I had an October wedding and quite a few people wore black. Two friends wore black trouser suits with sexy sleevelss tops underneath. It was a late afternoon through to evening wedding though. I think anything goes these days. So long as you don't wear a stiff shirt under the suit but tart it up tehn it should be fine.

mummyhill · 01/11/2005 19:43

Just been to the family planning clinic and been given a nice suppriseI actually weigh 4lb under my prepregnancy weight yipee I feel happier. DH has just gone out to a meeting and both children are sleeping so why am i on here and not trying to catch some sleep myself? On that note going to get myself a drink and sit with feet up watching telly.

YOKEFLEET · 01/11/2005 20:19

Hello to all you September mums! Hope all your babies are doing well. I started on the Sept Ante-natel thread with you back in January with a due date of 27/9 but when I had my dating scan they gave me an EDD of 02/10 so I moved over to the Oct thread. Not too far out as I went into labour on the 2nd but actually delivered my darling little boy Thomas James on the 3/10/05. I would like to thank you all for your advice and support in those early days, seems so long ago now but I was very worried about every sympton or lack of it at the time!

pooka · 01/11/2005 20:24

I sense that my appetite is starting to increase, as is my intake of bad things, so think weight will pretty much stick. 8 pounds heavier than pre-preg weight. 1stone 8 pounds heavier than pre-dd weight. This happened last time - dramatic weight loss followed by none at all until I gave up b/feeding, which was only 2 months before I conceived! Must be good must be good must be good....
Tom had his belated 6 week check today. Tongue tie practically non-existent according to doctor which is a relief. But he said to me "do you think he has a small chin"? I laughed and said, "well, it's kind of baby sized, isn't it?" He's written on notes "small chin - but no problems reported". WTF - there's nothing wrong with his chin. though of course I shall now be minutely examining the chins of all babies I come across and obsessing about Tom's! What's all that about?????? I can almost imagine the doctor writing "brown eyes- yuk!" or "bald"!

Anyway - dd in bed nice and early as dh bunked off - didn't go back to work after coming home to be around during her nap while we were at the clinic. It's his company though, so no worries. DD has been appalling the last two days - think it's because she gets unsettled after a weekend of dh and full-on attention mixed in with terrible twos and her being bored - very keen on social situations and I've beena bit lax when it comes to arranging visits with friends. My mother ended up coming round on a mercy mission as she happened to ring just as dd was having a full on crying meltdown. She's been very sensitive and on-the-edge. Of course, as soon as my mother arrived she was a little ray of sunshine. Felt rather like a kick in the teeth but have to remind myself that she's probably craving more attention and a change of face rather than having gone off me.

Tom bright eyed and bushy tailed - hopefully will nod off soon so I can have a bath and early bed. Going to ace soft play place tomorrow with friends.

Have a good evening one and all

Hi Yorkefleet! Glad all well with you. I had Tom Alexander. Sarahal had Thomas Alexander. What a popular name, grrrrrrrr!

boompi · 01/11/2005 21:57

Still lurking but never get time to post!
LadyL - hope things are sorted with dh.
STM - congrats!!!
Worried about RZ
With you all on weight loss - lost a lot at first - now staying at a stone over prepreg wt.
Oh and at my 6 wk check gp asked if I wanted an internal and I said no.

DD is now 8 weeks old very cute. Biggest difficulty is settling her in the evenings. She has a 3 hour routine (mostly naturally) throughout the day and then when she falls asleep at 7pm she only sleeps for 45min and then wakes up. It seems impossible to settle her thereafter and sometimes she is awake till 11pm or midnight. She then wakes at 4am (occasionally at 2am too) and 7am. I cluster feed her in the evenings up till 7pm and have a bath routine etc and give her a bottle at 11pm(usually just bf). How are others coping in the evenings? What is your typical evening? Am I expecting too much for her to go down at 7pm? Any tips?

Cabe · 01/11/2005 23:56

Well Boompi - I've only just got Conrad into bed... he (sort of) cluster feeds all evening, I did have intentions of bathing and feeding him at 7pm tonight after talking to one of the mums at bumps and babies... her little girl had just the same evening pattern as ds and she managed to settle her for 8pm when she realized it wasn't real feeding, more suckling for comfort... Conrad was having none of it he'd wake after 10 mins of sleep and demand the boob again.

