I think DS is going to sleep - at least he is in his cot . He and I aren't dressed (although Alice is).

Right, need to tidy up for an onslaught of toddlers and their mums (and a dad) who are coming round this afternoon in the hope that Alice will infect them with chicken pox. Of course, house will be a tip by the end, but want to create the impression of organised mummy .

Must remember to get dressed...

Cabe · 28/10/2005 13:20

Hello All

I've only just got up Conrad and I have been snoozing and feeding all morning - I seriously needed to catch up on sleep as late nights reading and cleaning whilst ds sleeps soundly were catching up on me - I'm now eating breakfast of homemade cake and a pot of tea

Pooka - I agree wholeheartedly that the immunisations are a necessary evil - It's just that I've been known to faint having/watching injections... not squeemish in an emergency or anything, it's just when others take over anything vaguely medical.

Well I'd better go and give my offerings to the washing machine god

PC - hope your chicken pox party goes ok!

Oh and Jm - Mothers!!! Mine's 74 and instead of making off all free at a time when my DS or I could do with some support, she goes down with some mysterious un-diagnoseable illness

bubbles2904 · 28/10/2005 15:28

hi all, jessysmummy, you're not alone. DD1 had a movie night last night, when she's on school hols she gets 2 nights where she can watch a movie in bed as a treat and just go to sleep whenever she falls. anyway, to cut a long story short, i had just settled Mia after a hour of screaming when i heard dd1 playing school very loudly and woke Mia up. I was soooooo .
Also, on the mother subject, my mum is exactly the same, although she is getting better. When my sister had my nephew, my mum bought everything, pram, cot, clothes, even nappies wipes and formula. she did the same when my sister had my niece, when i had dd1 she bought NOTHING!!! She invited herself to the birth, and apparently i mentioned chocolate gateau in my drugged up state so she fetched me a sara lee dc gateau, not even a pair of scratch mitts, and spent the entire visit with dn&n. She even told all my work mates(we work together) exactly what i was like in labour, she said that all she saw was me on the bed naked with my HUGE ARSE in the air , needless to say, when she invited herself in the room for Mia's birth i told her where to go!!!!!
Sorry rant over
POOKA, i don't believe in religion either (i'm gonna get slated now) and dd1 wasn't christened and dd2 will not be either. As for vegas, if you ever go back (which i'm sure you will), try and get to red rock canyon, hoover dam and valley of fire, beautiful places. i never got to the grand canyon and am hoping to see it when we return, soon hopefully. oh yes, and don't waste your money on the new york new york rollercoaster, it's shite!!!!!!!
Hope all babies are well, and rz, if you're lurking, please let us all know you're well xxx

jessysmummy · 28/10/2005 16:29

Bubbles - don't think you should be slated, just because you don't have any religious beliefs. Each to their own, I say.
Cabe - good for you for having a lazy day! Hope you are nicely refreshed now. Am looking forward to DH taking over for some period of time at the weekend but I'm sure I'll find something to do rather than go for a lie down!
Glad but that I'm not the only one with a challenging mum! She's great usually, in fact sometimes does a bit too much for me which is why I get so annoyed that my sister takes advantage.
PC - hope you had a lovely Chicken pox party and Alice is on the mend.
So far today I've been good and not shouted at DD1, even though she threw her dinner all over the place in a cafe and later woke up DD2 by "tickling" her feet. Think it helped that we've been out and about with other human contact!

singleteenagemum · 28/10/2005 16:59

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting sooner, been at DF's and his computer is a wee bit ancient!

I'm getting Noah dedicated at my church on 4th December...just before i move in with DF.

We do have a vague idea of things JM...May 2007 (as i want Noah to walk down the aisle, either with me or with my soon to be step-daughter) I want to wear white, (if i'm pure enough )
other stuff not really discussed...but he does want to go to vegas on our honeymoon...not too sure...think we might go on a 2week 'tour' of the states - New York, San Fransisco, Miami, Houston, Boston..all that sort of stuff n i'll let him have a few days in vegas.
Bubbles - yours sounds great though!

Glad everyone's doing ok...on the subject of immunisations, this ones bound to come up, MMR? singular or together? i know its a while away but still best to be informed.

milward · 28/10/2005 18:07

jessysmummy - thanks for asking. Had a better night but still tired today! Need a few weeks at a health spa & fulltime staff to fully recover. Having a tough time with my 2yr old who is driving me mad. Not her fault - just a fact of being 2 but ahhhhh. My 4yr threw up in a pan in her room. 2yr old puts her hands in & puts fingers on mouth - yuck. So she's sure to be sick as well.
best wishes to all - read all posts but only have few mins for one hand typing

Redhelen · 28/10/2005 18:27

Hello!

DH Now in Estonoia for 3 day stag weekend - so hope not to stressful - have a good weekend all. Hard to type whilst holding big baby!!!

kelli22 · 28/10/2005 21:14

Just wanted to say hi, congratulations to STM!!!!

