Simpsonede? Don't know where that came from. Confused

That pic is great kitty DS is in a sleeping bag but we put a blanket on top. I think he likes the weight and the fact that it tucks him in a bit.

bring I wish only twice!

Not sure what's going on with DS at the moment. He used to wake once or twice for feeding and that was it. Other than that he did mooch but if you ignored it he usually settled down. Now, every hour and a half he mooches but it ramps up and up until he's not fully awake but is crying and needs resettling. I only fed him twice as the cry was different (and they were roughly on schedule) but he's just not sleeping well anymore. It's like he enters the light sleep cycle but allows himself to wake. What's going in? He's not too cold or hot I'm pretty sure.

peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 09:13

Oh that's interesting RE sleeping bags! I have a 6-12 month one from The White Company. It's huge but I will try it out for size anyway just for fun today won't use it yet though. What's everyone using then, 2.5 tog? That seems the most common weight doesn't it.

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 09:49

Ds had a 1.5 TOD last night.

Pear. Did you have any joy with your gummy glove? Should i try it for Nora?

We have Nora in a 1 tog sleeping bag with a blanket on top. She sleeps on her side for some reason but I don't think it'll be long before she rolls onto her tummy.

I think I've got us into a bad habit tho, you know how she's incredibly wriggly the latter portion of the night, from about 5 til 7, well I started putting my hand on her tummy and it seemed to soothe her a little, and now I think she's going to want to sleep on my hand forever! She also likes it if I keep my hand in her cot as she goes to sleep.

kittykatsforever · 18/09/2013 10:50

I'm using 2.5, was using 1.5 before, pear they may look big but they are quite fitted around the upper part of body ( so it doesnt come up etc to about belly level) then have loads of room at the bottom for wiggeling etc, as long as it fits at the top that's the bit you need to watch for, kitten manages to snake around in hers and get up to all sorts of positions

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 11:28

Why does ds insist on talking with his mouthful?

Ds: oo oo goo (translation - mm milk)
Me: drink your milk
Ds: goo oo ooh oohgle (translation - he he let down)
Me: will you drink your milk it's squirting everywhere
Ds: ugh goo oo uh oogle (translation - I did tell you)
Me: stop talking and drink your milk
Ds: oo uh uh [cough cough]
Me: well that's what happens when you talk with your mouth full, now drink your milk.

All fun and games in my house. Wink

Frus ~ I've tried it and its super long! Mine is for 6-18 months! Shock That's a big window. He does actually fit it on top because he has broad shoulders like his dad. He made a fuss wearing it but it was after his nappy change and probably the wrong time to introduce it. It's also probably too hot. I've noticed he's not that keen about having things strapped to him or on him so I'm not hopeful!

peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 12:40

Lib ~ no I didn't I'm afraid but that is mainly because b pear has giant hands like his 6ft 4 dad. Do you think Nora would mind something strapped to her hand? It's a shame because it looks really nice for them to chew. Now I need to find time to put it on eBay today Hmm

peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 12:46

Lib ~ it's good that you've found a comforting solution for Nora. I'm sure she will grow out of it no? Maybe give her a couple of days and then slowly limit the comforting time until she can cope on her own. I don't know why I'm offering advice when I know I spoil baby pear with lots of cuddles and hold handing. I can see it in his eyes that he so knows I'll do anything for him lol Wink

kittykatsforever · 18/09/2013 14:27

I wouldn't worry about it lib, it's when she's in bed with you isn't it? She may well just grow out of it or get to a point when she doesn't wake then anyway, I think all kids have some kind of comforter, my dd1 has a teddy/ flannel thing she has to have, infact this is the age they form attachments to things so if you have a blanket or teddy etc and keep putting it to sleep with them they likely will use it as an aid
Oh and I guess i will be the first to admit we've reached 17wks, kittens starting the baby rice!

peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 14:31

Ahh kitty we will be joining you very soon. I just need to get the Hipp baby rice first but had a chance yet. Also think I should maybe wait until baby pear is feeling better.

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 14:34

Thank you owned up kitty ds has has broccoli and carrot mixed mush and banana and apple mixed mush. we'll ignore my baby lead weaning stuff I spouted a few months ago. But he really was constantly feeding. And my poor boobs just can't keep up

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 14:36

Hey, my post missed out my "beep" between "thank" and "you"

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 14:40

What on earth are you ladies ashamed about? Most of our mums started weaning at 4 months Grin

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 14:52

pear mine is because I actually agree with baby led weaning. But with my stress levels and interrupted feeds OT was food or formula.

OP posts:
Lorelei353 · 18/09/2013 15:20

Weaning! I only feel like I've got breastfeeding sorted!

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 15:47

Oh lore stick with the Breastfeeding.

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 15:51

Lor I'm only going to start weaning to hopefully cure baby p's reflux problems otherwise I would continue to bf until 6 months. I'll still be bf anyway. I couldn't stop now as I love it too much and so does pear.

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 17:09

Oh yes, don't stop Breastfeeding pear food is only fun until they are over 1, so milk is still important.
I aim to keep Breastfeeding until at least 18mths I want to say 2 years but dd self weaned of bm at 18mths and I don't want to raise my hopes too high

OP posts:
Librarina · 18/09/2013 18:54

I'm going to be on the slower side of weaning I think, we've only just got the hang of breasfeeding!

pear, if you've not yet listed the mit on eBay yet, shall I buy it off you? I'm interested to see if Noodle will like it.

So, what do you guys do when you're having your tea? We were eating in shifts until a friend suggested we pop N in the babygym while we eat and it's been fabulous, we've eaten together, all sitting on the floor, all this week and she seems to like it!

FrussoHathor · 18/09/2013 19:40

You really want to know lib? Well... I sit on the sofa with my dinner ready cut up on a pillow next to me, and ds attached to my boob and propped there with a couple of cushions. And attempt to eat my dinner with only a fork and not drop any on ds' head. Grin needs must I say.

And when dd1 is in a loving mood I pass ds over to her to hold whilst I scoff eat the rest of my tea.

OP posts:
kittykatsforever · 18/09/2013 19:42

Lib we eat when the kids are in bed, always have since we had dd1 although while she had colic we didn't actually have tea together for 10wks! Somedays we have it all together like a Sunday dinner but aside from that we like "our time" and I don't want dd1 having take always etc and we always have one on a Friday lol
Oh frus I'm so glad someone else is, I felt like the worst mummy but we've had 2 weeks of waking up ( after 4wks of sleeping through)and trying extra milk and it just wasn't working Hmm
Pear - we've not droped any milk feeds just added a portion of baby rice in at 5, started Sunday she has slept through the night Monday again although the amount she's had is so minimal, probably only swallowed 1 or 2 spoonfuls if that think ill stick with that for a few weeks as want to do it very slowly

kittykatsforever · 18/09/2013 19:44

Oh and we were all weened at 3 months never mind 4! Lol

peardrop2 · 18/09/2013 19:58

Lib ~ yes you can have it if you want. It's not been in his mouth so it is still new. I paid the discounted price so let me just check what that was. I'll pm you.

Frus ~ have you tried the bottle yet?

I've tried the Doidy cup with cooled boiling water. I don't understand but he knew exactly what to do. He grabbed the handles and put it to his mouth. He didn't like the water though as he gagged. I need to try again this week with breast milk. How does he know what to do? Really odd!