I'll try again tomorrow as his daytimes are becoming much more predictable and he'll feed properly with good 2 and 3 hour gaps between.

I've got the 6 week check tomorrow. This GP is pretty useless though, don't like the idea of an internal AT ALL - will refuse if it's suggested.

Pooka... exactly WTF! Small Chin? Conrad's got a teeny chin too, I think it's totally charming and utterly babylike. What's a 'small chin' supposed to indicate anyway? I'll have a laugh if my GP mentions this about Conrad Can't believe he put it in Tom's notes.

Beatie - I was only teasing about Cozzy, I'm sure you looked fine - I know how it feels though, I'm totally paranoid about people seeing my jelly wobble belly and the trouser overhang around my sides, my upper arms have gone wobbly too

Mummyhill - great news about your weight - I've still not weighed myself, wonder if the GP will do that tomorrow? Hope your mood continues on the up x

Oh my healthy eating has completely gone to pot over last two days... after fainting scare yesterday convinced myself that sharing dd's halloween haul was totally acceptable - and have continued all through today too Can't believe we've not finished it all yet!

Hope everyone has a nice sleep tonight - sorry if I've missed anyone out - Oh REDHELEN yes I'm sure the black would be fine with something flimsy and pretty under the jacket - or if you want to splash out a little Monsoon has lovely on the hips style mid-calf A-line skirts which you could team up with a jacket and said flimsy stylee top - just a thought x

Night night all xxx

pooka · 02/11/2005 07:38

Cabe - we had a dearth of trick or treaters so I've been steadily grazing too. Not good at all. (but so niiiice)
Boompi - I've found that Tom actually settles better and sleeps for longer in the evening when I'm sharing dd's bath, so have fed him 6 -7 (during supper) and then dh has bathed him and settled him downstairs while I'm upstairs putting Lucy to bed. If I'm on Tom shift then I'll still feed during supper and then again after his bath for what seems like ages. Don't know whether he's a bit overfed as a result? Not sure really. Last night is a case in point - he went to sleep (on me) at about 8.30 and then woke at 12.30, 4am and then 6am whereas when dh is on duty he usually sleeps 8.30 till 2 or even 3am. The hour change hasn't helped really. Hohum - I'm sure we'll work something out eventually.

Hi all! Have been reading all your posts but never really getting round to posting!

Today we are having to move into my parents for the rest of the week whilst the builders knock great big holes in our house! The extension is almost finished and they have just to connect it to the house - kind of important really! I am amazed at how smoothly it has all gone as I was really dreading having a new born and builders at the same time!

DS1 at nursery today - feel guilty saying so but it is such a relief to just have Tom for the day. DS1 has started really smacking people which is becoming quite a problem. He even told me he had had to go to time out at nursery for pushing but I don't think he really gets the concept of being naughty. I actually dread taking him out sometimes and have to plan around when he might get grouchy and tired as he is such a horror then!

Yokefleet - i remember you being around on the original stats thread as you were the only other Yorkshire mum around. I'm in between Huddersfield and Wakefield - where are you? Glad to hear that your Tom is doing well. As Pooka says, great name!

Well wish me luck for the week with Mum and Dad! Let's hope DS1 sleeps a bit better that lately or my poor parents will be wondering what has hit them.

One last thing - double buggy arrived yesterday. Not put it up yet so lets hope its better than the last tank. Went for a Maclcaren traveller in the end.

Have a good week all!

Redhelen · 02/11/2005 08:47

Morning

Thanks for the advise about an outfit for my brothers wedding - going proper shopping next Tuesday - will have a good look then.

Rachel slept for 7 hours solid night before last and 5 hours last night - and yesterday was the first day without a windy 2 hour cry in the evening! So last feed between 9-11pm and then she wakes up at 4am - then at 7am. Hope it lasts!!??

Shes a good girl and smiles alot now - which makes it worth while!

Rachels having an ultrasound to check her hip out tommorrow - but seems fine to us?!

