Hi All!! Just to let you know, Frederika Marcjanna was born on Saturday. I had another emcs, seems I am in lucky posession of a stupid cervix and an uncooperative uterus, first started to - what's the opposite to dilate? - 'inflate' (?) after nearly two hours of pushing, the second ruptured to add to the fun. All ended well, we are just very grateful to live in a time and a part of the world where these things can happen but end fine.

Back at home now with our new baby, all cute turtle neck, papery hands and feet and furry forehead. She has taken to feeding like a pro. Lucy has all of a sudden doubled in size since Friday! She's all pokey fingers and heavy kisses to her little sister, who luckily doesn't seem to mind much at the moment.

I am just happy to have my lovely family around and remember how newborn grunts and little noises are just the best in the world... Can you see the hormones kicking in yet??

Speak soon xxx

Pavlovthecat · 26/09/2011 19:27

skorpion congratulations!! and welcome to Frederika Marcjanna! Sound very intense but you also sound remarkably calm and chilled about it all!

Hope you continue to feel so wonderful and as happy as you sound x

scarlotti · 26/09/2011 20:14

Ah, skorpion what lovely news and a huge congrats to you all with a big welcome to Frederika (what a beautiful name Grin)
Sorry to hear you went through the mill again, but all is well that ends well, and delighted to see you're in post-baby bliss xxx

MsInterpret · 26/09/2011 21:12

Congratulations skorpion and family. What wonderful news to hear of Frederika's safe arrival!

Enjoy getting to know her. Smile

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/09/2011 18:00

Oooh congratulations Ursi and Skorpion and welcome to Anton and Frederika! Happy times :)

I'm sat here, Mr Toes eating his tea next to me, asking me to play 'Night Garden Song' on the laptop for him. Well it's usually either that or Radio Ga Ga by Queen, 'DJ Song' by Kesha, or Packup by Eliza Doolittle, he loves all of those at the moment!

Pavlovthecat · 27/09/2011 20:39

Grin DD loves the eliza doolittle one too. She is not a huge music fan but that one gets her going! DS likes 'un crocodile', a french nursery rhyme, but has to have it with the video to go with it! He also likes my plan B album (aglen algen! when I play the 'she said') and Mumford and sons! Also really into classical music, stuff like the Tron soundtrack and stuff with big booming drums! he adores music and dances to it all the time. god knows where he gets that from. We just got back of holiday at a caravan park (never again ladies, let me tell you. never again) and the day we came home he had a tantrum as he kept running towards the clubhouse with his arms in the air, rocking from side to side going 'dancin? dancin mama?' sooo cute.

helips · 28/09/2011 05:30

Congratulations Skorpion, hope you are enjoying little Frederika, what a beautiful name! Sounds like you had a rough ride but like you say we are lucky today with our health care. Best wishes to your little family!

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/09/2011 14:10

Oooh I love Mumford and Sons (and Stornoway) which Toes calls 'mummy music'. DS1 loves Now 78 and we play it all the time in the car, although I have to fast forward the really dodgy songs. He also likes Adele. DS2 isn't really into music.

They are very cute when they dance! But then I dance around a lot so they are used to it!

longwayaway · 29/09/2011 18:10

Congrats Skorpion! Sorry to hear it was another rough ride, but glad to hear it ended well. Welcome to the world, little Frederika!

BBL Ha, am listening to Stornoway right now! Love Mumford & Sons too.

OK, sorry to comment and dash but we're on our way out of town, heading to the airport in a couple hours and still haven't packed! La dee da! Going to a friend's wedding and visiting the PILs. Very excited!

xx

skorpion · 03/10/2011 15:44

Hi! Thank you All. Nice to see people dropping back in. All our toddlers sound so sweet.

Day 9 and Freddie has already put on 85 gram over her birth weight. What a difference to Lucy (dropping and dropping until they asked me to supplement with formula)! She eats beautifully and although I am again very sore I know this time that it will get better.

My recovery is annoyingly slow, have developed a haematoma around the scar which popped on Thursday night (poor DH had to call out an ambulance as neither of us were prepared for that and didn't know what was happening) and then again on Saturday, and it still bleeds... Bastard. I find it so frustrating not to be able to do things and having to take things easy, I think my nesting instinct has just kicked in, after the birth Hmm

But I have my mum around every other weekend and ILs were here Friday to Sunday, so it's great help.

Just want to heal now and get back to being normal. Whatever that may mean...

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine :)

Ninjacat · 03/10/2011 18:34

Ah Scorps congratulations and healing vibes.

Sorry I don't get on here often but the women of this thread are often on my mind. Such a godsend it was in those early pregnancy days when time seemed infinite and nappies were a choice between disposible or not.

