I'm Envy at some of the great sleep going on.
Pretty crap night with N last night. She really didn't want to be put back in her crib. Sad
Bad sleep over the last couple of nights has destroyed what little progress I'd made with a daytime routine and naps. Finding it hard to juggle N and DD1. N always wants to be fed when I need to be doing things with DD1. Nevermind. Every day is a fresh start and we'll figure out a routine eventually.

dinkystinky · 08/09/2013 20:39

Snfed - the whole sleep thing can suddenly turn a corner so hold on in there. I co-sleep after the first wake up - far too lazy/knackered to battle him back into his cot and rather like the extra snuggles as I know j is definitely my last baby.

Cheek - thanks for asking re last night - he went 6.5 hours then two more wakes and feeds before getting up at 7.30 today. He has been sleeping loads today so hopefully he is feeling a bit better having done his epic poos yesterday. Good luck with the new bedtime routine.

Thinking - happy birthday to ds2! Glad you had a lovely day and M slept in, in honour of the occasion!

Abzs · 08/09/2013 22:26

Another snuffly baby here. He's been snotty the last couple of mornings, and is feeding on a little and often routine as others said now I think about it.

As for an actual routine, that's something we need to start. He's pretty set on feeding at 10.30-11ish then going to sleep, but the evenings can be a bit of a grumpy cluster feeding mess.

I'm at my DF's just now after being at a wedding yesterday so he's a bit disturbed and over tired. Caught up with a load of friends that still live down here who's babies, that I hadn't met yet, are now small people not babies at all any more. Scary. (Who's or whose? I doubt my grammar). He wasn't keen on the loudness of 100 people and a band in a marquee, but didn't mind sleeping in a tent. He and I still went to bed at 10.30 though.

MrsRoss26 · 09/09/2013 12:27

Afternoon all Smile we are having a good day so far. I'm trying to get C into her basket again, as she turned into a velcro baby during the 6wk growth spurt. So far so good, managed to get her in after several attempts and she keeps self-settling during the current nap. Fx this continues so I can get my own naptimes without her being attached! I do like dinky does at night, though with the rise in kicking and shuffling that may have to change now.

Sorry to hear about all these snuffly babies Sad Abzs your weekend sounds great fun, well done on camping with your lo!

SNFED I hope N's nighttime routine improves soon for you. I am very jealous of other's routines, but trying to be patient and let C drive things for now.

Has anyone noticed a horrid dip in the temperature? Having hoped for it, I could wish it away now as it makes for a cold bfing experience!

cheekbyjowl · 09/09/2013 13:02

yes. brrrr . I have the heating on and am making a stew!

Abzs · 09/09/2013 13:25

J has been thrown completely off his usual pattern. Too much change and disruption I think., combined with a bunged up nose and the ten degree drop in temperature. I'd forgotten how cold my dad's house is...

dinkystinky · 09/09/2013 13:31

Attempted mummy and baby yoga today - a total mistake as J wailed the whole way through and neither of us had any fun or did any yoga. Ho him. Maybe try again in a months time.

Abzs - respect at camping with a newborn. Hope is cold passes soon.

MrsRoss - its definitely suddenly feeling like winter now isn't it!

SundaySunshine · 09/09/2013 19:14

Snfed, it must be difficult juggling two (or more) kids, I found the summer hols a real struggle and I'm thankful that DD has started school this year. How old is your DD1? Are there any preschool groups locally that you all could go to together? We had some great, free, Sure Start ones near us where the toddlers could play and mix with other kids and the mums could sit on some cushions and bf. Onviously can't do that for whole day, but is a good distraction for an hour or so.

Silver15 · 09/09/2013 19:35

Sorry no personals today.

I have a cold and J appears to have got it as well. He had his bcg today. He doses while I bf but soon as I put him down, he wakes. I feel Ill and exhausted.

Beginningofthejourney · 09/09/2013 19:48

Hooray I think I have my boy back, had a very grumpy clingy baby over the weekend but he work up this morning seeming much happier I think it may have been due to the 2nd lot of vaccinations he had on thurs so make sure you are all prepared when the time comes. The 1st ones didn't seem to bother him so may have been coincidence but hoping his happiness is here to stay! Fingers crossed for 4 hour chunks of sleep tonight!

MrsRoss26 · 09/09/2013 19:59

Great news beginning! And thanks for the warning about the vaccinations, it's good to know as our first lot are due next week.

Sorry to hear you're suffering Silver. Are you able to put lo in a sling? C has been very attached recently and our Bjorn has kept me sane.

Silver15 · 10/09/2013 02:32

Beginning, glad you have yo boy back.

Thanks MrsRoss, unfortunately I get back pains which makes use of a sling hard. So I do not have one.

J eventually tired at around 11 and I have just woken him up to bf as he kept on making noises in his sleep to signal that he is about to wake up. This made it hard for me to sleep so I woke him up. He is now bfing. DH is at work tonite which makes it hard for me as im feeling poorly.

ClenchingPanda · 10/09/2013 10:24

Just a quick hello from me. JP is over his cold and normal service is resumed Smile. It's been miserable so hope others suffering are on the mend soon.

