If hes asleep he more than likely isn't hungry!

as long as he is alert and himself while he's awake i wouldnt worry. remember your body grows while you are asleep so he's probably jsut having a spurt!

i always used to know when dd was growing coz she didnt stop eating for a week then didnt stop sleeping for a week!

as for food and ds well he doesnt like milk! every time i put a bottle in his mouth its a battle of wills, i know hes hungry, he knows hes hungry yet he wont drink it! today we have managed midnight 1 oz, 5am 5 oz, 9am 4oz, midday 1 oz, 4pm 5 oz! i dispair i really do!!! (any bottles we get more than 1 oz i have to give him his dummy till he's nearly asleep and then take it out his mouth quick and replace it with the bottle hoping he doesnt notice!!)

saralou100 · 19/02/2007 16:50

stacey, do you think it might be the bottle teat ds doesn't like? my ds1 as like this, hated the tommee tippee bottles, wouldn't take it, but loved avent and had no problems!

debssy, second what stacey said, as long as he's his normal self when he's awake! baby's eat sleep and poo (not necesarily in that order!)

fun today, had to take ds1 to a&e as he stuck bread up his nose... oh the joys that we have!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 19/02/2007 17:05

Hi again - anyone know what the signs of teething are? Taro is barely two months old, but he's suddenly become really restless - dribbling a bit, chewing his clothes (and octopus leg) and really biting down when I put my finger to his mouth (he also occasionally 'bites' when breatfeeding - ouch!)I know it can happen early - my neice was actually born with a tooth! Occasionally he quietens down when he can bite on the ear of his 'chewy bear' (a teddy bear/rattle/teething combo item) - otherwise he's almost impossible at the moment.

However he also had his immunisation last week - although I was lead to believe that any symptoms of that would come out sooner (we did have a grouchy evening that time).

Can't see any other reason for his restlessness (no temperature or snotty nose at moment) - any ideas...

LA

staceym11 · 19/02/2007 17:46

LA i would think thats prob the immunisations, they generally get restless the same night and around 7-10 days after i think!

i have no idea, might try getting some new teats and see if that helps, had avent with dd so jsut used the same, never even thought he might not like them!

Hi all and welcome to Katy & Cara Growth spurts are not funny but they do pass - eventually...

Debbsy, sounds like it might be a growth spurt as the others have said - can you have a word with my DS about sleeping through them and not feeding every 90 mins?? I have slings btw inc a coorie but I didn't use it as I have the same issue as mygirl and it seemed too long for my little short body I have 2 wilkinet slings which are fab, DS loves facing outwards now he is a bit bigger. counted the number of slings we have collected today and we have 7 of which I have only used 2

KaybeeandZak · 19/02/2007 21:03

Hi everyone
my ds has been sleeping really well at night, but has been having the worst screaming fits in the day. It's really awful, he goes absolutely mental, holds his breath, coughs and chokes - all at 3 months old!!! I just don't know what to do with him!

Debbsyandson · 19/02/2007 21:58

my girl, the joys of teething... something to look forward to! ds1 is addicted to bonjella i'm sure of it!

right, gonna go wake him up..............

Charleesunnysunsun · 20/02/2007 20:26

Hi everyone, i thought i would just check in and say hi!

I haven't read all the posts so forgive me for not replying directly to you all.

Harry is ok although i did take him to the Dr's yesterday, he keeps having bloody discharge from his nipples! It was a stand in Dr who didn't even look she just said it was fine and normal, but im not convinced so i think i will wait untill next week when our normal Dr is back and take him then.
He has had a bad cold this past week so he's not a happy chappy but so were having huge screaming fits but still getting loads of grins and smiles. He's a real Daddy's boy he loves his dad so much he always giggles and laughs for him!
He's fast becoming a giant baby already in 6-9 months clothes but he's long rather than fat, he despeartley wants to stand up he's really strong on his legs.

