'll be with Dh. Excited but also dreading it.

JuniDD · 25/04/2016 14:43

Ah la going back to work is a bit mad but also rather nice Grin. Lovely that he'll be with his daddy. (I've taken to referring to MrJ as "papa" which DD copies. Hilaire!)

zyla how's it going? What's little zy up to?

ZylaB · 25/04/2016 19:37

juni little Zy is ace! She's so so funny! Clingy, but funny :) (and I might be just a little bit upduffed again ;) ) how are you and miniJuni?

ZylaB · 25/04/2016 19:38

Hey mermaid so so definitely a mummy! And working your socks off at it too!

Hobbit19 · 26/04/2016 02:48
