Hi all

I couldn't see a July 2015 thread so thought I'd start one. My daughter was born on the 6th and the last two weeks have been fun and tiring - with not much sleep!

Anyone else around?

13weeks 16lbs 4ozs and fabulous. Has his injections today he did great, cried for only seconds each one. He's hard as nails, we think he going to be a rugby player haha.

He's having his first sleep over at grandma & granddad on Saturday. me & OH are having a night away. We've not had any time just us, Not because of baby boy, and he may be working away after Friday so we're going just us, can't wait.

smallgreenbanana · 21/10/2015 08:02

Wow that's amazing charlie. I can't imagine doing that - nights are becoming increasingly bad and they've got worse staying away from home. I can't imagine my parents doing a night for us. In the last 3 months DH and I have had exactly 1 hour 20 minutes together alone without the responsibility of DD!

smallgreenbanana · 21/10/2015 09:24

Sorry I should have said, have a great time! :)

Charliej86 · 21/10/2015 11:05

We would have very happily took baby with us if my parents had said no, he's not the issue were having. We have OH 16year old niece lives with us and she's took to sitting with us when we try have a bit of a snuggle on the couch watch a movie (when my older 2 are with their dad) As much as we love her it's gettin a little much.

Parents have only said yes because he's only having 1 bottle at about 5am, from last bottle between 7-9pm. And my sil is due baby in Jan so it's prob only chance before they feel they have to alternate having babies. Not that any of us would expect or be offended.

Aretepetite · 22/10/2015 12:25

Oh My Days....

I have just got back onto mums net since hackergate ShockAngry

I have missed you all so much especially during the hormone filled sleepless nights !!

I hope you and babies are all well & good and settling into life together.

Now I have to read back and catch up.

In my news Lyla cut her first tooth at beginning of the week at 14 weeks. I'm so shocked and was pretty emotional about it !

I have just put her down for a nap upstairs for the 1st time so here's hoping she goes for a decent 1 !

The last comment I saw Broody complemented Lyla's name - thank you.
Sienna is a gogeous name too Smile

God it feels good to be back with you lot. It's amazing the support I / we feel from cyber friends xx

HollyC255552 · 22/10/2015 14:38

Welcome back Arete.

How is your LO since her cutting first tooth? My DD who is 14 weeks is showing some signs but nothing has come of it yet. Eeeeek

Stinkilinky · 22/10/2015 15:44

Welcome back Arete Smile

broodylicious · 22/10/2015 17:55

Hello all. Another just jumping aboard again after a long stay away thanks to hacksville. How is everyone coping? Is it what you ftms expected? For the good or bad? Are you the kind of mummy you thought you'd be? Have you all started doing classes?

Sienna is 12+5 today and doing well. Ebf, loving her milk, doing ok with sleep (we had an horrific time, and I mean like hell, with her big sister so I'm not apologising for feeling slightly relieved that this time - for the moment at least - my baby likes sleep!) and she's generally very happy. We are doing baby massage which is beautiful and something I really cherish because it's time for just me and her. We will start baby sensory in the new year as I loved it with dd1.

smallgreenbanana · 22/10/2015 19:05

Hi arete. DD is showing some signs of sore gums and she's been enjoying chewing toys - I'm dreading full blown teething eek

Broody. It's very hard work and actually I don't really enjoy it much of the time (awful to say but I'm being honest!) but it has its moments. Particularly when she grins and giggles. Grin we are doing baby yoga meeting other mums. I just wish she would do daytime naps better and also nighttime sleeping has become a bit of a nightmare of late. I don't know how I am still functioning on so little sleep! It's actually amazing how you adjust. Glad to hear you are getting on OK.

I joined FB - can anyone add me to the group? I'm such a FB noob

smallgreenbanana · 22/10/2015 19:06

Arete. Lovely to see you back here. It's been really quiet here.

LittleMiss77 · 22/10/2015 19:21

DS is 14 weeks yesterday.

Im loving being a mummy, in fact i had my first KIT day at work today and i just sat there thinking 'DP needs to earn more so i can stay with DS!'

Im not sure if ive been lucky but he's been sleeping 7 - 5 for the last 4 weeks, he goes to bed with little/no fuss, LOVES his baths (i put this down to a pool birth Grin) and is just such a happy little boy.... id have another tomorrow if i could (but i know that it would be totally totally different!)

broodylicious · 23/10/2015 20:00

small, we'd love to have you on FB. Will send you a DM on how to join

Charliej86 · 26/10/2015 08:00

Day 1 of OH working away. He left st 2am and won't be back until Friday night/Saturday. He has quite cleverly fit it in with half term too. I'm not so worried about looking after the kids I'm just going to miss him like crazy.

We had a lovely time away, baby boy was good as gold for grandma & grandad but I missed him like mad so we set off home early. X

HollyC255552 · 26/10/2015 11:05

Hi all,
Coming up to 15 weeks now & we moved DD into crib the weekend. Touch wood all is ok a little restless but nothing too bad. Is everyones DS/DD napping during day & if so, for how long? DD sometimes tries to fight it then other days is quite happily to take one frequently & for around 45mins at a time.

LittleMiss77 · 26/10/2015 14:28

DS naps for anything from 30mins to 3hrs. Tends to sleep longer during his morning nap.

