Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cyclebump · 20/09/2011 11:03

A hideous night last night, I'm desperately hoping it's the tail end if the cold as the other night was so much better.

H screamed for ages before his nap this morning but at least he slept a bit. He's hussy rolling across the room right now. It's very cute but I do kind of miss the days when I could leave the room without fear that he'd gone anywhere!

I'll join those grabbing a Brew and taking deep calming breaths...

GsyGacheFiend · 20/09/2011 11:08

No harm in offering more kitty, P has 2 7oz bottles a day and has done for sometime, she'll often leave an ounce or 2 of her evening bottle and then have a breasttfeed 20/30mins later to get to sleep. We call it her booby digestif Grin

It's our 8th wedding anniversary today, DH got me a brass plated mini coin pendant, I got him a card Blush I thought we had agreed not to do gifts. I have said i'll pay for the meal next week at a restaurant of his choice and it's his birthday on 11/11 so will have to redeem myself then. He's not into sport but is a bit of a sci-fi & film geek. Any ideas for presents are most welcome.

kittycatcat · 20/09/2011 11:25

Happy Anniversary gsy Re birthday gave they digitally remastered any of his fave films? Cinema tokens? A book on must see films?

I might try that mrsw thanks

And will try more formula.

S has lost 4 1bs in a fortnight because of his bug Sad

GsyGacheFiend · 20/09/2011 12:06

Kitty if S has lost weight then personally I would hold off on offering the water instead of milk during the night.

kittycatcat · 20/09/2011 12:10

Good point gsy, thanks

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 20/09/2011 12:20

kitty - you poor thing, and poor little S :( No wonder he is waking at all hours, he is trying to catch up on what he's lost.
I agree with GGF, now is not the time to try and space feeds, or offer water or any of that. I would be shovelling as much milk in as I could and if that means eating ready meals and takeaway for a week because you are feeding all the time or napping when he does nap during the day so that you can cope with the nights then so be it.

Better night here. DS1 stayed in his bed until gone 6am, and T woke at 3, co-slept and fed until 4.45 until he went back in his cot until 9.30am.

We're having some problems with DS1, the preschool want to get the SENCO to come and observe him so I'm really worried about that which isn't helping me function. :(

GsyGacheFiend · 20/09/2011 12:27

It sounds like S is on a major catch-up after his bug kitty. Hopefully it'll settle down. For now just keep giving him what he wants when he wants it. Can your DP take over and just give formula feeds for 1 whole night so you can get some decent rest (i.e. 10pm -6am). Get some ready made cartons so they'll be no faffing around. Your supply won't dry up in one night and when you do feed him in the morning you'll both feel better. You for the sleep and S for the massive milkfest awaiting him Grin

p.s My DH did this for me with DS and yes he was knackered at work the next day but he survived. Wink

GsyGacheFiend · 20/09/2011 12:49

ali x-posts

Hope it goes ok with the SENCO, on the positive side at least the preschool are being pro-active, if there is something at least it'll be better for your DS if you find out sooner rather than later.

caramellokoalalover · 20/09/2011 14:25

Ali that sounds really stressful about the SENCO and preschool Sad. Hope they take into consideration the impact a new baby has on a child's behaviour.

I'm a bit late on this but in case it helps people thinking about formula...S is on Hipp Organic and hasn't had any problems with it at all. The only negative is that they only do the readymade cartons in a small size (7oz) so if you decide to go down the route of only using readymade cartons it's a bit more convenient and cheaper to use a formula which do larger quantity cartons. I wish I had thought of this before I started S on Hipp Organic but now that she's happy on it I'm loathe to change her formula just for my convenience and to say a few pence a week.

Cyclebump · 20/09/2011 14:28

Try not to worry too much Ali, like Gsy said, at least they're being proactive and it could just be a precaution. plus, if there is something he needs support with they'll catch it.

DP has severe dyslexia and without the support of an amazing special needs teacher he'd have never learned to read. As it is, he now runs his own business and reads completely fluently. His punctuation is completely hit and miss, but that's why he lives with a subeditor Smile

architien · 20/09/2011 15:43

Afternoon all. I was a silly nervous wreak leaving DH in charge of the babies last night for only an hour and a half. F was asleep in bed R had just been fed and changed and I was less than a mile away. Once I got into the pool though I had a ball and I now think Aqua Zumba followed by a swim is THE way to spend 8:30 to 10pm on a Monday night.
I'm sorry to hear of illness :(
Congratulations cycle and GGF :)
Does anyone else's baby stick their tongue out in a pointy fashion? Does this mean anything? I can't seem to find anything online about it....
Also is anyone else getting a four month check from a HV? I don't remember this with F at all.

kittycatcat · 20/09/2011 15:47

Hugs Ali

My nearly 3yo nephew won't let his mummy hold my DS! She's pg and due next month!

architien · 20/09/2011 15:49

X-post (well starting a post and not getting a chance to finish it until uch later on)

Ali that does sound stressful. I hope everything goes well. I think the more information you can get the better and if they need support you will have the ability and tools to fight for it. Hope it goes well. If they don't see anything then you will be assured. Do recognise it as stressful though :(

GlaikitFizzog · 20/09/2011 16:08

Arrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I have no broadband! Haven't had it since Friday! I,ve had to go cold turkey on MN. Its not easy! I've worked out that my phone works better in the dining room, I say better, I mean just works and no more. I've not caught up yet. Hopefully tomorrow when the nice man from openreach comes and fixes it. Would it be wrong to snog him if he does? Anyway I've used my time productively by batch cooking and baking! Tonight we are having a treat of homemade burgers and potato wedges!

