Have you tired any buckle carriers essie?

No explosive shites today so hopefully that means minipopz is recovered! He also ate a whole tin of spaghetti hoops for tea. A whole tin!!!

Just tricked him into going to bed early by starting his bedtime routine an hour earlier than usual! Ha! Grin If only I had wine....

cookielove · 15/12/2015 20:22

Hello all.

I have been missing in action recently, E is finally getting over his month of illnesses and back to eating.

Wow, I really feel for the mothers of heavy babies. My back struggles with, he is heavier but older. Actually that reminds me I need to get him weighed.

zyla I have a pickle bum hm who won't go to sleep like i trained him

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 15/12/2015 21:23

popz what are buckle carriers? Not sure of the different types. I ought to go to sling library.

Bloody hell a whole tin of hoops that's impressive!

cookie long time no 'see'! Sorry to hear you've had lurgies.

Little llama is distraught this evening and I had to break out the calpol again. Think he's got a sore throat. He sounds really raspy. Sad

LaLaLaaaa · 16/12/2015 02:15

Essie buckle carrier is one of the structured ones like an ergo or baby bjorn. Ergo is great and you can put them on your back, front or hip (plus front outward facing if you have the 360). I've just started putting B in the back of mine - they need to be able to hold head up steadily before you do it. Sling libraries usually have some type of buckle carrier for you to try.

Calpol states on it that it can be used to alleviate symptoms of cold or flu so I always take that to mean snotty nose or cough as well as fever etc. so I give calpol if he has snotty nose. Hope little llama feels better soon :(

Glad minipopz and E are feeling better.

MiniLa just slept 7-1:30! I woke in blind panic at 12 because he had t woke up yet but he was fast asleep!!!

LaLaLaaaa · 16/12/2015 02:17

I've borrowed a woven wrap and a ring sling from the library. Ring sling seems ok but I'm struggling with getting ring in the right place. Will need to post up a photo on the Facebook group once I've mastered it! The wrap I'll save for a day when I've got brain power as its really long and I'm dreading trying to figure it out!

Pisghetti · 16/12/2015 03:33

I've recently bought a ringsling La and I had to get advice this week about placement as the rings were always ending up between my boobs rather than 'corsage level'. The advice was to start with them very high up on your shoulder then as you tighten up they'll shift down to just under you collar bone. So much more comfortable now I've cracked that! What size wrap have you hired? I'd Google 'size x wrap carries' for ideas then hit YouTube. Watch the videos a couple of times before trying it out. I quite like Wrapyouinlove videos as there's no chit chat - just subtitles and funky hairdos.

BabyPis had her first settling in session at nursery today. I stayed but to be honest she didn't really notice I was there with new toys and people around! Another baby seemed to quite like me though and kept crawling over to cuddle me. Cute! I never thought I'd be that mum (particularly as I genuinely wasn't that mum with DS!) but I felt really gutted that I'll soon only see her a couple of hours a day Sad even though she screamed and fought with me for the best part of an hour between 10-11 until finally deciding the boob she'd rejected three times was actually what she wanted and she's currently tucking in again at half three I'll still miss her so much!

cookielove · 16/12/2015 12:22

Hi Essie I meant to say hi on my other post but I forgot Blush

We have the baby bjorn one we like it :)

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 16/12/2015 13:24

Well done Pis. When do you go back? Glad little one was happy being left. I need to get my act together as not even thought about childcare. head in sand

I tried an ergo but it was in the early days when DS was only a couple of weeks and I was still frail from blood loss! I couldn't get to grips with it but perhaps if I tried it now I might do. We've got a baby bjorn that SiL gave us, DH uses it but I find it doesn't go small enough to be comfy cos I'm titchy. I've got a bondolino slim fit but I'm not sure how easy it'll be to get him on my back with that.

