Hi all

I couldn't see a July 2015 thread so thought I'd start one. My daughter was born on the 6th and the last two weeks have been fun and tiring - with not much sleep!

Anyone else around?

Oh yes I forgot to say muddy re temp - I think ideal temp is 38 degrees? We got a duck that has a digital thermometer in and it tells you too hot/cold. From boots I think. Btw, I think you've heard from purple re fb? Look forward to seeing you over there x

smallgreenbanana · 28/10/2015 06:58

I've got an Avent thermometer that says 37 for the bath.

MuddyWellyNelly · 28/10/2015 19:10

Thanks everyone. I tried DS in a slightly warmer bath tonight and he was quite happy. Understatement. We were using a borrowed tummy tub but have moved to the tommee tippee bath which has a slope, head cushion and big wedge for his bum. My god he loves it, he thrashes around smiling for about 15 mins. Not sure I actually fancy sharing a bath with him!

Thanks Broody, yes I've joined. Will introduce myself soon. :)

Franky used to pull a lovely face, kinda O shape with his mouth, I miss it.
Also he's always sneezed a lot since birth when he was littler he would sometimes sneeze then one wouldn't come out n he made the cutest noise lol.

Has anyone else's babies grown out of anything already?

HollyC255552 · 30/10/2015 11:47

Charlie my DD is exactly the same as your DS. She sometimes still does a little noise when she cant sneeze. Its so freaking cute!! I do miss her little O thing with her mouth though.

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while, just had a read through- sounds like you're all doing great.
Sebastian has just gone over the 16-week mark, feels like it's gone so fast. He's a delight during the day at the moment, lovely smiles and giggles, happily amused by chewing his toys or watching me do housework when we're at home, and generally calm when we go out. He's nearly rolling, and has almost got neck control, so I think I'll change the pushchair to the 'sat-up' position soon- he gets bored laying down in the pram. Is it too soon?
We go to rhyme time at the libraries a few times a week (lucky to have 7 of them in walking distance!) and stay-and-play at the children's centre. Will try and branch out into some different classes in the New Year. Any recommendations?
Still finding the nights a bit tough- he'll go down at 7pm no problem, but has gone back to waking every 2 hours at the moment. Aaaaargh! Coffee is my friend!
Bath-wise our tap has a dial so I aim for about 38, he seems to enjoy it at that temp. We also use the Angelcare bath support which is really helpful for keeping him in place! Not tried getting in with him as: a) I like certain bath products that might be a bit harsh on his skin and b) he always pisses in the bath.
Have continued breastfeeding despite the abscess drama last month. I enjoy the closeness it gives us and feel so lucky to have managed to keep it up. Next stop: weaning at Christmas! Halloween Wink
I'd like to jump into the FB group too if you'll all have me? Can anyone pm me with details to join?

broodylicious · 30/10/2015 20:07

Hi sparkly. Nice to hear from you. 16 weeks feels like a milestone, doesn't it? We aren't there yet (14 weeks tomorrow) but I'm seeing 16 weeks as a biggie. So sorry to hear you're hitting sleep regression already. It's common at four months, fingers crossed he gets back to normal soon for you. In terms of classes, I loved doing baby sensory with dd1 and I'm planning on picking it up again with dd2 in January. Dd1 was (and still is) quite sensitive and tbh I think it blew her mind when we started but she was only about eight weeks so my fault entirely.
I'll DM you with fb details x

Stinkilinky · 30/10/2015 20:13

sparkly DS is 17+4 now and I have him in the upright seat in his pram for when he's awake and recline it back when he is sleeping. I couldn't keep him lying flat in his pram top, he's far too nosey and likes to see what's going on!

We had more jabs today, he's taken all the rest in his stride but this lot seem to have unsettled him a bit, he just wants cuddles with me so I've not moved off the sofa since getting back from the doctors. He definitely has a temperature so haven't put a vest under his sleep suit. Given him all his required doses of calpol so hopefully he'll wake up feeling more like himself.

How did you guys get on with the new meningitis b jab? Sorry if this has been covered before, I missed a lot due to the hack!

broodylicious · 30/10/2015 20:29

Brain freeze! How do I DM?!

