We have a tooth! It's the bottom front left!

Plus H is six months exactly today! I made him porridge with gold top milk for breakfast and I may try him on a bit of mashed up pasta tonight.

We went to mum and baby group yesterday and H had so much fun he went four hours without a nap. We went in the sling and was charming throughout.

Will namecheck when less excited!

kittycatcat · 05/10/2011 08:17

Happy 6 months to H, and yay for the first tooth.

GlaikitFizzog · 05/10/2011 11:40

DH is on holiday this week and he has taken B out today!! I expect them to be away for a good few hours!! What shoudl I do?? Think I'll start with a bath!

DH took all my packed up clothes down from the loft so I need to sort through them now I've lost some weight!

OK got to stop mithering on here and enjoy my "me" time!!!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 05/10/2011 13:07

Fizz Envy

Happy 6 months H! Smile

Kitty your night looks pretty awful Sad T has had 2 naps of about 15-20 minutes this morning, I didn't get to go back to bed. I think I'm going to be cueing up the Disney Pixar for DS1 this afternoon!!

Cyclebump · 05/10/2011 16:36

Wow Kitty, we cross posted. All I can offer is Brew and sympathy. I know it must be really hard. Hopefully it's a phase and will be over soon.

GsyGacheFiend · 05/10/2011 18:38

Hurrah, both children in bed by 6.30 tonight and I'm off to Aqua Zumba in a mo.

Re BLW foods, There are some good family friendly BLW recipes in this book including the porridge fingers recommended by Frak Smile

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/10/2011 19:11

I hope you have better nights tonight Ali and Kitty

Thanks for the recipe Frakk, I'll be giving that a bash.

Hurrah for the tooth Cycle. 6 months, wow, where has the time gone?!

We (I say we, but really it's me) have been implementing operation 'sleeping in cot for a long lunchtime nap' with I. I have to go and pat him back to sleep a couple of times, but then after that he has a long stretch. So whilst it's very frustrating with the wakes up, I know we will get there eventually. Ds2 still has a lunchtime nap, so I'm actually getting a few things done while they are sleeping.

I'm the treasurer for our NCT nearly new sale at the weekend and I was feeling horribly underprepared, but getting a few things done at lunchtime while the boys are in bed has helped. I feel more on top of things and my to do list is shrinking. I now just need to get together the things I am selling ......

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/10/2011 19:12

Oh, and what film did you watch this arvo Ali? Cars? Nemo? Wall-e? The Incredibles? Grin Disney Pixar were My bloody saviour when I was heavily pregnant!

chillikat · 05/10/2011 20:03

Apparently a complaint has been made to our local cafe about breastfeeding. In particular on a Wednesday morning.... which is where and when the breastfeeding support group meets ConfusedConfused
The complaint was anonymous, of course.

chillikat · 05/10/2011 20:09

ILike, I had a look at a box of Ready Brek the other day - it says no added sugar or salt. I suspect the Oats So Simple might have some added sugar, especially the syrup flavour that DH has :o

A friend gave me a part finished box of plum porridge today so will make that for her breakfast tomorrow, along with the pear puree I made today.

GlaikitFizzog · 05/10/2011 20:10

Shock Chilli and Angry that they felt the need to tell you! I'd be screaming boycott and getting the local press involved, with one of those photos where everyone stands outside and looks sad, maybe with your boobs hanging out!!

chillikat · 05/10/2011 20:29

I think they mentioned it to our peer supporter, who then told us, we were all outraged. I'm not sure whether it's because we sit in the window? right next to the sticker saying 'breastfeeding mums welcome' :o Personally I don't think the window is the best place for the group, mainly because it might put off new mums who might be more self conscious. I don't really care where I feed now - I soon realised I'd rather get my boobs out than have an unhappy baby.
I don't think the cafe is going to do anything about the complaint, especially as it was an annonymous letter so who knows who sent it. It's a very baby friendly place right up to hiring birthing pools and running baby massage classes upstairs.

GlaikitFizzogPumpkinLantern · 05/10/2011 21:07

Ah well at least they aren't taking the complaint seriously! I would still be tempted to sit in the window everyday with my boobs out though trying ot work out who complained!! I bet who ever it was buys The Sun or other page three including tabloid!

Sassy20 · 05/10/2011 21:47

Wow, I've been watching the Pride of Britain awards and have been blubbing my way through. What truly amazing people!

MrsWajs · 05/10/2011 22:04

Ooh the porridge fingers sound good, thanks for that Frakk

Chilli How ridiculous that someone has anonymously complained!!

Yay for the tooth Cycle we are waiting for either the right or left front bottom tooth any day now! R is coping remarkably well with it thankfully!

Well first KIT day is tomorrow Shock eeeeeek!! Sad that I won't see R from lunchtime until the following morning :( I've done that before but have always been somewhere that I could leave if I wanted to. Will report back tomorrow night.

R got weighed today and is now 15lbs 8ozs and back up into the 50th centile so I'm happy about that :) She also had her first formed poo today too!!! Think she was a bit Shock by it! Bless!!

