Forgot to ask earlier.
There is a kid in nursery who calls a care worker mummy. This is weird right? I felt like saying "for the record don't answer my child if he calls you mum" as H does randomly shout mum when he just wants any attention.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 15:03

GT I often call my kids by the wrong name so I think little ones can be forgiven. Please do not make a big deal out of it. It is quite natural, and lovely in fact that they call a worker Mummy, as they are clearly being nurtured. To ignore him would be horrid for both, they would probably ignore your request anyway, and it certainly wouldn't encourage his speech.

All the best BP. I have endless admiration for you x

I have now joined the vom party but feel much better for it. I will go into work tomorrow otherwise I will be put on sickness monitoring. I don't think it is the right thing to do, and will agree to go home if they waiver the sickness thing in writing, but they are not going to get me on monitoring!!!!! ( I feel very strong about this, can you tell?)

My kids live in Next, Boden, M&S etc, all second hand and way better than the bits I have got from Tesco and Asda.

One tip is to buy shorts for 3-4 year olds, with a drawstring waist. At this age they fit their big nappy bum, and will still fit them at 3-4, longer if no nappy. I bought (a rarity) ten pairs of Shorts from Aldi of all places, and the kids take turns wearing them, even my 8yo DD1. The shorts were 2 pairs for £4

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2014 17:06

Oooh a new harry potter short story has been released on Pottermore. I really need to get back to pottermore. I quite enjoyed it Blush

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2014 17:14

P was almost run over this afternoon. Like inches away. I think both she and the car driver actually were oblivious but my nerves are not.

Stupid fucker that I am - I was holding her reins but they were not attached to her.

I will pop back later properly. Probably after Wine

GTbaby · 08/07/2014 17:14

No this was a definite "he calls me mummy" as a teacher I get called mum by accident all the time. I don't mind that. It's the answering to being called mum I don't like.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2014 17:21

I think it's quite sweet gt. I'm sure both the kid and the nursery worker are quite clear that she's not his mummy, he's just showing he is attached to her.

pass you well deserve a Wine that must have been very frightening. Flowers

When my little brother was about our LO's age my DSis went out into the village without fastening the gate. None of us noticed my brother had followed and he was found walking down the middle of the main road (which was a far less busy road than it is today but still). A villager found him and brought him home just as we had realised he'd buggered off (so full on panic mode). We were very lucky that day.

You'll relive the moment very often but be kind to yourself.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2014 17:51

Watched the first episode of Newsroom last night. Loved it. Hoping it will fill the void until Greys, Person of Interest and House of Cards come back.

Lily311 · 08/07/2014 17:53

O is in hands me downs. She doesn't have new clothes unless Leo's family sends us. My sister has 2 girls aged 6 and 8 and she gave us all the clothes, I'm very lucky. Also my ex boss saves me some and gives me a pack when I visit London.

We received 2 pairs of shoes today from Leo's family. They send us plastic crap toys, most are useless and 2 weeks ago I told them to use that money to buy shoes for O as they are expensive. Just got 2 pairs which fit. Have they really started listening?

pass hugs
gt agree with pr, pls don't worry
vq sorry for illness again

Date guy does not text anymore, I just don't like playing this game. Tell me if not interested and that's it but don't go no contact on me. Oh well, that's life I guess.

pr just started reading hp again! funny how you forget some parts of it.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 18:19

I understand GT. It used to upset me, but it will happen. Please just accept it as he knows who Mummy is, and loves you like no other.

Pass you are not stupid. These things happen. Thankfully she is ok. Concentrate on that Wine

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 18:19

Well done Lily. Hopefully your ILs will continue to listen, and even ask too x

Zamboni · 08/07/2014 18:42

PassWine. How scary. Glad you and P are ok xx

Lily - that's good re the ILs.

DS wear hand me downs, eBay bundles, charity shop finds, supermarket clothes, whatever. Joggers and tshirts for nursery, both of them, plus often leggings for DD.

PR is that the one with Jeff Bridges and written be Aaron Sorkin ( have I mentioned I love him?)?

I have hurt my shoulder. No idea how. Odd.

GTbaby · 08/07/2014 18:53

Not worried anputv

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2014 18:54

Yes. Aaron sorkins wrote it. Loved the first episode.

GTbaby · 08/07/2014 18:57

Not worried about it. Just find it weird. I wouldn't be happy about it.

Harry potter article on news now!

Pr you would like scandal. 2series.

A start crawling on a Tuesday. Mil is hilarious keeps saying he started crawling yesterday. For no other reason then Tuesday is a bad luck day.

