Another failed hearing test. Boo. She was very good and went to sleep when the lady said to but it was no better. She is still congested so that's probably buggering up the results a bit. We've just to see how she develops. They'll have her back in for more tests but not for a while. Hopefully not in Aberdeen though. It's a two hour drive and she yelled the whole way there and the whole way back. Not really that good a day. We managed lunch but no shops. I was hoping to get to a bra measuring place and also some fancy make up but nae luck. She's asleep now. Think I might just take her up and away to bed myself. Jabs tomorrow morning. Missed playgroup this morning and will miss it again tomorrow. No grown up chat for me this week then. (Unless we count Dh, I suppose...)

Frolicacid · 02/11/2015 21:38

For those of you loving the frugi stuff, this place has a 3 for 2 offer on. Loads of other lovely brands there as well.

Yup! Such an utter drenching that it soaks through clothing. She likes to aim for my crotch too! Grin

Anybody use cot bumpers for their LO?! I have the safety mesh ones at the moment but mini mzzzf has taken to wriggling all about and whacking various body parts on the wooden slats!!

Fanby · 03/11/2015 02:42

Is Mumsnet working?! Surely i can't be first in the queue for Mugabe Nights again! I thought 2:30 was a good time lol!

Sorry about the hearing test joskar :( Iim sure she'll be a-ok!

How lovely you went and visited tindel! What a lovely thing to do!

I'm intrigued to see how the babies with mah-husive naps have slept tonight?....

Think the beast has finished back to zzzz for me x

everythingispeachy · 03/11/2015 02:52

Evening, mugabe nights looks quiet. Maybe I'll have swift half and head home.

Sorry your day didn't go well Joskar. I hope you are having a lovely sleep now.
In the end I woke ds2 up for a couple of hours and we went to bed at 10.30 and here we are now. Not too bad but not the 6 hours I was getting used to.

Mzzf that is some impressive sick. Ds1 had reflux and I remember that soaked to the skin feeling well.

Frolic Roots of Empathy is a great programme. In fact ds2 is going to be Roots baby. We are meeting our class for the first time tomorrow. I hope he likes it.

Thanks for the calm baby happy siblings recommendation. I have it on my phone now and reading bits when I can. I am still amazed by kindles and now I have the app on my phone a can literally get a book recommdation here one minute and be reading the book the next. Modern technology ay!

Mzzf we don't have a cot bumper and ds2 has started bangig his arms off the bars and getting them stuck. Think I am going to move him into the cot bed soon. He'll still be in our room but just not right next to the bed. Just need to order a matress.

Right off back to bed. Night night

everythingispeachy · 03/11/2015 02:55

Sorry cross post Fanby, we could have shared a fishbowl! Maybe tomorrow

Clstow · 03/11/2015 03:08

Checking in at a much more sensible first feed time. Went to bed when he did at 9 as well so had about 5 hours sleep and feeling gooood for it. I'll have a Reef for sure, gawd I used to get through those at uni... Bleurgh.

Sorry about the hearing test Joskar, hope it's just the congestion. Hate driving while they're screaming as well, sounds like a really tough day.

Puke in fanjo?! Omg. Nuff said.

Also intrigued as to how the mega napping babies got on tonight. Though the chances of DS napping even 2 hours are pretty slim these days.

I has to make my own 6 week check app Slow, seems like ages ago now though. Hope you get sorted soon.

The big news here is that OH announced yesterday that he thinks he wants a second child. I was Shock in a big way. He's always been so sure about just the one. Was so surprised I just changed the subject. Think DS has charmed him! My plan is to not even think about it for at least another 6 months, I'm still very much in the place where I simply can't comprehend how people manage with two!