Cross you fingers for me tomorrow ladies! :o

kittycatcat · 20/09/2011 16:13

Fingers crossed fizz please send me homemade burgers and wedges immediately.

chillikat · 20/09/2011 16:32

(apologies in advance for lowering the tone)
Poor M has had a nasty shock today with her first solid poo - not hard, but with definite form. She seemed to squeal in pain for the first one and this was followed later by (lots) more on the changing mat. Don't think she was in pain then but it was a new sensation which I don't think she liked. I had thought she'd still be getting enough liquid from breast milk? Should I try to get her to drink more water? I've been offering her water to go with purees but really just to get her used to the sippy cup and I don't think she's drunk much.

Kitty I hope S is back up to weight soon.

Fizz good luck with getting broadband fixed - I'd feel like I'd lost a limb!

kittycatcat · 20/09/2011 17:08

Awh poor m. I'll join you. S' farts STINK. Have done since he got his bug. I think this is our third poo free day. Eek.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/09/2011 17:12

I thought I hadn't seen you about Fizz!

Chilli, sounds like more fluid is needed. If you continue offeringthe zippy cup she'll get used to it. Maybe also offer less solids? It actually takes a lot of fruit/veg to make a small amount of puree. If she's filling up on solids she'll be taking less milk/fluids.

{{Ali}} it must be a really stressful time for you. Do you understand / agree with why the pre school got senco involved, or was it a shock?

Sounds like you deserve a hug too Kitty. Feed, feed, feed, and then feed some more. Tedious I know, but it will work.

Aqua Zumba sounds fab Archie, I need to get my fat arse in gear and shift some weight. Saying that while ds was at pre school, me and two other pre school mums went on a longish walk this morning around the NT parklands in the village. It's a start ......

chillikat · 20/09/2011 20:11

Well todays intake has been less I Like neither the pea puree or brocolli and apple puree seemed to go down well. She hasn't seemed to be cutting down on BF as yet... slowly does it.

DairyBeetle · 20/09/2011 21:00

Pea puree! They'd charge you ££'s for that in posh restaurants! Grin

Ali I know how worrying it can be, especially if an appointment with a SENCO is suddenly sprung on you, but if your DS is having any difficulties, however slight, get all the help you can now, ask all the questions you have and push for any answers you want. I struggled with reading and writing at school but thought it was normal for the words to wiggle on the page so wasn't diagnosed (or get any help for) as Dyslexic until I was 21 and really wish I hadn't struggled for so long.

Kitty I hope S gets his weight back up quickly. On the positive side you know exactly what caused him to loose the weight so you don't have to fret over the whys and can just keep feeding!

I've not posted much the last couple of days, I've been so tired stringing sentences together has been beyond me! Yesterday poor DH got home (after working late) to me having a meltdown because the house was a mess/how would I cope with everything once I'm back at work/guilt about going back to work/worrying about leaving S in the nursery plus another 100 things that go through my head each day. On the plus side DH had brought home Wine

Had my first hydrotherapy session today, all I did was walk backwards and forwards across a pool for 20 mins and I am exhausted, full on jelly legs on the way home. Talk about unfit Blush

Sorry to have not namechecked everyone, I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open so am off to bed! Night all

BuckminsterFullerene · 20/09/2011 21:15

Evening all.

Sorry to hear about the traumas.

I had an awful sleep-deprived week last week. But work have been great.

F's got a really horrible cough. He's happy when he's not coughing, but it's upsetting for everyone when he starts hacking and choking and gagging. He hasn't got a high temp or anything. Anyone got any suggestions?

I might see if DH can get him a docs appointment tomorrow.

MrsWajs · 20/09/2011 23:54

Sorry Kitty just checking back now and agree with Ali & GGF definitely scrap the water idea!! Poor little S and you!! Hope he regains his weight soon. :)

Sorry to sound ignorant Ali but what is SENCO? I'm getting the jist from what others have posted but have never heard of it before?

Arch Aquazumba sounds fab! Might see if it's available in my area :)

Fizz I am actually wetting myself at the image of you snogging Mr. Openreach!! Totally not inappropriate! No internet is as bad as having perfectly good internet but a keyboard that refuses to work!! Happens to me regularly on this stupid bloody thing!!

Chilli Agree with ILTMI I currently have a freezer FULL of broccoli puree as I overestimated portion sizes slightly and incidentally R is not such a fan! For those of you who are friends with me on FB you can check out my page for confirmation, for those who aren't I'll upload the picture to our group page tomorrow!! It was hilarious to say the least. Happy little wide eyes (and mouth) "here comes the food, here comes the food" spoon goes in and immediate change to "what the hell is THAT?????" expression!! The picture really doesn't do her reaction justice!!

ILTMI I have been doing weight watchers for the last 9 weeks and have lost 12lbs so far, don't know if anything like that is your cup of tea but definitely worth a bash if it is. :)

Hydrotherapy also sounds good Dairy Hope you get caught up on sleep soon.

Buck Sorry to hear about Fs cough, is it anything to do with reflux or is it a different kind of cough to that? R does a weird noise that makes her sound like she has a 40 a day smoking habit! Not sure why but it's a bit embarrassing when we're at baby massage or similar and all the other babies are making coo-ing and giggling noises and she's going "aaaaarrrrrrrrrrr".
She is also the only baby at massage who spends 99% of her time trying to roll off the mat, chew her fists off and would rather be looking at the HV than me, I think she has a short attention span!!

MrsWajs · 20/09/2011 23:54

Ummm why the hell am I still up!!!!!

BuckminsterFullerene · 21/09/2011 00:22

SENCO is Special Educational Needs Coordinator. In my experience, they are fab.

It's a new coldy mucusy snot-laden cough, started Sunday. I've moved bedroomfurniture into the spare room to put the travel cot up to have him in with us tonight. He's refusing to sleep now though.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 21/09/2011 08:18

Buck - have you tried nasal saline drips?
