Good luck sorting the skin thing, PA. What a shame for DD.

Eggnog cupcakes, SB?! They sound awesome!

LOVE the happy birthday renditions in the cot, BG Grin

We did a longer wind-down tonight and lights out ten mins early with not a squeak from DD (although a few coughs - another cold taking hold, grr. Might explain why she's gone off to sleep more quickly, though).

I'll post the recipe on FB IC

BabyGiraffes · 08/12/2011 21:38

Aww, PA so sorry to hear you dd is coming out in a rash. I don't think the UK weather is very kind to skin. dd2 also looks wind-chapped and does not like the cold and wind one bit. May be worth taking your dd to the GP to get some advice? I once got a huge prescription only pump dispenser thingy from my GP when dd1 had rashes after a viral rash... Lasted me for ages and saved me quite a bit of experimenting.

Hmmm, biscuits. Will have to start baking this weekend. Hadn't felt 'festive' enough so far...

bethylou · 08/12/2011 23:08

Glad to get the allergy/intolerance stuff right BBB as I'm always nervous of imparting medical stuff that might be wrong (and you are far more likely to know than me!) Hope your parents get on okay and glad to hear DH is pulling out the stops.
Good luck with the scan BC.
BG hope the ear gets better. We got caught out in it too and DS2 was not impressed.
IC hope the lube helps. Xmas Smile
PA sorry to hear about the skin problems - both of mine have had some eczema and DS2 still has epiderm at the mo. I use it about 3 or 4 times a day on him and only bath him every other night with oilatum type stuff in it (doesn't do much for bath mats though as they seem to to rot much quicker - could be lack of proper cleaning Xmas Blush).
Scones lovely to hear form you. I'm sure you're doing better than you think-us Mums are always our own harshest critics aren't we?

DS2 has started a lovely monologue for using the phone which goes exactly the same everytime, as follows:
'Hi..Yeh..Please have it..Bye.'
I have no idea to whom he is talking or where he has got it from. Think DH is under the impression that I either do a lot of shopping by phone or order a lot of takeaways, neither of which is true!!

DS2 has clearly been feeling neglected of late and has now added some impressive wheezing to his 40 a day cough (and cold) in order to ensure that he is not neglected by DH and I!!. The GP has put him on oral steroids and he's had 12 puffs of his blue inhaler today. He's still running round like a complete loon, climbing furniture and having such tantrums (in Boots) that I have ended up with a scratched face. In the bank, the man commented on me having my hands full (no shit) and then asked me if he could do anything else for me today. I replied, 'No thanks, not unless you offer childcare.' Xmas Grin Can you tell it's the day of the week I do with both DS all by myself?! Have still managed to make gluten and dairy-free Christmas tree-shaped biscuits tonight. I've never branched out (excuse the pun) into biscuits before so am quite pleased that MIL (by phone) and I managed to adapt a recipe successfully. The first course with veggie visitors tomorrow might be dull, but they'll no doubt be wowed by a selection of tree biscuits, complete with colourful baubles!! Xmas Hmm

I haven't even had any wine tonight... Night all Xmas Smile

flyingcloud · 09/12/2011 09:57

sitting here munching on chocolate, would you all like some?

Had a busy week, but things are greatly calmed down now and trying to relax a bit. It has been stressful.

We are all fine and in good health though, DD getting through another cold, but she handles them a lot better this year than last, where she would be truly miserable and just cling to me. At least it gives me more reasons to bf DC2, as I will need to try and protect a newborn through the winter months from DD's lurgies. DH is a bit Hmm about breast-feeding, having been very supportive last time. He sees it as very limiting, as DD was a very slow feeder for so long. She was still on 40min feeds up until six weeks when I stopped, having taken 1.5 hours per feed for the first 3/4 weeks.

Starting to get a bit excited about Christmas, it looks like we will be on our own, which I am really looking forward to. Although FIL has said he would like to come and stay and bring his partner, which could pose a few problems. MIL would not be happy and DH is trying to tread his way carefully around this one, without offending anyone.

Oh dear, all about me again. Offers more chocolate to try and make up for it.

Bearcrumble · 09/12/2011 13:45

Scan was fine. It's a girl.

PenguinArmy · 09/12/2011 13:47

DS did another wee in the potty today at nursery Xmas Grin

I'm out tonight for my best friend's birthday, DH is babysitting. I'm excited to go out but also I wonder until what time I'll last as my normal bedtime is around 8.30pm/9pm Xmas Blush

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 09/12/2011 19:05

That is good news BC Smile

bethylou · 09/12/2011 21:50

Congrats BC.

