Find out how powerful your vote is compared to the UK average

I live in a safe seat, my vote is worthless.

My post code is fine and works... but like MissAnneElk, it shows the old constituency. (Probably because it works off legacy data, and there aren't any for the new constituency which has been formed due to population increase)

Actually... whereabouts are you MissAnneElk?

jofeb04 · 09/04/2010 14:16

O.004 - Ultra safe - Labour area (South Wales Valleys so no surprise there!).

jofeb04 · 09/04/2010 14:17

and the Average voter has 50x more power than I do.

OrientCalf · 09/04/2010 14:29

ooh mine is 0.811 - so very marginal

explains why the Tories ahve sent us ELEVEN letters EACH over the past six weeks - is getting very irritating

onepairofhands · 09/04/2010 17:11

Great website,(nr 380 so v safe seat). However our (standing down) Labour MP has really made himself unpopular as it became clear that he lives 100+miles away and spends his time doing consultancy work for a big company so it might be a bit closer than previously. I'll be voting anyway - women died for my vote.

onepairofhands · 09/04/2010 17:15

OrientCalf - you'll probably find those letters are being funded by Michael Ashcroft who's funding activities in key marginals. That's Lord 'I don't pay taxes here but want to tell you how to run the country' Ashcroft.

thedollshouse · 09/04/2010 17:15

0.148. Tory stronghold.

UndertheBoredWalk · 09/04/2010 17:19

My constituency or postcode do not appear to exist either

MrsJohnDeere · 09/04/2010 17:23

0.082

Safe Tory seat.

farmerjones · 09/04/2010 17:25

0.544. which means i have more than 2.15times the power of the average voter in the uk.
as london tipton says, yeah me!

goygoy · 09/04/2010 17:36

0.045 Ultra safe labour seat (no surprise).

preggersplayspop · 09/04/2010 17:46

Great website. 0.043 safe Tory seat unfortunately. Still going to vote though.

preggersplayspop · 09/04/2010 17:48

Oooh, my parents live in a very marginal seat! I'm sending the link to them.

I've got 0.082 - so no chance of getting rid of Peter Lilley who hates foreigners like my dh

TheCrackFox · 09/04/2010 17:56

According to the website a donkey wearing a red rosette could get elected where I live. Bollocks.

wigglybeezer · 09/04/2010 18:05

Granny, you must be in the same constituency as me! I feel powerful, my vote is 3.25 X more important than average.

TinaSparkles · 09/04/2010 18:20

Um, this says I live in an Ultra Safe Labour seat. The Lib Dems won in a by-election 4 years ago.

said · 09/04/2010 18:24

I have 1.69x more voting power than the UK average.

said · 09/04/2010 18:30

Mine says it's Fairly Safe. So why do George Osborne, and this morning David Cameron, keep writing to both of us? F OFF

toolly · 09/04/2010 18:37

As I suspected. I have a homeopathic vote index

lotster · 09/04/2010 18:38

Tis a cool site.

My constituency ranks #23 out of 650 constituencies in the Voter Power Index, and I have 3.59 times the average voting power.

fridayschild · 09/04/2010 18:48

So this website tells me I am in an ultra-safe seat. When in fact I am in the Lib Dem seat in London most likely to go Tory, because my MP has a small majority and the Tory candidate is a billionaire who has spent £0.25m of his own money trying to buy the seat. If only he was not a tax exile, maybe his millions could have been used to pay taxes to help the local hospital he bangs on about so much....

smugmumofboys · 09/04/2010 18:54

Hmmm. Very safe apparently, but not according to the Indie election pull-out which said that ours was one of the clincher seats as incumbent Labour MP is retiring. Also, Tory candidate came a-calling and told DH that it's not that safe.
