Nothing will persuade me it happened as the police are saying - the time line does not add up as anyone who has tried to get to her area in the time frame would ascertain. It is a physical impossibility. However RIP Ann you were a trooper 😭

Well I suppose it clearly happened as they are saying except that the timeline could be incorrect.

Videos/ring doorbells/phone messages etc, are not always accurate

Sometimes I can send a message at 10 lets say, but for whatever reason it doesnt send or it does send but doesnt show as sending until a different time.

People put too much confidence in the tech to track things

He was seen, it must be him, its just the timings that are wrong.

Nothing?

So not his car outside his house
his car outside her house
footage of him attacking her with a hammer and wearing black gloves
footage of him taking her wallet and bank cards
his car being back outside his house
a hammer and black gloves with Ann’s DNA being found in his bin at his home in Rotherham

and this is what has been made public so far. There will be more.

Solely on the basis it took you 3.5 hours to drive to Rotherham from a different place.

Let’s hope you’re not on the jury

Same. It’s beyond horrific. So brave, a 28 year old able bodied male, attacking a 78 year old female (apparently whilst having lunch), and hitting her on the head repeatedly with a hammer, all in the name of ideology.

The absolute BEST of the be kind brigade, who think they are righteous absolutists and that therefore violence is justified against anyone who thinks otherwise, because those others are bad people. They have to be bad right, because the righteous are good. Unbelievable, the state of this nation.

Absolutely agree with you 100%

I suspect it’s right, he left at 7,51 and pulled up at her house at 12.30 ish, according to google maps that’s wholly doable, likely hit no traffic and was speeding in parts.

there is always someone who thinks everything is a conspiracy sigh,

Exactly. The most logical explanation for any time difference is that the time stamp on the ring doorbell was on BST or was wrong. If there is footage of the murder and his car was seen in both of the places then how could he not have done the journey in the time?

What have the police actually said? What has been stated in court? As opposed to what has been published in newspapers or on social media?

WonderfulSmith · Today 22:11

where is the 8am thing coming from?

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · Today 22:14

There are some seriously weird posts on these threads, the previous one had a poster who believed that because AW didn't have children nobody would bother to pursue justice for her and this one has a poster that seems to be implying that the police are trying to fit up.an innocent man, in spite of a wealth of evidence.

4t4 · Today 22:20

Regardless of any politics, she was a 78yo woman eating lunch in her kitchen. My mum just died of cancer at the exact same age. The thought of an older person like her being hammered 21 times is so unbelievably horrible and sickening.

It’s not speculation I drove from Glos to Rotherham twice a week for 10 years the time line is an impossibility and anyone who’s taken in by the narrative has obviously never travelled that path. It is a minimum 3.5 hours from here going through Birmingham then getting past Bristol from here just forget it it didn’t happen it’s impossible

But as pp says the police have evidence etc. The CPS needs a certain level of evidence to agree to a charge. What are you suggesting?

Eta: if it is a physical impossibility to drive fron Rotherham to Ann's house within the tinescale concerned, then the murder's defence barrister will be able to blow the prosecution's case apart in a instant.

Dontgetstuckinthepast · Today 22:35

I doubt that violent men stick to the speed limit.

Not if there's actual footage of him at the house commiting murder and the gloves/hammer he used covered with dna in his bin !!! I would think its impossible to argue against that evidence.

CrazyMidget · Today 22:39

I strongly disagreed with Ann's politics, but I am horrified by the new details that have come out today. I would never, ever have wished that on her. Poor Ann; what a dreadful way to go. An ignominious end for a woman who, even though you might have hated her politics, was still impressive and made a big contribution to public life. I might not have liked the shade of her contribution, sure, but I think she deserved respect for the length of her engagement in politics. I hope they throw the book at the culprit. You can't go around murdering people because you don't like their beliefs!!

Very true! But there will be people trying to explain that away too.

My guess is that there is some conspiracy theory doing the rounds on the murkier parts of SM that an immigrant or some other minority the far right hate committed the crime and the police are fitting this chap up. It's like the conspiracy theory about Ukranian rent boys torching Starmer's property.

I agree; completely sickening. And that fucking coward knew full well she was an old lady.

I'm really sorry about your mum. 💐

Ok 3.5 hours from Rotherham in rush hour getting past Birmingham then 2 hours from here getting through Bristol is 5.5 hours with no delay it’s impossible you cdnt drive 50 miles an hour let alone 100 miles a hour. Something about this doesn’t add up 5.5 hours minimum in a car that hadn’t been driven for a year dream on it didn’t happen

Every time I read the online comments in response to this man's arrest I keep hearing this. There seems to be a conspiracy theory brewing but no-one is saying explicitly what it is. Just lots of hints about things not adding up...and another car (a VW Golf) being parked nearby around the time of her death that witnesses reported as being unusual, but the police have apparently failed to take sufficient interest in.

The suggestion would appear to be that this man has been framed for some reason, or that he is covering for the real murderer. Although why someone would even do that I have no idea.

Who is doing all this conspiracy theorising and more importantly, why? What is their agenda?

There will presumably be plenty of CCTV evidence to come out in court that will show the journey was done exactly as described. Very tight, but not impossible. Unless of course you believe that the police are also complicit in this fit up and are fabricating evidence to frame this man. But why? And if so then who should we be pointing the finger at?

It could be that, but it could be that people on the left refuse to believe this crime been committed by someone with a very left wing/progressive/liberal political because that's just awkward and embarrassing. So they are hinting that this was a contract killing on AW at a time that would be very useful to a certain person who has been given 5m to spend on his own personal security and might be in need of a very timely reason to prove why he needs it. Possibly.

Well if you put into Google maps Rotherham to Haytor it comes out at 4 hrs 30 mins, taking into account traffic, speed limits etc.

He left at 07:51 and is believed to have committed the murder at around 12:30. So 4 hours 39 minutes.

The attack is alleged to have lasted 2 minutes.

He then leaves Haytor to return to Rotherham before 6 pm.

All perfectly possible, unless you are desperate for a conspiracy theory.

I don't think the people casting doubt on the journey time etc. are on the left tbh. I certainly don't think @Parsley4321 is and I am sure she will confirm this!

oviraptor21 · Today 22:54

No idea why PP is so adamant it's impossible to drive from Rotherham to Haytor in the time specified. I've just entered the details into Google Maps with a departure time of 8am on a Wednesday and they typical minimum time is 4hrs and 10 mins. Clearly there were no delays and perhaps he was speeding too but there's no question that it's perfectly possible.

Parsley4321 · Today 23:02

@KerryWeaversSpecs no left bias here 😜
you can put whatever you want into Google to get a journey time but when you actually do it it’s a different story. I did this journey for 10 years Rotherham to Glos and then her destination is 2hours from here and if anyone on this thread had done it they would know what I’m talking about it may well say 4 hours 10 minutes but in reality it’s not ever. I don’t know of any conspiracy theory but I do know the journey time doesn’t add up which makes me suspicious

Well I’m on the left and can see that the evidence against this guy currently looks overwhelming. I think we can agree that vile psychopaths are fairly well represented across the political spectrum.

Agree. I haven't seen anyone on the left doubting that it is the right person. Not even Little Owen Jones.
