She's brilliant, I've always thought so but she is getting better all the time. Doing this really suits her.

Full speech from yesterday:

https://x.com/i/status/2054588111317811649

I've seen lots of positive comments online and I agree with them. She said what needed to be said (although I do disagree with her on the trail hunting issue), and the govt really had no comeback.

She also looks fantastic and I bet she's great fun at parties 🥳

I only wish her time had come a bit sooner, when the Conservative party still had a chance. I think they'd have been far better under her than Boris, or any of the others.

However she's doing a great job of holding Labour to account right now.

Conservatives (@Conservatives) on X

WATCH: @KemiBadenoch annihilate Keir Starmer and the entire Labour Party in her response to the King's Speech 🔥

She's a far right loon who'd be worse than Thatcher.

She'd just mock trans people in her speeches. Not a serious person.

On a completely shallow note I really loved that dress she was wearing (anybody know where it's from?).
Other that that can't stand the woman.

It's from a company called 'The Fold', according to Twitter.

Erm.. MN has its own search function. You don't need Google.

Came back blank and I don't have premium to do the "see all posts by this poster" search.

I often find a google search is better than a mumsnet search. But not in this case.

FGS! 🙄

You don't need premium to do an advanced search on MN. I'll take you through it step by step if you like?

Really no need for the FGS! and eyeroll. I'm trying to engage with you like a human being here and I've already acknowledged my original post was unreasonable.

Oh, I hadn't spotted that so apologies.

I'll put the guidance here anyway because I think it's a really useful function and others may benefit also.

Here's a photo of Kemi supporting fox hunting.

She is pictured here at a point to point with Oliver Dale, the master and huntsman of the North Cotswold Hunt. He's the master who was in charge when two foxes were killed in separate incidents. https://www.huntsabs.org.uk/north-cotswold-huntsman-oliver-dale-charged-with-a-trio-of-illegal-hunting-incidents/

This is something I just cannot stomach.

I hope there wouldn't be enough support to backtrack on the Hunting Act! I note that more recent conservative governments have left it well alone.

Keep seeing different versions of this thread and always imagine a bright young advisor sitting in Kemi's office and churning them out. First task on the to-do list - - Mumsnet post about how great Kemi is.

I keep thinking this about Reform - that they're littering the boards with anti-Labour threads. Particularly, anti-Green threads, especially before the local elections. I also wonder if the right-wing media are doing it and, on my more sceptical days, I think it's the Russians causing division!

Anyway, assuming this is a genuine poster, I agree that Kemi is quite impressive. It's just a shame that I don't agree with her politics.

Kemi Badenoch would have plunged us into war with monstrous fuckwit Trump. She was slating the PM for being weak and not diving head first off a cliff into an illegal war.

Her lack of eloquence on that matter was laughable. She has since backed down and conceded that she was wrong and that it was the right thing to do to not get involved.

Yes she is well presented, yes she speaks well, she is educated and therefore should speak well. But no, she is not good for this country, her attitudes are repulsive and if she were in charge, you would not be so impressed.

At least she admits she is wrong

I can’t remember any politician admitting they are wrong

and yes I like her as well

Mn isn’t going to just be pro Labour. The op has said she has posting history

NigelFaragesFakeRoarofLaughter · 14/05/2026 10:42

I don't think your first post was unreasonable, @Idlewilder .

Clearly lots of us have noticed this spew of very similar threads with weirdly similar talking points popping up like clockwork.

The "she is getting better all the time" is classic.

It's a very weird thing to say about a 46-year-old who's been a professional politician for more than a decade and a cabinet minister to boot. Looks like even Badenoch's supporters realise she's cocked up repeatedly and needs to pull it back, hence this specific phrase we keep seeing repeated.

Where an individual thread-starter got their inspiration for repeating a particular talking points isn't something we can usually tell.

Although actually in this case the OP does state in her first post that she's been reading stuff online. Her choice whether or not to repeat it, of course, but it does show how this unlikely and unspontaneous phrase that "she is getting better all the time" gets around.

It's definitely not wrong of us to notice this phenomenon and discuss it!

Yes, this is the behaviour I see of her.

Same as the leaping to brown-nose Trump and sneer at Starmer for not taking the UK into Trump's war; then swift reverse ferret when she realises she's out on her own.

The maternity leave debacle was near identical.

It's like she says whatever she thinks will get her brownie-points from one Twitter-mob – without any attempt to think it through – then swivels a 180° when she meets reality, or even just another Twitter-mob.

I don't trust her at all.

xanthomelana · 14/05/2026 10:57

Notmeagain12 · 14/05/2026 07:34

Why mention her looks though? What does that have to do with how well she does her job?

would you have used that sentence if she were male? “Looks fantastic and I bet she’s great fun at parties”

because it seems completely irrelevant.

although maybe being great fun at parties is a key conservative attribute- don’t they keep partying on while the rest of the country is in lockdown?

you’ve undermined your entire post with that one sentence.

Everyone constantly commented on Boris Johnson’s looks and Trump gets the same so to answer your question yes, people comment on male politicians as well.

Cameron's coalition government were constantly saying they had got things wrong. Never seemed to stop them continuing to do so, though.

But, she’s charismatic and eloquent - this can take you a long way. Keir would do well to recognise this.

Played a key role in opposing the Scottish governments gender woo bollocks for a start. Supported the landrover battery factory investment worth several billion pounds, and had a fair go at getting trade deals all things considered after Brexit specifically the trans pacific one.

You may have failed to notice this, but there are an awful lot of posts on mumsnet on the same subjects. Mumsnet is a very, very repetitive place. The rather obvious explanation for this is the we all live in the same culture and lots of us are responding to the same phenomena. In this case, Kemi doing a really good job and being a politician we admire. There really is nothing more to it than that.

I don't notice this ' everyone who has an opinion different from me is a bot' coming from people on the right. Just from people on the left. Just like I never noticed dating profiles saying ' If you voted Remain, we won't get on', in the way I noticed ' If you voted Leave, we won't get on.' Just like I never noticed ' Never kissed a Labour voter' t-shirts. Or people posting memes or shouting ' Fuck Labour' or ' ' Fuck the Tories.'. Maybe I missed it. But I doubt it. This utter contempt for people who disagree with them comes overwhelmingly from the left, and, more than that, is utterly normalised on the left.

There was a post the other day from a dog lover saying all the ' I don't like dogs' posts must come from bots.

Why can't some people accept that other people just don't like the things they do and have good reasons for not liking those things.

I think the second part of this argument is disingenuous- you certainly DO get many comments on social media sites where people show contempt for people who disagree with them from right to left. It’s rife. I agree it’s far from edifying and indicates an ongoing slide into mindless political posturing across the board, but a quick glance at any dissenting comments on a reform Facebook post will demonstrate it come juts as much for right wing commenters as left wing.

also, i don’t think it’s relevant to this thread but there very likely are bot farms promoting reform, so it’s stupid to say it on a thread about dogs, or that all threads about Kemi Badenoch are fake, but this is undeniably a feature of political influence on the internet

NigelFaragesFakeRoarofLaughter · 14/05/2026 14:43

Whereas I remember very well the post after Trump was elected saying "I love the smell of lib tears in the morning". And many more of the same.

Similarly I've seen posts on MN accusing left-wing posts of coming from bots.

I'm not sure why you don't notice the contempt when it comes from the right? There's really no shortage of it.

[ETA I was replying to the previous poster but one.]

Fair enough, I don’t personally think this a particularly impressive or that she has shown herself to be ‘decent’ in other ways, but of you like that sort of thing then I guess you would like her.
