Greens adopt policy treating Zionism as racism

The Greens have formally adopted a policy which equates Zionism with racism, a move that will dismay the bulk of the party’s MPs and has alarmed some Jewish members.

In a vote on Sunday at the party’s annual conference in Brighton about whether to back a motion which calls for Zionism, the movement for a Jewish state, to be “treated as any other form of racism”, it passed by 1,022 votes to 813.

The motion, which is now formal policy for the Greens in England and Wales, also calls for a single Palestinian state in place of Israel “with equal rights for all”.

Four of the party’s five MPs have condemned the motion, as did Caroline Lucas, the former leader who was the Greens’ first MP.

Adrian Ramsay, who co-led the Greens before Polanski, said in a statement he would vote against it, as it set out what sort of Palestinian state should exist without taking into account the self-determination of Israelis and Palestinians.

Siân Berry, another of the MPs, made the same point.

Carla Denyer, the Bristol Central MP who was co-leader with Ramsay, said the wording “risks alienating a significant proportion of Jewish people, including those who vehemently disagree with the Israeli government”.

Another Green MP, Ellie Chowns, said the motion “risks fuelling division, and risks undermining the party’s ability to advocate effectively for justice and peace”.

The Green Party is reported to have more than 230,000 members.
0.44% voted for the motion
0.35% voted against it
99.2% stood by and watched their party become officially antisemitic.

The Green Party might have suffered from entryism but those that didn't vote against the motion are just as responsible for spreading this hate.

Yep, it's so appalling I can't usually face reading it, let alone posting, even though the absolute shite spouted there needs a lot of challenge. I admire Twiglets1 and others who have the stomach for it.

Likewise. I venture on sometimes, say a few words, perhaps manage about 3 posts, and then beat a retreat. I'm quite robust, but I find it unbearable.

This is what previously happened with trans rights activism.

Yes, the pro-Gaza lobby and trans activism have a lot in common. They're both a kind of purity spiral, a modern-day McCarthyism where a small group of people can weild a lot of power.

I haven't gone back on since the attacks on those ambulances. It took all my strength.

I've discovered her recently on X and she is excellent in her analysis I agree.

She’s been bang on the money with her Iran commentary, she’s my favourite follow on x.

I've had it to the back teeth with people who moan about Trump and Musk and then discuss Gaza without a single mention of how bloody horrendous Hamas is.

'Terrible, terrible, what the Israelis have done to Gaza!'
'So what would you have done?'
'What?'
'What would you have done if dozens of your civilians were being held hostage by a terrorist organisation that had embedded itself in civilians areas?'
'Well, I wouldn't have...[done xyx]'

Unfortunately at this point I tend to lose my shit or let myself be diverted, rather than just saying, Okay, not what you wouldn't have done, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE? I haven't fallen out with anybody yet, but I have the horrible looming sense that a massive bust up with someone, dunno who, dunno when, is absolutely inevitable.

The obsession with the Israel/Gaza conflict ahead of any other conflict anywhere ever does my head in. Jews, innit? That is the only explanation, and it absolutely disgusts me that so many people harbour some degree or other of antisemitism. And the irony is that they think of themselves as living on the moral high ground.

And yes, like a PP, I've also had it with the laughing emojis, the antisemitic tropes and the cartoons.

I'm not even Jewish, but I'm depressed by all of this, and just so done.

I agree, it’s so depressing. I’m Irish, and so embarrassed by the behaviour of our media and stupid fucking footballers and all the rest.

I don’t know where the Irish resentment and hatred towards Isreal and Jewish people came from, but they certainly don’t speak for me.

These days I just roll my eyes when I see Palestinian flags, and make a mental note to avoid those people. They seem blinded by their own righteousness. It’s nauseating.

And like you say, there is never the same vitriol or attention directed at other conflicts.

It’s all so obvious what this really is, I guess the Green Party aren’t trying to hide it anymore.

For the non-Jews on here who want to know what they can do, one thing is to join this organisation - I posted the link earlier but the thread has moved on a long way
https://www.ourfight.uk/about-us/

Another option is to donate to the Community Security Trust
https://cst.org.uk/
It says a lot that their promotional mail-shots assume that donors are Jewish. Next time I pitch some cash that way, I'll make it clear that I'm not.

About Us

Our Fight was established to convince non-Jews of the need to take a public stand against anti-Semitism. Since it was founded in the weeks after October 7th, Our Fight has carried out an enormous number of activities: for last year's Yom HaShoah they...

I thought I couldn't despise him any more but turns out I could!

Nah, he's more to be pitied 😂
They will NEVER be in charge, don't worry.
He really is an oddity of a man, that Polanski 😂

But a strong majority of the party voted for this motion. It is not a fringe issue.

No, a weak majority of conference attendees voted for it. Less than 1% of the party membership.

Polanski loses Holborn
Ali wins a coup
Viola - a full blown Islamist party

Hateful, useful fucking idiots. Like every marcher for Palestine.

👏 👏

Fair point but it automatically becomes party policy.

I'm going to be remembering the fallen Jewish and the rest of the community on 7th October, as will many other decent people. ❤️ no doubt we will all meet up on here. I'm not setting foot on CITME.

Oh yes. I raised it at a "stall" against Genocide in my town centre. I said I was pleased they were against genocide and asked about Sudan.
I was faced with aggression, so beat a hasty retreat.

This is what pisses me off about the "free Palestine" people.
Sudanese women, girls and boys are being sexually abused every day. 12m people have been displaced. There is a famine happening right now, people starving to death
Not a fucking peep about their suffering.
Why?

We can guess. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh recently went to Sudan to visit the camps and talk to the girls and women. She was visibly distressed.
Was her visit covered by the BBC? No.

Last year I looked into attending a weekend woodworking thing, sort of like diy skills and building. I thought it would be a nice way to spend a few days and learn something useful.

Except when I looked through the photos they had massive trans flags and palestine flags all over the place. So obviously I dodn’t book it in the end - I didn’t want to spend the weekend with a bunch of idiots.

But I kept thinking - what the fuck have they got to do with woodwork and carpentry?

Is it just everywhere now? You can’t buy a fucking cup of coffee without a palestinian flag being waved at you.

The hypocrisy of people who resent the flying of England flags yet are happy to have the Palestinian flag everywhere.

Starch1e · 05/10/2026 21:21

I so hope Adrian Ramsey, Sian Berry and other MPs & Senned Members grow a spine and resign. The GPEW is lost.

It sends the hard left in a spin when Raise the Colours lot say they have no problem with the Palestinian flag flying. They just want all flags to be treated equally. Who are really the intolerant people, one might then ask.

It’s a defence mechanism I think.

You no longer have to speak out against Palestine to be anti-Palestinian, you just have to not actively show support.

And the followers are so intense and persistent it bats away a lot of harassment and questioning from friends and colleagues and strangers to just shove a Palestine flag up.

A sort of ‘please don’t hurt/cancel me’ type thing.

No Jews no news.

The Sudanese are not as clever at manipulating online spheres and AI to develop a narrative around their suffering.

And African causes have always been far less glamorous, politically speaking. The politics is too complicated and isn’t as involved with the west so there’s less of a ‘colonialism’ angle.
