i met an 18year old once that still sucked a dummy...

staceym11 · 30/01/2007 10:48

really sara?

I know i still sucked my thumb at 13 but 18 and a dummy?!?!

staceym11 · 30/01/2007 10:50

well just dropped dd off at my mums and now waiting for dh to come home for us to go to a docs appt at the hospital, the hv was quite worried about the shape of ds's head as one side has suddenly gone quite severely flat, she thinks it may be why hes been so sleepy and not eating properly as it may be pressuring something in his brain. panicking a litte bit but hopefully the hospital will put our minds at rest or at least be able to tell s exactly what is going on.

must go and sort a bag out for the hospital. will let you all know when i do!

saralou100 · 30/01/2007 10:59

yup... saw her sleeping with it in her mouth.. the most amazing thing i've ever seen, we still talk about her now! i sucked my fingers till well into my teens too (apparently i still do, but only when exremely stressed or tired)

good luck at the hospital stacey.. again i've met someone whose ds had this problem, i think it was more of a cosmetic issue luckily for him, but he did have to wear a special hat to reshape his head!

Stacey, I also have a friend whose daughter has something similar where she has to wear a helmet for a couple of months. Like others have said, it's more cosmetic than anything. But good luck at the hospital and we are thinking of you!!

staceym11 · 30/01/2007 16:13

right panick over, hospital said nothing wrong, keiran hasnt lost weight so no worry about the sleepyness just yet unless he really stops eating and they've given us loads of tips to get him to look the other way so his head starts to sort out, if it doesnt start to sort out he'll have a helmet thing. still a bit but not quite so panicky now i know its not putting pressure on his brain!

saralou100 · 30/01/2007 19:42

what a relief then stacey!!

ds1 has been on anadventure today!! he's mashed banana into the carpet and all over ryan's playmat.. then he stuck paper up his nose, i just hope i've got it all out.. don't really know what to do??? !!!

in between all that though i did manage to get ryan weighed and he's now 12lb 7oz (porky pig ) and is 64cm's long

i had a friend come over today with her dd who's 2 days yonger than ryan, she was born 5wks early though, and was sooooooo tiny the size difference between them was hysterical!

that instillls me with (no) hope then!!!!!!!

i've been scrubbing at it with no joy, theirs slimey mess everywhere!!!!!

staceym11 · 30/01/2007 21:05

OH sara, poor you. dd has neverquite managed to be that adventurous with things, but then again shes gunna turn into a teenage hormone machine whereas your ds will just grunt at you and hide in his room! lol, iv got the nice banana mess to come with my boy then?!?! lol

well dd went to bed with no dummy and only a little bit of screaming, she was quiet before we left the room! the dummy fairy is coming to get her dummies tonight and leave her a present! hopefully it'l be that easy but i think we might have some come back later in the week when she realises they aint coming back! looking fwd to that

Well last night she slept brill didnt wake up till 6.45 asking for dummy but she came and found the box we put them in and said fairy been, then found her present (which was one of the seven dwarfs with his bed, quilt, teddy and no dummy!!) so she said she'll go to bed tonight with no dumy, iv told her if the dummy fairy comes back tonight and shes asleep with no dummy she'll get a sticker and when she's got seven stickers she can get another dwarf and bed! what do people think?

been putting ds the other way round for everything and he doesnt seem bothered, just a bit of a pain feeding him on the other arm iv only ever bottle fed on one arm! lol

well dh is home sick off work today, being a pain and getting angry at dd when she strops, shes 2, what does he expect?!

stacey, like that little plan! i have to sort out ds1's dumy addiction soon and i'm not looking forward to it!

well, dp is having his vasectomy on monday! and i've just realised how final that is.. have to go buy him some sexy pants later!

staceym11 · 31/01/2007 14:26

cool at least it sounds good to everyone else and not just me!

mummy to T+F iv got one of the parcels with the vests in, will prob recieve the other tomorrow, our post must be odd! lol

fatbetty · 31/01/2007 16:17

Good plan Stacey about the dummies! I think I was just more worried about giving up the dummies rather than DS1 and DS2. They didn't seem to really care after a day or two.

Have DD jabs tonight. Ah, not looking forward to it. Hopefully she won't be too affected by it.

Mummy2TandF · 31/01/2007 20:29

stacey - I love your plan for a dummyless dd , if only I thought it would work for ds! Mind you, we have had dummyless days now since Monday - we have been leaving it his bed in the daytime ..... he only ever had it in his bed at first but when I had dd and dh looked after him, it seemed to be "a dummy for all occassions(sp?)" - Oh well one step at a time We have had 2 wees on the toilet today and 1 poo, so we are making progress there as well - I can't wait till I only have 1 nappy to change! ... very strange about the parcels, they were posted at exactly the same time - the other one was heavier though, so you should get it tomorrow, a couple of those vests might be a bit small but I thought I would send them just incase, I have no use for them anymore - I am drowning in pink LOL!

Debbsyandson · 31/01/2007 22:36

Blimey Debbsy, they're mean!

But I guess you can understand their frustration!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 01/02/2007 20:52

Hello everyone

just to let you know that Taro and I are still around - haven't got time to read everything - or really to write these days. Having 'great' fun trying to establish a routine especially at night - seem to have morning sussed (although getting anything done before 10 seems almost impossible) - being messed around regarding my maternity pay - too long a story at the moment. Taro last weighed in (over a week ago) at just under 12lbs. Measuring 59cm. Health visitor very pleased with his progress - not so impressed with mine - as I seem a little depressed. GP not so worried but put me on long waiting list for counsellor anyhow. To top it all all three of us (DP included) have terrible colds - must go now - I'm being summoned.

See ya all and have fun

LA

staceym11 · 01/02/2007 21:10

mummytotandf- iv got the other parcel, yeh a couple of the vests are a bit small but iv got a load of stuff for offer on freecycle so they'll og on there to somebody who needs them, dont worry they wont go to waste!

debs how mean! im at them, you were only wishing well, some people have no manners! as said below b*llox to them!

well ds has started eating again finally, hopefully he'l put soem weight on this week! he had a screaming fit this eve, think he got overtired and just couldnt calm down! we all went out for a walk with ds in the carrier and he calmed down before we walked out the door!

well another uneventful bedtime for us. dd was up 7.20 this morning and didnt even mention the dummy, she did ask for her sticker tho! which she got a a big kiss saying shes a big girl etc etc. she even had a nap today and didnt as for it! she did ask for it at bedtime but i asked her where it was and she said it's gone to the babies that need them! im really proud of her acctually i thought we'd have more of a fight than this!

Debbsyandson · 02/02/2007 10:31
