Crisp it sounds like you had a lot of fun.

Lucky do your girls eat soups? I was only just reading this article and thought you might enjoy it too. I eat loads of soups. The girls are pretty good soup eaters. I am a firm believer in the power of soup.Grin

santashappychick · 19/12/2010 15:34

Thank you TS unfortunately not great soup eaters but willing to give any thing a shot! Getting their Pre/pro biotics down them on a daily basis but that's about it!

Not so much a snowman but volcano built in the back garden as the snow was too powdery!! Xmas Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 19/12/2010 15:36

Ooh yes TS, DD2 always has 2 bowls Grin. Mind you, she is ill now though Hmm

DD1 asleep again. I am hoping she doesn't have a concussion as DH managed to upend her off the sledge yesterday onto her forehead Hmm. Fingers x'd she is just fighting a bug

Loti i hate building snowmen too - not sure why. I think sledging or shovelling snow keeps you warm but building a snowman just gives me cold hands. Brrrrr

Catching up on Strictly final now Smile

CrispyTheCrisp · 19/12/2010 15:37

Grin @ snow volcano Grin

TwilightSurfer · 19/12/2010 22:53

Admitting this only once to get it off my chest, I am dealing with a crap depressed mood and would do almost anything to skip this holiday week.

Now back to my taped on smile and force positive attitude.

Changed out my shower head today. I added a filter to remove the chlorine. We are all dealing with really dry skin. I hope this gives us some relief. I took DD1 to the doctor on Thursday (during some crazy fb posting my Bibi) so confirm her eczema. Everybody in the house but me suffers from it and everybody's is different looking.Hmm We now have new body wash (it's really an oil) and new body cream. I'm becoming a nag regarding water. DRINK! DRINK! DRINK! Fingers crossed by week's end we'll see some improvement in all three of them.

Question: If R can tell me she's wet/dirty, remove her diaper, go get a fresh diaper, and almost put the new one on without help...should I be potty training?Confused

Have I missed a birth announcement from Queenie? She's due the same as a friend of mine who had her baby via CS yesterday. It was a boy!

HippyChristmaspotamus · 19/12/2010 23:14

TS dh says 'i think the answer is yes!"

TwilightSurfer · 19/12/2010 23:19

Well then ask him how to convince her to sit on the pot!

SilkStalkings · 19/12/2010 23:19

TS Have you tried St John's Wort for mood?

Just back from my BF's Christmassy gig, lovely night. Have just realised I could have gone on to the pub where DH has been playing tonight but stupidly came straight home to relieve the babysitter. It was only 11pm, I am a nob. Also relaized I had the handbrake on part of my journey (was wondering why car felt so luggish, thought it was the ice!) so does that make me a double-ended nob?Wink

SilkStalkings · 19/12/2010 23:22

Oh and TS if potty training is too much hassle for you right now, don't go looking for extra work. She's sharp enough to push you when she's ready.

TwilightSurfer · 19/12/2010 23:22

Silk I've considered it but think it's more "lack of sunshine and missing my mom" related. Can't seem to get her off my mind. I just want to go sit in the sand some place warm and have fruity drinks brought to me while my toes are washed over with warm salt water.

CrispyTheCrisp · 19/12/2010 23:30
Smile

I couldn't convince DD2 to go on the potty, just had to let her go bare bummed with a potty in the vicinity. No intervention needed Grin

LOL at 'double ended nob' Grin

AIBU to hope think that the snow may mean PIL can't come for Xmas Blush

SilkStalkings · 19/12/2010 23:35
Merlion · 20/12/2010 04:52

TS sending you some sun and sand.

Crispy sounds like a lovely evening.

Presents all wrapped last night. DH doesn't think DS has enough Xmas Hmm.

I have another scan tomorrow and we have decided to find out what flavour it may be.

UrsulaUnderTheMistletoe · 20/12/2010 05:59

That will be fun Merlion! Good luck with it, we will be desperate to needle you into telling us what you find out! You must be getting a swelling little bump now.

Hope you are all well. TS sorry to hear you've got the blues, this time of year can be a real body blow if you're missing someone who should be there. For me it's my pa. However, we are unexpectedly having my brother & sil over with their children, for Christmas Day itself, looking forward to it as they are all fab :) and as they don't live in Ireland we miss them.

I got "make your own crackers" from M&S as the other ones were either crap or 65 quid with silver plated keyrings or something. Am feeling rather swindled/foolish actually as I should have bought a bunch of snaps and truly made my own instead of buying a kit

santashappychick · 20/12/2010 07:08

morning

gosh urs u are up early Xmas Grin.. no help for xmas eve party from here, i have a boxing day one and am struggling Hmm,, was thinking soup lots of leftovers and hassleback potatoes Hmm

dd2 up at the crack of dawn and grumpy too, getting really fed up with her cold poor thing

TS sorry to hear that you are not feeling your happy self but glad you sorted your shower.. would looking/booking your next vacation help lift your mood??? i am missing my mum massively too, its been 9 years since i last saw here and that is way to long imo but man the woman can hold a grudge Hmm

day 1 of school holidays god help me!!!

