*two not too

InmaculadaConcepcion · 27/01/2012 14:11

Mmm Thai curry.....

Sorry to hear you're still being besieged by cold germs, Scones. Bah.
DD's another one who does very soft poos, but I actually dislike trying to scrape the worst of them out of disposables even more than washables (which I just dunk straight in the toilet bowl!!)
Aquadoodle - genius idea!

DD came back from toddler group today wet, muddy, covered in paint and ravenous. Safe to say she enjoyed it enormously. Smile

So far out and out tantrums are thankfully rare. Overtired meltdowns happen occasionally and she'll have stroppy moments, but at the moment we can usually jolly her out of them fairly quickly. I suspect the amount of talking she can manage helps cut down on the potential frustrations to some degree. That doesn't mean she won't get arsey if she can't have her on way, mind!!

scones poor you re the wash loads. DS stopped been in reusable since July as his nappy rash was getting worse every time he was wearing them. I guess I help the environment for the first 18 months Hmm

IC great that thanks to your DD been chatty there's less tantrum. DS had a big one tonight which I think was linked to overtiredness (he staid at norsery until 5pm so he was full of energy comes bedtime).

PenguinArmy · 27/01/2012 22:00

Oh my, just watched OBEM. I've never cried in it before

BabyGiraffes · 28/01/2012 09:51

Happy Birthday mous dd2 Smile Hope she is enjoying the snow! My two loved the photos on fb...

PenguinArmy · 28/01/2012 10:46

Hope you have a great day mous

rainbow how are things your end?

DD is coming down with a cold and still hasn't fully lost her rash yet. Still DH has taken them both to the shops while I rest after a rough few nights (actually non kid related)

BabyGiraffes · 28/01/2012 11:03

dd2 is sitting in a wash basket having a tantrum... I'm trying very hard not to laugh Wink

InmaculadaConcepcion · 28/01/2012 13:18

Happy Birthday mous DD2! Have a lovely day Smile

Hope you're okay PA.

Starting a cold here myself. Bah. Hoping it will be mild seeing as I can't do much in the way of medicating now....

DD's teaparty this afternoon! I'll let you know how it goes.
Chocolate cake for toddlers is probably a horrendous idea, but what the hell.....!!

IC good luck with the party

Happy birthday to mous DD2. Great snow pictures

DS has some redness on his chin and under one of his feet (it's purply and looks like a bite/spot), does HF&M start like this? Confused

StoneBaby · 28/01/2012 19:43

RANT ALERT

For DS's birthday, I'll be making a Noddy's car shape carrot cake. Easy I thought! Nope.

Tonight I cut the car shape I printed from a cake website a few days ago and then I printed this pattern agian tonight in order to cut all the parts (will make it easier to cut the fondant icing). Once the 2 shapes were cut I discovered that they're not the same size! Okay, this can be fixed by only using one of the car and photocopying it.

The recipe uses a cake tin 28.5cm x 25 cm, so I'm using my 30x30cm cake tin. Easy. No, as I've realised that the car shape is bigger than my tin Angry Shock Angry

So now I need to see how I can reduce the size of the car...

PenguinArmy · 28/01/2012 20:26

well SB it serves you right for trying to be fancy Grin

BigBadBear · 28/01/2012 20:28

SB I think you are being very ambitious. DD2 is getting a plain old chocolate cake for her birthday (last year I did a gooey chocolate meringue stack - photos on FB)!

And talking of chocolate cake, IC how did the teaparty go?

Happy birthday mous DD2. Hope you have had a lovely day.

DD2 has acquired DD1's aquadraw and loves it. We abandoned babygrows just past her first birthday and I have to say that I love her in big girl PJs, she looks sooo cute! She can also undress herself, so I have kept her in baby vests as the buttons stump her and otherwise she would take her nappy off.

Last night she said "love you" in response to me saying the same thing to her as I tucked her into bed. I melted a little, I'll admit (bit like bc). I had just finished clearing up a pool of vomit I had previously missed (I thought I got them all when I cleaned up two from the living room, one in the hall and three in the kitchen, but no!) before doing the bath, so it was well-timed! I think she has had a bit of a stomach bug as she has done some horrific nappies over the last couple of days. But she is her normal cheery self and is eating really well, so she obviously isn't too badly affected by it.

StoneBaby · 28/01/2012 20:56

I finally got it, the cake is cut in half in order to make a longer cake! Thankfully, the recipe has got good quality pictures as no where it's mentionned to cut the cake. And yes, I am mad ambitious but I like challenges

InmaculadaConcepcion · 28/01/2012 22:03

Blimey, SB, your dedication to your DS' cake is awe-inspiring!

Sorry to hear about the tummy bug, BBB. I hope it's run its course now.

