DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/03/2012 07:38

Not sure when my smear is due. Aethel Will join you with the older smear takers lol at least they don't use the mental speculums anymore Grin

hawthers · 15/03/2012 08:17

Am in your gang aethelfleda and dsm metal ones shudder

LittleMissFlustered · 15/03/2012 08:21

I should have one. 31 and managed to avoid them thus far >_

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 08:24

seven, no it's not my first. It's my fifth or sixth I should think, have had one every three years since I was 18. Was due one last April but got pregnant which is why I had it this week instead.

iPhone wouldn't go on Internet for some reason last night so couldn't post but minimopsy slept from 20:30 to 02:30, then 05:30 but just had to stick her dummy in a few times and she went until 08:00 until I had to feed her. Yay!

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 08:27

Also, I didn't seem to find the metal speculum worse than the plastic one, just colder!

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 08:29

Oh and I fed her at 02:30 but still only one feed. Normall do 23:30 and a middle of the night feed. It's progress!

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 08:32

Oh and (sorry for multiple posts!), we're flying to Ireland in two weeks when minimopsy will be 14 weeks old, then getting the ferry over a month later. Will be interested to see which is better. I'm guessing the ferry.

OiMissus · 15/03/2012 08:54

He he he! Chuckling at dsm's mental speculums.
I'm very relaxed with these things so smears never bothered me before, but now... Maybe aethel's tip about taking a couple of ibuprofen before sex a smear is a good one.
Nearly 9, I wonder if the offer has been accepted. [hopeful emoticon]
Hope your day gets better lmf. x

KateM77 · 15/03/2012 09:00

Both children slept beautifully last night. DD 6.45 - 6.30, DS 7.30-5 and 5.30-7.20. Which made it incredibly irritating that I woke at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep until 5.30 Sad

Trying to catch up on last night's posts through bleary eyes and summon up some energy to go out to rhyme time. I think a strong Brew is in order

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 09:13

Oi, I am too normally, relaxed I mean, which us prob why metal speculum didn't bother me, but was worried this time due to soreness down there from episiotomy. But was much less painful than I expected. But a bit sore the past cpl of days, achey, you know. Fingers crossed for the house!

NorthernChinchilla · 15/03/2012 09:37

I am part of the me(n)tal speculum gang too; they started at 16 round our way for some unholy reason. The nurses were always lovely, but on my first and second time, they popped their heads up from between my legs to announce their apologies as they'd cut me...[wibble emoticon]

DS sends his thanks to all on the congrats for his first roll, although from his startled look I'm not sure when he'll repeat the experience Grin. I thank you all for the piles of haddocks and books for DP- I truly cannot wait for the 4.5 months he'll be the main carer, it'll make or break him!

It truly is a wonderful area isn't it BJR? I remember landing here for my job interview for the Council, years ago, and wondering why the map they'd sent me included such landmarks as B&Q and Wimpy Burger. Getting off the train into the eighth circle of hell I realised that they were the only local landmarks...

Hope your LO is better figgy and you've not had so many clothes changes so far today!

I know what you mean about the eating aethel, but I wasn't as prepared for it as you. First few weeks, I just went with the flow and ate my own body weight in biscuits, and I know that bf uses up so many calories, but I have never in my life eaten so much cake and chocolate. I haven't had such a sweet tooth since I was at primary school. And just doing my normal walking during the day necessitates muffins!

Glad you're feeling a wee bit better hawthers.

Oh LMF, what a start to the day, you poor, poor thing! Can't be nice for Octoboy either. I would say it can't get any worse but I wouldn't want to be responsible for cursing the day for you.

< hands Kate a massive Brew > You and me both...

Am going out to lunch today with the person who used to do my job. For various reasons we did a three month handover and got on very well, so have stayed in touch.

Figgygal · 15/03/2012 09:49

I managed to avoid my first smear until I was 25 though was invited for 1 at 18 when in Scotland. Will speak to surgery when take LO for jabs next week.

Yay northern on the roll LO shows no interest in moving from where i lay him down tried to roll him on the bed the other day he looked terrified then screamed a lot so think will leave him to sort it out himself.

DH pissing me off this morning he's still in bed with the cold (the 1 I've had since Friday) is being useless and having a major pity party for himself. Haddocks attack!!!

Good luck with the offer oi

Rashkakeller · 15/03/2012 10:22

Morning all

Talking of smears, I have mine Friday week. I missed the one I was supposed to have after having dd so mine is way overdue. I'm a bit wobbly about it too because although I had a c section with ds, I had an episiotomy (forceps) with dd and my bits haven't been the same since! I think the scar tissue tightens up when...er...not being stretched much so maybe I need to do more workouts haha. Prob tmi but I bought some durex strawberry lube to help things in the bedroom department but a couple of days after dtd, dp's fingers starting peeling which he attributes to the lube - if that's the case, good job only his fingers were affected!!

Will catch up properly in a bit cos dd is chatting incessantly and ds has sicky hiccups so can't concentrate!