Good luck today merlion, cannot wait to find out what favour!!

blueberrysantabait · 20/12/2010 07:33

Morning all

We had DH's company dinner last night with whole families so the girls are brokenly tired this morning - bed at 10 and awake at normal time! DD2 is getting ehr top tooth so is waking every 2 hours for more teething gel and/or calpol.

My Dsis has left her passport at uni, is snowed in in a place that got to -19 on Friday night and is due to fly home tomorrow. I have managed to grass her up to my parents via FB but it means they now know what is happening. I have organised a courier to collect her passport and drop it to the local post office so she can get down the impassable hill where a farmer friend will take her to collect it and she will stay in a local B&B over night and a 4x4 taxi will take her to the airport extra early on Tuesday for her flight - and if it is cancelled we have to get her from there to here for Christmas day. All a huge saga with un-necessary complications caused but teenage forgetfulness!

I have to get DH to work and his lovely car doesn't go anywhere in this weather.

Santa - hope today isn't too hectic.

Merlion - ooh how very exciting, I can't believe you are that far along already!

Ursula - night away sound heavenly. Botts will be worn with skinnies until I can find a dress I like.

TS - {{HUGS}} Hope you are feeling on the up soon.

SilkStalkings · 20/12/2010 10:00

Trying to decide whether to drive up to Basingstoke to see friend or wait til Wednesday and so some work on a database of local schools I'm building for future clients. Have spent the whole weekend indoors apart from last night so I am a bit desperate to try it and weather says although there'll be no snow, it will be colder on Wed which means more icy roads, no?

Ursula Lots of smoked salmon on offer at the mo, could do blinis, cream cheese, cheapo caviar? Or do a proper afternoon tea style thingy with dainty sandwiches, scones and cloudy lemonade. And cockatail snags for the kids.

santashappychick · 20/12/2010 11:14

Two whingy children for sale going v v cheap Sad Sad

threat of no Santa not working and mummy in danger of going insane and [breathe]

TwilightSurfer · 20/12/2010 11:50

OMG! I can read this on my new phone!!!!

Thanks for the salt water and kindness.

Merlion, I want to know so if you don?t have the doc ring me.Wink

Ursula, There is no shame in a proper short cut! If you make it in your home it is homemade. I think cheese and fruit sounds better than weiners. [SMILE]

LUCKY mine will be on the market soon I fear. Holidays can be so boring forkids.

Keypad takes some getting use to but very excited to be able to read mm on my phone. Merry to me!!!

TwilightSurfer · 20/12/2010 11:55

Blueberry, keep us posted on your drama. Might get entertaining. She could fall in love with the4X4 taxi driver and elope. Talk about a christmas to remember! Smile

CrispyTheCrisp · 20/12/2010 13:42

Wow, we have a LOT of snow. Still made it to the Playgroup party down in the valley though. I made asked my chauffeur DH if he would kindly drop us off and pick us up Grin. I did drive home though which was fine and actually quite fun until we met a 6.5l Bentley which was slewing across the road Hmm. So we came home and DH went back and winched him out. Apparently he is driving to North Wales in it

BBBB from the look of the news reports there aren't many flights leaving at all and the M4 is currently closed between Reading and Heathrow. Hope she gets somewhere, either SA or back to you

Ursula sounds like a fab night. Glad you had a brill time Smile. Re crackers, i ask all our guests to bring a homemade one, for their gender. Rules are it has to have a hat, joke and a present for less than a £1 which must fit inside a normal loo roll holder size. We have had some brilliant ones in the past - the ?1 (or 99p as we have here) shop is your friend

LOL @ TS and her new technology Grin

silks i would not be driving anywhere

CrispyTheCrisp · 20/12/2010 13:45

ursula hot roast pork rolls & apple sauce are brilliant for just an occasion

santa hope things are calm now. I am employing Madagascar; seems it is doing a great job at childcare Hmm

merlion how exciting, pleeeeeeeeeease share. Pretty Please? Grin

blueberrysantabait · 20/12/2010 13:56

Dsis's courier just rang to say he was too busy and wouldn't get to it today so she called me in floods of tears. I rang a reputable firm who have already gone on their way to collect and get it to the designated place! She has to get to the airport in Birmingham as she is flying via Paris and if she checks in they are duty bound to provide her with food/hotel etc and then sort out her connecting flights, so s bit of time on the ground in Brum is worth it if she wants a chance of getting home. I am thankful it is not Heathrow!

huge snow here and I made the mistake of heading to Morrisons for a few things as I didn't shop last week and all out shopping deliveries have been cancelled. It was hell - no actually hell would have been preferable! DD1 at an entire cucumber whilst we tried not to crash into old people to shop and if one more old lady tutted at her eating before we paid for it I would have shoved it up her nose! DD2 did a good line in needing feeding and then choking on a piece of croissant and scaring the checkout lady. Home and Showme Show Me is on and I am ready for a cuppa.

santashappychick · 20/12/2010 14:51

Bbbb obv in brum so if your sis needs any help/sleep just let me know x

santashappychick · 20/12/2010 14:52

That should of said place to sleep Blush