Well, Rosie's birthday party went very well details in case anyone's interested

Awww... hope my dd2's party goes that well Smile IC
SB much impressed by your cake making! dd2 is getting a heart shaped lemon drizzle cake...
We've had an odd day with dd2. She looks quite pale, does have a cold and a 'sticky' cough, and seems to have teeth ache (as in second molars coming through). She's been quite miserable and wanting lots of cuddles. Poor little thing. She's quite articulate generally but today words failed her and all she wanted is to be held by someone, preferably dh. She's in a major 'Papa' phase and burst into tears whenever he was not in sight. Must admit I am beginning to take it personally, especially yesterday when dh was in charge all day and I came home late afternoon to be met by huge excitement from dd1 but scowls from dd2 Sad. She seemed to prefer spending time with dh... I am not that bad to be with in the week, honestly! I am sure she likes me really... Hmm

PenguinArmy · 28/01/2012 23:12

just went in to settle DD who said she was hot. Despite her extremities feeling if anything cold she was in fact correct and had a temperature of 38.7. Now wide again, think I'll send DH in to sleep with her at the next waking (we've had a few already)

InmaculadaConcepcion · 29/01/2012 09:19

Aw, PA it must feel never ending at the moment Sad
More get well vibes heading for your DD.

Sorry to hear your DD2 has been under the weather and rejecting you, BG, that must be pretty hurtful, even though you know it's only a phase and not an actual rejection. Sad
Heart-shaped drizzle cake sounds delish!

Happy birthday for yesterday to Mous's DD. And to IC's if I didn't say it already... her party sounds lots of fun.

SB I am very impressed at the cake. Will you put pictures on FB please?

I bought one last year but have been getting more into baking so will probably make Nigella's chocolate guinness cake (just a round one). Will probably just have his 4 best friends and my mum round.

PA Hope the inlaws visit isn't too dire and stay strong with regards to DD being sick and not able to go out all day with them. The selfish twats.

SB The first thing I noticed of the Hand, Foot and Mouth was that DS was crying and refusing all food. Then I saw the lesions in his mouth and then I noticed a few red pinprick style dots on his hands and feet and bottom.

BBB Very sweet about the 'I love you' - less so about the vomit. Hope she feels better soon.

Scones Hope your DD1 feels better soon. Nightmare about all the washing. I am very impressed that you are using washables - I did buy some and used them for a bit but was too lazy to keep it up.

BG Grin at the washing basket tantrum. How is DD2 doing?

StoneBaby · 29/01/2012 09:58

Thanks for your comments on HF&M, I actually don't think it is it. DS now has 2 spots on his chin and the purpleish marks on his feet (2 on one foot, 1 on the other) but those were there yesterday evening and nothing more has appeared, so fx

I'll post pictures of the cake on FB next weekend.

DS is no where near saying I love you or je t'aime.

bc how are you feeling?

BG Grin at your DD2 tantrums

BBB so did you work last night?

IC sounds like a good party

BabyGiraffes · 29/01/2012 13:56

Mine have never told me they love me Envy Wink. Sounds really sweet actually and I would probably dissolve if one of them said it. dd1 has told me she likes me though Smile.
We are having an unexpected Sunday in the sense that dh came down with a d&v bug overnight (food poisoning was his first thought but he's eaten exactly the same as me/us). He's in a bad way...won't go into too much detail but I had to bleach quite a lot of the bathroom earlier Sad [we need a 'revolted' emoticon]. I now have my fx that we don't all come down with it. But at least if we do we now have a tumble dryer Grin
dd2 is surprising me at the moment with the intensity of her tantrums. I do think it is partly her age and partly that she's not feeling well, but the last few days she has not sat down for one meal without lying on the floor screaming first. She's also missed a few meals. At lunchtime today she completely lost it again after asking for butter on her bread, then screaming because I put butter on her bread Hmm. She went down for a nap without any lunch (but had had a few chunks of bread while shopping, so wasn't starving). Poor little thing. Second time round i am quite laid back about tantrums but I still don't like seeing her upset. Oh, but she was quite good with me this morning when I explained that papa had a poorly tummy and needed to stay in bed.
Argh, bit of an essay...

BabyGiraffes · 29/01/2012 14:02

If any of you are still looking for a present for you LO, I can recommend the Galt Who's hiding puzzle game. The box says age 3-5 but dd2 was more than capable of doing in. I had it from dd1 and tried it the first time with dd2 this morning and she kept giggling and saying 'it's funny!' Smile

BabyGiraffes · 29/01/2012 15:34

dd2 has now slept for over 2 1/2 hours... hmm. wonder if I should wake her.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 29/01/2012 19:58

Maybe she's coming down with something, BG...? Might explain the stroppiness over the last couple of days....
Sorry to hear about your poor DH, that sounds deeply unpleasant. FX the rest of you don't get it.

Chocolate guinness cake, Bc? Yum!

FX your DS isn't getting anything untoward either, SB!

DD had fun at the PILs today - SIL and her DH were also there, so a laid-back but pleasant family gathering with a few more presents for DD.
She was a bit stroppy tonight as well and seemed rather tired, despite not waking until after 08.00 this morning (yay!) and having a lunchtime nap. I hope it doesn't mean she isn't getting anything. She's been a bit snotty and has had a cough in a minor sort of way over the last few days. I hope it's just that that's making her feel a bit more tired than usual....

Still, it's been a fun and fairly busy weekend, so she might just be a bit worn out with all the socialising Smile

I've had another little gem from dd2 this morning. She started telling off her cereal... because it was nearly finished! Grin I had to turn away so she couldn't see me laughing!