I changed the boy this morning and left him with DH so I could do some washing. When I returned DH looked at me, held out a stinky baby and announced "Poo-ston, we have a problem".Grin. Made me chuckle...

Cheeseandbread · 10/09/2013 11:09

Clenching- made me chuckle too Smile

Cheeseandbread · 10/09/2013 11:11

Silver sorry you are feeling poorly. I hole you feel better soon. Lemon, ginger, honey and hot water always make me feel a bit better x

cheekbyjowl · 10/09/2013 13:43

Grin panda.

sorry you are feeling run down silver. I recommend getting in reinforcements if you can even if it's just someone to hold the baby whilst you finish a full cup of tea

I'm just coming back from the dentist, I had a fear joseph would cry when they were drilling and I'd come back with a tongue piercing...but thankfully sil came to the rescue.

we had a bin situation yesterday. I won't elaborate but 2 week collections and nappies don't mix. gross. I asked the bin man if he could burn the bin for me but he wasnt so obliging. do you think those nappy sucking pod things are more effective than just nappy bags?

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 10/09/2013 14:00

cheek yuk sounds stinky! I've finally got round to using washables this week as i'm so fed up of stinky bins!
Would some tea tree oil help with any smells maybe?

panda I might have to steal that one Grin

silver hope you feel better soon. I felt rough last week and just had to lie down whenever possible- do you have anyone who can help you?

M has first imms tomorrow so not really looking forward to that. Hoping she's not too clingy afterwards as I have done something to my neck and shoulder and really sore esp when holding her.
8+1

Silver15 · 10/09/2013 16:16

Thank you all for the messages. I'm now on honey, ginger and lemon. DM came to the rescue. She was even able to get both DS ready for school.

Thinking sorry you are sore. Good luck with the imms

Sorry I've got no advice re: bins.

Panda glad normal service has resumed.

cheekbyjowl · 10/09/2013 18:11

has anyone noticed a change in eye colour? If so when did it happen? J is 8 weeks

Beginningofthejourney · 10/09/2013 18:58

cheek think I read they can change anything up to 6 months.

Abzs · 10/09/2013 19:21

J met his Hen Nain (great grandmother) today. Another two 2 hour car journeys, but definitely worth it. He certainly enjoyed the attention from the staff at her home - in both languages. I do slightly regret not having any welsh myself, but as long as he wears a red jersey for the rugby...

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 10/09/2013 19:40

cheek DD1 still has blue eyes at 2 1/2y. DH has blue eyes too. I had blue eyes as a baby, but I remember a teacher in primary school puzzling over my eye colour and telling me l had very interesting grey-blue eyes when we were doing a class project on eye colour. They're now a very disappointing greenish-grey.

Sorry to hear so many people are stiff suffering with colds or sniffly babies, but glad a lot of us are recovering. N seems to be almost over it now.

Clenching - Poo-ston made me Grin

It's been a good day here. N napped really well and has been very happy all day. We took a very relaxed attitude to potty training DD1 because we knew she had a house move, new sibling and a holiday without me all on the horizon. Over the last week she's learned to do all her wees in the potty or toilet and today she did her first poos in the potty too.
Now there's just settling for bed and the night to get through.....

dinkystinky · 10/09/2013 21:50

Hope you feel better soon Silver - my top tip is lots of Vit c and zinc, particularly if bfing. Glad baby panda is better sand hope the other poorly babies and mums feel better soon.

Love the Pooston comment Clenching. When ds2 was a baby we holidayed in France near a town called Pong - my fave all time photo of him is Dh holding his bum up next to a road sign for Pong:-)

Cheek - bin buddy will get rid of pong. We have a nappy bin plus a neutradol in it which works OK. Rather looking forward to getting rid of it when we get j out of nappies though. Ds1 2 and j have all been born with dark blue eyes - ds1 got gold flecks in his last 3, ds2's are still dark blue at 4.

Glad you N and dd1 had a good day SNFED - well done to dd1 on the potty training too!

Glad the intergenerational meeting went well Abzs - must have been v emotional.

Thinkingn- hope Ms jabs go OK. We have j's jabs on Thursday which I am dreading!!

SundaySunshine · 11/09/2013 03:03

Cheek, DD had blue eyes until she was gone two, she now has hazel eyes. I suspect L will do the same going by the pattern of them. Bit of a shame really, as DH has lovely blue eyes ( mine are the colour of slimy mud!).

SNFED, glad you had a better day, yay for DD1 potty training achievements, proud mum moment Smile

Panda, lol Grin

Silver, hope you feel better soon, glad your DM could come and help out. It's totally crap being ill with a baby isn't it. I had a migraine the other day, felt hideous. L decided to be a Velcro baby that day and wanted to be carried upright; I was in tears I felt so bad.

Well I truly jinxed myself regarding my routine! Ever since I mentioned it L hasn't slept at all well at night Sad I'm hoping its just a phase. We've got injections on Friday too so hopefully they don't throw him off track completely.

Hope everyone else with the snots are on the mend
X

9 + (can't remember what day it is today, Wednesday?? How knows!)

SundaySunshine · 11/09/2013 03:05

who knows!
