Greens adopt policy treating Zionism as racism

The Greens have formally adopted a policy which equates Zionism with racism, a move that will dismay the bulk of the party’s MPs and has alarmed some Jewish members.

In a vote on Sunday at the party’s annual conference in Brighton about whether to back a motion which calls for Zionism, the movement for a Jewish state, to be “treated as any other form of racism”, it passed by 1,022 votes to 813.

The motion, which is now formal policy for the Greens in England and Wales, also calls for a single Palestinian state in place of Israel “with equal rights for all”.

Four of the party’s five MPs have condemned the motion, as did Caroline Lucas, the former leader who was the Greens’ first MP.

Adrian Ramsay, who co-led the Greens before Polanski, said in a statement he would vote against it, as it set out what sort of Palestinian state should exist without taking into account the self-determination of Israelis and Palestinians.

Siân Berry, another of the MPs, made the same point.

Carla Denyer, the Bristol Central MP who was co-leader with Ramsay, said the wording “risks alienating a significant proportion of Jewish people, including those who vehemently disagree with the Israeli government”.

Another Green MP, Ellie Chowns, said the motion “risks fuelling division, and risks undermining the party’s ability to advocate effectively for justice and peace”.

Just a heads up to anyone, but especially our Jewish friends, thinking of reading the article about the anniversary of 7/10 on the BBC website.
Don't.

Well they shouldn’t be wearing face coverings so we can name and shame the twats!

That will be interesting, to see if the police arrest anyone wearing a mask. They will be heavily outnumbered so I expect they I'll turn a blind eye as usual, except when it comes to protests in Gosport, Portsmouth etc where they're happy to take a hard line.

Of course. They have no moral compass though.

Actually I would rather their hate and anti semitism is publicly displayed for all to see and hear.

I would prefer to see evil in daylight rather than worry in darkness.

I really hope so. It really angers me that people are just now waking up, after years of talking over Jewish people and saying it's all fine. THIS IS WHAT IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN. If you've been chanting 'From the River to the Sea' - you have NO right to be surprised by this, or act like that's not what you have been supporting.

Yes, and London mayor Sadiq Khan allowed this inflammatory message to be projected onto Big Ben, confirming exactly where his loyalties lie.

That the march today is going ahead is truly sickening.

I saw somewhere there’s something like 70? 80? Pro Pal marches on today. Worldwide. I can’t with the world, I just can’t.

Just don't look. Don't look at the BBC website, don't think about the marches today.
Just know that you have friends and support on here, and someone non Jewish has started a memorial thread. 🕯️

Has anyone been watching the France riots? Keep seeing Palestinian flags. Unsettling.

I saw some coverage earlier, it's really shocking, the whole thing has got out of control. Why co-opt the Palestinian flag? Why is that so visible on every protest?

I imagine they've failed to conceal their bias towards Palestine and Islam. They are apologists and useful idiots.

Here's a clue; they accuse Israel of genocide. Oh yes, on this anniversary.
I've logged a complaint.

Because those protests are motivated by a toxic mix of far left anarchy and Islamist opposition to mainstream society. It's not just schoolkids protesting or just the French being French.

We're seeing this unholy alliance emerge in a lot of places and today we'll see it in the pro-Palestine demos.

Chilling. Plus - they have willing fools to help them.

LuckyHazelFox · Today 09:51

At least France had the balls to prohibit the marches, unlike our cowardly governments. I use governments in a plural sense as Boris' government wimped out on stopping the BLM riots, during Covid. People were prevented from meeting their family and friends but troublemakers were allowed to congregate.

I hope it pisses down!
