Why are some of you so negative, we had years of Tory failed policy, our utilities are ripping us off, our railways are a global joke and people can't bare that we may get a government that's going to set us on a path of change.

Stuff needs to change so young people get a chance of living better lives. If that means sacrifice now then that's what it has to be.

So many people moaning about tax but in reality we don't pay any where near enough. The vast majority of welfare is paid out on pensions and whilst I'll agree there needs to be a work ethos I do not share the idea that we are a nation of welfare spongers.

What do people actually want? If you want railways and utilities like the French and Japanese then unfortunately it means investment. We have tried and tested private investments but it's resulted in poor service and poor investment. Something has to change.

The tax burden is already high. Even the OECD and IMF have said relying on ever increasing taxes isn’t helping.

So how do you propose we invest in Railways, healthcare, education and utilities.

I certainly support oil exploration with 70 percent tax on revenues... including the oil fields around the ascension islands.

I support taxes on Amazon and Google at source of 40 percent.

But people still need to pay in. Income tax should follow German and France and we should move to reduce VAT to 10 percent.

Have you seen Americas national debt....that's more worrying to be honest because it's completely off the rails.

VAT maybe, we’re at peak high income PAYE according to OECD. Taxing that demographic more won’t yield what is wanted.

I’m negative because we had a democratically elected PM who won a landslide public vote and was selected by the Labour Party membership as leader. The party was clear on two previous occasions that we did not want Andy Burnham. But rather than having the decency and humility to accept this, Burnham plotted, schemed and undermined Kier Starmer before seizing power in a manner that avoided any form of scrutiny by the party membership or the public. Burnham is a grubby, self-centred, egotistical opportunist who lacks any of the qualities necessary to lead this country. He is vastly out of his depth and will be found out very quickly. I hope that the public realise this and he’s gone by Christmas. At least we’d then have something to celebrate!

You've got to love a Labour prime minister whose first day on the job sees him promise to end rough sleeping and to help ordinary people with the cost of living crisis while his wife stands there in an £850 dress by Victoria Beckham.

People don't have children to claim more benefits, capping benefits to larger families is cruel and causes huge problems for children growing up in poverty. They simply can't escape it as poverty traps people into endless suffering, poor educational outcomes and poor health...this is the end costs the country a lot more than simply lifting the cap. So I'm afraid politics of finger pointing and judgment has no place in our society.

Farms were taxed because the very wealthy are using land as a tax avoidance investment. This is seeing huge areas of land purchased by hedge funds and billionaires. I'll agree that some farmers have been caught up in the snare but we can't have a situation where huge swathes of land is exchanging hands and no tax is paid

Don't be naive. People have been having more children to gain benefits since they existed. In 1966, my f tried to persuade my dm to have baby no. 7 so he could "give up work and live off the family allowance". (The pill was available by then and thankfully she refused. )

On average, Burnhams new cabinet has 2.5 years experience in ‘real jobs’ as opposed to political appointments, and most of that experience was low grade work.

How the hell can this group claim to represent the working people of this country given their unfamiliarity with what work is?

To be fair, his cabinet picks were sensible. Doing something on energy prices straight away is responsive. On the downside, the VAT is unfunded, so there will be a sting in the tail. The focus on rough sleeping was odd- of course everyone would like to end rough sleeping, but surely there are more pressing concerns for the country as a whole. Was this a distraction technique?

He made the same promise in Manchester and failed, he knows that’s not about resources, it’s a very complex mental health issue in the main, and is not a promise he can deliver on. So again he seems to have done it for the popularity vote, even though it was a pile of shite. And thinks the public is too stupid to realise.

This is my take too so far.

Well, Labour can simply reallocate the PS VAT revenue to fund it, and reduce the 6,500 state school teachers they had promised.
