I got those the wrong way round Blush. Should say:

I've just started getting front to back flips. Back to front get caught at the shoulder

jaykay34 · 04/02/2015 15:45

sleepless Hello..and wow I love, love, love the name Rupert. It's one of my faves Smile .

ella My little one is generally in 3-6 clothes but we still use some 0-3 trousers, sleepsuits and vests. He is 25th centile height, and average weight.
I've found it interesting reading the variations on here - although I think my boy is one of the youngest on the thread.

jaykay34 · 04/02/2015 15:57

lilone I had insomnia when I was a young teenager and when discussing it with a specialist, I mentioned that most nights, when I was falling asleep, I would suddenly "fall down a hole", dramatically jolt and completely wake up and not be able to sleep again. It was then I found out about myoclonic jerks. (They weren't anything to do with the insomnia - but didn't really help it !) As I've aged, I've realised that everybody I've ever slept in a bed with gets them ! I never realised that they were like seizures.

holls2000 · 04/02/2015 16:16

we are getting back to front flips but b gets stuck on his shoulder.

he had loads of rice at lunchtime. then his idiot mother took him swimming. guess whether (a) it all stayed down or (b) he puked it all back up over aforementioned idiot mother. I have now realised that food comes AFTER swimming.

we had another restless night. I feel a bit down today.

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 17:13

holls it's horrible when you have no sleep I completely sympathise, ds has only just stopped waking up 5 times s night. Try and take it easy during the day, can you just spend a day in bed with them?

We have no rolling at all! When on his front he can over balance and fall to his back but it definitely doesn't look intentional.

TeamEponine · 04/02/2015 17:25

Hi all! Sorry, not had time to read through all the posts promptly for a couple of days. Just wanted to ask quickly ask for top tips for a teething baby. I think we have teeth appearing! Confused

holls2000 · 04/02/2015 17:26

Sleepless it's normally fine, reattach dummy and back to sleep but I need an unbroken sleep!! He slept nearly 2 hrs after swimming so I napped then!

We have to gave big conversation about house tonight. I'm dreading it. Bah. Being grown up is shit.

FATEdestiny · 04/02/2015 18:07

Not eating right before swimming continues right through childhood holls. Good luck with your grown up conversation tonight. I quite like in depth conversations like that. DH and I have opposing opinions on some political issues cos he is a fluffy liberal and it makes for interesting discussions - especially around election times.

CumbrianExile · 04/02/2015 18:22

Good luck Holls grown up conversations are not fun.

Team, Ambesol liquid and calpol for the teething. And lots of dribble bibs haha.

Anyone experienced cradle cap? Or any advise on whats best to get rid of it?

RedToothBrush · 04/02/2015 18:25

Thanks Fate, yes I'm fine just tired at the moment. DS has been keeping me up all night, waking and then not settling again and during the day he's been a nightmare to get to sleep or turns massively hyperactive wanting to bounce/walk/otherwise move. So I'm worn out/mad busy. (Plus side to that is I am starting to loose weight).

He still can't roll. It seems like everyone else has rollers now.

He turns onto his side but seems to have no interest in going the whole way over as standing is MUCH more interesting. He's cruising with support. Hmm And today he has worked out that he can shuffle forward on his bum whilst sitting. He's still face planting whilst sitting however this is not stopping him. And he's constantly backwards cater-pillaring across the floor and has learned to turn and change direction doing it now. Basically he won't stay still and wants to GO. But he hasn't mastered the basics and wants to skip everything in between.

Acorncat · 04/02/2015 18:52

Apart from a complete fluke of a roll, mine is showing zero interest. If he's propped up then he'll roll sideways but that's it. If he's flat on the floor he'll be exactly as I left him, no spinning, nothing.

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 18:59

Acorn mine too. No interest even slightly in rolling back to front

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 19:00

cumbrian we have pretty bad cradle cap - I'm just leaving it, but have been told olive oil left to soak overnight and then rubbed with a flannel in the morning clears it up pretty quick; I'm just too lazy though!

CumbrianExile · 04/02/2015 19:17

Thanks Sleepless will give that a try. I have been pretty lazy with it too to be honest, but its looking bad now and I want to try and get rid of it before the christening.

Red I don't have a roller either. He does do the clockface thing described by Fate though, And kind of does the caterpillar backwards thing but not very far. I think he wants to crawl, but hates being on his tummy so not sure how he will master that Grin

KitKat1985 · 04/02/2015 19:19

Jessica has cradle cap too, although it's hidden by her hair so not too noticeable.

