The dust has almost settled. My assessment of how the BNP performed.

Ok, they didn't make the political breakthrough I'd hoped for, but if you look at the results they are actually very encouraging.

The BNP got 563,743 votes (dispite only fighting half of all the available 650 seats)

They got 10% of the vote. That is pretty amazing for a small party, and under proportional representation those votes would result in seats.

NC will merge with someone (eventually?) and as one of his main aims is to push through PR it's all good for the BNP.

What do these results mean for the BNP ?

The tripling of the BNP vote on May 6th has some important implications.

Firstly, where they went head to head with UKIP and the Greens they thrashed them, they overtook UKIP in 178 seats, and UKIP have far more money than the BNP, and of course UKIP and the Greens are favoured by the media.

Secondly, while all minority parties were pushed to the edge by the bigger parties, the BNP's vote not only help up, but proportionally increased when compared to their June 2009 Euro election results.

The BNP are here to stay, and although the election was a disappointment in some respests, it was a clear sign that 1000's of people up and down the country support the policies of the BNP.

And let's not forget, political pundits had all but written off the Labour party after they lost the 92'election....

They went on to win 3 elections.

This is the thread about SN kids here, posted in AIBU to get maximum exposure and cause maximum upset. If you have a look you will find that DP has done exactly the same on that thread as she has done on here. Stirred up a big old nasty hornets nest, got everyone upset and is now winding things and moving things on with more neutral posts so that a. she doesn't get banned, b. We will all get pulled in again the next time she posts one of her hate filled threads and c. we will all think ah she's not that bad really.

I am Sunfleurs on that thread btw.

noddyholder · 12/05/2010 14:13

That SN thread was my first 'encounter' with DP and I was sickened by her attitude. It was ONLY posted to create upset and to insult as everyone knows MN is a haven of support and advice for parents of children with special needs. We need to ignore this crap it has gone on long enough now that the argument that 'all views are valid and debatable' has become obsolete as the attention seeking troll becomes more and more ridiculous.

over here please ladies

Gigantaur · 12/05/2010 14:18

75% of the country told the liberals to fuck off

yes. and 100% of the country told the bnp to fuck off.

think that says it all

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 12/05/2010 14:34

Daftpunk - you haven't answered my question about these quotes from Jeffrey Marshall -

"in response to the death of Ivan Cameron, son of David Cameron, leader of the Conservative Party, senior BNP member Jeffery Marshall claimed in an internet forum discussion: ?We live in a country today which is unhealthily dominated by an excess of sentimentality towards the weak and unproductive. No good will come of it.?

Later, in response to comments made by others on the site, Marshall is alleged to have written: ?There is not a great deal of point in keeping these people alive after all.?

How on earth can you justify supporting a party that spouts such vileness?

Daftpunk. I know the song you're searching for....'Young gifted and black'.

SirBoobAlot · 12/05/2010 16:35

Have just read the SN thread. Am disgusted and furious.

AndieWalsh · 12/05/2010 16:40

daftpunk, why are you always banging on about the British Nazi Party? Are you honestly trying to change minds on MN? Do you really think any sane person is ever going to see one of your pathetic posts and think: 'Hmmm, I used to think the BNP were a bunch of fascist, racist, anti-semitic nutjobbers, but actually, what daftpunk has said has made so much sense I am now going to go out and vote for Nick 'Hitler Sympathiser' Griffin for PM'?

Please. Stop wasting your time and ours. If you are genuinely passionate about these thugs, go out and campaign on the doorsteps (but be prepared to have a bucket of water thrown over your head if you darken my door). Now run along. Nick needs all the help he can get.

complimentary · 12/05/2010 16:41

sirboobalot. Where is the SN thread?

mathanxiety · 12/05/2010 16:43

Nazi attitude towards the "Unfit".

The BNP are clearly a case of same scum, different bucket.

AndieWalsh · 12/05/2010 16:46

They hate anyone 'foreign', spout a load of old 'rivers of blood' scare-mongery nonsense about immigration, hate Jews, hate Muslims, have repulsive views on those with learning difficulties or disabilities, ditto on women, ditto on gay and lesbian people.