Enjoy the dance floor, I'm gonna try and catch some more zzz's but will be back to throw some shapes later I'm sure.

mzzzf · 03/11/2015 04:20

Arrrrggghhhh!!! I'm so bloody tired.
Been in the queue for Mugabe Nights at 0057, 0215, 0300 and now... She's been a real stirrer. Only just fed now though. Maybe I should have tempted her with milk sooner?!?? The sick and missed bedtime bottle seem to have thrown her and I've not had that lovely 1st half of the night chunk Sad
And we're up in 2hrs.... Babies are total knob heads sometimes!!

A second LO?! Cannot even contemplate that right now!!!

Will need chocolate for breakfast - please send buenos!!!

OP posts:
Fanby · 03/11/2015 05:25

Oh here you all are! Sorry for the shit night mzzzf, I can't cope if I don't have a 4hr chunk now. 4hrs is all I need but it must be a block!

Now that is some massive news Clstow!!! I hope you shoved some buenos in his face to stop him from talking any further! Hahah. No honesty, that is really lovely, your DS is an amazing baby that's for sure!

Just going to have a baileys and be on my way, if I'm lucky might get another 90mins...molly now has an inbuilt alarm that says DAY STARTS AT 6AM grrrrr. To be fair I make DH get up with her but he's so noisy with her I may as well get up....

Dozygirl · 03/11/2015 05:51

I preferred my 6am wake ups go 5am grrr.
Clstow u should totally have another one heehee. I just can't decide who to start trying. It's such a lot of effort making a baby so my contraception at the moment is just abstaining. Prob be easier when dd has her own room.

Mzzf sorry for the giant puke and being up all night. Hope u don't feel too tired.

Slow they're always sick at inconvenient times aren't they. Hope it was just a one off.

Fatty hope you're feeling ok and not in too much pain after your fall.

Dd is being a right fuss pot at the moment over feeding. She's taken a dislike to the nipple shields but her latch is still rubbish without them so it bloody hurts. And then sometimes she'll get cross because the nipple shields aren't on. I just cant win. It was so easy when I was using the shields. I'd rather find it easy then be in discomfort. She's taken it this morning with the shield but mornings are her best time for feeding as she's really hungry after her long stretch of sleep. I'm fed up of people tellinge jist to give up and give her bottles as well everytime I have a little moan about her fussing. I'm jus talking about it, it doesn't mean that I want to give up. I like it. Yes it can be hard and frustrating but it's still working so why should i give up. Although when dd gets herself all worked up I do feel a bit guilty for making her do it because I'm sure she wouldn't get so stressed out on a bottle. I don't want to emotionally scar her by making her do it. Seeing as all the 'attached' style parenting says babies shouldn't cry, what are u supposed to do when what you are doing to them is making them cry. It is literally a full on paddy. She did it for the first time while at bf group and the volunteers said maybe it's because she's not hungry. That's not really v helpful because she does do it when she's clearly hungry

loveandsmiles · 03/11/2015 07:03

fanby you and your washing can come and stay anytimeGrin

tindel sounds like you had a lovely time visiting the maternity ward - nice to hear a positive birth / post natal experience. It must be nice for the midwifes to see your little 'success' story

mzzf lol at sick in fanjo - words you never thought you would ever utter pre babyGrin

fatty hope you are better and more mobile today

joskar sorry your day out didn't go as planned. Hope once DDs congestion clears all will be well

dozy sorry, don't have any words of advice, just that you are doing really well. I understand people saying to give up - I had cracked and bleeding nipples this time plus other 5DCs to look after and everyone kept saying just use a bottle but I knew if I persevered things would improve and I breastfed all the other DCs so wanted to do it this time too and now all fine. Good you can vent on here - just do what is right for you and baby.

I took toddler swimming yesterday - pool let me bring baby in in her pram and sit at side of pool - she slept beautifully. Then toddler had tumble club. Completely shattered by lunchtime and toddler and baby slept all afternoon. Did my usual manic house clean then caught up with Dance Mums - the Jennifer Ellison one - ridiculous, rubbish TV but I love itSmile

Dozygirl · 03/11/2015 07:26

Gotta love a bit of trashy TV loves :)

Joskar I missed your post sorry. Sorry to hear it didn't all go to plan again. It probably is jus congestion but must be so worrying for u in the meantime. Sending u hugs.