We put him in his cot for day time naps as he is too big for his bassinet. Still in with us for night though. Sleeps from his last bottle at 930 through to about 6am

Had him weighted this morning - 16lb at 15 weeks. Looking through his red book the HV appears to have plotted him at 14 weeks so he is showing closer to 75th centile rather than the 50th. Not sure why they bother if they arent going to do it properly!

Charliej86 · 26/10/2015 16:30

I noticed that the other week littlemiss. Hv plotted at 8 & 12 instead of 9&13. I think because we went when he has his injections which were a week late, their fault.

We have a few naps a day ranging from 10mins to maybe 1 1/2 hours. All usually on some one as he likes to lie on belly but not rolling yet. Starting to try more now tho.

MuddyWellyNelly · 26/10/2015 16:51

Hi everyone, been away for a week so just catching up. DS is 12.5 weeks now and doing well, second set of injections today. Still EBF and he looks like he's chunking up, although haven't had him weighed for a few weeks.

Daytime naps here aren't great. Most days I might get 2, of 30 mins to an hour. Sometimes more but it's rare. His night sleep is ok but inconsistent. We don't have a shadow of a routine and I'm not sure it is good for either of us. However at least there are now periods he's awake and happy in bouncer or whatever so at least I can get stuff done!

Does anyone share the bath with their little ones? If so how hot do you make the bath and how do you get in and out safely?

Broody would you mind PMing me about FB too?

Stinkilinky · 26/10/2015 18:05

Hi all.

Rudy is 17 weeks today (technically he is a June baby but was due in July!)

We tried baby rice for the first time today and it went down a storm! Dr and HV advised to wean him at 17 weeks due to his terrible reflux problems, he seemed so much more content even after just a couple of spoonfuls of his rice.

I've been trying to establish more of a routine, I've found the baby tracker app so helpful with this. He is taking a nap inbetween each feed, anything between 20 mins to an hour and a half. Sleeping from 6:30/7 ish until around 5/6ish but has started to wake in the night for his dummy.

All in all we are making good progress and I am starting to enjoy being a mum now which is lovely as I was struggling and starting to go down a dark road Smile

Thepurplegiraffe · 27/10/2015 11:55

Hi all
I haven't posted in a while. I'm glad to see there is light at the end of the tunnel for some of us.
We are doing ok in general but dd1 is playing up a lot which is making life difficult.
We are still ebf but I'm not sure how long it will last as dd2 keeps dropping down the centiles on her weight. We have seen the gp and got her reflux medication increased but if she drops further they want to see her again. Having said that she still looks healthy and happy with her chubby little cheeks so maybe she is just finding her line.

smallgreenbanana · 27/10/2015 17:40

Muddy we tried for the first time today as DD does not really like baths. I put a mat in the bath to prevent slips when I stepped in and popped her in first and out last - I've got an Angelcare seat to pop her into. Trying not to have a hand off her for more than a second. Don't know if this is recommended practice.

Bit relieved to hear I'm not the only one with short nap issues! Drives me a bit nuts.

broodylicious · 27/10/2015 18:43

muddy, our 3.5 yr old toddler still bathes daily with her daddy - she's always preferred that to her small bath, even from about four weeks old. You just have to be even more careful on exit as these babes are slippery customers ;) Dd2 appears to love her little bath but we will have to move her on soon as she's quite a biggy. Think she will enjoy the leg splashing freedom too.

MuddyWellyNelly · 27/10/2015 20:04

Thanks for bath tips. The temp still confuses me as I tend to like a fairly warm bath.

Naps have been better today. Lets see what it does to night time. Went to have him weighed today, he's 11lbs 5 at 12.5 weeks. Tracking just under 9th centile. Happy with that :).

Tea ready. About to sneak downstairs to try to eat it. Wish me luck.

Stinkilinky · 27/10/2015 20:38

muddy I found the bath temperature confusing too as I like my baths scalding hot. I got a bath thermometer for around £3 off Amazon so I knew it was right for DS.

Stinkilinky · 27/10/2015 20:38

P.s good luck with your tea Grin

jmojo · 27/10/2015 23:33

Hi guys back again. We have a pretty good day time routune 15+ wks. 2 x 1 1/2 -2 hr naps a day. It used to be 2 short ones and a long one but she recently fell into a new pattern. Feeds around 2 1/2 hrly. Still mix feeding but my breast milk recently finally increased. After expressing to get it up since birth (inadequate due to anaemia) it is finally enough for more than half bf a day!! Smile

She goes down at 6-7 pm every night no problem into her cot but sadly that is where the good stuff ends and it all falls apart! Confused having been an excellent sleeper at 12 weeks she just stopped sleeping well at night. So now we are struggling along with either 1-2 hrly wake ups after 10 pm or she wakes at 3 and wont sleep again until 9 am!! Frazzled to say the least!! ? Early 4 month regression, certainly feels like it.

Dh finally on board and getting up to let me sleep 6-8 am. It was a fight to get him there but it seems like he understands now.

On the good side she is rolling now, trying to commando crawl, and likes to be held up either sitying or standing on your lap(which I dread to think may indicate an early mover ShockShockShock)

Good to hear how you are all doing.
