Greens adopt policy treating Zionism as racism

The Greens have formally adopted a policy which equates Zionism with racism, a move that will dismay the bulk of the party’s MPs and has alarmed some Jewish members.

In a vote on Sunday at the party’s annual conference in Brighton about whether to back a motion which calls for Zionism, the movement for a Jewish state, to be “treated as any other form of racism”, it passed by 1,022 votes to 813.

The motion, which is now formal policy for the Greens in England and Wales, also calls for a single Palestinian state in place of Israel “with equal rights for all”.

Four of the party’s five MPs have condemned the motion, as did Caroline Lucas, the former leader who was the Greens’ first MP.

Adrian Ramsay, who co-led the Greens before Polanski, said in a statement he would vote against it, as it set out what sort of Palestinian state should exist without taking into account the self-determination of Israelis and Palestinians.

Siân Berry, another of the MPs, made the same point.

Carla Denyer, the Bristol Central MP who was co-leader with Ramsay, said the wording “risks alienating a significant proportion of Jewish people, including those who vehemently disagree with the Israeli government”.

Another Green MP, Ellie Chowns, said the motion “risks fuelling division, and risks undermining the party’s ability to advocate effectively for justice and peace”.

@Neverstopwondering Western women have been dissuaded from criticism/action with terms like 'white feminism,' and the idea that western women should 'stay in their lane,' in keeping with the idea that West=Bad. So essentially ignoring gender-based oppression and violence in other cultures out of political correctness.

Was that argument used against those fighting for equal rights for black people in America or South Africa. Did the tell white women to stay in their lane during any other dispute? It is just used to silence and that alone should sound massive alarm bells for anyone of intelligence.

Not the “Four Horsemen” and for sure Dawkins doesn’t have any truck with gender identity. PZ Meyers on the other hand went very into trans activism.

But a lot of the young men (it was usually young men) who used to spend a lot of time on the internet scolding people who believed in god didn’t suddenly get a life, they moved onto scolding people who didn’t hold the right opinions about other issues.

This article talks about a schism
“This heightened salience of political identities significantly hampered the attempt to construct a collective ‘atheist’ identity. Instead, by the middle of the decade two rival and increasingly polarised camps had emerged, each offering radically different assessments of the problems facing the atheist movement and prescriptions for how to address them. On one side were those, typically located on the left of the political spectrum, who wanted the movement to be more politically progressive, inclusive and diverse, and who pushed for an expanded form of atheist identity connected to social justice issues. The other side, typically consisting of conservative and libertarian atheists, subscribed to a far narrower (and in their view, politically neutral) definition of atheism and saw calls for a broader interpretation as an attempt to claim ownership of the movement for the purposes of promoting a subversive political agenda…
As PZ Myers wrote (Reference Myers2012): ‘if we want to expand the movement … we need to recognize that social justice, equality, and fighting economic disparities must also be a significant part of our purpose’“

YY, I can’t take any “sceptic” seriously if they shill for gender identity ideology, as so many of these (mostly) men do.

They broke a police woman’s spine with a sledgehammer. You’d think that would give people pause for thought, but dear god the arguments I’ve had on here where people have tried to justify it.

Apparently it gives them something interesting to write about in their Christmas cards. Not in the least bit ashamed to be associated with the sledge hammer lot are they

“White feminism” as a derogatory term…

I’m white. And a feminist.

So what?

It means you don't have a right to speak, and don't have the insight or authority to campaign for the rights of other girls and women, according to this view.

Yet they get defended because they're older. How many times have we seen on MN the criticism of the police "arresting pensioners" ? It's nonsense.

Didn't you know...?

Palestine and proscribed groups supporting pensioners = good, diminished responsibility
Brexit supporting pensioners = get in the fucking sea and freeze to death, Farage loving Boomer scum

Right side of history innit

Property damage is included within the definition of terrorism: 'the unlawful use of force, serious violence, or threats against people, property, or systems to create fear, intimidate a public, or influence a government to achieve political, religious, or ideological goals'.

Edited

Yes, and I'm saying I don't think it should be.

Threats against property to influence a government have a long tradition and putting them under the "terrorism" umbrella serves primarily to make people think terrorism legislation has gone too far.

Breaking into military facilities and destroying equipment threatens our ability to defend our shores which to my mind is much closer to treason than terrorism.

Some insects, lie the Emerald Cockroach Wasp who take over cockroaches as their host, look for weak hosts.

That's just one example of dangerous parasites in nature who destroy a host in order to further their own species.

Humans do this too, in a more metaphorical sense and the Green Party is a dire warning of what can happen when an official body becomes a host.

The Green Party is being eaten alive but all we hear from it is the occasional dying bleat as they succumb.

Yes, very interesting. They've been taken over for sure and are now like a party of zombies. I only hope their crazy Islamo-Left alliance collapses very soon and the Greens are destroyed forever.

Or maybe re-emerge as a party concerned about trees, nature and the environment.

I see what you mean. Yes, I sometimes whether we humans have a deep-seated psychological need to subsume ourselves to a higher cause, which would explain why after the decline of organised religions in the west so many people kowtowed before the altar of literal gender transubstantiation and the "original sin" of being white.

Well they definitely have a fair few members at the moment who should spend more time outside in nature and less time on the internet posting vile rubbish or voting at conferences.

Hitch was warning about the term "Islamophobia" being weaponised against liberal democracies before virtually anyone else in the West. Dawkins, Harris and Dennett were late to the gender debate but AFAICT have never espoused anything other than a gender critical position. Are you sure they moved towards gender ideology?

They didn’t actually get around to damaging anything but I think it was assumed that was the aim. Are they terrorists?

Palestine Action also attacked an RAF base and damaged military aircraft.

Was that their only intent? If so, then conspiracy to commit high treason is a better description than conspiracy to commit terrorism.
Attacking an RAF base and damaging an aircraft is clearly an attack on our ability to defend our shores, and therefore treason.

Isn't it unclear what their intention was? I thought one theory was that it was a dummy mission to test security, and the phonecall from one of them was to test how long it would take the police to arrive. Also I don't know if they were Palestine Action. It looks like it was some kind of Iranian operation of some kind.

I think individuals being charged with terrorism based on their actions is fine

However prescribing Pal Action a terrorist group was a mistake in the scheme of things. It has played into the pocket of the pro pal lobby groups and fuckwitts in general.

The fact that the Muslim Brotherhood is still not banned in the UK but they have prescribed pal action does not sit well with me regarding the intentions of our politicians

If a regular (ish) person like myself can understand in advance what banning pal action cause chain reaction wise then why would the politicians and their advisers not now this

I don't think the intention was ever to stop the protests or attacks. That may make me a conspiracy theorist but so be it

It will be interesting to see what happens in Thursday's by-election in Holborn&St Pancras. It may be that the Green's appeal to sectarianism, which this vote is very much part of, will pay off. However they will be up against Labour's appeal to sectarianism.

Whoever wins, it shows our democracy is in a pretty poor state and with demographic change, the sectarianism, tribalism and intolerance are likely to increase.