SparklyPenguin · 30/10/2015 21:15

Broody lol I think in the bar with the poster's name in click on 'message poster'- or if on smartphone click on the 3 dots under my post (if that makes any sense!) Yes I do fear we've hit 'sleep regression', hopefully not for too long. I'll look into baby sensory, thanks, I think he'd enjoy that.
Stinki exactly- he'll cry and fuss laying down in the pram unless we're on the move, but as soon as I pull him out and sit him on my knee facing out he's fine, just wants to look around! As for the jabs he had the Men B with his first round, all seemed ok after the initial screaming and the Calpol, definitely a little sleepier and more docile than usual for about 48 hours, but after reading what meningitis can do to a child I'm glad to have him protected against it. We're a few weeks behind schedule due to a mix-up at the surgery but should be having third set in a fortnight. Hope your little fella feels better soon. Flowers

jmojo · 30/10/2015 22:44

We sit up in the pram have been dince about 14 weeks. It has 4 reclining settings so it is sort of half up.

Thepurplegiraffe · 01/11/2015 09:27

We are 16 weeks here and wondering what to do about the carry cot. She is quite long so will outgrow it soon but the seat for the uppababy is deep and I'm not sure she would be comfortable in it. Apparently there is a newborn insert but it doesn't seem worth it.
Also she does most of her naps in there so not sure what we are going to do about that. I could put her upstairs but I have a toddler to watch. Plus I am trying to do an upstairs nap right now and it is not going well. Is everyone else putting their babies upstairs for naps now?

LittleMiss77 · 01/11/2015 14:28

Hey purple

We're 16wks this wednesday. Upstairs naps for us with the baby monitor on. DS settles really well though. Lie down, dummy in and usually asleep in 10 mins max.

We had a vista and have started using the seat - we have the strap on the smallest hook and tightest setting with the seat fully reclined. The straps are a little looser than id like but he's too long for the bassinet now. I did debate taking the newborn insert from the car seat when we go for walks, but this wont be practical for when we go out in the car obviously!

DS seems happy enough in the buggy seat, but im trying not to keep him in there for too long at the moment

Charliej86 · 01/11/2015 16:41

15weeks and were using the pram seat, it reclines almost fully so no worries. He loves it, like being able to see and kicking his feet about.

Still napping downstairs but debating putting him upstairs, need to invest in a monitor though. But he only really cat naps until tea time so not sure it will be worth it.

SparklyPenguin · 01/11/2015 20:36

Right- we're going to try the upright pram seat tomorrow then. No useful advice on naps here, he just kips wherever he falls asleep as long as it's safe! Don't usually put him into the nest in the bedroom during the day but I totally would if I had other children around.

Sherbet38 · 02/11/2015 00:27

Hi all, just caught up on the thread. DS is 14 weeks now. He's starting to develop some sleep patterns; one morning nap & two in the afternoon. I tend to put him in his moses basket for the first one, but bouncer or pram in afternoon.

We've started a bedtime routine ; we put him to bed 7-7.30, he wakes and feeds about 11pm then one wake / feed between then and 8am. I am hoping he'll drop the night feed soon, as I'd really like a full nights sleep! Wink If iI kept popping his dummy in I'm sure he'd sleep through, but that makes me feel bad Blush

Other than Ernst we're doing great. Still EBF, which iI never thought iI would be. DS is a happy, contented baby. He's full of smiles Smile We go to a rhyme and sign group, and iI go for lunch with lots of mommies Cake I'm enjoying my mat leave, but have to say I'm still looking forward in a way to going back to work. As much as I'm loving the time with my little man, iI miss the mental stimulation! Time is flying by x

captaincloud · 03/11/2015 21:51

Hi everyone, I posted a bit at the beginning but been a lurker for a while as I can't string sentences together at the moment. Love my dd to pieces but finding everything around it quite tough. I'd really like to join the fb group too if that's ok, could someone dm me details? Thank you!

jmojo · 04/11/2015 22:28

Captain cloud has anyone been in touch about the fb group?? I am in it I will get on to it. For now I will say pm misseskimo here with your email address so she can add you. I will tell her to look for it and or ask for other instructions!!