Have a good day all xxx

PiccadillyCircus · 02/11/2005 09:56

Morning everyone

Dull and grey here again today but may well cheer up later.

DH is on his way to (or possibly at) Glasgow. Just for the night but it will be strange to be in the house on my own with both of them tonight. I am hoping that tonight is not the night that there is lots of waking up [fingers crossed emoticon].

Alice slept very nicely last night; I fed her about 10 o clock when we went to bed; she woke up at about 4 and then I fed her again about 7 (DH left about 6 which woke up DS so I was awakr anyway). I am still in awe of her night time sleeping.

We don't really have a bedtime routine with Alice; DS goes to bed about 7; if DH is home then he either puts him to bed or looks after Alice; if not then I put him to bed often with Alice attached to my chest. She sometimes gets a bit of tummy ache in the evening when DH's finger is her favourite thing to suck. She feeds a bit, sleeps a bit and comes up to bed with us. At the moment I am happy with how the evenings go although I suppose we will want evenings to ourselves some time.

Cabe, I have my 6 week check today as well. And I think that Alice and Conran were born on the same day as well. I don't see why I would need an internal as I only had a little tear and didn't have to have stiches. As I am thinking about using the coil, and I need a smear, I can't really avoid internals for ever .

DH just phoned and is safely in Glasgow.

IWannaSeeTheSunshineAfterTheRa · 02/11/2005 09:56

we did well last night, jess went down at 7pm was asleep by 7.30pm and i was going to feed her at 10.45 but i fell asleep so fed her when she woke at 11.25 she then slept from 12am to 5am then had 2oz and went back to sleep til 7am - bliss!! definatley recommend trying Gina ford even if it doesnt work for you there is a chance it could work if you havent already got a routine in place. Good luck everyone x

YOKEFLEET · 02/11/2005 10:07

Pooka/Sarahhal - we have said that we liked Alexander and may use that next time round!! spooky - Thomas and James were both names of my grandad.
Sarahhal - I did live in Alverthorpe in Wakefield but we moved to Swansea in august when I was 34 weeks pregnant - must have been mad! Although it is great down here.

Cabe · 02/11/2005 11:08

PC good luck with your 6week check, I'm just off for mine - I only had little tear which didn't need stitches too. My GP is a bloke (blokey bloke bloke type too

singleteenagemum · 02/11/2005 12:02

Blimey girls, i go away for a few days and end up spending the next few days catching up on things.

Beatie - Noah feeds at about 8 and then 10, but i was reading somewhere about something called a 'dreamfeed' sounds a bit poncy but has worked really well. I feed him at 10:30 when he's asleep, just pick him up, express of bit of milk on to his lips and bobs your uncle he opens his mouth and latches on whilst staying asleep. Means i now dont get a 2:30 feed but he's asleep till 4:30.

Think i read to many posts at once and it's all gone in one ear and out the other. Did i see a mention of periods? Think i'm having one. How stupid does that sound? well my bleeding died off end of last week and i was just down to pantyliners not towels but now am back on towels and getting lots of 'fresh' blood. Keep getting loads of pains aswell, especially when i'm feeding still....common? (sorry if TMI)

Any news of RZ yet? it's been almost a month since her last post [worried emotion]

Now a word about sex....anyone else really horny? Best form of contraception? cant make my mind up, bit weary of the pill after conceiving Noah whilst on pill, using condom and the sperm doner only having a 10% chance of having kids...seems like fate i know but anyone any ideas?

love to you all

TM x x

p.s how do i change my name?

PiccadillyCircus · 02/11/2005 12:12

(S)TM, to change your name go onto the talk page and in the first paragraph there's a link to change your name.

Not sure what I'm going to do about contraception - used mini-pill after DS but it lowered my (already low) sex drive to zero so don't want to use it again. Will discuss things with the GP at my check this afternoon.