Tindel. Nice of u.to go back and show j off. I always love it when the mum's bring the babies back to visit us to see how well theyre doing. Some are in hospital for such a long time so it's lovely to see them again.

mzzzf · 03/11/2015 07:36

Arrrghh nightmare Joskar! Hope the retest is more fruitful. And even if it's not you strike me as the kinda lady who'll handle it no worries!!

Dozy - let me tell you that it's not always easier with a bottle fed baby. Well at least night with mini mzzzf. She can be a right fussy mare when it comes to feeding sometimes. Shaking her head at the bottle, taking a few sips then crying, spitting out the teat etc etc So it's not all super easy and brilliantly simple bottle feeding either. Babies are just annoying sometimes!! Grin

Ok so I'm literally a zombie this morning. Didn't actually get more than 2hrs sleep in a block so I'm hoping to be able snooze on the sofa when she's snoozing on me later but as we know these babies have other plans for our sanity!!

I might make myself feel better and but her a ridiculous Christmas outfit instead!

OP posts:
ruby242 · 03/11/2015 08:03

Good morning!

Mzzzf we were the same yesterday only sleeping in 2hr chunks Ahh exhausting. Luckily we went back to a 4hr stretch to start the night so a little better. Good idea on the Christmas outfit-I've already bought DS several christmas-related outfits!

Dozy, DS is also gets fussy sometimes over feeding, he has a bottle at night and fusses over that sometimes too! Well done for persevering :)

Clstow that's good news from your DH, just shows people can always change their minds!

Joskar DS always cries in the car too (anyone found a way to help their babies to not hate the car?!) I do hope the test didn't go well due to the congestion, sounds likely.

Quiet day here today, am starting to wish there were some more baby groups nearby as I feel we are ready to get out and about a lot more!

mzzzf · 03/11/2015 08:11

Re the baby crying in the car seat thingy. Firstly it's shit isn't it and secondly mini mzzzf was a nightmare for it so we removed the newborn insert and ta-dah! One happy camper.

May or may not help, I am full of shitty* advice today Grin

*less sleep = more sweary words Grin

FattyNinjaOwl · 03/11/2015 08:20

UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN!

Ugh. I've got the squits. It's horrible. And I still can't move proper so I'm scared that one of these times I won't make it to the loo,...sorry tmi

Tindel · 03/11/2015 09:09

Well, showing J off clearly went to his head because he was a complete pain last night. We had two 4+ hour stretches between feeds and I think he may have slept for barely 2 hours between each. Whinging, fidgeting and outright wailing and we just couldn't settle him. He fell asleep on the changing mat this morning, so he clearly is tired as well!

Am supposed to be going to something this morning, I think I may not have time for a shower and breakfast and as I'm constantly starving with bf, I think I know what I will opt for.

Fatty, yikes that is not nice. Drink lots so you don't get dehydrated and hope it will pass soon ...

Fanby · 03/11/2015 09:15

Grrr I lost my post!!! Overview:

Dozy - do you have to stop using the shields? I don't know much about them, do you have to stop using them when a baby is a certain age? I think you've done a stirling job with the feeding!!

Love - that's so nice you got to spend some one on one time with your little one. Well done baby for playing ball and snoozing! I love me some trash tv so will need to check out that programme

Mzzzf - you've reminded me that we need to take the wedge out of her car seat as her legs are too long, hoping that might stop the tears we've recently encountered too!
Buy the outfit, buy 12 - you and she deserve it xx

Frolicacid · 03/11/2015 09:31

Good morning!
Ds' mammoth nap didn't seem to have an impact and he slept 10:30- 5:15, 5:30-8:30 and went straight back and is still Snoring! And the poorly dog slept all night, so we are a happier bunch today.

Giraffescandance1 · 03/11/2015 09:51

Joskar sorry for the test, hopefully the issue is congestion related, my ears get really blocked when I have a cold!

