sleepless B has been teething since xmas and No Bloody Teeth Yet. however anbesol works wonders.

holls2000 · 03/02/2015 21:35

lil bless her. hope the doc sorts it.

I thought b had wind as he has spent the past 24 hrs basically with his legs in the air - nope he jas just discovered a new trick. today he rolled twice and tonight he grabbed his foot. what with that and baby rice and having had a growth spurt I feel today has been v developmental!!!!!

SleeplessSeattle · 03/02/2015 21:42

Hi everyone! Sorry I worded that wrong - I meant that I couldn't get out of bed when he was tiny so he just stayed in my bed and now hasn't left! Saying that, I didn't actually tear that much (only at the front) but my stitches got massively infected, and have only really cleared up in the last few weeks (I didn't realise the pain was more than normal pain so didn't get it checked out for ages Confused) but am just finishing off my antibiotics so hopefully will be okay soon. I went to try and get a cool put in and couldn't have the nurse put her finger up (sorry!) let alone the speculum so apparently the stitches might have been too tight and there's talk of getting them redone. I'm never having sex again at this rate Sad

Oh I might be using the wrong terminology, we've got two bottom front teeth! But he's still crying a lot in pain, I'll keep an eye out for that gel!

Fate that list is amazing, one of them is near so I'll make sure I go along.

Lanaandmaria2014 · 03/02/2015 22:12

Thanks for the welcome. Tomorrow I'm going to a BF cafe near where I live in North Germany, it's only just started up, just hope there'll be a few english speakers there, though I am trying to learn German, I also want dd to meet other babies her age.
She's still having a spoonful of pear puree a day and a spoonful of carrot puree in her formula. In Germany they tell you to start this at 4 months.

FATEdestiny · 03/02/2015 22:34

lilone - if she's on milk only then there is something to worry about with having hard poo. Even through it has cleared, I might still talk to the HV about it.

(glad it is better now though, that must be a relief for you both)

Good luck at the BF café Lana. Do you have parent and toddler groups to go to there too?

CumbrianExile · 03/02/2015 23:24

Welcome to the newbies Smile

Sleepless I second the anbesol, A has seemed to be teething for ages, with no teeth coming through, but the anbesol seems to help. I would go for the liquid as opposed to the gel, as that is what was recommended to me!

Top me and my DH watch Grimm. Watched the latest episode over the weekend. Other series I am currently watching are Bones, Orange is the New Black, Ripper Street and Constantine. Also looking forward to Bosch, which is on Netflix from next week.

We also call A Poopy Pants, Doodles (my favourite!) and cutie pie. But I do try and use his full name more Grin

My first baby group starts on Monday, and I am a bit nervous as to how we'll go! It's just been the two of us here at home during the day so he'll no doubt find it a bit overwhelming.

You all have such lovely suggestions for play time, I have bought an inflatable drum filled with bells and balls which he has had lots of fun picking up and trying to push and climb over. This weekend I'm going to get him a door jumper or a jumperoo. I'm hoping to get a few spare minutes to myself with these! Although he does find it hilarious to watch me do the dishes from his bouncer chair if I tell him what each thing is when I put it in the rack!

I'm following all the discussion about solids, as I really don't know whether to start with fresh veges and fruit or baby cereal. He is already very interested in food that we are eating and I think I'll look to start when he turns about 5 months in a few weeks.

Hope you all have a settled night

Hope everyone had a better night than we did. I was up every hour with DS, he only wanted the dummy back in so back into bed in minutes but I'm still super tired this morning. He's been constipated for two days so think that's what was waking him up. Lots more tummy massage & cooled boiled water today to see if we can get things moving.

KitKat1985 · 04/02/2015 07:51

Ella we changed Jessica's wardrobe at the weekend over to her 6-9 month stuff, as a lot of her 3-6 stuff was getting too small. It's difficult as she tends to have a few weeks of being in-between sizes as whilst a lot of her 3-6 stuff was getting too small some of her 6-9 stuff is a tad too big, but I figure looser clothing is more comfortable than tight. xx

Sorry about the rough night Topsy. Take it easy today. xx

Kitkat I try to put clothes away individually as they are very different sizes. Currently ds is in the (last and) biggest 6-9m babygro and this morning I felt really mean as it was quite tight but I was a bit tired for change of outfit - so we are now completely in 9-12m clothes (apart from the odd loose 6-9m shirts which may still fit)

Ella you got good use of the clothes, ds was out of 0-3m in NO TIME! Feeling sad he is growing so fast, but also happy he is growing.

I find many shops now only have tight trousers ; do you know any affordable shop for chubby babies ladies? I had to put away two new trousers (one gift and one I bought myself naively)as they did not fit.

Honeybear30 · 04/02/2015 08:39

nazly I've found leggings from h and m to be the best for DS. They come up really high on the waist so don't come down all the time and also have feet to avoid chilly legs. I haven't found proper trousers that fit him at all, he's too big and I just think they look uncomfortable. His thighs are huge so trying to get them up and over is a nightmare. I have to say we are mostly still living in baby grows here, but smart ones for the day and then just plain for night time! I'm about to put away our 3-6 months, and do the same as you and just put items away individually as they don't fit anymore.

Update on the formula at bed time... DS does seem to be sleeping in longer stretches and is happier to take dummy rather than have milk in the night more frequently (was hardly ever before!) Could just be a coincidence. But I'm getting some better sleep so I'm happy. Also dh did bed time the other night which was a very welcome break for me!!

