Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

Sorry about that Nic hopefully they will have a better night in their room tomorrow xx

bunnygirl80 · 07/06/2013 22:31

teapig dd had to have a hip scan at 6wks because she was breech. It showed a mild abnormality in her left hip so she's got a repeat scan in 10 days.

Sorry to all those of you lacking in sleep. I think it is pretty baby dependent. DS would only ever settle with boob until he was weaned at 9 months. Dd happily takes a dummy if she wakes and isn't hungry, and she's slept 7-7 a few times now. They've been treated exactly the same but they're just total opposites when it comes to sleep

LikeCandy · 07/06/2013 22:49

ratbag I have a clicky baby too! Noticeable when lifting legs for nappy changing and when picking her up from lying on the floor.

jo I ordered another pack of them after I had to spend £5 on 60 lansinoh - I should have enough to go a couple of days without washing now! I also have a 3 sided cot (but am really cosleeping with baby between me and cot to ensure she can't fall). When she's down to 1 night feed I'll try the cot again but I think I'll miss having her so close - madness as the cot will mean only moving her inches!!

BabyCandy has been eating pretty much non stop today. Fingers crossed she has a settled night because I want to go shopping tomorrow morning.
I know it's crazy but DHs best friend and his stunning new GF are coming over tomorrow night - I need to buy something to wear to make myself look/feel a bit more like a human and less like a dairy cow!

toobreathless · 08/06/2013 00:31

tattooed I hope the boys do better in their own room tomorrow. If anyone deserves a good nights sleep its you with two of them!

I also have a clicky baby and I remember DD1 being very similar. I try and pick her up by sliding a hand under her back first rather than under her arms IYSWIM to try and reduce strain on her clicky arms.

WRT swimming, my what a faff! I feel tired just thinking about it! So much work for about 20 mins max before they get cold. But, saying that Go for it! We did baby swimming lessons at our local leisure centre with DD1 which she enjoyed (not waterbabies although very similar and 1/10 of the cost!) we stopped when I went back to work, left it 3 months and went one weekend and she hated it! Sigh. But she is very naturally cautious in general.

I have also been using the little lamb reusable breast pads, bought them after having DD1 so they have stood the test of time and love them. I think I'm going to get a set of black reusable breast pads too from here:

Little C is doing pretty well on the sleep front. She goes down in her pram downstairs sometime between 7pm and 8pm after bath or wash/clean clothes/feed. She then sleeps till 11(ish) has a feed and goes back down until anytime between 4am and 7am. I'm pretty happy with this, she is still under 9lb and I wouldn't want her going any longer without a feed and bless her she eats and goes straight back to sleep.

C had her jabs last week and was absolutely fine....:) she is due to be weighed this week coming. I am hoping she might have put a bit of weight on but I have a feeling we might end up seeing Paeds again. I'm trying not to take it personally and managing most of the time but a little bit of me thinks that maybe I'm just rubbish at BF (now I'm on my second baby with poor weight gain)

Hope everyone has a good nights sleep and is enjoying the sunshine :)

Teapig · 08/06/2013 02:12

likecandy, I know what you mean about feeling like a dairy cow, that sums up the way I look and feel at the moment! Hope you get yourself something nice.

jo and bunny thanks for posting about having a hip scan, it's good to know that it's not unusual.

jo, I really expected DD to hate baby massage. She was the screamy baby of the class but only because she was hungry after a sleep. Once I'd sorted that and we started massaging she was totally chilled. I hope Sofia enjoys it.

tattooed it sounds like you've made the right decision re the twins' room. Fingers crossed you have a better night tomorrow.

bona I'd be interested to hear how you get on with Gina Ford.

Well Teapiglet properly settled at 9.30pm and woke about 1.45am. We are still miles away from the desired 7.30-8pm bedtime but we'll continue to try.

BonaDea · 08/06/2013 03:06

Teapig - on bedtime, i managed to get DS down earlier by making sure he had no naps (not even a cheeky cat nap for 5 mins) after 5pm and also ensuring that any afternoon sleep after 2pm is no longer than an hour absolute max. So, he tends to have a long nap over lunchtime, waking around 2pm, a shorter nap of 30-60 mins at about 4pm then is up and awake from 5pm latest. He then seems more tired and ready to sleep at 7/7.30.

LikeCandy · 08/06/2013 04:23

I think we just manged to go without the usual 01:30 feed.
Not sure if it counts because she still woke up at the same time, with wind, but was settled and back to sleep after about 30s of nursing! Woke again just after 3.
So in reality she did go 4/5hrs without a feed, just not 4/5hrs solid sleep!!

teapig we weren't settled here until 10:30 so you still beat us!
bona there is no way I think I could be that organised! How do you stop him napping after 5pm? DD gets so grumpy when she's tired I am just letting her sleep whenever she drops off!
too I hope we have a sunny day to enjoy after the thunderstorms of yesterday! I wanted black pads too (as most of my bras are black) but have to admit I went for the cream as they were half the price!! I don't think they're too noticeable - might have to treat myself though! (Oh my gosh, how the definition of 'treat myself' has changed!)

edinfirst · 08/06/2013 04:53

Happy birthday sneezy Flowers

HadALittleFaithBaby · 08/06/2013 04:58

candy definitely treat yourself! I bought a new t-shirt (with buttons for good boob access) and hoody last week and its so nice to wear new clothes.

tattooed I think you've made the right decision if its that's hot. Risks of being next door are less than being in such a hot environment.

