I think he paid for it himself. Which is a great example of how wildly removed he is from his voter base, the majority of whom earn under 40k pa.

Farage already was an MP. He only triggered the by election as a political stunt.

I think if you stand down and trigger a by election, you should not be permitted to stand in that election. Or indeed any other by election for at least 12 months.

We should be discouraging the use of elections as political stunts.

David Davis did it in 2008, so it's not unknown.
