ooh team we have that when I try to pull the bits that have come away out they bring hair with them.

topmammy · 04/02/2015 22:34

Jessica is the oldest baby on here I think and she hasn't rolled fully yet and can't sit. She can roll onto her side from her back though but that's about it. She detests tummy time and just doesn't seem able to put weight on her arms at all, they just sort of lie there while she face plants the floor and cries. She was 3 weeks early though so I'm thinking she's probably just catching up in the physical development department. Some babies never roll or crawl though I'm sure I've heard.

Ah we have cradle cap here too. I haven't done much to it as I thought it might sort itself out but it's not so I've started using that dentinox shampoo. No amazing results as yet though. Might try the almond oil instead.

jay I used to do those jerks as I dropped off to sleep too. Not so much now I'm sleep deprived lol. My hubby does it a lot too and also gets sleep paralysis where he wakes up but can't move or open his eyes till his body wakes up properly or something. It's probably shift work that's messed up his sleep. Scary!

team I've not tried it yet but I've heard Nelsons teething powder is good.

Neena88 · 04/02/2015 22:39

lol apples, I have no idea whether he is asleep or awake while he does this as he doesn't say a peep.

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 22:54

Oh kitkat how horrible. Are you friends with the same people still? Hopefully your DP is secure in himself to let you talk about it with him.

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 22:55

Oops sorry too early. I guess it might not sink in for a while as I guess you don't talk much is it didn't end well. Hope you're okay

So many posts today x
Top I am so glad you mentioned the sleeves/arms when dressing... It is a massive pain in the backside here as whenever ds is tired specially after bath he screams and cries through it.

After reviewing quite a few different sources and researching and observing , I think development is definitely based on due date not birth date, (so we have a sept baby.) but I mean brain development. Physical development is different for each baby as is their size, etc; motor skills both gross and fine are a result of physical strength plus practising. For example ds is brilliant on his tummy but not so good on his back as he just does not to be left on his back even shortly... (Reflux) so he has no practise in any move starting on back

Red rolling may come anytime between 5-9 months...

Kitkat hope you are ok and out of shock ..

holls2000 · 05/02/2015 07:04

the wonder weeks thing is done on due date not birth date.

kit kat so sorry to hear your news. xx

ok. so I am now officially fed up of waking up 90 bazillion times a night (slight over exaggeration there) to replace dummy. 2.10, 5, 5.15, 5.45, 6 etc etc and last night dh had a nightmare so screamed. do you thibk (a) this coincided with me already being awake or (b) didn't. anyway advice please on encouraging b to sleep more. ewan usually works but then he stops. I need a ewan control that I can press in bed to make him do anothee cycle.

Honeybear30 · 05/02/2015 08:43

We don't have a Ewan, we have a light projector that plays soft noises and activates when baby cries, would something like that work? It doesn't work for us but if Ewan is working maybe it might for you holls?

I've found it works to get him off for a nap during the day but it's too stimulating at night.

CumbrianExile · 05/02/2015 09:18

We have one of those Honey, helps A off to sleep at night.

Sorry to hear your news KitKat, even though you are no longer together it is still ok to grieve a little.

I think A doesn't like socks. He has discovered how to get them off already!

ApplesTheHare · 05/02/2015 10:03

holls how old is your ds now? Baby Apples has been MEGA unsettled in her sleep for the past few weeks but seems to be coming out of it as she's slept through again the past 2 nights. She's nearly 22 weeks. Also saw your post about pureeing, it makes me feel so Good Life too, haha!

KitKat sorry to hear about your ex. Must be a shock, and these sorts of things always make you think Flowers

Neena I'm pretty sure Baby Apples sleep bounces... maybe she's dreaming she's in the jumperoo?? Confused

FATEdestiny · 05/02/2015 10:53

replace dummy. 2.10, 5, 5.15, 5.45, 6 etc etc

Holls - why don't you feed?

Replacing dummy is fine for the 2.10 wake up there, cos he settled afterwards. Likewise I probably would do dummy for 5.00 and 5.15 but if still unsettled then a feed would work.

Don't worry it won't be forever. It is likely to be the 4 month sleep regression. Last week, at almost bang on 4 months my DD started waking early morning (somewhere around 5am, give or take an hour) and wasn't being settled by the dummy. So have started offering a feed and she settles straight back to sleep afterwards.