If it looks like a Nazi and smells like a Nazi, it's a Nazi.

TheSteelFairy2 · 12/05/2010 16:46

SN Thread

AndieWalsh · 12/05/2010 16:53

Repulsive thread. MNHQ - ban this nutcase.

LadyG · 12/05/2010 17:19

I think we can only quote Margaret Hodge

"This really is a great moment in our history. On behalf of all the people in Britain, we in Barking have not just beaten but we have smashed the extreme right.

"The lesson from Barking to the BNP is clear: Get out and stay out, you're not wanted here and your vile politics have no place in British democracy. Pack your bags and go!"
Do you understand tha?
Honestly it is not worth wasting one's time on a person who is so deeply stupid and unpleasant. The whole thing is so not Mumsnet- she should be banned IMO.

elliemental · 12/05/2010 17:23

Bloody Nasty Person

posieparker · 12/05/2010 17:30

Right, now I have no love for daftpunk and she is her own worst enemy but I just rescanned that thread and can see not a whole lot wrong with what she posted. Okay she had mistaken thought that SN covered naughty children, or those statemented for behavioural difficulties but is that really so heinous?

Most of the most dreadful things were from other posters who accused her of opinions she never stated.

I am willing to be corrected if someone can actually find things the she posted that actually shows that she is disabilist.

elliemental · 12/05/2010 17:33

I would like to apologise for my last posting. I meant to post Bloody Nasty People. That comment was not aimed at any one individual.
It was possibly a Freudian slip...

AndieWalsh · 12/05/2010 17:38

posieparker, do you have a child with SN? I do and I find that thread disgusting.

Confusing SN with 'naughty' is like confusing 'deaf' with 'stupid'. It is an inaccurate and frankly horrible assumption to make.

TheSteelFairy2 · 12/05/2010 17:44

Her message on that thread was all SN = aggressive, now call me touchy if you like but I take great offense at that. My ds struggles enough with life as it is without having to fight that label as well.

She also posted it in AIBU to get maximum negativity going. If she really wanted to be informed she would have posted on the SN Boards wouldn't she? She knew exactly what reaction she was going to get and posted in order to get it, which is what is so distasteful about it.

Riven also says that was not the only thread, the first one was even worse.

posieparker · 12/05/2010 18:08

No, confusing a child with SN with naughty is crappy, but not the terminology. So under the heading SN...DP thought it meant children who have behavioural issues outside of any real SN. I think that's quite a common error. Plus to some people they think certain behaviours that come with SN are disruptive and in some cases they would be. She did not say I don't want my child to catch SN, or mix with children with SN she just didn't want her child's education compromised by disruptive behaviour.

I just think there is an awful lot to accuse DP of, bigotry, racism, ignorance and disabilist but to save this looking like a witch hunt it's best to stick to stuff she has actually said.

posieparker · 12/05/2010 18:10

Sorry I meant to add ANY child can be disruptive....

AndieWalsh · 12/05/2010 18:16

It's not a 'witch hunt'. Her views are abhorrent to the vast majority (all?) other posters. She deliberately seeks negative attention by spouting her hateful crap.

I don't have to be nice to Nazis, sorry.

TheSteelFairy2 · 12/05/2010 18:21

Sorry I disagree with you PP. She didnt think that at all. She knew it didn't mean that and just posted that thread to hurt and piss people off, which is what angered me. It is a side swipe at kids with SN without actually coming out and saying straight out "I don't think SN kids should be educated alongside my precious NT darling because teachers spending time dealing with SN kids and their issues might slow his progress and what is the point of them anyway?" Right in line with BNP policies on disabilities.

As I said at the time my ds and his SN are nobodys AIBU.

TheSteelFairy2 · 12/05/2010 18:23

It is not a "witch hunt", she has been prodding the lion for a long time now and now she is getting bitten. Its just how it is, the wheel turns full circle and all that.