CumbrianExile · 04/02/2015 09:03

We are still very much in 3-6 months here, although A has long legs (and a short body) so some of his trousers are looking a little short. I'm not ready to move him up to 6-9 months yet though!

Zanashar · 04/02/2015 09:09

DD must be a little dot......she's still in some 0-3 months for outfits but think they'll mostly be packed away very soon. For babygros a lot of her 0-3 still fit okay but she's graduated to a few 3-6 now. She's now finally putting weight on properly as opposed to being on 9th centile just beforechristmas so hopefully the 3-6 won't last as long!!
We've tried baby rice for a few days and most ends up on her face and clothes but will persevere. Cubes of carrot and parsnip purée are waiting in freezer.Grin

Topsyloulou · 04/02/2015 09:18

Glad the formula seems to be working Honey & your both getting a bit more sleep.

We're still in 3-6 months clothing but some of it is starting to get on the snug side so I got the 6-9 month clothes out & sorted on Monday ready to wash & swap out as needed. I also put things away individually as sizes vary so much.

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 10:16

Were still mainly in 3-6, a few 0-3 vests still but the 6-9 still looks huge!

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 10:18

honey whenever my DP does a night feed and I can stay in bed it's bliss! Don't want to do it too often as he works but once in a while is a rare treat

misog2000 · 04/02/2015 10:27

We are in 3-6 with plenty of width left but her legs are long so we may have to change before they are too small if that makes sense.

The saga of my thyroid continues- went to the hospital for my blood test yesterday lunchtime (clinic blood appts are booked up for months!) and got a call at 7.45 this morning from a hospital Dr to say I need an emergency appt with my gp today as I now have a severely under active thyroid. So I call the gp to be told by the receptionist (who we all know are Drs in disguise Hmm) that she's never heard of the hospital ringing anyone before and she will have to speak to the dr and call me back. So I'm sitting at work waiting for a call now! At least I might get some treatment now rather than just be left to struggle.

FATEdestiny · 04/02/2015 10:29

Glad to hear the dummy and bottle are working for the nightimes for you Honey

DD is only just 4 months old, she's been in 6-9 month babygros since 3 months. 91st percentile plus - she is massive. I only use babygros (white cotton at night, coloured fleece during the day) rather than outfits. I have zillions and zillions of outgrown outfit that I diligently saved, that have never been worn by DD. I love love love babygros

Ella - If you are getting a lot of overflowing poonarmis have you thought about going up a nappy size?

SleeplessSeattle · 04/02/2015 11:31

Ella I second going up a nappy size; we used to have loads of Leaks until we did this.

RedToothBrush · 04/02/2015 11:52

Teeny tiny DS (currently between 2nd and 9th centile for weight), is just going into 6 - 9 month stuff as he is long and skinny with a long body and short legs. Its above average to length (not measured him in a while). He's just turned 5 months. We've deliberately started buying cheap clothes in Asda/Morrisons and Tesco/Sainsburys as this seems to add an additional half size. We have a few separates but trousers are a pain as because he's so skinny they just fall down!

I've still expressing as DS is a fussy bugger and tbh it does make it easier at weekends and evenings and I've got into such a routine with it. We still aren't weaning as with DS's weight being low, I do think he'll benefit from extra calories from breast milk. That said, if you look at WHO charts for other countries with higher breastfeeding rates (eg Norway) his curve is matching centiles rather than dropping slightly as it is on the UK one so yet another case of stats being misleading. Plus he's insanely hyper active at the moment with his backwards caterpillar, so I'm sure he's burning up more calories than a few babies the same age! He's been keeping me up all night feeding the last couple of weeks.

Oh and happy screeches. My ears!!!

topmammy · 04/02/2015 12:42

Jessica is is 3 to 6 mainly but they are starting to get a bit tight. If I have another baby I will just be using babygrows all the way, they're sooo much easier! I have lots of outfits and dresses she's hardly worn because it's too much of a faff getting them on. I really recommend Jojo babygrows, they're really good quality.

I've found that Jessica prefers Ellas kitchen food to mummy's kitchen home made purèes ha! Again Im going to do what makes life easier and buy baby food while she's on purèe stuff.

Does anyone else's baby absolutely hate having their arms put into their clothes? Jessica really hates it and it makes getting her dressed a bit stressful.

CumbrianExile · 04/02/2015 14:20

Top A hates his arms being pulled. He is generally ok with the vest, but another layer is too much haha.

Mis I know what you mean, its the same problem we have, but 6-9 month trousers (if I was to do seperates) are so big on the waist! So he will be wearing trousers up his legs, good job he is too young to be fashion conscious!

CumbrianExile · 04/02/2015 14:21

Oh and I forgot Red yes the screeches, I thought he was in pain the first few times he did it, but he had a great big grin on his face! No idea where he picked it up from though.

FATEdestiny · 04/02/2015 15:04

Top - YY to arms being put in clothes. I can't remember this being a thing with my other children, but DD really hates it. I'm getting super quick at putting her arms in vests and babygros as a result, to get it over and done with quickly!

Red - Nice to see a post from you, you've not been around all that much recently. Are you OK?

My DD does the backwards caterpillar thing, I know exactly what you mean. Does yours do the clockface thing too? I place DD down facing, say, 12 O'Clock on an imaginary clock and she'll bounce herself round to 3 O'clock, then 6 then 9 and back around to 12... round and round she goes.

I've just started getting back to front flips. Front to back get caught at the shoulder. The rest of her body goes over so she gets herself very twisted because she can't quite get the momentum to turn her shoulders over.
