Morning all! I'm guessing that either everyone's enjoying the sun, or most Of the babies are sleeping better as the volume of posts have definitely dropped!

I note we are approaching the 1000 mark, so hopefully someone who knows how to start a thread and add links is thinking about starting a new thread (I don't know how to do either!)

Oh well, off to pop E in a cute little outfit suitable for the sun!

The squeeze station looks good, but in the review if her lo is only eating out of them how will the learn how to use cutlery but des look good or out and about or just storing. My family hav given me all those tiny containers u get in Tupperware sets but never use!

Thank you. First I'd not even thought a bout the fun of a pram in ice or snow!
It's a bit odd with the Barrie dolls as I call them, my frien is lovely but some are her friends are just so hard to get on with. I find them so intimidating, they always seem to look good good and are soo skinny and if anyone not from their group try's to talk to them they tend to shut them out. When I went o my mates hen do, 12 days before ds was due! They were all really nice but then didn't even acknowledge me today!
It turned out not too bad as I ended up getting tipsy with my friends mil!

Oh dear, Catherine, that seems a bit strange. Feel free to rant about them here!

This weather is quite a challenge, isn't it? I think it is harder to keep a baby cool than it is to keep one warm enough; although newborn babies in the winter can be a challenge too when you are out and about in the snow!

Regarding weaning - a friend was telling me about this which looks interesting. However, if we end up going the puree route it will be normal ice cube trays to begin with.

Gosh - weaning talk already! We did a mix of purée and finger foods with DD and will do the same switch H. I found it so stressful though as I have a real fear of choking and I really had to sit on my hands when she would gag!

For those wanting to make their own purees and not use jars you can buy like large ice cube trays, makes loads and freeze
I did this for eldest two and it was easy to keep on top of

I think there is a growth spurt at 12 weeks, maybe that is it?

Rather than wait for baby to go back to sleep is it possible for you to just put him down & go sleep yourself? I just pop the mobile on (we got the rainforest one love it!) & go back to bed after the 3am feed. Sometimes I get woken up again but usually she just babbles for a bit & goes sleep.

I haven't put much thought into weaning just yet. I plan to start puréed fruit when DS is 6 months.

On another note, I've got a problem. DS started sleeping through the night 7-10 hour stretches. Last two nights he wakes up crying for a feed and then won't settle until an hour later. I've put it down to the hot weather so light blanket and sleeveless vest but I haven't had more than 6 hours sleep in 48 hours! I'm Ebf and DS is 12 weeks. Anyone experiencing the same? Any tips?

Just been catching up! All this talk of weaning is scaring me, we are only 11 weeks on Monday so have time to get organised. Am planning to start with purée but I still have first time mum illusions of giving baby exclusively home made organic foods and so need a few months to organise menu's etc. the reality will likely be quite different, bit like how I wasn't going to use wipes!

We stopped swaddling about a week ago. We started not reswaddling after the 3am feed then stopped altogether once she was ok with that. Funnily her arm control & startle reflex got much worse right before it much better which is when we stopped swaddling so it might just not be the right time yet.

Very true she's always seemed to put her fists in her mouth it's the chomping on the boob that seems to make me think she's teething as it never used to be uncomfortable now it stings and feels a bit like a bite. I feel a little ridge on her gum but not a complete bump, so maybe a few weeks or a month, but already getting the discomfort (one of my friends babies started the teething type symptoms at 3 months and didn't get teeth til 9 months, eeek).
She also cries when the bottle is put in her mouth sometimes, like it's hurting her. Then when I put a bit of bongela in her mouth she just went straight to sleep.
Had to have her first lot of Calpol yesterday because she was just not taking a bottle because she cried when it touched her mouth, poor little thing.

I am hoping she'll give me a rough indication when she wants to try food. If she's not given that signal by around 6 months, I'll probably try her on pureed, so around Christmas she can try some mashed potato whilst we have our Christmas dinner (she'll be 8 months old, I think?)

Not in any rush for her to get her teeth or wean though, it's lovely whilst they are at this stage! :)

I am also presuming that E will just let us know when he is ready to start eating! With DD1 we weaned at 17 weeks with purees (as told by HV) and then DD2 reached almost 6 months and was baby led as she just started grabbing stuff. I have not given much thought to weaning E - we are off to the other end of the country in a couple of weeks and I don't really want the faff of food whilst we are away! He seems happy enough with just formula...

He has also discovered his fists and finds them fascinating.

My ds has had his had in his mouth pretty much since birth, won't take a dummy though! I've been told to look or apfeel for bumps on gums to show teething. It's odd I'm really excited for teething but also dreading it!
I've been wondering about the cooled water mite see how today goes and try some, I'll see how much weeing goes on!
As for weening my goal is anytime after 4 mths but will talk to hv. As ds was on full amunt of formula, fact with an extra bottle from abiut 8 weeks i thought we'd b earlyDs is big and loves his food but I read something (mite hav been on here) which was very against early weening because of digestive system and rubbished all the theories about weight and being more satisfying etc! So I think I'll just wing it and presume he'll let me no when it's time!