Sounds like a few of us had rubbish nights. I fell asleep holding baby (laying in bed, so couldn't drop..) at 2am. She wouldn't settle any other way, I think she's out of sorts from vaccinations. Plus this morning dh didn't take dd1 to childminder as he didn't have time, so I've got a grumpy toddler and a grizzly baby...living the dream!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 03/11/2015 10:46

Morning all,

Argh! to all those experiencing rubbish sleep at the moment. These babies like to test us, just when you think you have one thing nailed they go and change it up again Confused. We are in a good groove at the moment - bed at 8pm up at 6:30am, one night feed at around 4:30am - but I am very aware that at this stage you are only as good as your last night!

joskar sorry to hear about the hearing test, did they give you any feedback as to what might be causing it?

frolic glad the hound is recovering now and thanks for the shopping tip. I need to buy grumpy 2 some bigger bottoms, it's all gone a bit J-Lo here with a growth spurt and cloth nappies!!

giraffes sounds like two is not quite twice the fun for you this morning Wink can you do an emergency run to the childminder a bit later to save your sanity?

mzzzf glad to hear that removing the insert solved your travelling problems. I seem to remember that helped grumpy 1 and then once she went facing forward she became a great little traveller. Some babies just hate being backwards I think. I am very glad that grumpy 2 was born before the cut off for extended reward-facing, come 9 months she is going to see the world!!

dozy people's advice on feeding (bottles or boob) is so unhelpful. I'd say just ignore them but I know it's hard to. First time around when I was struggling to bf DH was very quick to suggest formula, this time around he realises better how unhelpful that was and has kept his gob shut. Anyway, you are doing brilliantly so just keep on keeping on. You are not going to traumatise Piper and if she prefers the nipple shield its nobodies business but hers and yours xx

Cold and misty here today and grumpy 2 is fighting her nap. Might pop into the city centre in a bit to get DH a birthday pressie and see if the walk knocks her out.

Frolicacid · 03/11/2015 11:49

Does Mugabe nights open for lunch time? I need a gin and I'd love a cigarette to go with it!

My morning has quite literally gone to shit since my last post. Dog runs all over the back yard and a poonami of epic, destroy everything in it's wake, proportions from ds!

Sometimes I'd rather be at work!

sianihedgehog · 03/11/2015 12:34

OH MY GOD THAT WAS THE BEST NIGHT!

Fergus slept through from 9 or 10 until gone 4 am! I woke up due to both boobs and bladder being painfully full and he was out cold still. He woke up within an hour and had a change and a feed and went back to sleep until about half seven. I feel like a new woman!!

We've finally got an appointment for his hip ultrasound on Friday, too. Fingers crossed for them to say that there's no problem.

Joskar sorry to hear about your failed hearing test. Fingers crossed it is just the congestion.

mzzf I feel your pain on the pants full of sick. Fergus just managed to puke down my buttcrack and I'm torn between being kind of astonished that is even possible and gagging.

ruby242 · 03/11/2015 12:40

Thanks for the tip about the carseat mzzzf, newborn insert now removed so let's hope it makes for a happier traveller-I'll report back!

Fatty you poor thing, I hope it is easing for you now and you're back to normal soon. Nothing worse than being unwell with a baby!

Tindel and giraffes I hope you have a better night tonight and it was just a random bad night. Slowife and Frolic I'm officially jealous of your baby's sleep-amazing! On the subject of christmas I'm thinking maybe a high chair or some sort of weaning things? Plus some outfits?

Ahh frolic sounds like a bit of a disaster but hopefully all cleaned up now?

For those that breastfeed I'm wondering how often you're feeding? We were doing about every 3hrs depending on sleep etc but DS sleep isn't improving so am trialling feeding him more often today to see if that helps at all-maybe he isn't having enough milk in the day?

ruby242 · 03/11/2015 12:42

Cross-post, siani sounds like bliss let's hope he continues the good nights!!