KateM77 · 15/03/2012 11:24

BJR the doorway bouncers can be used from when LO can support their own head well

Thanks for the Brew Northern that's helped for now. Congrats on the roll. DS is another one showing no inclination to do anything but lie on his back flailing his arms and legs about.

I've also had smears since I was 18 and have had the metal speculum. I never had any issues other than it being a bit chilly.

Any house news Oi?

msbuggywinkle · 15/03/2012 11:46

Morning!

oi heard anything yet? I hope you are celebrating it being accepted!

Re smears, I have Valium for mine! PTSD from DD1's birth issues, tis a military operation getting me in for a smear.

DD1 slept all night in her own bed! I don't mind her being in our bed, but it is lovely when she isn't. She says that she liked it and is going to do it every night.

Joining the dieting...I am living on smoothies. I lost 3lb this week, would like to lose a stone or a stone and a half.

AnAirOfHope · 15/03/2012 12:02

LMF sorry Edward is still ill and that you have been up since 4am too. I think Hopes upset tummy is part of the RSV too but i have made an appointment for her to see the dr. incase its something else but i dont know what they can do for her really Confused. roll on summer.

oi hope the offer is accepted, its so exciting moving house Grin

MsB Belated happy birthday to DD2. Glad the chook is better. Did your cat turn up? How is the fire pit coming on?

Rashkakeller welcome and hello Smile

Get Aaron ready for nursary at 1pm

(not in that order)

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 12:18

My nappies have arrived! I now gave I think 7 different types. Will wash them all today, tomo and sat, then Sunday willbe first day to try them. I hope we get on ok with them as wd save lots of money (and, of course, be better for the environment but if I'm being truly honest it's the savings that are the main motivator ... ).

By the way, does anyone know when it says to wash them three times, are you supposed to dry them between each wash? Ignite could just run the machine three times in a row ...

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 12:19

'have', not 'gave'.
'if not', not 'ignite'
Gah!

jigglebum · 15/03/2012 12:37

Morning ladies. Hope it is good news on the house oi , also let us know if you or your parents want any advice on where to visit in dorset as we are based here. where abouts are they staying? If you fancy meeting up, let us know.

Second day of house containment here. DS not well enough for preschool sadly, although lots better than yesterday. unfortunately freya has caught the cough and is puking after feeds a bit as a result and struggling with the bottle a bit. Slept well again last night though - 10- 8am!

I was thinking about the door bouncer the other day too. ds loved it and spent far too long in it probably. we used it from 4 months ish I think. Thinking about a bumbo too - we borrowed one last time and ds wasnt that keen but it was useful. might get one of those inflatable sit in rings instead though as then we can take it on holiday.

I too need to shift about a stone, ideally before our holiday but dont have much willpower when it comes to sweet things. Exercise is becoming more possible now I have stopped BF. Like you aethel my breasts do not allow much jigging when bffing! Managed a cycle on sun and a swim monday night but really need to get jogging again, but dont think my pelvic floor will withstand it sadly.

I find the witching hour (or 2) the hardest part of the day. DS is hungry and whingy - I am trying to do his tea, sort our dinner out and freya normally wants feeding. I try and survive it by counting down till 730 when ds will be in bed and by feeding freya with the hope she will sleep over bath time etc. and praying dh is not too late!

Figgygal · 15/03/2012 12:57

Just back from the dentist my face is numb and I'm £60 lighter for my White filling, DH still moping and LO won't be put down for more than a few mins at a time due to a snotty nose and dribbling everywhere.

Think this is the start of teething everything goes in the mouth including my fingers most of the time. Listed all his next 0-3 clothes on eBay this morning the next stuff seems to hold some value the rest is going to be donated somewhere or other.

I'm 9lbs up on pre preg weight want to lose a stone in total have banned bread and sweets going back to my diet of ryvita, fruit and muller lights in daytime worked before and lost 3 stone though that was 11years ago.

MissRee · 15/03/2012 13:16

Got my reply from Mothercare and it was just blah blah we'll pass your comments on to the store managers Hmm

MissRee · 15/03/2012 13:32

On the diet front, my plan is to eat everything bad that might be lurking in the cupboards this afternoon, starting with the pancake mix Grin

Diet starts Another day tomorrow!

Had a massive bit of a meltdown at my six nine week checkup this morning. All to do with body image and in particular the fact that my boobs now hang somewhere down by my bellybutton Sad I got offered some counselling but was hoping for an offer of a reduction

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 14:19

I'm dieting too. It's a chore! I am a greedy guts! Have to wear size 14 jeans at the mo though and need to get rid of them asap!!!

Having asked about Lamaze toys I just realised I have two! One on the play gym I was given and a friend gave me one of the dolls with tartly/crinkle bits on her. She kind of freaks me out though. She looks like she might come alive and do evil deeds ...

mopsytop · 15/03/2012 14:20

Not ''tartly' I meant 'dangly'' !!!