This is after her sleeping through until 8am without any night feeds since 8 weeks old. She's increased her daytime feeding significantly this week too - so the 4 month regression must be hard for those breastfeeding and need to up supply.

I'd guess that she'll need a week or two to re-establish a new feeding routine through the day so that the early morning feed will drop all by itself.

I also cannot understand why you have him in a different room to you if you are getting up in the night still (even to replace dummy). I guess I am far too much after the easy life and value my sleep too much. But dummy re-insertion for me means reaching arm out into bedside cot at first murmur without even opening my eyes.

fate - because he isn't crying and isn't hungry just likes the soothing, as far as I know.

he is in another room because his cot doesn't fit in ours and because he prefers the space of it to the space (or lack of) he had in crib.

holls2000 · 05/02/2015 12:51

this change in sleeping happened a couple of weeks ago....he went in own room on jan 2nd

Honeybear30 · 05/02/2015 13:13

I think you're doing great not to feed holls, I give in far too easy when I could probably persevere with the dummy. DS doesn't sleep in our room either and I have to get up several times a night. But when he was in with us neither of us were sleeping properly, just disturbing one another. At least this way I get proper sleep in between wake ups rather than responding to every tiny snuffle which is what was happening before.

SleeplessSeattle · 05/02/2015 13:21

Holls do you not feed at night at all then? I'm still up at least twice a night just feeding, is that not necessary at this age (my ds is 19 weeks on Friday)? He co sleeps and feeds on demand and I'm scared I'm
Setting myself up for a problem later on

holls2000 · 05/02/2015 13:24

exactly honey - I felt in our room he was disrupted whenever we went in there and whenever he made a noise I was wide awake!!

holls2000 · 05/02/2015 13:27

sleepless he hasn't wanted feeding at night since xmas eve when he started sleeping through. he dropped his midnight and 3am feeds in one go! he now feeds 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm more or less. last week he was squeezing in a 6th feed - growth spurt week!

ApplesTheHare · 05/02/2015 13:32

Can anyone share a link to a good teething gel? I've heard anbesol (ap?) is great but I had a look and there are so many options to choose from Confused

CumbrianExile · 05/02/2015 13:35

Holls out of interest, is your lo happy in his cot at these times when he wakens? You say he isnt crying or hungry, does he really need the dummy put back in? I ask, because A often wakes up at about 5.30 - 6, has a kick about and sometimes a little chatter to himself and then goes back to sleep himself, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes it can be about 20 minutes. The first few times it was happening I would get up and do the dummy thing, but then was being lazy one morning so left him and he just went back to sleep. If he seems happy enough maybe try just leaving him and see what happens?

Sleepless A goes from about 7.30 - 8pm to 7.30 - 8am without a feed. He is formula fed so not sure if that makes a difference, but he seems happy enough, and certainly doesn't cry for food. Well not til 8am if I am trying to get comfortable with the bottle in his view anyway Grin

FATEdestiny · 05/02/2015 14:59

Holls - Maybe worth a try for a couple of nights to see if a feed gets your DS to settle back to sleep so that you don't have more sleepless nights? Definitely keep going with the dummy initially. I am usually willing to do half an hour of dummy back in. That always works. Except the last couple of days when she's going through a developmental phase.

For the last couple of nights, when I've needed to bring back a feed for the 4 month sleep regression, DD hasn't been crying in the night. She just wakes and isn't going back to sleep. Hence the feed. It's just developmental.

She goes straight back to sleep then. And so do I! Half an hour awake rather than 2 hours. Everyone's happy Smile

KitKat1985 · 05/02/2015 16:04

Hi all. Just popping in to say hi to all and thanks for your messages. I really am okay, I think I was just a bit shocked yesterday more than anything.

I had a pretty average night last night with Jessica (she needed 2 night feeds) but really flagging today for some reason. I could do with a nap except she's asleep on me in a position that I can't sleep in, and if I move her I'll wake her so am Mumsnetting instead! x

FATEdestiny · 05/02/2015 16:45

Glad you are OK KitKat. I had a lunchtime nap with DD yesterday (plus an early night at 10.30). Felt brilliant today as a result. I hope you get some sleep later! x

holls2000 · 05/02/2015 17:03

fate thanks I may try a feed. Cumbrian I am really bad at seeing if he will go back to sleep. will try that too!! Grin
