Awwwww they're wee buggers sometimes who drive us mad with tantrums, irrationality, sleep deprivation and general relentlessness but we'd not be without them. Hope you managed to have a good time despite flight stress and missing your boys! Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 05/05/2014 16:57

Quiet today...

ChasingDaisy · 05/05/2014 17:24

Bank holiday over here.

Was so lovely to spend a full day with O today. We went to the canal and he absolutely loved it. He was fascinated by all the boats, dogs and ducks and did lots of walking. I heard him say 'doggy' for the first time Smile

Wandathewindfairy · 05/05/2014 17:31

Sounds lovely chasing and the weather looks great.

How has the up cycling gone yw and what paint did you use OOI?

Beginning to feel daunted by tomorrow's task.

A plane.

A bus.

A train.

Foots.

A full days work.

Am knackered thinking about it. Perhaps I should go to bed. Hmm

YellowWellies · 05/05/2014 17:46

Painting has gone really well Smile I used Autentico Troubled Water (its a duck egg blue / light teal) - just need one more coat on the third chair and then I'll wax everything tomorrow night. Anyone waxed painted furniture before? Any tips?

PetiteRaleuse · 05/05/2014 17:59

Masses of luck tomorrow wanda I hope it all resolves itself soon.

ChasingDaisy · 05/05/2014 18:13

Oh Wanda, I really feel for you. Definitely get an early night.

The guy I went for coffee with on Saturday is coming round tonight to introduce me to Game of Thrones for the first time...

ValiumQueen · 05/05/2014 18:20

Game of Thrones is full of sex and violence Chasing. Enjoy Grin

Another day at the Safari Park. We will get our money's worth out of these tickets! J is coughing, as is everyone else. Bed swapping tonight as work tomorrow and we all need as much sleep as we can get.

Wanda big hugs xxx

GTbaby · 05/05/2014 18:20

Wanda I thought I bumped into you at heathrow on Friday. And for a split second I couldn't remember your name. Kept thinking Sophie. Lol. Well as I got closer I realised it wasn't you.

Im near heathrow. So if you fancy a curry let me know.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/05/2014 18:26

I'm home alone (during the day) with the girls all week as nursery is closed. I'm still not very good at this SAHM thing. Today was admittedly messed up by paed appointment but tomorrow they are spending as much time as I can outside, running. Am trying to plan an activity of some kind for every morning and afternoon. With predicted rain and school holidays on (not taking two toddlers to the very busy zoo alone for exmaple) they'r going to be quite shite activities but at least when they are strapped in the car they are not running around throwing toys at each other and screaming.

So tomorrow morning, park.
Tomorrow afternoon, walk along the river (in the rain)
Wednesday morning shopping trip to buy pjs for dd1
Wenesday afternoon walk in the forest in the rain
Thursday etc etc etc

Daren't try the market or anything like that as they will just scatter and I won't be able to control them.

During LO's naps we are baking.

Am hoping to set up a playdate with shrink's son too and another mum was also going on about how much hard work nursery holidays are and said she'd call me.

Could this be the beginning of having mummy friends finally? The introvert in me just wants my quiet time back but I have to say yes to everything for the girls...

Wandathewindfairy · 05/05/2014 18:55

Yes you do pr and play dates make life so much easier particularly when they are at some one else's house I am a stay at homer really, but I have just had to take bull by horns and get out there, most of the time I really enjoy myself and a network of women friends is most important.

Lol gt it so could have been me but on this occasion it wasn't.

Lily311 · 05/05/2014 19:02

pr yes. I don't like my neighbour but I keep saying yes for play dates for the sake of the girls.
wanda hugs

Had a very whiny toddler this afternoon, she wanted to watch television instead of eating dinner, having bath, etc. Strange seeing her so stubborn just like her mum.

YellowWellies · 05/05/2014 20:15

I was going to do a second coat on the last chair but I can't be arsed. It'll wait til tomorrow night. I'm in my jammies and our curry has arrived and I'm shattered (but hoping for a shag later...).

Wanda lots of luck for tomorrow. xxxxxx

ValiumQueen · 05/05/2014 20:32

I wish life had a pause button. Not rewind or fast forward, just pause. And I could sleep in the pauses. That would be really nice.

J is hyper and will not settle. DD2 seems to have conjunctivitis but is asleep finally.

I hope you all get a good night sleep x

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/05/2014 21:05

Hey all, had a fantabulos weekend away. A mixture of relaxing and partying with friends and of course DH. It all went so well and everyone seemed to have a great time. It was certainly a 40th birthday for DH to remember. Girls were very well behaved for my in laws and although pleased to see us return didn't really make a fuss. Even E just smiled at me and carried on playing with her Grandma.

And then today had a lovely chilled family day at a local may day fayre. I don't want the weekend to end!

chasing I hope you are going to be watching episode one and not tonight's episode otherwise you are going to be completely confused! But it is bloody brilliant, enjoy.

gt Don't be harsh on her. It seems like you know you were being unreasonable and I understand, but nobody will look after your kids the way you do. Just be thankful that they are fed, clean and happy. You can't ask for more than that. And actually, it is nice for the kids that things are done a bit differently when they are away from you. It makes staying away a bit of a treat fro them. DD1 adores sleep overs with her grandparents and really looks forward to them. Makes leaving them so much easier.

bplp Have been thinking about you and I hope your trip went well.

Right off to get chocolate and settle down for game of thrones. Glad to read of lots of good weekends for all.

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2014 21:23

Evening laydeepeeps.