Last night was not as bad as it could have been, we did get some sleep. At about 4am he was really chesty and coughing and sounded terrible, I was getting quite frightened, but gave more calpol and he conked out again and slept for a couple of hours and woke up a bit better. Managed to get him back off til 7am. He's snotty and a bit grumpy and croaky today but better than last night so hopefully over the worst of it. We just went to the village shop to post some pressies and get chocolate for me and he beamed at everyone in the shop!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 16/12/2015 13:24

Hi cookie! Grin

purplewhale · 16/12/2015 16:43

Glad he's feeling better Essie Smilethere's a lot going round at the moment. My cold has turned into sinusitis and chest infection. I'm off my food and have an upset stomach too. I have some erythromycin that I didn't need from the dentist, I'm wondering whether to start them

So this morning I saw HV and she weighed and measured him. He's on the 50th centile - 14:4 and 63cm at 14 weeks old.
He was turning to the left a lot and she wants me to get him checked for Torticollis. I've looked into it and I really don't think he has it. He turns his head both ways, it just depends what there is to look at. So I'm taking him to the GP tomorrow to get it checked. I'm not worried and can't help thinking its a waste of time, but she's coming back in January to see how we got on

RPopz · 16/12/2015 18:07

I tried a ring sling a while ago. I found it deceptively difficult! You'll have to let us know how you get on with it La

I think buckles definitely come into their own as the babies get bigger essie. And I personally find them easier than faffing around with reams of fabric. Worth trying a few to see what suits.

Glad E is better cookie Smile

Minipopz has definitely regained his appetite. 3 whole meals today! Though for some reason he wants to be spoon fed everything or for me to physically put it in his mouth.... 🙈 Otherwise he just chucks everything on the floor.

ZylaB · 16/12/2015 19:32

Lol popz. H currently tries to feed me stuff after she's been sucking or chewing it. If I don't let her smear it on my face or ram it in my mouth she arches her back, screams and refuses to eat anything else. I've got a horrible feeling she's going to be somewhat....wilful!

DulcetMoans · 16/12/2015 20:51

I've got a connecta essie, which is buckled. But I get my advice from popz so can't tell you much more than they had already!

Sorry you're so ill purple. So hard with a baby as there's no recovery time. Hope you have support.

How many settling in days will ther be pis? It's good she took to it well, but really weird for you I am sure!

So today I did a KIT day - bit of a blag as was just a two hour meeting and then Christmas lunch. Daddy was on duty. He manages to get him to nap three times, in the cot, for 40mins or more. How?! Why?! He's going to think I'm such a lazy arse! Although the night before I was up 10, 11, 1, 3, 4.30, 5 and 7 - don't see him volunteering for that!

Fleurchamp · 17/12/2015 07:57

Morning all

Hi essie, I don't think we have met before Grin

Been awol recently. I am having a tough time. Sleep is getting worse and worse and worse.

No leap, no cold just plain sleep refusal. He was still up at midnight last night. He will only settle on the boob after hours of fighting.

I am drained. I have cancelled my two planned nights out, not going to my nct lunch and just want to stay at home and hide.

I cannot be jolly. I am fucking dreading Christmas.

I have enlisted the help of a sleep consultant but fear it's just money for old rope. We start today.

I think I also have thrush dulcet but the pharmacist wouldn't let me have canesten tablets because of BF. She said I need to check with the dr Confused

Oh and I am going to be BFing until he is 18 as he now refuses a bottle after 14 weeks of taking it.

My baby is a dick.

purplewhale · 17/12/2015 08:19

Oh Fleur that's rough, sending hugs. Hope the sleep consultant works.

RPopz · 17/12/2015 08:28

Sleep regression fleur? Sending hugs and coffee.... Hope the sleep consultant has some helpful advice for you xx

Feel better soon purple x

Minipopz always acts like an angel when his Dad is around too Dulcet!! I think they just like to make liars out of us! Angry

ZylaB · 17/12/2015 08:51

Oh fleur sounds like it could be sleep regression? Hope it picks up soon x

Fleurchamp · 17/12/2015 08:53

His sleep has been getting worse for 7 weeks now.