Miss you ladies. Wish there was more time in the day Smile

Fruitpastels · 04/10/2011 13:58

Congratulations skorpion!! Glad to hear little frederika is doing well. Hope you start to feel better very soon. You'll soon be running about!

Hello to everyone. I've not be on here that much either. Like Ninja said, wish we had more hours in the day.

Broodzilla · 05/10/2011 11:40

Checking in... and got a all teary eyed at the new arrivals!
CONGRATULATIONS Ursi and Skorpion!

You both seem so together and clearly pros at this new baby stuff! :)

Nothing much to report here... I miss you all, keeping up with those of you on fb, but missing the "thread-a-month-athons" of 2009!
Lukas is doing well, started full-time daycare in August, had a nightmare with the first one, a couple of weeks of soul-searching on our part later we bit the bullet and swapped: he's happy now, loves his new "Daymama". He's been going potty since the summer, and manages most days with just one or two pull-up nappies (I'm not confindent he could go without yet...) he doesn't really like doing poos in the potty, but has done a few and is very proud when he does. :) He's talking lots, and understands that different people speak different languages, and he rarely addresses anyone in the "wrong" language. He's going through a willy stage, and was quite concerned about mama not having one, until one day he decided that he and dadda both have willies and mama has a belly... Hmm
I can't believe he'll be 2 on Friday! WHERE did the time go??

I'm still working FT, and starting to really struggle... I can't remember being this big and knackered last time... luckily (perhaps due to bfing?) got away with hangoverish nausea this time, but my feet and hands (and the rest of me...) have been massive for weeks and there's no hope of doing any form exercise because everything hurts... but I keep telling myself there's plenty of time for that later...

24 weeks tomorrow, still seems like a long way away...

Hope you're all keeping well.

DontWorryBaby · 12/10/2011 06:21

Congratulations Skorpion - hope your lovely baby is doing well, and big sister too.

Sorry I've been AWOL - had final module assignment due in for uni last Friday which was tough going. Now hubby is in hospital, having just had surgery on his spine to remove a disc as he was experiencing numbness in his legs & groin after landing awkwardly from a jump at rugby. Not sure what the outcome is after the op yet but I have a very upset toddler who has been inconsolable at times with no daddy at home and it's impossible to explain to him what's happening. Any advice? I'm trying my best to stick to his routine but also accept help from others so we're at my mum's just now & DSIL might stay with us at home tonight to help. I don't know how to help him, other than lots of hugs and reassurance. SadSadSad

Fruitpastels · 12/10/2011 20:13

DWB so sorry to hear your news. Wishing your DH a speedy and successful recovery and hope he is back with you all at home soon. You sound like you're doing everything you can to try and settle DS1. The cuddles/kisses and lots of family around him is the best any mum could do. Not easy I know Smile. Must have been a huge shock for you. Hope you are managing to look after yourself. All the best and wait to hear your update soon. X

MsInterpret · 12/10/2011 20:21

Oh dear DWB what a stressful time! How long will DH be in hospital? My mum had the same surgery, a long time ago now so I can't remember the exact details unfortunately but I I hope he has a full recovery soon. Can you take Ethan to visit him? Other than that sounds like you are doing a brilliant job in a difficult situation.

I have been awol too as had such a full-on time at work. It was always going to be hard but this term so far I have had Ofsted, looking specifically at the year group I am teaching (and this is the first time I've taught such young children so was panicking I was going to be 'found out' as doing something wrong...) Luckily my lesson was graded as good and everything went well. before that one of my children in the class collapsed with a high temperature and had a febrile convulsion. It was BLOODY scary but again, luckily she is all right and our first aid was all correct thank god. Add to that snotty emails from parents, the Head handing in her resignation (so more upheaval after Xmas...) and the general craziness of teaching and .........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Off to bed for an early night.

Hope new babies are letting you get some sleep skorpion and ursi.

Missing you all...

skorpion · 14/10/2011 13:32

DWB, oh dear, so sorry to hear about your DH. I hope he recovers very quickly. Sorry, no advice except what you are already doing. Definitely accept all offers of help coming your way, I'm glad you have family around wishing to give you a hand.

I am relying on people chipping in with Lucy as well. Poor thing is so deprived of mama time, well, in my mind at least - she is enjoying lots of granparent visits and being invited to play with friends' children. I am so grateful for that. She's certainly going through some tantruming phase and I find it so hard to be patient with her. I can't seem to stop getting angry with her and the 'pick your battles' mantra escapes me when every single thing seems to become a battle... Any tips on how to turn back from a harpie into a nice mama again very welcome...

Frederika at least is chilled as can be and seems to sleep and sleep and sleep, at least during the day. Feeding has established really well now, so much better than the first time round, just need to gently encourage her to stop mixing day and night, thank you very much.

Broodzilla and Fruit, nice to see you. How is your Dad, Fruit?

