I was lucky and got the same midwife too. (Katherine), she was lovely. Sorry to hear of your nightmare, Ursi, hope it gets better for you. x

ursigurke · 09/06/2011 21:49

Oh, I hadn't even thought of that. She is working in the birthing centre, not the normal labour ward. But you ladies are still right, the consultant actually said, that it is still possible to give birth there from todays point of view. So who knows, it might be her again (we actually had to go to the normal labour ward with Paula because I needed to be monitored but the midwife came with me as there were no other birth in the birthing centre in that particular night)

longwayaway · 11/06/2011 07:05

Well, definitely not pregnant here, and just as well - we weren't quite ready yet. Having a Wine tonight and enjoying it Grin

Hope you all have lovely weekends xx

scarlotti · 11/06/2011 13:02

longwayaway shame you're not pg but glad it's the news you were wanting. Plenty of time for that to happen! Hope you enjoyed your Wine

ursi glad to see you're taking all this blood tests thing in your stride, if it is a little annoying that you don't get the information you need/want. So much less stressful the second (and third!!) time around as you've already been through all the worries once so can put a lot of them to one side.

I have now won a tent on eBay so ladies, am ready for a camping weekend!! I pick it up in 2 weeks Grin have also been to Aldi this weekend as they had a major deal on loads of camping bits so am almost sorted now!
So far I've seen a yes from pav, SirB, Juicy and me ... anyone else fancy it? Once we know who does then we can find somewhere that suits us all - Juicy you live in a lovely neck of the woods so wouldn't imagine we'd be too far from you anyway!!

MsInterpret · 13/06/2011 08:21

Hi everyone!

We've had a hectic time here being away fro two weekends in a row - first to Glasgow for a lovely and very romantic wedding - it was a humanist ceremony and so personal and beautiful. And this weekend we were in North Yorkshire, catching up with all my old flatmates from uni and our expanding families. It was so nice seeing Rosa playing away with my friends' little ones. She was only 6months last time so a bit little but this time she was running around with them like a mad thing. And she has picked up so many more words, too. One of my friends has a 3 week old (hence why we were on her home turf in N Yorkshire) and he was so gorgeous. Made me think of you DWB and katster. how are your little bundles doing?

Hope you enjoyed your Wine on Saturday eve longway. Glad you are at peace with the pg test result. And can continue having fun trying!

I am up for camping too - in theory. Just that we have lots of bits and bobs planned for August so pinning down a weekend might be hard. Sorry to sound non-committal, I don't mean to. With being a teacher lots of things tend to get packed into August and it makes it a bit crazy.

I am coming up your way in a couple of weeks wook - to a hen do on the Norfolk broads at Horning. Did I say August was crazy? Make that June onwards...

skorpion · 13/06/2011 09:56

I'd be up for a weekend camping as well. Haven't got any plans for the summer yet (DH is at the moment just using his holiday for a ride across the Pyrenees). New Forest is a favourite, but am OK to travel for a couple of hours any way from Oxford.

Longway, sorry, meant to say glad the news was what you wanted.

Been on my own with Lucy since last Tuesday and the poor mite's been ill. At first we got antibiotics for an ear infection (started on Friday), but have to go back to the GP today. as she has something in her upper gums - a tooth is cutting through and the whole front looks infected - bloody and white and her breath is quite bad and her tongue seems to be affected as well, covered in white spots that seem to be painful :( It causes her pain, occasional temp, she can't chew so all food must be mashed. DH had something like that a few years back and it turned out to be a fungal infection, so I'll see what the GP says later. Feel so sorry for her. Fortunately she's not down all the time, just when it flares up, I give her painkillers for that.

We've had some lovely time, just the two of us. I've printed a photo of DH with her to put on the table we have our meals at and every morning she greets it with a cheerful 'tata!' (Polish for 'dad'). Still, I can't wait for DH to come back on Friday!

Broodzilla · 14/06/2011 12:33

Ooh, I wish I could come camping with you all! None of you fancy coming over to Finland do you? :)

Skorpion How did Lucy get on at the GP?
Katster Sorry to hear you had such a rough start, hope things are calming down now and that you can enjoy the two boys.
DWB I am in awe really, the pics of fb are so cute!
longway enjoy the wine while you can :)

Erm, and I am joining the ranks with Ursi and Skorpion Blush
We were sort of thinking about TTC2, and then it just happened... Feels so unreal... but heard the little heart beating last week and it's slowly starting to sink in. :)

I'm sorry to do such a general post, I'm SO tired and struggling to stay awake at work...