Just settled down to watch the Falls. I have a renewed crush on the lovely Gillian Anderson.

P got her scuttlebug today. She also got a balloon from a midwife in the supermarket who was there for Midwife Awareness day. Both were greeted were great excitement initially but pretty soon meant I was carrying scuttlebug, balloon and p. I will have biceps of steel!!

She likes sitting on the scuttlebug and enjoyed her afternoon snack on it. She has yet to master going forwards however.

In eye news - it has been healing nicely but suffered a minor setback when I was twatted in the eye by a certain small person. I honestly thought that she had done major damage but it seems fine now.

The up cycling sounds great yw. Can we see pics?

I second the motion for a pause button vq. That would be lovely.

Your weekend sounds grand eliza

PurplePidjin · 05/05/2014 21:45

Me too VQ Wine

Lovely day today. Bumped into Best Mum Friend - her dd (3 weeks younger) very clearly said R's name when she saw him :o The babies get on well and play nicely alongside each other so hopefully they'll continue to be buddies when they're older. We have quite similar attitudes to parenting (which is how we've become friends) so fx we can survive the toddler twitting-each-other years Hmm I don't like playdates much either, I live in quite a grotty flat in town from the outside anyhow when most of the other parents I've met have naice detached houses with gardens. Not that I'm ashamed of my place, I own it and it's MY space, but I do tend to feel a bit odd iyswim plus I'm a bit messy

R wore his new longies but the stitching split and I decided to redo the stars on the bum, so I've been sewing again tonight to make some corrections. Now I need to do some charity shop trawling to buy more jumpers to butcher! His nappy rash is healing nicely with all the air it's getting so I'm seriously considering selling some of my AIO nappies to get more fitters. If I can make more woolly covers for them and reusable folks care to proffer an opinion?

GTbaby · 06/05/2014 01:02

I'm a mess today. Just had a strop at FH because I look fat and ugly. And I hate MY saggy tummy. Wtf. I need to sort myself out weight wise, not fave a go at fh about it.
I'm just having a being unreasonable day.
I cried when watching eastenders because of carols cancer story line. Telling fh that the cases of cancer went up to 1in 3 (I think) form 1in 4.
Had a very moody day.

ValiumQueen · 06/05/2014 07:08

GT I think it is totally appropriate to get angry with FH as he got you pregnant! Grin Any pictures I have seen of you, all of them show a very beautiful lady who carries extra pounds well. Please do not feel bad - you have had two babies in two years and that will affect your body x and you have youth on your side so can work on it when ready x

I have a fitbit. Does anyone else have a fitbit? If I hold it between my teeth all day it may help prevent me eating? Is that how it works? Wink

YellowWellies · 06/05/2014 07:52

VQ I had a fitbit loved it but found it easily lost. My fitbug has hung around longer!

BigPigLittlePig · 06/05/2014 08:45

I'm back! Had a fab long weekend, so relaxed, lots of Wine and Grin and Cake And the hot tub

Have read everything but brain like a sieve. ..

Pass I am glad to hear the eye is on the mend.

GT and Eliza good that you enjoyed your breaks away.

GT I agree with VQ, whenever I see a photo of you on fb, I always see a very beautiful lady. Fwiw dh gets it in the neck from me for all sorts of hings which aren't his fault, so you are not alone Blush

Hiya Kyz, hope the house move is going well.

PR good luck whhhhyyyy??

Chasing I hope date night went/goes well. Can't remember when you said it was.

Belated happy mothers day Lily, glad you had some lovely thoughtful gifts. I can't believe you have been there for a yr now!

YW piccies of furniture when it's done please. Sounds as though it's going to be lovely.

Zamboni, good luck with bed swap.

And vq get better soon Thanks

Phew. Now tomy morning Brew

Wandathewindfairy · 06/05/2014 09:06

Glad you had great times eliz & bp

I am on the bus bit of my journey. Feel haggered already. Have forgotten my glasses, which isn't end of world I have remembered paracetamol but I do tend to use them to hide behind and a lot of peering over the top of them to intimidate my manager

GTbaby · 06/05/2014 09:59

Thank Vq and BP. I'm just having a few up down days. Think the walking in Istanbul really knackered me out. Which made me realise how unfit I have become. And fh kept asking why I was so tiered. He doesn't get why it upsets me.

Oh well. It's a new day. I'm doing a fast day. So I'm sure ill be cranky as I'm hungry lol

BP glad you had a lovely break

Lily311 · 06/05/2014 11:13

Glad that you had good weekend eliza and bp.

wanda hope the day passes quickly. When are you due to go home?

All good here, little girl is in a good mood. New microwave arriving today after the old one blew up. And I need to write the bloody assignment but have no motivation at all.

I have 6 nappies in, need to go to the shop I think.

StuntNun · 06/05/2014 11:31

GT I don't know if you're into babywearing at all but I found that having J in the sling daily did wonders for my health. I had pelvis issues during pregnancy and was practically crippled before J was born. I found wearing J in the sling, even just for a couple of short walks a day to the school strengthened my core, lower back and legs to the point where I found taking up 'proper' exercise, i.e. the shred, was a lot easier as I had regained a basic level of fitness. I know exactly what you mean about hating your tummy, after two sections mine is a sight, but just knowing I am doing something about it makes me feel a bit happier about it. You don't need to do much but a bit more gentle walking or swimming combined with the 5:2 and the shred if you can get into it will improve your mood, fitness, figure and self-esteem no end.