Jacks doing well were just getting used to fitting in all the physio and everything and im getting good at remebering all his medication each day he's on so much of it im suprised he doesn't rattle!

DP and i are both fine, we just had a lovley meal (even if i do say so myself!) of Beef stirfry followed by a chocolate fondu with strwberries and fresh thick double cream! Yummers!

Were gettig on really well at the moment we seem to have got so much closer over the past few weeks he's really been a rock to me.

Hark at me becoming all slushy!

Best go, thanks for all your kind messages and mygirl thanks for your offer of a chat i will email you sometime.

hiya all!

Still here and pop in now and then to check all are okay! Very quiet though - guess we're all sooooo busy now.

All I have to say at the moment has been heard on here many times..............DS won't sleep much at night, - feeds huge amounts, HV annoying, I'm exhausted....yadda yadda

So until now I haven't posted. If anything changes I'll let you all know!!

saralou100 · 21/02/2007 15:27

oooh charlee, you sound positively sunny!!

ryans 14lb 5oz now, chunky monkey

went for ds1's 2 yr check... he's 28lbs! he has to have a hearing test just to make sure, otherwise he'll need a SALT referral in a couple of months if he doesn't start talking soon.

Debbsyandson · 21/02/2007 20:15

Charlee glad things are looking up for you x
Bethbe (((((((hugs))))))

BlimeyoReilly · 21/02/2007 22:16

Hi all, haven't posted for ages but thought i would let you know we are still around! Hope everyone is well.

Paige is doing really well and is now 11 lb 01 oz and growing at a rate of knots. She is sleeping through most nights and is really showing an interest in everything around her, lots of smiles from my perfect little girl!

Thinking about giving her some baby rice soon as she is showing a real interest in us eating and when handed a chip today (just to see what she would do) she promptly started licking and sucking it. Just a bit unsure as she is not an over hungry baby - she is doing exactly what SMA say she should be doing should you give them food before they start screaming for more milk all the time?

Mygirl Paige also does the straightening of the fingers making herself sick but I think she has realised the effect after about a week and is not doing it so often, either that or two fists in the mouth at the same time does not alow enough room (lol) i think its because her gums hurt as she is showing signs of teething.

Sorry for the marathon post!

podglet · 22/02/2007 09:09

Hi all,

Hugs Bethbe, from another non sleeper. DS is doing really well though, we have had quite a good week (with the exception of DP but that's another long, and boring, story)

DS has a really cute thing where he smiles at all new people to see if they smile back (am sure am being a soppy mummy and everyone else's babies do this too ) but last night I had the news on at 6 and he was sitting on my lap and I caught him grinning at Natasha kaplinsky and the other chappy on the telly, trying to get them to smile back at him!!! Made me laugh my head off

Off on the train today to meet my mum for lunch. She's only 20 mins away on the train and the station is a 5 mins walk so it will be lovely... also Chelmsford has an H&M kids so will be having a peek in there!

Charlee - good to hear you sounding much sunnier

Debbsyandson · 22/02/2007 09:22

Hi podge have a lovely day, i know what you mean about the smiles they are just ace arent they?
Oh dont worry im not absconding if anyone sees me on the dec postnatel thread ive joined thst too,as ds was late and he is more in sync with them,as i panicked the other day on here when reading about babys weight as had ds weighed yesday he is 12lbs 9 ozs but ipanicked as everone elses babies seem heavier, then i realised some are 3 to 4 weeks older

KaybeeandZak · 22/02/2007 09:55

Debbsy, I am the same as you, I started panicking hearing about what the other lo's weighed, then realised that ds is only just 3 months now, so a bit younger than lots on here!!

DS still sleeping well at night, 10.5 hours last night! But daytime is still a battle. I know I should think myself lucky that we sleep at night, but it's so stressful during the day here on my own when ds is so overtired and bawling his head off....

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/02/2007 10:33

God dont panic Debs! DS is 15 weeks now and he only wieghs 12.5 but as long as your lo is gaining on each weigh in then he will be fine!