Enjoy the night out SB.
Glad you are all okay FC. Will gladly accept the chocolate. Xmas Grin

PenguinArmy · 09/12/2011 22:46

DD has been coughing a lot at night, do you think it might be the heating drying out the room?

rainbowweaver · 10/12/2011 06:38

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been posting much for a while, though have been lurking and reading everyone's posts. Work's been busy until recently and relationship with DH has been on a very good phase for the past few months so not much frustration to vent here Xmas Grin with maybe the exception of last week when he mentioned that he left DD asleep in the car for 20 mins at the supermarket to quickly pop in as he didn't want to wake her which then caused us to have our first row in a while which has now thankfully resolved.

Oops DD awake....

StoneBaby · 10/12/2011 08:33

Hi rainbow nice to hear from you and that everything is going fine.

Well I'm not suffering too much this morning but feel a bit tired. Thankfully DS slept late (7.45am Xmas Smile )

PenguinArmy · 10/12/2011 19:38

turns out DD has been coughing because she err... has a cough GrinSad.

Karvol vapouriser purchased Xmas Grin

DH is trying to convince me to have doughnuts and custard, now that MN told him he was unreasonable he's all for it.

StoneBaby · 10/12/2011 20:19

PA Doughnuts and custard Xmas Shock how is your DD's rash? I use the Karvol too in DS's room

I've been baking biscuits tonight - gingerbread men and ginger fairing biscuits DS and DH like them as they're chewy Xmas Grin

PenguinArmy · 10/12/2011 20:27

not too bad, well it's not worse. Been applying sudocrem to her face and hands at nappy time (been leaving her with big white cheeks) for the weathered bits and they've started to clear a bit (plus we haven't been outside much today).

She's says "oh dear" everytime she coughs, because that's what we were saying, bless her.

DH's thread last week

I'm supposed to be making biscuits tomorrow but haven't (i) googled a simple recipe and (ii) brought any ingredients Xmas Hmm

StoneBaby · 10/12/2011 20:42

Grin at your DH thread

Which kind of biscuits are looking to make?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 10/12/2011 20:45

Yay Bc - fab!! Smile

Got the Karvol on full here as well. And the humidifier.
DD had a wakeful evening last night - her cough keeping her awake when she was SO desperate to sleep (she'd hardly slept during her "nap" because of coughing) and she got very upset. In the end I moved the humidifier and put it right by the cot with the mist turned up. After that she was much better, but woke once when the ibuprofen wore off (she had a bit of a temperature).
Another shot of that and some more steam and she slept until 07.40. But was pretty crabby this morning because of the disrupted sleep. In the end I put her in her cot to sleep for her nap (very rare) because even in its upright position, she was coughing too much to sleep in her buggy. She was much better after that, pretty chipper for the rest of the day (although wouldn't eat her stuffed pancakes...) but was fine at bedtime and her cough (fx) seems much less tonight, thank goodness.

I was awake for a good few hours after DD woke in the night. Then I almost fell asleep sitting on the floor today, so DH ordered me to bed for a siesta while he entertained DD. They even crept in to my room at one point, but DD got the idea of talking in a whisper, which was very cute!

Peanut butter cookies are super-easy, PA (although allergy concerns may rule those out).

Hello rainbow! (waves)

Sympathy about the cold, flying.

BG I hope you're all feeling better now (tummy bug - and any other afflictions).

BabyGiraffes · 10/12/2011 20:51

PA Well, he's been told alright!! Xmas Grin

StoneBaby · 10/12/2011 20:52

I'm starting to feel better thanks, still a bit exhausted tired but I can now stand without fainting

PenguinArmy · 10/12/2011 20:54

Does humidification work? only we suffer from terrible condensation so need windows open a few hours a day (and therefore more heating than desired).

I was just going to look for a simple shortbread type thing, my vegan book is still in storage. I just want her to have something to eat as all the playgroups will be doing 'xmas' this week without all the artificial crap in regular biscuits.

anyway enough procrastinating, more googling

InmaculadaConcepcion · 10/12/2011 20:54

Love that thread, PA!! Is your DH a MN regular now?!

OP posts:
InmaculadaConcepcion · 10/12/2011 20:56

It certainly seems to help DD, PA. We have the same problem with condensation, so it's a bit devil and the deep blue sea. Lots of wiping the house's exterior walls with fungicide at the moment. And wringing out sponges after wiping the windows.....
