I'm no fan of Kemi Badenoch, but I'm even less of a fan of Robert Jenrick, and I'm rather delighted to see that she has sacked him and withdrawn the whip before he could jump to Reform.

The government doesn’t need to “get in”. It’s in and has another three and a half years in power. A lot can and will happen in that time.

I think this country suffers a lot from the boiled frog syndrome of no one noticing gradual changes.

The impact of reform policy wouldn't even take welfare and immigration back to the time when Blair was in government. We spend twice as much on welfare now than we did when Blair was left office despite this following a decade of centre left policies. Reform aren't even proposing to go back to Blair levels of spend.

Reform would bring immigration back to a level consistent with what we saw under Blair before the Tories lost control.

Maybe Reform should brand themselves "The New New Labour (but without the illegal war mongering) Party".

That's what we are worried about. 3 more budgets of ever weird tax increases.