I was wondering where you were as I was changing the sheets on the bed, so I'm gald you appeared .

bubbles2904 · 02/11/2005 13:29

hi everyone,
POOKA, you almost made me pmsl, the 2small chin, yuk-brown eyes and bald comments LOL. doctors just try to make you worry all the time, i'm sure tom's chin is fine and as perfectly normal as a baby's chin should be!
CABE, yes it was me who lost weight this week, but no, i'm not bf. love the glampire idea.
JESSYSMUMMY, i never got any trick or treaters call at my house either, and had lots of goodies to give out, but it's because I AM A WITCH!
YORKEFLEET, welcome back and congratulations xxx
BEATIE, you're much braver than me, i wouldn't wear a cossie at the minute , glad it fit you though.
MUMMYHILL, well done for being 4lb lighter than pre-pg weight.
STM, love the sperm donor comment, thats what dd1s dad was, unfortunaetly, i stayed with him for 3 years, really wish i hadn't asked his name, and was a 1 night stand. oh well, i can dream.
REDHELEN, how did you get on at fat fighters?
Don't think i've missed anyone out. it took me ages to catch up, as haven't logged on since monday night. Going to trafford centre tonight with my sister, can't wait! GOD I'M SAD.
oh yes, and my water has been cut off for the day and desperately need the loo! sorry if tmi

Redhelen · 02/11/2005 13:33

Hello stm - Sex - OH NO!! I need to get some contraception but I don't like any of it.

Right I'm off out to get some air!

Redhelen · 02/11/2005 13:38

Bubbles - no weight lost / none gained! so I suppose with all the goddies I ate last week not to bad!!! Really not motivated - I really must get losing I want to spend birthday/christmas money on new clothes - as I hate them all!!

Redhelen · 02/11/2005 13:39

ps no Idea what goddies are!!?? (my spelling!!!!)

bubbles2904 · 02/11/2005 13:45

LOL helen, i've been putting a fiver in a tub for every pound i louse, so that i will have some money to buy myself something nice to wear at christmas. also, have a night in blackpool with dp for our anniversary, and my works do on the 23rd december so need something that i can wear for all 3 occasions.

teenmumkent · 02/11/2005 15:48

Hi it's STM...TM was already taken!!couldn't think of a name.

Bubbles seems like a good idea..how much have you saved so far? I cant stop eating chocolate...hoping it's ok as b/fing, well thats the excuse i'm using anyway.

PC i thought the pill was meant to help your sex drive because of all the hormones it contains.

moan alert

Went shopping to matalan this afternoon Noah needed changing and then feeding. Had to change him in the changing rooms on a really dirty floor as no facilities provided. was then asked to leave the shop when i started b/fing in the shoe aisle (as they had seats) told them where to stick it, finished feeding and then through a reeally big tantrum at the manager. he apologised and sacked the member of staff, as it wasn't shop policy and the young lady concerned was apalled and offended by it so asked me herslef without seeking advice...how apalling is that? was funny whgen she got the sack though...oops i sound really mean!!

jessyandabbysmummy · 02/11/2005 15:59

Pooka - small chin????????? Can't believe he wrote that in the notes. Is he on something or just taking the p!$$?
Pretty sure my GP will give me an internal as he did last ime (much to my shock!). After a quick grope, he told me that I had to pay more attention to my pelvic floor exercises. Felt like I'd failed an exam or something!
(S)TM - sounds like you've still got ordinary postnatal bleeding - it can come and go a bit. Think it's unusual to get you periods back until you've stopped bf (though you can still get pregnant, so be warned).
Don't know what I want to do re birth control. Have never liked the idea of the pill and never used anything other than condoms but DH detests them (him and the rest of the male population).
Well done to all of you losing pg weight (and more - Mummyhill). Haven't dared weigh myself but I know that I can't get anywhere near all of my pre pg clothes. Very depressing - am going to be a fat frump at Christmas. HAve started going for half hour brisk walk (pushing pram)daily in vain effort to get in shape. Got absolutely soaked in the liverpool liquid sunshine this pm. I love going to the gym but DH made me give up membership in return for him cancelling sky in a purse-tightening exercise while I'm on maternity leave...pooh!
Nice to hear from you, Yorkefleet and CONGRATULATIONS!
Bubbles - I'm sure that if you are a witch, you're a good one. Me, on the other hand, I'm as wicked as they come!!!
