Do you think Zelensky will be alive a year from now?

Or has Trump's re-election essentially been his death-knell?

I watched him being interviewed last week. He comes across as highly intelligent, articulate and a man of great integrity, loyalty and love for his country.
He answered every question fully and honestly.
He is a very brave man.
I am appalled at the way Trump and Putin are treating Ukraine as a bargaining chip (and bringing the Saudis into it).
I think he is in great danger.
I also think he is correct that if Putin gets part of Ukraine now, he will not stop.
I hope he survives, but, tbh, I think we are all screwed.

Yes I worry if Russia basically take over Ukraine, and Trump takes 50% of their rare minerals, that Zelensky will have a mysterious death.
And those talking about peace, that is not what is being proposed. What is being proposed is that Ukraine surrender to Russia.

WTH Why? What's Zelenskyy done?
Defend his country & they're right to exist as a sovereign state/country.

What the fuck is the usa doing anyway going behind Zelenskyys back making apparent deals with a fucking war criminal (putin) trump & putin are a pair of cunts!

There's nothing wrong with that comment. The question in the heading is will Zelensky be alive in a year. Hopefully we all hope so

Devon24 · 19/02/2025 01:05

Zelensky is a legend, a modern day hero. A young man with his whole future ahead of him. If it was not for him, Ukraine would be Russia by now, and Russia would be invading Poland and other countries.

I hope the US will bring an end to the despicable crimes of Russia without selling out Ukraine ( God willing) and put an end to a potentially never ending war.

I hope Zelensky enjoys a long holiday and finally take off his war fatigues. I admire hom greatly, and one day I plan to visit Kiev. I doubt z Russia will ever be forgiven for this war.

That is not going to happen!! 😂

That is the proposal.
And Trump has said he wants 50% of Ukraine's rare minerals. They are worth a small fortune.

BigMoonRising · 19/02/2025 01:09

Devon24, Have you seen the latest news? Trump is siding with Russia. Blaming Zelensky for starting the war?!

This is what is so sad-he’s a real person, he was an actor, he clearly never set out to be where he is now but he’s there and he has done his absolute best with dignity, courage and strength but despite that he won’t win it’s being taken completely out of his hands and that’s wrong. I do think sadly he won’t be around for long. Perhaps he could leave and go somewhere safe but I don’t think he would want to leave his country.

"This is what is so sad-he’s a real person, he was an actor"... 🤔 there's a clue here somewhere

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2025 01:19

Had the Ukraine not stood firm then the Ukraine would now be Russia

Had Ukraine not stood firm then Finland, Poland and Latvia might now be Russia. I don't think Putin is done expanding.

I also think Trump, Putin and maybe the Chinese/North Koreans would like to carve up the globe into 3 enormous superpowers, no democracy, no small nations, just 'autonomous' regions, oligarchs all the way. Maybe the Saudis for an even 4.

I'm a bit fatalistic today.

I would hope so, he’s a relatively young man.
Politically the Ukraine is due for an election although it’s rare for elections to be called in the middle of an actual war.
All politicians face a certain threat, that being said I suspect Trump might be a higher value target, Putin and possibly some other leaders in Africa (I don’t get as much info on their conflicts).

Putin is more protected as he burrows away in his cowardly hole. Zelinsky has protections but not to the same extent.

So you are condoning the right of Russia to kill him, yes?

What an odd way to misread @2024YR4 's post! Why do you think she said "sadly" in "I do think sadly he won’t be around for long." ?

There's a difference between thinking through likely ways geopolitics will play out versus condoning actions. Let alone assigning "rights"!

It's not thought-crime to recognise reality.

You should try it: allow yourself to think about what is likely to happen in different situations and why, without self-censoring according to your moral views, and without stopping your thinking dead at what 'should' happen. You'll understand the world better - and probably get less upset when things you don’t like happen - because you'll understand better why they've happened instead of just being angry about it.

mids2019 · 19/02/2025 06:39

I don't think he will be dead but exile....possibly? When the war is over there will be elections in Ukraine and Zelensky has lost support both from those who would feel he has lost 20% of the country and those who feel he has lost many Ukranian lives and brought hardship on the country. Both views are incredibly unfair of course but as a Ukrainian maybe it is human nature to blame someone or anyone for your condition and Zelensky maybe the scale goat.

Away from office I would think, yes, Zelensky's life is in danger as someone the Russians may wish to avenge themselves on for such a successful initial defence of Ukraine.

@BaronessEllarawrosaurus Oh yes I've reread the title 😯 sorry @MrsSkylerWhite misunderstood.

You do know your blase question is about a real person- with a family that love him?

I didn't read it as a blase question. I think it's a genuine concern that he may not be around in a year and that's pretty frightening.

I can't believe how much Trump has changed the narrative around what has happened in Ukraine. Zelensky has given his all for the country. He must be so frustrated now.

crockofshite · 19/02/2025 06:53

Do you have insider information about his pending defenestration?

I think this is an important topic. We know how Russia have dealt with their enemies previously. Nobody is saying it would be a good idea but it's worth being aware.

He had the chance to flee in a helicopter with suitcases of cash like
Ashraf Ghani. He's risked his life to save Ukraine and now he's being pushed aside.

KvotheTheBloodless · 19/02/2025 07:18

I hope he stays safe, I can't imagine what his wife and children are going through.

sugarspiceandeverythingnice12 · 19/02/2025 07:44

I think its a reasonable question, OP. Putin seems to murder a number of people that he doesn't like. I hope this doesn't happen to Zelenski

I wasn't deleted, my comment was deleted (because some person decided to report something truthful). This thread is utterly repulsive. Bowing out seeing as MN won't do anything about it.