TiesThatBind · 04/11/2015 22:38

Hi all - haven't posted since the first few weeks, but have been lurking and would love to join FB group.

DS is now 18 weeks (16.5 adjusted). No rolling which I am slightly anxious about, but lots of smiles which are lovely. He is napping upstairs for the first two/three naps of the day and usually in the sling for his final nap. No classes yet, but I want to find a baby massage or baby yoga class after Christmas

DS1 is two and has had a tough time adjusting but finally starting to sleep through again - hallelujah! DS2's nights aren't great but if I only have to get up for him then it is manageable.

Let me know who to message to join on FB? Thank you!

jmojo · 04/11/2015 23:49

Tiesthatbind and captaincloud i will inbox you.

laura825 · 09/11/2015 22:16

Hi All,

I'm new to this thread, I was a regular in the becoming a parent but didn't realise this thread existed! I'm so happy to have found it.
A bit about me my DD is just over 15weeks now, weighed 8lb 9oz at birth. I tried breast feeding at the beginning but struggled so have formula fed since about 2/3 days. I've been extremely lucky that my little one has only ever woke twice at night and has been sleeping through for a couple of weeks although occasionally will wake, hungry about 5am but then go back down. She goes down at 7pm and wakes at about 8am.
However day time naps are a different story I'm lucky if she has 3 20min naps a day. She will generally sleep on the sofa or in her cot.
She has been sleeping in her cot since 10 weeks as she sleeps with her arms flat out and didn't have the space to do so in her Moses basket.
Anyway I just wanted to join in, if you will all have me and will keep up with everyone's journeys!
Laura

broodylicious · 10/11/2015 17:17

Welcome laura. My lo is just over 15 weeks too, she was born July 25Smile Looking forward to hearing more about you and your littlie x

laura825 · 10/11/2015 19:21

Ahh congratulations to you broodylicious, my little one was born on the 23rd! She was 11days late and I was induced although I was in labour, all very dramatic. Had an epidural then they examined me and I was already 10cm so they said they shouldn't of given it to me, which would explained the pain I was in but no one listened to me when I said I needed to push they just said I was a first time mum and it was happening to quickly to be ready. I lost a lot of blood and they still never examined me until after the epidural which is when they discovered I was 10cm. In the end she came with a little help from some forceps!!
My little one is teething at the moment I can see a few white buds appearing, I have been using dentinox, does anyone recommend anything else? I try to hold off calpol as it makes her very constipated and that makes her even more grumpy!

Charliej86 · 10/11/2015 22:48

I'm confused at something.....baby boy is 16+3weeks so that's 4 months but he was born on 18th so not 4months until next week......how long do you say they are 4 months for??? When do you change to 5months. I know it's random but has been bugging me a few days haha.

Quick update tho, we're going through a rough patch, he's been picking at bottles only having an 2-4ozs a feed, from 7oz bottles. Only added back in 1 extra night feed to compensate but the 2 night bottles he'll take closer to 5-6ozs. This has been going on since Friday. I've stopped making 7ozs though day just because of the waste.

He's fine in everything else wet/dirty nappies, sleeping/napping well, even drinking a bit of water (his wees smell quite strong so thought dehydrated) and loving it.

He's so cheeky and happy, not too interested in rolling over but really wants to sit! Love him so much just wish I could sleep haha

broodylicious · 11/11/2015 04:15

Oh my gosh laura, what a birth! Can't believe they didn't even examine you when you said you needed to push. That's so bad of them. Mama knows best, even a ftm in labour! I had a speedy one this time - went from 5cm to delivering baby then placenta within 25 mins. All a bit fast and ouchy!! Glad I shan't be doing it again, now we've got our two littlies (our first born is also a dd).

Re teething - we've got lots of that going on too. I give dd some teething granules with camomilia in to calm her down and if she's v bad, calpol as well. She loves chewing on a muslin and so I keep meaning to do her a frozen one - if it's cold and crunchy, she can numb her gums. Teething is dreadful, not looking forward to those back teeth coming in as they're not at all nice for them. Always something with these littlies! Haha! Xx