Not sure if I have PND to be honest.

purplewhale · 17/12/2015 09:07

Fleur I wouldn't be surprised. I suspect however that when you get his sleep sorted you will be a million times better. I thought I had it a few times when things have been particularly rough. They torture people by not letting them sleep so it's no wonder really

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 09:26

Hi Fleur. I feel your pain. I too will be bfing forever because at 15 weeks he won't take a bottle. He will now let me put it in his mouth without howling, but he will NOT suck on it at all. I kid you not, I have 10 different types of bottle brand filling up the cupboard. I've tried them all, including the 'from 4 months' first sippy cup, which he loves to hold onto the handle of but again won't bloody suck on. I've shelved the bottle project for a couple of weeks to give myself a break.
Hope the sleep consultant helps. Lack of sleep is truly grim. I ended up dragging baby into my bed at about 3 weeks and cosleeping which has saved me. He now starts the night in his own crib too which is progress, though some nights only spends an hour in there. I think lack of sleep and PND are probably pretty intertwined. I've missed out on all my planned nights out too. Let us know how you get on with the sleep fairy. Sending you hugs and coffee and chocolate hobnobs.

purple how are you feeling?

Dulcet well done on the KIT day. Especially on that amount of sleep! I've done a couple with baby in the sling. Fortunately I work for a tiny family business who are grateful to see me in any capacity! I was meant to do one on Monday but we were too full of snot and I didn't want to share it around the office.

We had an ok night. He bf-ed umpteen times but went back to sleep after each session and didn't wake up crying at all. I did give more calpol at 2am cos he was really coughing but haven't had to give any since getting up this morning as he seems much better. Yay.

Viroids. I'm worried about Christmas. We're going to the inlaws and MiL is appalled that I wear baby in the sling for his naps. She doesn't get that he's crap at being put down in the day and just wakes up. She thinks I need to force him and leave him to cry. Apparently now he's 12 weeks it's ok to do that. Grrr. DH is supportive and would stick up for me but she always ambushes me when he isn't around.

Fleurchamp · 17/12/2015 09:34

essie you could be me - S has that same cup and just plays with it. Annoyingly he will happily suck the handle Angry

All of those in my mum's generation think I am woo for putting S in a sling to sleep. Now if I could just get him to stay asleep in it while I sat down.....

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 09:49

Have you tried gym ball? I sit on it and gently bounce him once he's gone off. It's the only way to keep him under during the day!!! Makes working on the computer a bit sketchy, but it's better than pacing the house for hours each day.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 09:50

Fortunately my own Mum is a complete hippy so doesn't bat an eye about the sling.

purplewhale · 17/12/2015 11:20

Things are very different now. I told my mum that she didn't do a lot of things my nana did so life moves on. There is better information now, just like there was when I was a baby. Nana told her to put me at the bottom of the garden when I cried as that was what they advised in the 1940s. Mum has already suggested baby rice and/or whiskey!

I'm still feeling grotty but coping Smile
I took B to the docs and he doesn't have Torticollis. I bloody knew he didn't. GP was bemused about the whole thing and checked him over. So I apologised for wasting his time and wished him a merry Christmas!
We've got dietician this afternoon to discuss weaning with CMPI. My thoughts were to give him bits of dairy and see how he goes. The HV gave me weaning books and they advise cows milk from 6 months...when I asked how that works for a baby that can't tolerate cows milk she didn't know Confused
I'm also going for a smear and swabs taking before having a mirena coil fitted in 2 weeks

LaLaLaaaa · 17/12/2015 11:43

Oh god fleur I was thinking about you this morning and wondering how you're doing. It sounds horrendous and I wish I could help. When B was doing his terrible sleeping for the past month I considered a sleep consultant. He's been a bit better this week but we are going into another leap so I'm fully expecting it to go bad again. I really really hope they can help you! You deserve a bloody break!! Xxxx