GTbaby · 08/07/2014 19:03

Just been going through the boys clothes. Everything is supermarket. Mum bought A loads of baby grows in sale when he was born so he didn't wear many hand me does.
HnM joggers are great as they have soft elastic on waist.
And a few nice bits from next.
I discovered matalan clothes are nice.
Must admit sis buys them nice clothes. She has started a tradition of buying them a Disney t shirt from any country she visits. Only one to share. So far they have Paris, Dublin and Boston.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 19:13

I love Next. If I were rich I would have everything from Next.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 19:14

I have sent J in leggings a couple of times and been laughed at Blush

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2014 19:36

I love Next too. I love them even more now they deliver free to France. GT I loved the first few episodes of Scandal then went off it. It started really well then seemed a bit, I dunno, meh.

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2014 20:12

Back again.

Feeling a bit more chilled although now DH is pissing me off. Not properly just in a sort of humph kind of a way.

Anyway.

P started her life mainly in supermarket things and hand me downs. We have been incredibly lucky to have friends who has an older sister with expensive taste in girl's clothes. Her own daughter then my friend's two daughters wore before coming to p. I was offered a bag of clothes recently from a colleague who was worried about asking in case I was offended! DH is not a fan of charity shops but has no issue with known hand me downs interestingly. I think we about to run out of hand me downs now though so come winter I am going to have to start buying things.

The most recent bag had some lovely next things so I might have a wee look in there. Actually, I have a bit of a dilemma really. My sister is a keen shopper and is always buying bits and pieces for p and sending them over. Because I never buy for p myself I never think about browsing for her wee boy and is seems daft just to go and buy something for the sake of reciporcating. She sent a next t-shirt and a pair of ladybird tights recently - I think she likes dressing p up. What would you do ladies? Accept with grace and not return the favour? Accept and return the favour with things I do buy for p like books? Accept the favour and just pop out and buy things occasionally? Ask her to stop?

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 20:24

Just accept the favour Pass Smile but if you are ever out and about and see a little something that would be just right for a wee boy, you can always get it if you want. Girls are much easier to buy for, indeed clothes talk to you from the pegs.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2014 20:27

Well I survived today. All three tucked up in clean beds with towels all around them Grin Please God they sleep and do not vom again. I have not eaten a morsel. I am sucking on an ice pole. DH offered his, but I told him to fuck off politely said no.

Kyz · 08/07/2014 20:43

Evening all :)

Glad ageing pussy is still doing well pass, pets are indeed expensive beasties!

vq sorry to hear a bug has hit your castle :( What a complete and utter ball ache. I hope it pisses off soon! Glad to hear you're holding up ok though1

glad having a talk seems to have helped bp :) hope things get better from here :) shocked at your MIL though with the comments she made at you in your own house! Good luck with the exams :)

I like the sound of handle downs wanda :) Bless you it sounds like it's been a looooong day for you

hope your sis has a good birthday eliza

gosh pass sounds like one of those heart in your mouth type moments, I'dve been a tattered bag of nerves as you are. Have plenty of wine and relax. I would accept and then do as vq says and if you see anything then pick it up? Is it too forward to just say to her oh you send such lovely things for p, is there anything i can keep an eye out for your little boy?

glad your IL's are listening lily and no texting date guy is losing out!

LOL gt that is brilliant, your MIL saying A crawled yesterday because it's tuesday today. How did you not burst out laughing at her?

Been raining alot here today, E LOVES the rain. I really need to get him a rain mac so it doesn't matter so much if he's out in it. He has coats but it's warm and rainy, so needs a mac type thing.

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2014 20:47

Hooray for no vom vq. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I think you are right vq. I did once buy him a little jacket with tractors on but I would be inclined to keep things like that for Christmas or birthday. Sister seems to spend half her life shopping which as a non-shopper is a bit beyond me. I might pop out this weekend as p does need some long sleeve vests so I will have a poke about then.

Blimey I am in a bad mood. I have just told DH off for playing on his iPad when I, in fact and playing on my phone. He asked what else I wanted to do. Poor sod got a sulky "nothing! Just bored"

Think I must be regressing!

Elizadoesdolittle · 08/07/2014 21:07

gt E often calls lots of other people mummy. It's not so much that she thinks their me, more that she wants attention/someone to do something. She just shouts mum as she knows that will work!

pass I had an incident like that with DD1. It's a horrific feeling. A real heart in the mouth moment.

kyz Had a lovely afternoon thanks.

YellowWellies · 08/07/2014 21:26

Jonas will say Mummy to DH when he wants affection or when he's poorly and wants fuss Smile