Milward - get some sleep if you can, sounds like you really need some help.

HI everyone, i havent got time to post to you all but i hope you're all doing ok and your babies are bringing you bucket loads of happiness, i know mine definatly is im happier than ever!

She's settled goes to bed at 7-8pm which means me and dp are getting some time together when dd1 is in bed too. im tired but aren't we all a month (at least) of sleeplessness is getting to us all now im sure but i smile whenever i look at my gorgeous dd's.

Has anyone thought about christmas yet? i saw some of those kits to do clay handprints today and i thought it would make a good stocking filler for the girls, other than that im running out of ideas they seem to have everything already and my house isn't big enough to fit a lot in. Anyone got any ideas for babies and older children (dd1 is 6)

Heres to getting some sleep tonight

bubbles2904 · 28/10/2005 21:20

Hi kelli, my dd1 is also 6 and dd2 is 8 weeks on sunday where does the time go? i've thought of nothing BUT xmas, i love everything about it, only 58 sleeps left, YIPPEE
anyway, dd1 is getting a new dvd player because hers doesn't play copies, and i've bought her a bratz scooter from tesco, it's £19 but £30 in argos, so a real bargain, dd2 is getting a jumperoo, you can look at it on the mothercare website(sorry, can't do links), under fisher price toys, and a few bits and bobs too. what's the rest of the babies getting?

Cabe · 29/10/2005 01:20

Hellooo

Another night time post... Yes JM was so much better after the snoozy morning

Tonight I have my dd's mates round - all five of them sleeping in her room - they've been as good as gold though, not too noisy, very polite, they've brought all their mugs and plates and things down - They're not being stereotypical teenagers at all... Kelli, the delight doesn't wear off, even now Noop's almost taller than me it still gives me that warm glow to look at her and see how she's growing into such a lovely young woman [wish i could do a heart emoticon!]

Milward, the vomit experience must have been so frustrating... eeeuw!!

(S)TM - I'm happy to go for the combined MMR jab, I have yet to convince DP that this is a safe option though so will be looking into the evidence.

If you google 'Autism and MMR' there are some good sites to pick through...

Hi Beatie - look forward to more postings next week

Hope everyone has a good weekend, thinking of you RH on your own, good luck x

Cabe · 29/10/2005 01:28

BTW - christmas Noooooooooooo!

I've got five birthdays to get past before I can even think about it.

Bubbles - I love your enthusiasm though - I get like that but not until it's really close... we always try to leave putting the tree up until christmas eve... I did this last year though and failed to get hold of one on the day we cut twiggy branches instead and sprayed them silver and strung them up in the bay window... it looked v. pretty

Oh, now look what you've made me do! I'm thinking about christmas

Cabe · 29/10/2005 01:30

AND What IS there in Estonia to make it a good venue for a stag weekend?!?!?!

Redhelen · 29/10/2005 08:42

Morning all!

Bad night Rachel up from 3.30-4.30 and then ds took over 4.30-5.30 - so after than I was to awake to sleep properly!!

Cabe - cheap beer in Estonia!

Can't decide if I should take the two herberts shopping - need to open a bank account for dd - but if they play up - I may have a tantrum!!!!

At the Halloween party yesterday - my friend the social worker - found my yell at ds (nearly 6) very ammusing ' If you kick Rachel and I'll kick you' - but I have been trying to explain to him you don't attack anyone, partically someone smaller than you - I would never hit/kick him (honest!) but I do seem to yell alot - which I wish I'd stop doing as he now ignores my raised voice - and I sound so common!!!!

Have a good day!!

Redhelen · 29/10/2005 08:44

bubbles - merry christmas!!!

Might start the shopping today!!!! hohohho

KiwiKate · 29/10/2005 10:39

Christmas - hopefully we'll all have a bit more sleep by then . Should be great fun this year.

Grace managed to sleep for 4 hours in a row for the first time last night. Of course, halfway through that ds woke up crying (he has a cold).

In NZ the first immunisations are at 6 weeks, so I am off to do this next week

When ds was getting Christened MIL insited on making an outfit for him. She told me ON THE MORNING OF THE CHRISTENING that she "didn't get around to finishing" the outfit! So he had to wear one of his old baby-grows (we didn't have any "cute" outfits that fit him at that stage). So for Grace's Christening, I'll sort out her outfit myself!!!!!!!!!!

(no worries beatie)

pooka · 29/10/2005 14:11

Hi all. Everything bobbing along here. Love weekends because less pressure to please 2 children as dh takes over with dd. Have been talking about christmas shopping for ages but have done nothing apart from talk about it iyswim. Tom sorted. dd, I know what I'll get her, more or less. Everyone else??? Not a clue.
tom has slept from 8.30 till 6am with one 30 min wake up about 4 times so far, including last night. Went back to sleep at 6.30am in our bed and so none of us (including dd) woke until 9.30am. Unprecedented as dd was an appalling sleeper.

