GTbaby · 26/04/2014 01:25

Off to see a comedy gig tomorrow. And due to some luck sis n mum are baby sitting (rather the bro on his own) so rather then leaving at last minute after putting kids sleep we can leave earlier and have dinner first. Feels like a proper date night. Looking forward to it.

Right better get sleep before the lil man wakes demanding my cuddles.

ValiumQueen · 26/04/2014 08:08

Hi. Survived.

ValiumQueen · 26/04/2014 08:08

Was up three frigging hours.

Elizadoesdolittle · 26/04/2014 08:34

Morning all.

Brew and Thanks for vq and any others in need.

DD1 woke me up round 2:30. I was just dropping off into a deep sleep. Whilst she was very easy to settle it took me bloody ages to get back to sleep and then for some unknown reason I was wide awake at 6:15. Everyone else in the house was asleep. I remembered what wanda had said about just enjoying the warmth of your bed so I did just that would rather have been asleep though.

pr fingers crossed for a smooth journey.

bplp good luck with work.

flouncy don't expect you'll here about the job till at least monday now. how annoying.

gt that's great. Enjoy.

Wandathewindfairy · 26/04/2014 08:53

Oh dear vq and you have your party today. What time is it? Can you have a catnap before hand?

Good tantrum tricks I tend to walk away and ignore. He seems to have got bored of doing it but I won't speak to soon.

Family adventure day today. After breakfast at our fave cafe (and then DHs golf lesson) we are going to find the lighthouse we can see from our house. Grin

ChasingDaisy · 26/04/2014 10:05

Oh VQ SadThanksBrewWine

I'm off for a run with JFG this morning. Cue me trying to look hot whilst running HmmGrin

Happy weekends to all Smile

BigPigLittlePig · 26/04/2014 10:41

I would look v hot, in the literal sense of the word.

Happy weekend folks.

Zzzzzzzz.

PurplePidjin · 26/04/2014 12:00

Happy weekend Brew

We've been for a walk into town and to the park, R is now napping and I've made dragon ear headbands then we're off to a party this afternoon (not VQ's unfortunately but nearly as cool!). It's a very Mumsnet party in the sense that the 5yo boy in question wants Princesses as the theme. Mum reckons his classmates won't all want to dress as that so it became Castles and Knights. For the adults, unofficially, it's GoT :o Then church tomorrow morning and off to see the ILs. Busy busy busy Hmm

tillyx · 26/04/2014 13:34

sofasogood was already taken Sad

I am not even going to attempt to catch up - and will probably fail at keeping up(!) - but just wanted to drop by and say hi.

ValiumQueen · 26/04/2014 14:06

Yo Tillster! You are always welcome, even if you don't post much Grin

Well, Party went swimmingly, and J had a lovely time with GPs Smile

I like to think I made it look very easy. With 4 year olds it pretty much is as they just play together, especially when there is a small soft play area. No injuries, just one melt-down when a guest sat on DD2s chair (as the host it was best to just remove my child not really the done thing to put a guest on the naughty step for being a brat ) and the parents seemed fairly happy and calm. Some lovely presents too - only a little plastic tat Wink And what is she playing with most? The decorations off the cake.

StuntNun · 26/04/2014 14:18

J has learned two new words today and yesterday. Grin In addition to da (yeah), choo-choo and cheers (when clinking sippy cup to glass) he can now say uh-oh and wow!

Zamboni · 26/04/2014 15:26

BP we have a new attachment to one of DD's discarded ikea cuddly dogs. Dog-og is loved. Grin

Glad party was good VQ. Can you chill now?

Yo Tilly.

GT have a fab night.

PP you're a 'sleb!!!!

Lovely day here. Potter in charity shops and a couple of bargains, weather since has been shocking so we've made and decorated a shit load of cakes (using up ingredients to do so ahead of imminent diet plan from nutritionist/sadistic man we've employed to torture us).

We've also been practising circus skills. S can now unlock the stair gate and WALK upstairs. He can also climb up the sofa and body slide down the back (curved sofa against a corner of the room, small space behind) like some kind of commando. Good, good. He's currently having a tantrum because I won't take him in the loft. Well done DH for showing him an exciting new world of opportunities for serious harm.

ValiumQueen · 26/04/2014 15:43

Am chillin' Grin and eating far too much cake!

tillyx · 26/04/2014 15:55

Glad DD2's party went well VQ - your cake looked amazing!

I need to bake a cake for work on Monday but still feel dreadful (was up all night being sick thanks to my brother sharing his germs, yuck). XP is around to amuse M so I can rest catch up on life

Zamboni M has mastered the stair gate too so I'm not bothering with one for downstairs now.

PurplePidjin · 26/04/2014 17:53

R got into the nappy bag and stole my slice of cake I was saving for later Sad Well, I suppose technically it was his cake but I didn't like to be rude and ask and wasn't offered a replacement :o

PurplePidjin · 26/04/2014 17:53

Oh and he can also walk upstairs as long as there's railings to hold onto Shock

BigPigLittlePig · 26/04/2014 19:25

Hey tilly Smile

I think F must have really short legs, no way could she walk up stairs!

