As a few of us have popped early I thought I'd start us a post-natal thread.

OP posts:

tinkle what a time ur having. Sending you positive thoughts. Glad they are taking you seriously and are trying to help

I survived the weekend with DS meeting sisters large dog. We kept a distance between them so I didnt stress out.

Tomorrow is DH last day of leave, then back to work. Am dreading it. I want it to be just us three...

MarasmeAbsolu · 10/02/2013 23:30

DD1 has had high fever since Friday :( poor baby - hoping she ll get better soon.
after succesful 'night part 1' yesterday, DD2 turned into a feeding devil and would not settle back down and was up from 2 til 5. 'night part 3' was marginally more succesful with her sleeping in my arm in our bed.

Tonight, we have repeated a very succesful 'night part 1' with the brilliant Ewan (!!!!) and DD2 who went down at 7.30 with minimal grumble, is yet to wake up for her feed, while i sit here like a lemon with my breasts about to explode...
Let s hope for more success as the night goes on.

I otherwise love Ewan - very impressed!

Tinkle - hope you ll get to the bottom of it soon. Xx

Meringue33 · 11/02/2013 00:13

Tinkle hope things are ok?
Birdies yes. Would pay about a million for a clean 8 hr sleep. Baby went down at 3pm and I was about to nap when parents arrived for 3 day visit. Still haven't slept since this am and he is wide awake demanding feeds.

Lora1982 · 11/02/2013 01:51

salt1 · 11/02/2013 04:36

Thinking of you twinkle

Midwife came today and was happy with dd's weight as she has hardly lost any so far. Hope this continues as hard to see how much she is having when bfing. Bad news is that my blood pressure is up again so i am off to docs tomorrow for another check and review meds - desperate to avoid going anywhere near a hospital.

SyedS · 11/02/2013 04:51

2blessed · 11/02/2013 05:22

Thinking of you tinkle

Welcome syed. Dd is dear daughter. There is an abbreviations page somewhere, try doing a search - sorry I can't post the link...

Ds has been up since 5 and is attached to my boob the way he spent most of yesterday.
We've had a dusting of snow overnight, think we'll have a lazy day and hopefully I can get some cleaning done.

Bunny222 · 11/02/2013 05:46

No sleep :-( just when I thort we were getting something like a routine :-( and its DHs last day with us before going back to work. Feel like a zombie already...

salt1 · 11/02/2013 05:59

Welcome syeds hope all is going well for you.

Pascha · 11/02/2013 08:52

Morning. Hello Syed. Abbreviations list here

Lora do you think there's a chance you have an abscess brewing in your boob? It would explain why its just not healing.

We have alternate good and bad days. Saturday was a good day, night was terrible, no sleep til at least 4am. Sunday was, in consequence, a terrible day. Poor DH was dealing with everything as I wasn't fit to do anything but sleep til late morning and finally manage to have a proper bath. He used up the expressed milk so I have to start my supply again.

Last night we went back to him staying up til 1am while I went to bed early to get some sleep - had to, I was unfit for anything after DS1's bedtime at 7pm.

Feel very middling today. Asthma playing up again, can't walk upstairs without catching my breath, taking inhalers every hour or more. If it gets much worse I might have to go to the docs. Boo.

Pascha · 11/02/2013 08:55

My saline nasal drops bottle just says one spray into each nostril as required. When DS2 had the snuffles I gave it about 15mins before each feed, more or less, and also to help him get off to sleep.

Pascha · 11/02/2013 09:06

Syed the more you feed the more you produce. If your baby is feeding and feeding s/he's doing exactly the right thing to increase your supply as s/he grows Smile. Its highly unlikely your supply is dropping if you are feeding 8-12 times a day, including overnight, your baby is healthy and happy with lots of wet and dirty nappies. It can feel like it sometimes though.

Take a look at Kellymom its full of useful information and advice and a good explanation of how milk production works.

Lora1982 · 11/02/2013 09:09

I think theres a good chance theres an adcess pascha. Il update when im back i have to go sit and wait for an appointment cos theres not a normal one available

Pascha · 11/02/2013 09:34

Fingers crossed for you then. Don't get fobbed off. If it is an abcess it will need drainig. Antibiotics on their own won't clear it.

tinkletinklestar · 11/02/2013 11:41

Hi all,

Thank you for all the well wishes they mean alot on lonely 3am moments.

We finally have a bit of decent help. She definitely has silent reflux and it is a really severe case, the nurses were pretty shockedand taken back by how much pain she is in all of the time.

So a consconsultant has been today and has changed her medications to ompizole which from looking online is the bees knees in acid reflux medicine.

Being kept in again tonight to monitor her and make sure theres no reactions to the new stuff. Its good to feel listened to, even though the little madam was total monkey and slept for 2 hours in a buggy at the nurses station last night..first time she has slept alone & longest time ever in one go!

Lora1982 · 11/02/2013 12:19

So hes given me more anti biotics and said if it doesnt clear id need to see a surgeon.. Will he just drain it or have to chop half my boob out? He also said to get a cabbage, so i asked if he could put it on prescription :-D

CreepyCrawly · 11/02/2013 12:29

So pleased you're finally getting some answers tinkle

Hope those antibiotics work for you Lora. And light shed on Dexter's rash?

Nancy was quite the fiend yesterday! She just would not sleep. I'd feed her, she'd fall asleep for half an hour and then wake up hungry again. She was on me nearly all day yesterday. We eventually went to be at 10pm, she woke for a feed at 2am and then stated down from 3 until 8:30. She's had a couple of long feeds again this morning and now she's asleep again.

Also, my poor nipples! They used to be lovely and small, and now they look very similar to my dog's nipples after she had 7 puppies!

Lora1982 · 11/02/2013 12:45

Yes! He thinks its scabies ffs!!! So now no one is going to be allowed to touch him and im going to look even more selfish poor sod, he must of got it off my dp who has a skin infection but his dr said it was something called foliculitis which isnt contagious, clearly its not that and clearly im no longer letting dp touchthe baby

Pascha · 11/02/2013 12:45

Very glad Tinkle for your DD hopefully the new medicine will start working very soon.

Lora The surgeon could just drain it but it could recur. The best solution is for I&D - incision and drainage which involves a small amount of butchery but clears the problem once and for all. Someone famous had to have a breast abscess dealt with surgically and she went on to breastfeed for ages after. I can't remember who it was though. Off for a look...

Lostbobbles · 11/02/2013 13:58

Tinkle, so glad you are getting listened too, got everything crossed that the new meds work and take effect quickly.

Welcome Syed, the saline drops I got prescribed from Docs last week are four times a day. ( he also advised too give two of the doses through the night as congestion seems to be worse)

My news is bub went 5 hours last night between feeds, although 2hours of this was spend on DH chest, but I couldn't care less as was sparko in spare room.
Went downhill for my shift though Sad but those 4 hours sleep were bliss.

Lostbobbles · 11/02/2013 14:00

Lora - lol at the prescription cabbage

Birdies · 11/02/2013 16:02

I could have had over 8 hours sleep last night, but I bloody well can't sleep any more. Just now both girls were asleep for 2 hours and I just lay there unable to sleep or waking up the instant I dropped off. I just don't know how to sleep anymore. Anyone know of any herbal things that are ok to take when breastfeeding that might help as I feel like shit.

tinkle really glad you're getting the right support now.

Welcome syed!

Pascha · 11/02/2013 16:28