Who asked about co-sleeping? We are, still. I actually like it, but would really not mind if Lukas decided to drop night feeds some time soon... not sure what we'll do when no2 comes along, probably have a family bedroom, as our bedroom is plenty big and I think for us, it's easier to have a dedicated guest room (we've got a constant stream of visitors, I can't remember the last time we didn't have someone staying...)

skorpion · 14/06/2011 14:06

Congratulations, Broodzilla!! How far along are you? The tiredness of the first weeks is a mare, I'd forgotten that. Hope you're all well apart from being knackered.

Carry on with the antibiotics and if it doesn't clear up go see the dentist is what the GP said. Thanks for asking.

longwayaway · 14/06/2011 16:40

Congrats, Brood! I didn't realize you were in Finland.

scarlotti · 14/06/2011 20:20

Hooray Brood Grin lovely news!

JuicyLips · 15/06/2011 09:49

Congrats Brood!

katster37 · 15/06/2011 10:46

congrats Brood Yay!

helips · 15/06/2011 12:39

Ahhh congrats Brood how lovely Grin

Ninjacat · 15/06/2011 16:18

Congrats Brood.

Put me down for camping too Scarlotti.

I'm hoping Alfie gets better soon because I'm off to Glastonbury (to work - boo) sans children one week tomorrow!

(He has been ill for over three weeks with temp, snot and general malaise. Blood test on Friday. Just hoping that he picks up sooooon)

MsInterpret · 15/06/2011 17:53

Congratulations Brood!

Enjoy Glastonbury ninja!

Grin
scarlotti · 15/06/2011 20:04

Ninja hooray for camping and for glasto Envy but poor Alfie, hope he's better again soon.

So far then we're looking for somewhere between Devon, Bristol, Dorset, Oxford and Brighton - probably not too unrealistic actually... any more takers? Grin

ursigurke · 15/06/2011 21:51

Congratulation, broodzilla, and nice to see you back.

wook · 16/06/2011 20:28

Yes to camping!
Congrats Broodzilla
MsI That's very much my neck of the woods- when's the hen do?

wook · 16/06/2011 20:28

Ninja you lucky thing. We're going to Latitude again this year but underwhelmed by the line up... and terrified of H escaping the travel cot!!

MsInterpret · 16/06/2011 21:19

wook - Hen do is on weekend of 1st July...could there be a mini-meet-up on the cards?

I am going for the 'MNer who has met the most of Nov 09 gang' award. Grin

MsInterpret · 16/06/2011 21:22

I mean '...who has met the most of Nov 09 gang prior to Toddler Camp 2011'. Wink

katster37 · 19/06/2011 18:06

Hi all!
Just a quick hello as really should be sorting out tea etc, but quickly trying to catch up!
I am so jealous for the camping trip! I would be well up for it if it weren't for having a little 'un as well. DWB how's it all going?
MsI your life sounds v busy at the min- but lots of fun! Where in N Yorks were you? We are round there nowadays! You could've popped in for a brew, esp with your new target of meeting as many MNers as poss!!
Ninja I am so jealous of your glasto-ing. Have fun. And I hope Alfie picks up. Has he already had the blood test?
All ok here - busy but good. Bravely booked a holiday - to Menorca in Sep. Just need to figure out how we contain a 6 month old and 22 month old on a plane. Arrrgh. (Plus I generally have to down several glasses of wine to get on a plane! Not that that will really be an option this time...)

wook · 19/06/2011 20:28

MsI how much of the weekend are you here for? I am away for some of it but it would be lovely to meet up and introduce H and R!
Katster I also have to have an alchoholic breakfast before getting on a plane and have only done it with one baby but it was OK, you just need a shield of steel to cope with the looks of more unenlightened (ie child free) passengers!

MsInterpret · 19/06/2011 20:52

Sadly wook, I have just realised I won't have Rosa with me in Horning! What a shame! But you are in for camping right...?

katster - we were in Goathland. Any where near you?

Hope all the daddies of the thread had a nice day today. My dad was passing through oxford on the way home from a very rainy holiday in France so we got to have lunch with him and step-mum and DH and little Roo. nice.

katster37 · 20/06/2011 12:46

Hmm MsI not too near - about an hour and a half! Sounds nice though.

Wook glad I"m not the only alcoholic passenger. I am dreading the looks from other passengers. Esp if I am breathing alcohol fumes over everyone too! I think we will just get S a couple of new things to 'explore' in the naive hope that they will be of more interest than the person in front/aisle/cockpit whatever, and hope that H sleeps Hmm

Father's Day was nice here, had friends over for lunch so didn't do anything especially 'father's day'-y, but DH isn't really into it anyway. But he did get a lie-in!