I might try that sleep pattern bona. Faithlet is always awake at 5 and ravenous! But sometimes she will sleep for long periods in the day and maybe she's sleeping a bit too late in the afternoon? She went down after her bottle at 7.15 last night and I think she'd have stayed down if she hasn't been sick Confused but instead it took from 7.40 til 10 to settle her. I do think eventually she'll settle after her bottle and wake to feed at 11 then sleep later. As it was we got 10-4.15 which is still fantastic!

Today I'm off to get a massage. It's part of the gift certificate Dad got me for Christmas. I had the mani/pedi at 36 weeks but saved the massage for post pregnancy. Then we have a thrown by herself all seems a tad grabby baby shower this afternoon.

Ooh also was inspired by those who mentioned light shows etc and have agreed to buy one off the local second hand FB group. Hoping it might minimise the feeding to sleep.

Sofia has been asleep since 9.50pm!! Can't believe it Smile

I had to get her up an hour ago as my right boob was rock hard.. Was quite scary as I've never experienced that before!! Put her on the boob and thank god she fed for 6 mins. Feels a bit more comfortable now.. I did try to express after but got nothing! Compared to Thursday when I was holding her I expressed 4floz in 10 mins.

ratbagcatbag · 08/06/2013 06:41

Lucy's cold gradually going. She slept mainly in her cot last night not needing to come down into her swing until 4:30am, she did the 2pm feed fine. Now giving her her morning feed, washers on and I'm even debating if she naps nipping round the kitchen with Hoover and mopping floor. Mind you that's only because a bloody cat off the street has come in and sprayed somewhere, I'm fed up of my cat flap going 15 times a day when my cats in bed and I'm definitely fed up of smelling cat pee when my cat never does anything indoors. I love cats but if I catch the one doing it ill throttle the bugger. adds note to "to do list" re. New back door and microchip cat flap

Anyway sorry for rant. Morning all :)

Happy birthday sneezy Grin Thanks x

HadALittleFaithBaby · 08/06/2013 07:27

Argh Faithlet hasn't really settled since 4.30am feed! Fed for about 40 mins, snoozed but started groaning.....puked all over herself then pooed. Went to change her fairly full nappy but the poo kept coming! She's just fed again and sleepy so I'll try to put her down and snooze a bit longer. Thank goodness I have a fair bit of milk expressed - got 3oz in fridge and plenty in freezer as I might struggle to express today!

Happy birthday sneezy! Welcome to club 30 :) hope you have a lovely day Thanks

SneezySnatcher · 08/06/2013 07:28

Thanks mama and edin

Lovely sunny day here! Unfortunately H mustn't know it's my birthday as he didn't decide to magically sleep 12 hours as a gift Grin

Just going to have a lovely soak in the bath while DH makes a 'birthday breakfast' and then going to set myself up in the garden for the rest of the day! All of our brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews are coming over and we are going to enjoy the nice weather and play in the paddling pool.

I may even treat myself to a G&T later and sip it slowly Grin

Life begins at 30!

SneezySnatcher · 08/06/2013 07:29

Cross post! Thanks faith!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 08/06/2013 07:35

sneezy that sounds like a lovely day! Yes have that G&T. I think we're going to the pub later and I fancy a cider!

Happy birthday sneezy

jo we were going to get a bedside cot but its a nightmare finding them so I believe most people say ikea one is best for it, we eventually went for Rachel cotbed from John Lewis, it has removable sides but we decided to keep all up and pop it about a foot from my side of bed, I was worried if I could feed without moving I would just end up co sleeping!

After an evening of screaming we got baby user settled in cot at 10.40, she woke up at 2 & 4 just for dummy briefly but didn't need feed till 5.15.

The evening screaming sessions have been less frequent this week, she is still squirming & crying each feed though, silly wind!

We just finished a 4 week baby massage class, it was really good, most babies seem to enjoy legs/arms. Abdominal massage was disliked by a few though!!

Trishstar · 08/06/2013 09:18

Happy Birthday Sneezy! Have a fab day x

Posted on fb but

H went 10.20pm-5.10am between feeds (put him down at 11.20pm ish tho), he woke about 3.10am and I tucked his arms in and put dummy back in. And he went back off. Then feed at 5.20am and half settled but left him awake in crib and he just slept til 8.45am. Was as refluxy at that feed but shall see how rest of the day is x

Have a great weekend everyone! Grin

tattooedapril87 · 08/06/2013 10:27

Trishstar · 08/06/2013 11:14

Nic will it make your electricity bills high? Or not make much difference?

tattooedapril87 · 08/06/2013 11:26

hadn't even thought of that tbh- i think it as expensive as running electric heater so yeah Will make a difference x
