She's brilliant, I've always thought so but she is getting better all the time. Doing this really suits her.

Full speech from yesterday:

https://x.com/i/status/2054588111317811649

I've seen lots of positive comments online and I agree with them. She said what needed to be said (although I do disagree with her on the trail hunting issue), and the govt really had no comeback.

She also looks fantastic and I bet she's great fun at parties 🥳

I only wish her time had come a bit sooner, when the Conservative party still had a chance. I think they'd have been far better under her than Boris, or any of the others.

However she's doing a great job of holding Labour to account right now.

Conservatives (@Conservatives) on X

WATCH: @KemiBadenoch annihilate Keir Starmer and the entire Labour Party in her response to the King's Speech 🔥

Why is everyone on first name terms with her? It’s all Kemi Kemi Kemi, but Starmer Starmer Starmer. It reminds me of “I am your mate” Boris, whom so many people loved, even though he was atrociously turned out. Ah, but men are held to different standards on this.

EasternStandard · 14/05/2026 09:06

You’ll get loads if posters accusing you of being HQ etc but off mn she is personally polling well

NigelFaragesFakeRoarofLaughter · 14/05/2026 09:07

Does make you wonder why they feel they need to do it.

Are they worried Badenoch's own words won't be very convincing?

Justusethebloodyphone · 14/05/2026 08:47

Labour voter and I can see myself voting for her more than anyone else.

There is no perfection so it’s a process of elimination. I have ruled out any of the Labour challengers. No to reform or Greens. Both actual basket cases. I think Kemi has charisma and common sense.

The Labour Party is choked by its backbenchers. I would vote for Kier again if he could deliver on his vision but too many are stuck in student politics where they would rather feel righteous in their prescribed way rather than understand they are governing the whole country, not just those who agree with them.

This 100%

Yes, and many don't. Mumsnet is not representative of the whole of Society, obviously.

But clearly she has a support base so it doesn’t HAVE to be stooges that are posting these threads?

NigelFaragesFakeRoarofLaughter · 14/05/2026 09:09

To be fair, anyone who listened to her full car-crash interview about maternity leave would justifiably be concerned about her incoherence and her inability to think through what she was saying.

Tonissister · 14/05/2026 09:04

I wondered the same.

Doesn’t that just come down to the easiest or most memorable part of their name? Kier and Badenoch don’t trip off the tongue (and Boris was just more memorable than Johnson)

Keep seeing different versions of this thread and always imagine a bright young advisor sitting in Kemi's office and churning them out. First task on the to-do list - - Mumsnet post about how great Kemi is.

This is good part of why Labour has been hammered and the Democrats were surprised to lose the last election. Instead of listening to public discontent with them or noticing people starting to turn to someone else, they tell themselves to ignore this as its just bots or publicists or whatever, and not a genuine trend existing in real life.

Your arrogance is astounding and also boring. Its really boring to keep reading dimwitted posters, with a confidence in themselves out of proportion to their intelligence, proclaiming any views different from theirs are from bots or publicists. I mean, its not even original, is it? Do you people have any original thoughts of your own? Because you just seem to parrot what you fondly imagine are insults that you have heard your peers make. Boring.

I am a former labour voter who is impressed by Kemi Badenoch. She reminds me of what politicians used to be like. Intelligent and principled. I'd forgotten politicians could be like that. I'll be voting for the conservatives whilst she is their leader.

cramptramp · 14/05/2026 09:16

This is how I feel about Kemi.

Thank goodness for Kemi!

Someone is protesting a bit too much.

peachescariad · 14/05/2026 09:17

Love her. I'll be voting for her.

Justusethebloodyphone · 14/05/2026 09:17

Walkyrie · 14/05/2026 09:02

This is where I am.

She’s the only valid option. I like her. She’s a modern day Thatcher.

Oh I hadn’t thought of that at all. Don’t make me rethink 😱. I guess the aspirational part

Sherbs12 · 14/05/2026 09:18

FrogsWormsandButterflies · 14/05/2026 07:36

You’ve ruined your post by mentioning her looks

Indeed, but it’s also fitting given Badenoch also made a pathetic and unnecessary dig in her speech at Labour’s front bench women all having the same hairstyle… I mean, if insulting women’s looks in parliament is what passes for being impressive and a political heavyweight, then I don’t know what to say.

See, this unoriginal attempt to turn it around and hit all the key points and personally insult MN posters just leaves me flat.

I've been sprayed with too much of this over that last n years for it to have any effect.

SnowFrogJelly · 14/05/2026 09:19

Can’t stand her

beguilingeyes · 14/05/2026 09:55

On a completely shallow note I really loved that dress she was wearing (anybody know where it's from?).
Other that that can't stand the woman.

JohnBullshit · 14/05/2026 10:03

Really? The only thing I can say is that, like Starmer, there doesn't seem to be any overwhelmingly superior candidate to put in her place. Very little 'thank goodness for Kemi' at the ballot box last week.

I did try but typing kinkytoes mumsnet into google was a big mistake. Happy to be proved wrong though.

kinkytoes · 14/05/2026 10:11

It seems many of you would like to comfort yourselves with the idea that I'm a stooge because the thought that I might just be a normal middle class mum is just too scary to contemplate.

Newsflash - we're allowed to feel passionately about politics, and shout about it too!

I mean.. no I really don’t see her being a strong communicator at all but evidently some people do which is surprising to me but also goes to show that we are all different 😂

Erm.. MN has its own search function. You don't need Google.

Can't stick her. She's awful. Patronising and condescending. She's our MP too, and rarely seen in the constituency.

I don't like her personal attacks on others. She did once publicly bang on at Rachel Reeves for being visibly upset over something when in the Commons. She has mentioned the looks of other Labour front bench women too.

She wanted to ally with Trump on going to war. Thank God she wasn't in power then. Starmer stood firm there. Kemi might now have backed down on this one but she would have been an unmitigated disaster there if she had been PM.

If you help vote her in at the next general election then just watch her go into alliance with Reform. It will be the Kemi and Nige double act.

Doesn’t that just come down to the easiest or most memorable part of their name? Kier and Badenoch don’t trip off the tongue (and Boris was just more memorable than Johnson)

A (Boris-hating) colleague used to practically foam at the mouth if anyone said "Boris". "Don't call him Boris! He's not your mate! Call him JOHNSON."

Anyway, this thread feels a bit like being in a parallel universe 😄
