morning all!!

stacey, nappies are easy.. although i dreaded it before using them with ds1! i do the same as mygirl by using disposables when i'm out! havent started using them yet with ryan, i did have a big tidy out in the boys room yesterday and got them all out ready to, just wanna give them a wash 1st!

ryan slept in his cot for the 1st time last night he's too big for his moses basket so it had to be done. missed my little dude snuffling next to me, but he slept well and got up at 6! ds1 on the other hand had me up from 4-5am! it's the wrong way round the one that should be giving me sleepless nights is asleep and the toddler keeps me up! wrong, very wrong

Debbsyandson · 16/02/2007 20:13

Charlee so sorry to hear you have had more bad news hun (((((hugs))))

podglet · 17/02/2007 15:28

Charlee - so sorry to hear about the further bad news. Sending lots of hugs for you all.

Stacey, I use "real" nappies on DS although we don't use them overnight or for long days out. this is a brill website with loads of useful info on. I have about 10 nappies in the current size of various sorts, I have a small nappy bucket which I empty every other day to wash the nappies. I use a soaker (think it is called Nappysan) in the bucket with a couple of drops of tea tree oil. My nappies take about a day o dry on the radiators but IIRC you have a tumble so they should be easy to dry. I love them and find they leak less often than disposables...

Any q's, just post on here or let me know if you want my email

Got both sets of g parents coming for dinner tonight. first time they will have all have seen each other since DS was born.

Hope everyone is ok.

schmizaj · 17/02/2007 15:45

I'm sure you are due some good news Charlee, try and look after yourself.

I also use real nappies half the time, disposables for night time and going out. Make sure you have the liners, the thin bits of paper which you can flush down the loo after every change. I have a net in the nappy bucket so just lift the net out and into machine so I don't have to touch ickky napsters. I have some sanitiser stuff which I just add to normal machine powder. Bambino mio, don't know if that is really necessary though.

Also check out your council's website, most have some financial incentive to use reusables. I got £40 worth of nappies, wraps and liners through Essex CC for £5 incl postage! They are really lovely thick shaped ones too. Plus get discounts on any further ones I buy.

Verity now waking up loads during the night, more than she ever did when first born. Thought they were meant to sleep longer in a stretch not less often..... We give her all the food she can possibly drink, even giving formula to make sure she has enough but not making a difference, think maybe she is in a bad pattern now.

Charlee - Sorry to hear your news - Big Hug to you all
stacey - Sorry, I am terrible and have only ever used disposables for ds and dd
I haven't posted for a while on here as I have been having some problems with dh - too much to go into on here but I have been preoccupied with my other thread - sorry On a positive note, I took Freya to be weighed on Thursday and she was 13lbs 10.5oz! .... she likes her milk

podglet · 18/02/2007 13:44

schmizaj - I got the same deal from essex cc (am in Colchester) - it's good isn't it? The wraps are my favourite, they fit ds really nicely.

How old is your DD? They have big growth spurts at 12 & 16 weeks (approx) so is it that? DS went through a week of waking every 2 hours through the night when he was 14 weeks old. It's not nice, I cured it by ignoring one of his wake ups (he wasn't crying) and he sent himself back off to sleep for another 2 hours after about 10 mins of wriggling in his crib... so I assumed he was using me as a comfort feed when perhaps he didn't really need it.

staceym11 · 18/02/2007 19:55

Thanks for the info people, i will look at my council website and see if i can get a deal/money back, that would be great. had to borrow money from my mum to get them, but managed to get a whole nappy nation pre-fold set, birth-potty (24 size 1, 4 wraps, 24 size 2, 4 wraps, 18 size 3, 4 wraps) for £114.50 including postage, and the woman had only used 3 of the nappies in all, think thats well brill! (i love ebay!)

KatyR · 18/02/2007 22:29

morning... mygirl, i'll watch your lot for an hour whilst you sleep, if you watch mine after tired too! is something playing on your mind thats keeping your eyes open? i heard a good tip the other day for getting off to sleep, look up at one of the corners in your bedroom and then start listing objects you can see without moving your eyes... it works, i've tried it!! only managed to list a few things before my eyes got tired!

KatyR · 19/02/2007 12:33

Thanks for welcomes
Stacey DD has also decided evenings are for sleeping! Stupidly we thought it was great as for once we had dinner without one of us clutching a screaming baby - at 3am I was less impressed!
