Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

I bought a lovely black white and red playmat on amazon for 26 quid, these are colours baby sees first. Its by Manhattan toys

wishful H is six weeks and he can go 3 hours at the very most (EBF) so that sounds normal to me. He is very big though (I'm guessing 14.5lb at least now) so I'm working on the assumption he needs more food than a little dot!

DSiL has this playmat, which is nice and padded.

Hi all, I'm a bit of a lurker and have requested to join the Facebook group Smile

DS is in a routine of sorts - he's on formula and feeds at 8, 1, 6, 11 and then at some point in the night. He's been getting hungrier during the day and taking less at night so I'm hoping he's working his way into a routine.

One problem though, he's straining a lot when he poos and this can sometimes even wake him up! It's the sole reason for him being grizzly or crying as he's generally a very well natured baby. I've been doing massage and giving him a tiny bit of juice with water which is helping but hate seeing him with his face all red and screwed up!

Looking forward to reading more about everyone's babies! Has anyone had smiles yet?

Thanks sneezy- P is about 10lb now- I don't mind feeding him constantly- as long as its fairly normal! How padded is that playmat? Could you put it on a stone floor safely or would you need something padded under it?

Welcome karin

It's pretty padded, Wishful. I think it'd be fine on harder floors.

We have hardwood floors and have this playmat which is ideal, but no longer available from ELC.

They also have this mat here which might do?

BonaDea · 25/05/2013 18:55

Wishful - if you are worried perhaps just pop a towel under the mat for some extra padding? You can also those foam mats (like yoga mat material) usually with the alphabet etc which could go underneath for now but would be used later?

Thanks wishful!

Been thinking about the lady below who is still having issues with her tear healing - my midwife said not to suffer in silence and to go to the docs if there were any problems (I had a cut and my stitches got infected. Seems to be ok now but still going to get a referral to the gynae specialist). Please don't suffer in silence! That area is far too important and sensitive to not get it checked out.

Evening everyone, I have FINALLY made it onto the postnatal thread yay Smile

Sofia is doing well, havnt been able to get on here until now as she feeds a lot. And I mean a lot!! She's on and off the boob now as I speak, i am bf on demand, she often goes 30 mins between feeds! Its usually hourly though, more frequent in the morning and evening. Thank god she is better through the night, she usually goes down at 10 and wakes at around 2, 4 and 6.

She is 7 weeks now and has already grown out of a lot of her 0-3 clothes! She is having a growth spurt at the mo and I'm finding she is sleeping more, and giving me chance to post on here :-)

So glad to hear I'm not the only one with bump envy. I love my little girl to bits, but can't help but feel jealous of pregnant ladies!

Can't remember who said they had cracked nipples but one thing I found really helpful was to squeeze out some breast milk before feeding and rub it on crack. I swear this is what helped heal mine.

Havnt tried expressing milk yet, the pump kind of scares me lol. I've got the tt manual one, it makes a weird squelchy noise!! Plus it may be selfish of me but it kind of feels like she won't need me as much if she takes bottle. Think I'm being a bit silly though I'm sure dp would love to feed her every once in a while. I'm not even sure she will take a bottle tbh, tried her with a dummy the other day and she gagged bless her.

Hope everyone is enjoying their wkend Smile and your lovely babies of course

Little one has just gone off to sleep Smile

Wishful Sofia has a mamas and papas play gym which has lights and sounds. It was quite expensive but I decided on that rather than a bouncer/swing. She can quite happily spend a good 20 mins under there now, talking to herself and kicking.

Karin I agree with u bout the stitches, it is best to get things checked out if ur at all worried.. I did a few times, I think I lost my dignity during childbirth! And especially now with all the places I have to end up getting my boob out lol.

Sofia started smiling at 6 weeks, now at 7 weeks she is smiling lots more and she laughed for the first time the other day when I tickled her tummy Smile

Is anyone else's baby laughing in their sleep? A few times recently Henry has done some real chuckles whilst he's sleeping. It's absolutely hilarious!

sneezy that sounds super cute!
jo My LO is 6 weeks and we are just beginning to get smiles which we think may not be related to wind/sleep! Can't wait for giggles.

Oops posted too soon.
jo how big is your wee one to have outgrown 0-3? Emmie Jnr is 10lbs 9 and not particularly long but the 0-3 is still huge (from next so not sure if it is particularly roomy) but up to 1 month is at capacity!

Think babynum3 is long which is funny because I'm so short. She was 10.7 a week ago so I guess 11lb max now. She fills next 0-3 well with just a little room and the weight on them is 14lb I think!

Thanks Trish! I'm still recovering from the cuteness of your bub in his converse... Amazing.

Ah Jo and sneezy you've been getting giggles?! Can't wait for that. DS is trying to laugh when I play peekaboo but sounds more like he's being strangled at the moment...

DS is fully out of his newborn and 1 month stuff and most 0-3 months seems to fit well. He's got very long and narrow feet though which means he's already in 6 month socks!

Baby E was too big for the newborn size on the day she was born, but we didn't have 0-3 with us, so she had to cope with cramped feet till DH made it hone and back!

0-3 is now getting tight, at just over 1 month old...

She was born at 10.3 lbs, and was 11.2 at 4 weeks (last Wednesday ...

Oh I wish we had a routine! Some evening's she fusses and screams after her 8-9pm feed and has a bottle at her last feed, whereas t

wishful we have wooden floors and put a toddler duvet under the gym mat.

Ooh for public BF I really recommend a thrupenny bits cushion, I've used mine to feed at church, the pub and garden centre just this week! With my first baby I hardly ever fed in public but this time I'm more confident and so glad I'm doing it cos it's very liberating. The cushion is light and not bulky, it ties round your waist and comes in funky designs. It's not cheap but a good investment!

Ugh having cluster fed all eve til 1030 I hoped dd might go longer than 1 am - she was wriggling from 1230 and didn't settle til gone 11 :-(

amber DS just turned 2.5. We had a go with potty training over Xmas because he was showing some signs of readiness, he would have been 26mths then, but although he never had an accident he couldn't figure out how to let himself go on demand.

Thanks bunny - don't think DS would manage at all just now- he can control it when it comes to bath time, but otherwise he is just not interested yet. As he's a big boy I can see him running out of nappy sizes before long, so he's going to have to work it out soon!

Hi all Alex has finally relaxed and stopped feeding all the time! He slept for two hours straight last night. He is lying on the floor right now with ds1 looking like a little fish as he tries to wriggle, his mouth is opening and closing in time to his legs Smile

Thanx trish Smile

Emmie Sofia is now about 10lbs. She was 6lbs 6 at birth so has grown so quickly.

Amber Sofia was also too big for newborn at birth, it's because she is just so long! She's on the 91st centile for her height. We bought (and washed) so much newborn as we knew she was going to be quite small, just wasn't expecting such a long skinny baby! Especially as I'm 5'2 and my partner is 5'5..

Tried in her little denim shorts yesterday which fell off her a week ago, plus cute mothercare top with pink stars. Top is now too small and shorts are tight! Definite growth spurt this week.

Have bought her baby gap 3-6 which fits her perfectly (for now!)