LadyLazarus · 29/10/2005 20:33

just wondering - my DD is almost 7 weeks, when will she start having a proper bedtime? It feels like she's just doing whatever at the minute...sometimes she's settled at 8pm, other nights it's 10.30...

kelli22 · 29/10/2005 21:49

im following the gina ford thing and so far so good, its bearable at least though im tired (as we all are) jess goes to bed at 7 pm and takes anything from 15mins to 1 hour to settle i wake her at 10.30 just enough to change her and feed her then she wakes between 1.30-2.30 for about 40mins then feeds again at 6-7am she usually sleeps from 8ish-9.30am and then feeds and top n tail at 10.30am sleeps 11am to 2pm feeds at 3pm and bath 6pm bottle 6.30 bed 7pm.

on bad days she wakes at 5am but usually settles after a bottle until about 7ish.

i've been doing this since Jess was 3weeks old im hoping i can get her to sleep through the night at 3months

pooka · 30/10/2005 06:36

With dd she ddn't settle into a nighttime routine until about 12 weeks ish when I started giving her a bath, followed by breastfeed and then into her big cot upstairs.
DS has kind of naturally fallen into a routine of dropping off anytime between 8 and 9pm. DH and I give him a bath while the other one baths dd (she goes to bed at about 8.15pm (though we are gradually trying to get that earlier) and sleeps for about 12 hours after her bath and stories. He still sleeps downstairs in his carrycot until we go to bed when we transfer him. carefully. Then wakes either once or twice in the night. Gets up when we do. Must start putting him down upstairs. Only reason we havent is that dd takes a little while to wind down before sleep and don't want any noise from him to disturb her. I think the plan is at christmas to start putting him down upstairs (when we can all lie in if we've had a rough evening) in his crib.
I think because he's had to fit in with dd the routine has just evolved to suit her.

OP posts:
beatie · 30/10/2005 08:21

No routine here yet but I am thinking about it. With dd1, it was 15 weeks when we started a bedtime routine. I think we made an unsuccessful attempt some weeeks earlier than that.

I will try earlier with Alice because sometimes she sleeps from 8pm and then feeds again at 10pm and there's no reason why she couldn't be upstairs during those two hours.

Redhelen · 30/10/2005 09:13

I found ds - settled into a routine at 12 weeks.

DD has a bit of a routine appearing 11pm feed, 3am feed and then 6/7am. However a 1pm feed appeared last night and I'm knackered! Think I will up the amount of feed by 1ml to see if this helps (as shes on the bottle)

Was doing very well with children whilst dh away - last 2 days doing nature and craft projects etc. Today I'm the mother from hell! ds has played the drums, his toy electric guitar and a whistle since 6am and dd's crying, I want to open front door & run and keep running!

Told ds I was going to stick his whistle where the sun doesn't shine - that will no doubt come back to haunt me when ds uses the term at school!

mummyhill · 30/10/2005 11:55

Arghhh just looked at clock in dispair to work out when dh will be home from teaching karate and thought yippeee only to remember that the clock hadn't been adjusted when i walked into a different time zone in my kitchen.

bubbles2904 · 30/10/2005 13:26

hello everyone, i know how sad i am about loving xmas, been to asda with my mate and had the taxi driver in stitches when i told him it's only 56 more sleeps LOL, only went for a chicken but ended up spening 78 quid , i bought dd a lovely pink dvd player from superdrug though, a real bargain at £20.

Was supposed to be going my cousins dd's christening today but i'm having a lazy day instead.
Read a letter in dd1s school bag saying that we've got our tickets for aour cinderella pantomine in dec at The Lowry, and have FRONT ROW SEATS, i'm sooooo chuffed and excited.
Also, on the excited front, i'm wearing my slim jeans today, i've not been able to fit into them since february, so am very and that they fit me.
Mia's routine at night time seems to have altered slightly in the last few weeks, she goes down at about half past 10 now and sleeps until 5ish, she was going at about 8 straight after her bath and bottle, and so were we, so it's a huge shock now that i can't go to bed until later LOL, mustn't moan. she is now taking 7oz, and sometimes is still hungry, she's a greedy little monkey. she's 8 weeks old today and i'm left wondering where the time has gone.
Has anyone had their 6 week check yet? i was appaled that my gp wanted to do a internal, i was so , as i hadn't trimmed the hedges since Mia was born as i haven't had time, sorry if tmi.

bubbles2904 · 30/10/2005 13:29

OOPS, REDHELEN, well done for coping alone, and not shouting too much. and MUMMYHILL, i have also messed up regarding the time, i ordered a taxi for 1:00, and was really miffed when it didn't turn up, phoned the company going mad when it was half hour late only to realise that i hadn't put my clock back and it was infact only 12:30