Jessica rolled once a fortnight ago and hasn't done it since, so it was obviously a fluke. We keep trying to tempt her but she just gets to her side and then rolls back again. So frustrating! She'd rather just be on her feet all day! She does seem to manage to spin around a bit though (on a couple of occasions I'll check in her in her cot and she's managed to do a full 180' turn! Lol!

Zanashar · 04/02/2015 19:20

Red , DD has rolled a total of a bout 8 times. First time was three weeks ago and then we got one roll per day for about a week and now she refuses to roll at allHmm.sitting up lasts a few seconds before face planting usually occurs but overall is progressing nicely.

Teething : definitely Anbesol liquid over the gel .
Use Calpol ( or paracetamol suspension if you're not bothered about the brand)
Ashton and Parsons powders are meant to be brilliant ( got some but not used yet)
Can use all of these together

Cradle cap: massaging with olive oil should help. I wouldn't bother with any chemically shampoos to be honest.

DD is currently wearing one of my hats ( for my entertainment obviously but she seems happy!)

Hope the big convo goes well Holls x

KitKat1985 · 04/02/2015 19:20

Oh and Jessica can't sit either. Sad

Hi all, just catching up as I am in a different time zone

Rolling

He is starting to roll over from back over to front so I have had to stop swaddling him and have popped him in a stretchy cotton sleeping pod so that he can push out and turn himself if it happens at night time. He's not sleeping as well, as he find the new freedom a bit too exciting! But hopefully he'll get used to it soon.

Cumbrian sweet almond oil works, we've had a bit of the cradle cap. And massaging with a flannel in the bath.

Clothes,

ella he has newborn nightshirts and 3-6 month grown suits I think he must have big legs

honey bear , nazly I can't find trousers to fit either I will take a look at leggings but shorts are working (its summer here)

red, cumbrian Putting arms in the outfits is such a palaver I have to let him chew one of the sleeves while I pull the other arm through...

redtoothbrush it's very hard to settle him during the day as well, the naps are getting very short. I'm not sure whether its the new sleeping arrangement or his age

Neena88 · 04/02/2015 19:41

Oh, forgot wanted to ask does anyone have a wriggler in the cot? We always find him at the bottom or like kitkat has once done a 180 turn! haha
He is also fond of bouncing which can be quite noisy in the night!

Honeybear30 · 04/02/2015 19:53

No rolling here either. Gets onto his side and then gets really cross.

Cradle cap - I've been rubbing in baby oil with a baby toothbrush and then shampooing off. Has worked well. I hate the look of cradle cap so I'm quite obsessive about sorting it!

DS took 7oz of formula and then boob as well tonight Shock. Hoping this means a good sleep. Having a washing machine delivered tomorrow some time between 7 & 7. What's the betting tomorrow DS will choose to sleep in and I have to be up at seven just in case?!

ApplesTheHare · 04/02/2015 19:59

Neena we have a night bouncer too. Very strange!

Have made sweet potato puree and parsnip puree this evening. Feeling proud and DH thinks I'm bonkersGrin

holls2000 · 04/02/2015 20:11

apples, making puree makes me feel all The Good Life and makes up for the favt that I formula feed, shoved him in own room early, encourage postman pat viewing etc Grin

here we have an intermittent roller, today he tried to get feet in mouth, at swimming when he was meant to be flat on back he had legs at 90degree angle...

in his cot, he invariably wriggles so he is stuck between the two sides. bonkers boy.

cradle cap he has it quite badly and has quite dark hair so it shows up. I have slathered zeroderm on and it does work. I just don't do it regularly.

TeamEponine · 04/02/2015 20:13

Thanks, will look into the teething stuff!

I decided to tackle the cradle cap yesterday. I rubbed in olive oil about half an hour before washing it off. I then brushed her hair with a nit comb. It was very disgusting effective, but it now looks worse as lots is dislodged but not off. I'm going to try it every couple of days until it is all off. DD still has longer baby hair with new shorter hair growing through underneath. Lots of her baby hair is coming away with the cradle cap! Sad

KitKat1985 · 04/02/2015 20:59

Christ, just found out my ex (last guy I dated before DH) died this morning. We didn't end on good terms so I don't really know how I feel about it, just a bit shocked really. He was only in his mid-30's. x

OP posts:
Honeybear30 · 04/02/2015 21:17

Oh wow kitkat I'm sure that is a shock. Can you talk to DH about it or does he not like to talk about exes?