Apart from that not much else to report, getting a bit fecked off with DP being on nights now, he's getting stressed that the house is upside down and I'm getting annoyed with him because I think he thinks I just sit around drinking cups of tea!! Roll on Sunday when I'm going out for the day to get fitted for a bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding, DP will have R all to himself all day, let's see how much housework and washing he can get done on his own!!

Starshaped · 05/10/2011 22:11

I'm on my pesky phone and can't scroll back and post at the same time, so apologies for the half hearted attempt at name-checking...

Fingers crossed for better nights Ali and Kitty. We had a decent night last night but it's all so random at the moment. Can't predict what tonight will bring! I feel crap and full of cold though, so can only hope P feels better than me.

Well done with the napping ILike. Did you just go and resettle at the first squeak? I need to do something to try and extend naps. We can get P to nap in her cot but they only last for 30 mins max. Not long enough to do much round the house (or mumsnet!).

Frak Let us know if you do decide to do some night weaning and what approach you use. At some point in the future I expect we'll have to go cold turkey on night feeds...

God, what I'd do for just one night of P sleeping through! I wish I had a crystal ball and could predict when it'll happen!

Had her weighed today. She's 17lbs at 5 months. Sticking nicely to her line on the chart, so am feeling proud of myself (and her!).

Starshaped · 05/10/2011 22:14

X posts MrsW. Yay for weight gain and good luck tomorrow. Give the dragon what for!

chillikat · 05/10/2011 22:37

Seems that lots of us went to get weighed today. M has been between the 9th and 25 centiles perfectly for a few months. Today she was on the 25th line - I think she's enjoying her food :)

BuckminsterFullerene · 05/10/2011 23:13

Tee hee, MrsW said "front bottom"!

Grumpy baby tonight.

I wish he'd sleep too, or at least manage some predictability.

Daren't have him weighed, I'm sure he hasn't gained anything since the last time (over a month ago), hate to think which centile. But, only 2 weeks till half term, I'll feed him up then.

kittycatcat · 06/10/2011 06:59

mrs w hope ur kit day goes well. Brilliant re weight gain. And ha to dh. My dh learnt early on things don't always get done. I left him with s a few weeks ago for 7 hours and it was a clingy day :-).

star and chilli well done on the weight gain.

Well.... After the horrendous night the night before I decided to introduce a 4th bottle of formula ( the idea was he would be formula from October anyway so my boobs are dry and s is settled on it before my return to work), and I fed him a bit of puree at lunch and dinner ( he loved the dinner one- kept grumping cos we weren't fast enough with the spoon), gave him his bottle, he took 4.5 oz and he slept 830-905 (he always wakes after half hour). Gave him another 1.5oz (someone else's little one does this don't they? You called it a the digestive), then he slept til 330. Gave him boob and he slept til 630. He's gone back to bed too but I'm awake cos I had such a good sleep! He hasn't slept like that since he was tiny. I figure I either have a little piggy or my boobs are now next to useless do to the bottles?!

Cyclebump · 06/10/2011 07:56

Hurray, more shiny things for H have arrived. He's got foam matting in jigsaw pieces and a bath seat. I finally caved on the bath seat because H keeps rolling over on his bath support and yesterday he hit his head on the side of the bath Sad I reached for him but he was slippery and quick.

Sounds like you've got the massive hunger increase we have Kitty. H is wolfing food and milk at the moment. He ate an obscene amount of porridge this morning. It's tricky because if I left it to him he'd eat and eat and eat, I don't really know how much he should be having.

kittycatcat · 06/10/2011 08:05

Should I also be giving s breakfast now?

Cyclebump · 06/10/2011 09:23

Wish I could advise Kitty, but when it comes to weaning, I'm winging it. Al, I can say is what we do. We started with an evening meal because that's when DP and I eat together and H seemed most receptive. I started adding in breakfast because his current routine seems to be a single wake up between 4.30-5.30am when he gets a milk feed. We then have breakfast at about 7 as he sees me eating mine and grabs for it! He also gets very hungry in the morning.

Now that he's past the six month mark I've been giving him yoghurt, fruit and baby rice and now porridge made up with whole milk and with fruit in it.

chillikat · 06/10/2011 12:02

I'm winging it too. M loves breakfast, we have similar to cycle. I stopped today when she hit her head swinging her water cup around and got upset.
I try to give her 3 meals a day, one of which is finger food, but it does depend on how tired she is.

GsyGacheFiend · 06/10/2011 20:12

kitty I started P on babyrice a couple of weeks before she was 6 months and she was on 3 meals a day within 2 weeks. Now I normally offer a finger food first at mealtimes as if P is interested she'll happily start gumming away. I then offer her some spoonfed gunk inbetween handfuls. If she's not interested in the finger food I don't bother with any spoon feeding. Today she had breakfast and tea but didn't fancy any lunch. Her favourite finger food today was Baby Asparagus spears and green beans, should be an interesting nappy tomorrow!

mrsW Hope your KIT day went Ok Smile
