I am lucky, I have said it before and will say it again I have an excellent Health Visitor who listens to what I am not saying as much as to the words comming from my lips. I have a lot of trust in her and would be gutted if |I had to change before the kids are old enough for to not need her anymore. It is rare IME to find a health professional who takes such an interest and is willing to help so much. Several of my friends have her as their HV too and say exactly the same as me.

With regard to the MRI it will be nice to finally know what is wrong with my spine as I have been in pain for 14 years with it now.

My health visitors are great too Mummyhill. really friendly and approachable. Hope the MRI news is good.

Hi all, just dropping by to say hello while I have the chance. Been lurking for ages, just can't find the time to contribute. Big congrats to STM, lots of love to you all. All fine here - DH off this week so getting lots of help and fitting in lots of househunting. Have put an offer in on a house in SW4, just in the process of haggling ...... Can't wait to be free of the stairs up to our 2nd-floor flat, and to have more space - and a GARDEN.

hello all - thanks for the new thread!
here dd2 is off school with temp & dd3 isn't at pre-school as I thought dd2 would throw-up in the car on the way to school.
Lots of fun today - especially as I didn't sleep much last night. Tired after mastitis plus anaemic as well. Haven't sleep well (here I mean for more than 3hrs at a time) for a weeks now.

Last night went to bed at 11.30 after dealing with dd2 who was sick - was up at 1.30 with ds4 until 3.30. dh tells me I was asleep between 4-4.30 as he was up with ds4 (well - that's ok then! I'm complaining about nothing) From 5.00 was with dd2 who thought she was going to throw up, she couldn't sleep plus had a temperature. Went to bed around 6.30 & then up at 7.00. Look terrible, feel awful & have the whole day & evening to get through. Have just put DD3 in her bed as I just can't manage her behaviour anymore - typical 2yr old as she ignores what I say & constantly annoys dd2 by breaking her games & jigsaws. I'm off to have a cup of tea before I get her out. ds4 having a short nap of a few minutes, dd2 redoing her jigsaw.

My dream - to have full time help at home. We've no family close by to help by plus my friends all have kids to look after as well. A parent at school had a nighttime maternity nurse!!! the luxury. Always jealous when hear that the parents I know send their kids to their grandparents, aunty etc for the afternoon or that they can come & help out without having to travel for a day.

mummyhill - hope you get the news you need about your mri scan. Your hv sounds super - you're lucky with this.
franch - hope you get the house - having a garden will be great.
redhelen - enjoy the sunny weather. Sunny here as well but cold!

Oh Milward - sounds a terrible night - you need chocolate ~& caffine (by the bucket load!)

Oh a nightnurse or a nannie type person - bliss!!! I'd be sick with envy too![emvy]

Well, my friend called me last night (the one who had the baby girl, 3 weeks ago, my goddaughter) and she told me that the baby had been poorly and has found that she's got a hernia, poor little darling
Congratulations stm, i can't propose to dp, i want the tradition, and a nice simple wedding in vegas, (i can hope can't i?)
MILWARD, your night sounds really awful, if it's any consolation, i was up for a lot of it too. Mia just would not sleep, only for 20-30 minutes at a time.

We got married in jeans in Las Vegas at the drive-thru at the Little White Wedding Chapel. Spalashed out on a fancy hrie-car - an AC Cobra. Then stayed ona ranch in the Grand Canyon. Fab.

We went to vegas last october and we went to the valley of fire. I don't know if you went there pooka but it's so beautiful. Our dream is to wed at a small chapel, just off the strip(not in downtown), it has a beautiful garden, then a limo drive to valley of fire for photos and then to the westwood ho for the party. just close friends and family, and 2dds. sounds perfect, your wedding day sounds ideal too pooka xxx

Can you re-new your marriage vows in Las Vegas?

I'd really love to go - saw the strip on tv recently and I have to go!!

Already renewed marriage vows once before - jointly with ds's christening.

Is any one planning a christening/naming ceremony etc. of baby??

I wish that we'd travelled round more bubbles so much beautiful landscape so near but we were only there for 5 days.
Not planning any ceremony for ds - dd hasn't been christened either. Couldn't really do it as not believers (hence the vegas trip) and the idea of family dos involving both sets of parents, step parents etc. just turns my stomach!