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 19/10/2011 21:03

Just posting to say I am still here, albeit quietly! DH started new job this week, it is chaos, work is chaos, don't know if I am coming or going with working hours, childminding etc as his training is all over the place. Roo going to childminders til xmas due to nursery not taking him til his 2, so a bit of a testing time for all of us. I am scared/worried/anxious and right now so wish I was a SAHM. I am missing my children very much as working more than usual, long hours to get flexi in the bank to see us through (not official mind, just a very understanding boss, but only so far!). And Unfortunately DH has seen too much of the kids at their worst, so when DD gets up all cute at 7:45pm with her duvet and pillow for snuggle and I say 'come on 10 mins the bed' DH walks in and goes 'what is DD doing up?!!! BED!' cue tears and I want to just take them both (the kids) into bed and spend the night cuddling and sleeping badly with them both. I realise I do not like change and I am nervous of the future. DH has been out of work so long the pressure of what this means is enormous. And this is a possible future career for him if it works out so not just a 'go, do shit, come home' job.

Oh sorry I am rambling.

DS is just marvelous. He is just so adorable, happy, funny (has the most amazing sense of humour) laughs and smiles all the time and the kids just love each other so much it makes my heart ache with pride. I just wish I could be the mum I really want to be. I want to make their dinner every day and collect them from school and play toys with them, and paint with them and go swimming with them (DH goes swimming with DS every week, or has done for a while. instead of vegging in front of Fireman Sam or Annie and getting them to bed on time because I am so knackered after working with adults who need the same care my children do.

Sorry, more rambling. Hope you are all ok!

katster37 · 20/10/2011 13:51

Hi all!!

I am so rubbish and haven't been on here in ages (life's too manic for me!) but I think about you all lots! Just trying to catch up with all the lovely news - wow, big congrats to Skorpion and Ursi! Yay! Skorpion sorry to hear about the heamatoma, that sounds very scary.

DWB how is DH? Poor you. You seem to cope so well with everything!

Hi to everyone else - am catching up on news slowly!

All ok here - manic but good! H is 7 months now! Can't believe it! Goes so quickly. S is doing well but still slow on the speech front. A lot of his words sound very similar. He is currently obsessed with aeroplanes, bless him.

Helips we have also had a week of illness, with a horrid virus striking us all (and my parents!). I am scared to go to playgroups etc for fear of getting something else! Yuck. This is the worst thing about autumn/winter.

katster37 · 20/10/2011 13:53

Skorpion I feel for you with Lucy - I am exactly the same with Sam and he gets a lot of grandparents' attention. I try and do at least one thing with just him during the day and make it special somehow. And I ignore a lot of the 'tedious' behaviour, distract etc.

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/10/2011 08:17

Hi everyone, hope you are all well today. Katster good to hear from you. WOw doesn't time fly? I'm off on holiday today with, wait for it, 15 children and 4 other mums. We did this last year (not as many) and we've got a cottage in South Wales and between us we have 15 children under ten. Aghhhh. I feel sick with excitement and anxiety.

DWB how is your DH doing?

Mr Toes is doing very well - he's sooo lovely. Pavlov I know exactly how you feel. I wish I could spend more time with the DSs, instead of constantly working on the laptop and half hearing them do their reading after school, most of my friends here are SAHMs and they just seem to have more time for their children and they do fun things with them in the holidays and on weekends when I can't because I have work to do. Ho hum.

katster37 · 22/10/2011 17:30

BBL yay good to hear from you. Wow, holiday sounds exciting but stressful! I'm sure you're having a great time. I hope the weather's good for you. It's crazy how time flies. Just can't believe Sam will be two next month!!! Seems like no time at all that I was heavily pregnant, totaly unaware of the havoc that was about to be born!

fluffypinkcurlygirl · 01/11/2011 11:29

Hi all. Have name changed again as I needed a change. (Trikken/Juicylips) We are definately into birthday season Doesnt feel like its been two years already. . Annabelle has really come along with her talking in the past few weeks. she can say so many things now. Yes you can and Im hungry are her newest phrases I think. Am getting ready for her birthday already. hope you are all well. It has been very quiet on here again. Im guessing we are all kept very busy.I have decided to make a hello kitty cake as peppa pig is probably quite a lot harder.

katster37 · 03/11/2011 19:58

Hello fluffypinkcurlygirl - good to hear from you! Also getting very excited about birthday. I am thinking I am going to make a 'general mess' cake (as that is what my house feels like most of the time!) with lots of lovely cake decorations, sweeties, food colouring etc. (the cake my mum would never let me make!)
Happy birthday to those Nov09 babies who have already turned two. Gosh, it really is going quickly. I keep getting flashbacks to the labour ward room that night....and the evil midwife telling me I could be there until 'tomorrow afternoon so you'd better get used to the pain' approx 20 min before Sam was born...grrr. Crikey, time flies.