Pidj Cake

Last night tonight whoop whoop.

YellowWellies · 26/04/2014 19:44

Jonas can walk up stairs if there's a rail / wall to steady his hand on. He did it in his Dad's Tilly / bush hat tonight - I wish I'd got a pic but I was lurking behind convinced he'd topple over when it fell over his eyes. Got cousins over for a sleep over so all three are going to bed wired Confused . Hurry up and sleep - the grown ups are having a take out curry! Envy

We've had a language leap in the last month. We're getting quite a few two word chats at the most "not dat", " big bit" (food!), "socks off", "dat book" "see saw", " no Mumma", "peekaboo Betsy" he can say " Tiddler" when we read it, make lip smacking fish noises and apparently, with slightly convoluted logic, an octopus says "miaow".

Tilly get well soon xxx
Zamboni I shouldn't laugh but your comment about DH showing him the loft made me Smile
VQ hope you're relaxing now x

ChasingDaisy · 26/04/2014 19:59

Hey Tilly Smile

It's lovely hearing about all the language leaps. Oscar's vocabulary is coming on in leaps and bounds at the moment - lots of words and things that sound like words. He's also getting much more confident with his walking. He seems more mental than physical. He's obsessed with buckles, lids and zips. He has mastered most buckles now, including his booster seat and pushchair Hmm

My quick run this morning turned into 4.5 hours Shock We went to the woods and managed to get lost Grin Had great fun though, lots of running, splashing in puddles, getting muddy, clambering over fallen trees...I loved it but my body is absolutely broken.

YellowWellies · 26/04/2014 20:06

4.5 hour run - fcking hell Chasing* I'd be on a cardiac ward! Well done!

Passmethecrisps · 26/04/2014 20:13

That run sounds awesome chasing! I'll bet you looked both kinds of hot.

Hia tilly! I have missed seeing you on here.

P can do stairs with a bannister and if shallow enough without. She is obsessed with stairs.

We went to the safari park this morning then out for shopping this afternoon. P chose a fabulous panama from H&M.

P has now done one week without her dummy during. The day other than naps. We can safely now say she is day weaned off it because today she dived out of DH's arms and hit her face full on the corner of the work surface in the kitchen. She had her dummy for a few minutes then I asked for it back - she handed it back without a flinch and carried on playing.

Next step will be nighttime but I am not bothered about that for a good while yet.

The language stuff is brilliant. Little j sounds vair accomplished yw. Since stopping day dummy I am fairly certain p's vocabulary has another 15 maybe 20 words. Not all the time and barely understandable but it makes me glad we stopped the dummy. I love hearing her random blethers

GTbaby · 27/04/2014 02:18

Date night flopped. Fh suggested we drive everyone to venue. So we couldn't go for diner. He states he was being polite. Hmm And he didn't think they would take him up on it Angry then driving home took ages with a food stop and then dropping everyone off. I feel so bad for bro (sis was unwell) as he was exhausted from being at work all day. We would have been at home by 11. But with food and drop offs got home at 1.
Then after last drop off fh first words NOT what a lovely night etc. but "you are such a bad driver" I flipped at him. I think he felt bad as he finished off dishes as I sorted A out. Usually he would leave them.
Very angry at him now. What was meant to be a nice day was made very difficult by him and his stupid mouth.

Wandathewindfairy · 27/04/2014 07:25

Oh dear gt I am sorry it didn't go well. Sad

That was quick work on the dummy pass hopefully night times will go as well.

We did adventure round to the light house yesterday. It was a perfect day for it, and we had a great clamber over the rocks on The shore. After an investigation of a nearby small harbour village and lunch In What can only be described as a community shop Confused we ventured home.

Managed to get the rest of my onions planted. I now have onions, garlic, Brussel sprouts, parsnips, carrots, beetroot, leek, rocket, watercress, lettuce and courgettes. Please grow. Please grow!

Paisleychick · 27/04/2014 07:51

I'm growing stuff too Wanda. I have tomatoes, courgettes, chilli peppers, sweet peppers, basil, parsley and carrots. I need to do some seedling transplanting today and then put some more into the propagator. It's a veg mix bag of seeds. Can't remember what's in it. It's good fun isn't it.

Sorry about your night Gt. that's quite rubbish.

I can hear my little one in the cot, he's been awake for a little while. Suppose I should go and get him. I'm really loving that little boy. I'm loving this stage. He's making weird laughing sounds and clicking noises.

MsJupiter · 27/04/2014 08:33

We've been more strict around the dummy too Pass and L only has it for naps and bed. One day a couple of weeks ago I forgot to take a dummy out with me and he actually fell asleep without it! ShockShockShock He was pretty tired but I was still amazed. Gives me hope we will be able to wean him off it completely when the time comes.

Does anyone else still get those monthly emails from baby websites? I got a few yesterday as L turned 18 months all saying it was time to start thinking about potty training, buy a baby seat for the loo etc. I know some children start early but I was quite surprised by that.

We are all ill here with coughs sore throats and gunky eyes Hmm but had a surprisingly ok night with only one wake up.