How I love my 2 little girls - they are both so beautiful and I'm so lucky that they are healthy and happy and we are able to afford to get them anything they need and give them (hopefully) a good life but...OMG! Nearly through 2nd day alone with 2DDs!! Hats off to all of you with more than 2 of the little darlings as I am really struggling. Was in tears last night when DH got home, I really don't know how I'm going to cope with the two of them. It seems like I just get one sorted/fed/changed and the other needs something. DD1 has seen the sharp side of my temper more than once in the last 2 days - bless her and now I feel very guilty for that and worried that DD2 is going to grow up listening to me berating her sister...HELP!
At least the children and I are not suffering from any ailments - Mummyhill, hope you feel a bit better soon and hugs to all of you coping with colic and wind.
Luckily, Abigail is still only waking once in the night but for at least 1.5 - 2 hours She's also not going down til after midnight so am a bit frazzled. Though obviously not as tired as my poor, poor DH who is getting at least his 8 hours a night but still manages to fall asleep on the sofa when he gets home, sleeps through abigail's squeaking at night and still pronounces that he's knackered in the morning!!! Maybe I should put a clamp on his nipples, tape DD1's constant "mummymummymummymummymummy" and play it to him all day and pump him up so that he doesn't fit into any of his clothes so he can get the full effect!!!!
to mummyhill and pooka. My HV is CR@P. PLease excuse the language but she really is so wet and miserable and God help me if I ever had any problems as I would hate to have to count on her for anything. Not looking forward to her visit tomorrow.
Weddings - Think it's a very personal thing. We had the full big white (actually ivory!) affair. Would have been lynched by several thousand friends and family members if we'd run off to do it quietly somewhere. As it happens, we were both quite happy to share our day with everyone and had a fab time. Suppose it helped that DPs footed a large chunk (though by no means all) of the bill! Bubbles - your plans sound very lovely.
So, (S)TM - you've had a few days now - any dates, plans, colour schemes, venue ideas, dress designs, etc???!!!

Oh, yes, Redhelen. We're planning to get Abigail "done" at the end of Jan. She will be the same age as Jessica was when she was christened (nearly 4mths) and we could have a joint christening (for Abbie) and 2nd birthday (for Jess) as we have a lot of friends and family who live far away and it will save them 2 journeys. Will depend on what dates the priest has free, though.

DD was 18months when we had her christened will have to get david done before that as she stole the show charging round the church.

jessysmummy - Laughed at your plan to get dh more understanding!

A strange man appeared in our house for an hour earlier - he seemed strangly familiar - ds advises me it was Daddy - needless to say he has now gone to Spanish lessons and may be home by nine if he just has one pint (obviously practising - 'uno ceveasa por favor!')sorry Spanish spelling worse than English....

here dd2 temp came back this evening - ahhh dd3 had 3 hr nap in her cot & then behaved better. I slept & bf ds4 for 1hr - bliss. Still in pj's, still look terrible - plus too much coffee & sweet snacks!! Have my sil & her 2 kids coming at the weekend - lots to organise.

Hiya everyone, can't believe I'm managing to read and post this side of midnight!! Hope people managed to get out to enjoy the beautiful sunshine... I spent the morning trapped in windowless lecture halls, but on the plus side - next week is reading week so no lectures for me

Pooka - hope you manage to find a solution to Tom's problem, it's horrid to see them distressed, especially if it's when he's feeding as that's when we can comfort them the most - give the little man a hug from me.

Glad it's not Piles RH... not heard of a fissure, I have 6 week check-up next week so if doc appears any use will ask about my discomfort then.

Jessysmummy, I've only seen my HV once, have tried to make an appointment since Conrad was two weeks but keep missing her and she doesn't return my calls It's a good job I can weigh him at our Bumps and Babies meetings otherwise I'd be completely in the dark about his progress (well other than what I can see - and he looks just fine to me )

Is anyone here absolutely dreading taking their babe in for the first immunisations at 8 weeks? I hate needles myself - have only just reconciled myself to the amound of blood tests and injections I had during preg - I'm rhesus neg and they do bloods and jabs WAY too frequently for my liking!

Just can't think what it'll be like holding him for the nurse... my sister took over for dd's injections, think I'll arrange for DP to come up and take him in - I'll hover outside and swoop in for a feed when it's all over - as it's getting closer it's really bothering me

Cabe- funnily enough I was thinking about the immunisations earlier. Mostly because I'm not sure whether to take dd too or to try and arrange childcare for her. I hated taking dd for them although they're a very necessary evil IMO. But at the same, mil offered to take her but I felt strongly that I should be there. I'm fine with needles myself though (give - or rather, gave - blood frequently as well as being Rh neg too).
I'm actually going to ask for a second opinion about the tongue tie at the check up next week because I'm not sure whether, lovely as she is, the hv has got it right.
JM - I have a friend who's dh complains about tiredness when he sleeps in another room and doesn't get up at night . Me, I just kick dh and he does the winding and nappy change. After all, the way I see it is that it's not as if I get much opportunity for daytime naps either as ds and dd are not very well coordinated in that respect.....YET! Also I've always been more of a sleepy person than him - he can operate on much less sleep than me.
I also sympathise with the pure terror of dealing with 2 after having your dh at home for paternity leave. I was a tearful emotional wreck for about a week (convinced had post-natal depression). But it eased over the last 3 weeks or so, although I still have my moments of meltdown and stomach churning anxiety, mostly when feeding ds while trying to coerce a truculent dd to have nap/eat lunch/get dressed. Have realised that if I seem at least externally breezy, confident and cheerful, dd is much easier as she picks up on my moods like a sponge.

Got up early so i can have the car today and david wanted feeding at 5 didn't realy seem to be much point in going back to bed when the alarm goes off at 6. Am sat here expressing and will then go off and do bottlespacked lunches for those who need them and sort out the kids clothes. By the time i have done all that it will be breakfast time. David has started to cry, think i will leave him for dh to settle.

dd2 sick this morning - woke me up which was just as well as alarm hadn't gone off! got dd3 to school & later will go tothe dentist - not looking forward to another filling. Dentist is a parent at dd1 class so I cring when he sees my awful teeth !! dh at home today & dd1 back from her weeks walking school trip. sil & her kids arrive tomorrow so have to do some cleaning & sort out their room. ds4 is bf at the moment

Hi everyone - it's DH's half term this week so I seem to have less time to myself than when I am on my own with the two girls!

Pooka - glad to hear that coping with a toddler as well as newborn gets easier. I'm just more annoyed with myself for losing it. Today is another day and I WILL NOT SHOUT AT JESSICA! In fact will take them both out somewhere nice (not that DD2 will notice) after the HV has been. Don't know about the girls but I know that I will need cheering up after that!!
Redhelen - maybe you should change the locks to stop that strange intruder in your house - or amybe that's what DH wants?!
As for imunisations, am hoping I'll be able to take DD2 to have them done on one of the days that DD1 is at nursery otherwise it will be a battle to get DM (see below) to look after DD1 as I wouldn't dream of having her present when her little sister is being tormented like that!
Got out for a nice sunny walk yesterday when both DDs fell asleep and then proceeded to sleep for 3 hours when we got home! Bliss! With this info - DH couldn't understand why the house hadn't been cleaned from top to toe! He pretended that he was joking but I could tell he was really disappointed. As for waking him in the night for winding duty. I DID start doing that until one night when I tried twice to wake him with no success. He did however amazingly hear me muttering not nice things when I was putting DD2 back down! Resulted in a male sulk for 2 days!! So not even going to attempt that again.
WARNING...ANOTHER MOAN COMING...scroll down to avoid rant - I'm sure you all have enough to deal with at the moment! DM has abandoned us again!! She's gone off for a spa weekend in Ireland. From my descriptions - Italy one week (yes, she did miss the birth and DD1 ended up being looked after by nextdoor neighbour as sister couldn't fit her in to her schedule!), spa weekend another - you'd think she was really glam. Thing is she very rarely goes anywhere and has very few friends but seems that since I've had DD2 she suddenly has all these lunch dates and holidays. She's only seen DD2 3 times (all very fleetingly) but still manages to see my DS's children at least 3 times a week and really loves babies (she was a MW and HV). Don't know what would have happened if I'd have had a C-section and really needed the help (as my sister did - DM was at her house at 8.30 every morning so that she could go back to bed!) Gosh I really sound like someone suffering from sibling rivalry! I know I'm not imagining it as other family members have commented on DM's unnatural obsession with my nephews. I don't begrudge DM having fun especilly when she is 67, in a not particularly happy marriage and suffers with arthritis and osteoporosis. She really shouldn't be lugging toddlers around and I hate the fact that DS's children always take priority. Ok - moan over, sorry!!

Grrrrr... HV phoned at 10.25 to say that she wasn't going to be able to make her 10.30 appt. No wonder they're so far behind with their toddler check ups!
